Ferrari 456M GT

Lot # 151 (Sale Order: 52 of 175)

The Ferrari 456, the first front-engined Ferrari for 20 years, offered true performance touring for four occupants. The 456 GT wasannounced in September 1992, making its public show debut in Paristhe following month. This was a positive and brave move by thecompany, as the prestige sports car markets were in recession, after all the speculation and hype of the late eighties. However, they showed their commitment to broadening their range and tomaintaining their position at the head of the list of the world'smost desirable automobiles.  The Pininfarina styled aluminiumbodywork made for a pleasing if not spectacular design, particularly the modernised reflection of the fabled 365 GTB/4'Daytona' with the long bonnet, featuring retractable headlightpods. Also inspired by the 'Daytona' was the design treatment ofthe rear of the cabin envelope and tail. Thus although the shapewas thoroughly modern, it contained retro trace elements toassociate it with the company's history. Electronically adjustableself levelling suspension gave positive handling and a comfortableride, while the 442bhp, V12 made sure that performance had not beenoverlooked. This lefthand drive Ferrari was imported into the UK in 2015 bythe current vendor. The cambelts were changed in 2015 by respectedFerrari specialist, Foskers and the car appears to be faultlessmechanically. The condition of this delightfully handsome Ferrariis commensurate with such a low mileage example, the vendor havingused her sparingly since his purchase. Fitted with the moredesirable manual gearbox , this four-seater GT is finished in bluewith tan leather and comes with the original Ferrari toolkit andjack. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoTtest certificate, this 456M is very well equipped and will be a joyto own.?

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a two-door grand touring convertiblewith a removable hardtop that was produced between May 1955 andFebruary 1963 with a prototype first shown at the 1954 New YorkMotor show. It was sold alongside the faster, more expensiveMercedes-Benz 300 SL which it closely resembled both in itsstyling, engineering, detailing and its fully independentsuspension. However, the 190 SL did not use the 300 SL'spurpose-built tubular space frame W198 platform but was built on ashortened monocoque R121 unit. Triumph TR2 'Long door'

Lot # 153 (Sale Order: 54 of 175)

The first production road Triumph TR2 left the Triumph works atCanley in August 1953; thereafter production was very slow forseveral months. Just 250 cars were built prior to 1954 of whichonly 50 stayed within the UK. At the start of 1954, productionincreased and TR2s began to dominate the home market. This was dueto Triumph's determination that a reasonable proportion would stayin the UK, whereas MG, Morgan and Jaguar were mainly exporting. Theearly TR2s were sought-after mainly because of their performance, low running costs, availability and low price. Such was the successof the TR2 that in 1954 one entered the famous Mille Miglia eventwhere it came 28th out of 450 starters and in the Le Mans 24 Hoursof that year another TR2 came 5th in class. Both results emphasisedthe strength and performance of the cars. Offered here is an excellent 'long door' example of the marque, well presented with British Racing Green coachwork, complemented bybrown leather trim and fawn hood. The car also features a number ofoptional extras fitted from new, including wire wheels, a heaterand an adjustable steering column; details of which can be found onthe accompanying heritage certificate. First registered on 14th June 1954 after being dispatched to NorthAmerica, this TR2 was discovered by an English property developerwhilst on holiday in 1989 who set about bringing the car back tothe UK and fulfilling a lifelong dream to restore the car. Afterrepatriation in 1990, the restoration process was begun byFortescue Garages Ltd., TR classic specialists in Bournemouth. Therestoration is documented extensively in the history file andincludes a full photographic record of the process all in line withthe original Heritage production specifications. Despite therestoration being some 25 years ago , this beautiful examplepresents as if it had taken place less than five years ago; astaggering testimony to the love and care bestowed under thecurrent ownership. 'Long door' TR2s are lighter than their later siblings resultingin the cars being very spritely and this car is no exception.Accompanying the vehicle is a full set of weather equipmentincluding the hood, tonneau cover and side screens, together withan extensive history file, detailed photographic record andreceipts of the restoration, a British Motor Industry HeritageTrust Certificate, owner's manual and even a Haynes Manual. Thecondition of this 'long door' TR2 is fantastic and we believe it tobe one of the finest examples of an older restoration we have comeacross; an opportunity indeed for the TR aficionado or prospectiveMille Miglia entrant.?

