1882 Colt, 1st Gen. SAA Peacemaker, 22 LR (Converted From 45), Revolver, SN - 83951

Lot # 27

One of the most famous handguns of all time is the Colt Single Action Army revolver. Also known as the Peacemaker, Frontier Six-Shooter and the M1873, the Single Action A...morermy has been a staple of Hollywood films, appearing in virtually every cowboy and western film ever made. The U.S. Army adopted the new handgun in July 1873, naming it the M1873, and bought 36,000 revolvers chambered in .45 Colt caliber. The revolver was introduced to the civilian market two months later acquiring the nickname “Peacemaker.” The M1873 was used extensively across the nineteenth century western frontier by all sides, from the U.S. Army to white settlers and even Native American tribes. Although replaced in 1892 with a new Colt Double Action revolver, the M1873 remained in limited service with the U.S. military, seeing action in the Spanish American War, Philippine Insurrection, and even the U.S.-Mexico border conflict of the 1910s. By World War I and World War II the 1873 was out of circulation although U.S. General George S. Patton carried a Single Action Army revolver as his personal sidearm throughout World War II. The Colt M1873 SAA is still in production today and is classified by historians & collectors in three production runs: Produced: 1873–1941 (Gen 1), 1956–1974 (Gen 2), 1976–present (Gen 3). This SAA Peacemaker was made in 1882 (Gen 1) and sports a 22 caliber conversion (originally chambered for 45 Colt), nickel plated finish, 4 3/4" barrel, ivory grips, 6-shot cylinder and comes in wooden case with purple lining. This gun is showing some age & wear, but it is numbers matching (cylinder frame, grip frame & butt) and appears to be mechanically sound and to be in good working order. Gerald H. Miller Estate

1920's Marlin, Model 39 "Star", 22 S L LR, Lever-Action, SN - 11943

Lot # 44

The Marlin Model 39 was introduced in 1922 and made until the introduction of the model 39A in 1939. The Model 39 series of take-down lever-action .22 rifles represent th...moree oldest shoulder firearm design in the world that has been in continuous production. An amazing variety of guns sharing the same enduring Model 39 action have been produced. The utility, handiness, sleek lines, accuracy and ease of operation of these rifles place them solidly among the classics. The Model 39 started life as the Marlin Model 1891, the first lever-action rifle ever chambered in .22LR and the magazine was loaded through a conventional side gate in the receiver. The tubular magazine was changed to front-loading with the Model 1892 due to the difficulties of receiver feeding the small rimfire round. The 1892 gave way to the takedown Model 1897 which became the Model 39 in 1921 and then the Model 39A in 1939. Model 39s with a "star" stamped on tang were considered high grade guns by factory inspectors. This Model 39 "Star" was made in circa 1922-1927 and features a smooth walnut stock with pistol grip, 24" octagon barrel, case hardened receiver, tang adjustable flip-up peep sight, rear dovetail with insert, flip-up ring front sight, quick take-down screw on the right side of the receiver and black checkered buttpad. 1940 Marlin, Model 39A, 22 S L LR, Lever-Action, SN - B1076

Lot # 46

The Model 39 series of take-down lever-action .22 rifles represent the oldest shoulder firearm design in the world that has been in continuous production. An amazing vari...moreety of guns sharing the same enduring Model 39 action have been produced. The tubular magazine was changed to front-loading with the Model 1892, due to the difficulties of receiver feeding the small rimfire round. The 1892 gave way to the takedown Model 1897 which became the Model 39 in 1921 and then the Model 39A in 1939. The 39A was produced until 1983 when the current Golden 39A was introduced. This Model 39A was made in circa 1940-1941 and sports a case hardened receiver, smooth walnut stock with pistol grip, black ribbed buttpad, 24" round barrel, tang adjustable flip-up peep sight, adjustable elevator semi-buckhorn rear sight, dovetailed front sight and quick take-down screw on the right side of the receiver. This gun is in nice condition with various light wear, has a sharp bore and appears to be in good working order.

1979 Colt, Trooper MK III (6"), 22 Magnum R.F., Revolver (W/ Box), SN - Y9681

Lot # 47

Introduced to the firearms market in 1953, the Trooper and its high-end cousin, the .357 Magnum, were introduced with the intention of addressing the medium frame revolve...morer market as law enforcement officers had long complained about the weight of earlier models. The Trooper was made in three different variants/production runs - Original Trooper 1953 - 1969, Trooper MK III 1969 - 1983 & Trooper MKV 1982 - 1986. Intended to be the first major advancement of Colt's designs since the beginning of the 20th century, the MK IIIs used a new "J" frame and had no parts interchangeability with older models. The new revolvers employed transfer-bar lockwork system so that the revolver could fire only if the trigger was deliberately pulled completely to the rear. The springs used in the MK IIIs internals were also an improvement. Unlike the older flat style, they were coiled and made entirely of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. A new ammunition chambering option, the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire, also became available for the first time but was only produced in special production runs - very low production. This Trooper MK III 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire was made in 1979 and features a polished Royal Blue finish, 6" ribbed barrel, Patridge-style pinned front sight, adjustable rear sight pinned to the channel, case hardened hammer, checkered walnut flat-butt target grips with gold Roaring Colt medallion and 6-shot swing out cylinder. This gun is in beautiful condition with no wear to speak of, has a perfect sharp/clean bore (possibly unfired), appears to be in good working order and comes in original box with paperwork (No Manual Was Found).