Lot # 155 (Sale Order: 55 of 175)

The six cylinder William Towns styled DBS had been around for acouple of years anxiously awaiting the V8 engine that had beenespecially designed for it. The5.3 litre Tadek Marek-designed engine was able to develop around320bhp which gave the ability to reach 160mph; all this with spacefor four people. The Volkswagen Type 181 was a two-wheel drive, four-door,convertible, off-road, manufactured by Volkswagen from 1968 to1983. During the 1960s, several European governments begancooperating on development of a vehicle known as the Europa Jeep, alightweight, amphibious four-wheel drive vehicle that could bemass-produced for use by various national military and governmentgroups. Originally developed for the West German Army, the Type181 was also sold to the public, as the Kurierwagen in WestGermany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom and TheThing in the United States (1973-74). Volkswagen imported 300righthand drive Trekkers 182's during 1974-75 but only 71 were soldstarting at chassis number 185 2086406 and makes it rarer than anseries one, flat floor E-Type Jaguar.   This rare Volkswagen 182 Trekker was the subject to a ground-uprestoration taking eighteen months; repair panels were notavailable so everything was repaired or made from scratch, oncerepaired the whole car was sprayed with Galvafroid zinc-rich,anti-corrosion coating and underneath a coating of underseal toprotect the car from future corrosion. During the restoration, theTrekker has been fitted with a custom-made roll-cage, raised by 2"and fitted with chromed five spoke wheels shod with General Grabberall-terrain tyres. This Volkswagen Trekker is supplied with a V5Cregistration document, an MoT test certificate valid until May2018, a file containing old MoT test certificates, invoices, a copyof an article about the car and restorer and a couple of CD'scontaining photographs of the car under restoration. MG Midget

Lot # 159 (Sale Order: 59 of 175)

First introduced in Monte-Carlo by the British Motor Corporation(BMC) on 20th May 1958 and intended as a low-cost model, the Spritewas designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company, which received aroyalty payment from the manufacturers BMC. The low cost of £669was achieved by using a mildly tuned version of the A-Series engineand as many other components from existing cars as possible.Manufactured at the MG sports car factory at Abingdon, it was notsurprising that the success of the design would lead to an MGversion, which was known as the Midget. The final version of theAustin Healey Sprite arrived in 1966, as the Mk IV. The new modelnow used a twin carburettor 1275cc version of the proven A-Seriesengine which it shared with other BMC models such as the MiniCooper S. Another major improvement was the addition of a foldinghood; previous models consisted of a separate hood cover and frame. In 1969, a 'British Leyland' makeover was applied to the Sprite, consisting of matt black paint on the sills, Rostyle wheels and aplastic front grill. In 1974, to meet US federal regulations, largeblack plastic bumpers were added to the front and rear and the rideheight was increased; an anti-roll bar was added to help with thehigher centre of gravity. The A-Series engine was replaced by the1493cc unit from the Triumph Spitfire. The last car wasmanufactured on 7th December, 1979, after 73,899 of the finalversion had been produced. This 1976 registered MG Midget has only had five documentedowners and has just 64,350 miles recorded upon the odometer. Finished in the colour of Bracken Yellow, we are informed that thisexample presents well and comes with a useful tonneau cover as wellas its soft top. Recent works have included an overhauled cylinderhead with unleaded fuel conversion, rectification of a differentialoil leak and an MoT test certificate, valid until March 2018 withno advisories. Offered without reserve, this MG Midget representsan affordable and useable British classic.
First introduced in Monte-Carlo by the British Motor Corporation(BMC) on 20th May 1958 and intended as a low-cost model, the Spritewas designed by the Donald Healey Motor...more Company, which received aroyalty payment from the manufacturers BMC. The low cost of £669was achieved by using a mildly tuned version of the A-Series engineand as many other components from existing cars as possible.Manufactured at the MG sports car factory at Abingdon, it was notsurprising that the success of the design would lead to an MGversion, which was known as the Midget. Vauxhall Viva SL

Lot # 160 (Sale Order: 60 of 175)

The HB Viva was announced in September 1966 and sold by Vauxhalluntil 1970. An automatic option to the Viva HB was offered fromFebruary 1967 and fitted with the Borg Warner Type 35 system. TheHB used double-wishbone and coil springs with integrated telescopicdampers at the front, trailing arms and coil springs at the rear, setting new standards for handling in its class as a result of theadoption of this suspension design. We are delighted to offer this low mileage Vauxhall Viva SL thatwas sold by Scurrays Ltd. of Swindon on 1st December1967 to a Mrs. Knapp. The SL (Super Luxury) was a version of the HBthat offered higher levels of trim and comfort; the original salesorder form came to £814.6s and 10d, this included the £83,11s and8d for the optional automatic gearbox. KMR 341F was garaged fromnew and never saw much use. The second owner was the office managerat Mrs. Knapp's husband's company with little usage continuing inthis new ownership. In 1987, its owner, now of advancing years, placed the Vauxhall in a well-ventilated barn. There it stood for22 years until discovered by its third owner in 2009. A coating ofdust had covered the car but it was in remarkable andwell-preserved condition. Unfortunately some areas of birddroppings had discoloured the paintwork so a strip and repaint inthe original colour of Grecian White was decided upon; the mileageat this time was recorded as 10,800 miles. Today, the coachworkpresents very well with no evidence of dents or scratches and thepanel gaps are as you may expect from a new car. In fact, there isno evidence of any welding that has ever been carried out; even thespot welds in the rear arches are clear and visible. The interior, still in its original Casino Red, Ambla material is in fine order.Of particular note are the front and rear seats that look virtuallyfactory fresh and certainly not misshapen. A large file accompaniesthe Vauxhall and includes one set of the original keys with theoriginal supplying dealers fob attached, service book, salesbrochures, Vauxhall Owner's Club magazines, old MoT testcertificates, UK V5 registration document and an MoT testcertificate valid until 11th August 2017. We have nodoubt that this Vauxhall Viva HB SL Viva's mileage is correct; itscondition unheard of in Vauxhall circles and thus making this avery rare beast indeed. A tempting prospect as it is offeredwithout reserve.

Every MoT certificate is present in thehistory file to account for use and mileage. The history filecontinues to impress with a full owner's guide, fully stampedservice book, both quick reference guides for car and navigationsystem, original DB7 Price guide card and 'DB7 GT' DVD. Majestic inNero Black, this GT commands huge presence, both on the road and atthe kurb with the deep metallic hue layered with a generous silverflake that shimmers beautifully upon closer inspection. The changesover the standard car have subtly optimised the balance of styling;a boot-lip spoiler, a redesigned 'GT' front grille and a lower airintake work alongside twin bonnet vents, not dissimilar to thoseseen on the V12 Vanquish, for better air-flow management.Vulnerable plastics and trim surrounds have aged well with minimaldiscolouration; fit and finish remains very impressive. This car isfitted with numerous options including the burr trim set, colourkeyed steering wheel, GT Aerodynamic upgrade, GT brake upgrade, GTsuspension upgrade, heated front screen, navigation system, sportsseats, Tracker and upgraded 19" wheels. In typical Aston Martinfashion there is a considered balance of the very best traditionalmaterial married to the latest in-cabin technology. The burgundyleather remains soft and supple to touch with bolster definitionand shape in particularly good order. Carpets and mats remain infirst class condition with the headlining still tight, clean andfree of marks. The revised quick-shift gear lever and racingtwin-plate clutch enable the driver to maximise use of the increasein power; offering a faster change than the standard car. The DB7 will always hold historic importance as the first everproduction Aston Martin to be fitted with a V12 engine. The GTfeatures a specific free flowing exhaust, with by pass valve, topromote a glorious exhaust note similar to that of the V12Vanquish. Even considering the car's low mileage, the 435hp enginehas enjoyed a strict routine of annual main agent servicing withextended warranty to cover all mechanical maladies. The drivetrainperforms without fault and is a pleasure to work once warm; recentmechanical adjustments to gearbox mount and clutch pressure switchoffer further peace of mid going forward. The optional 19" rimspresent unmarked all round and wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sportshowing excellent tread depth and the uprated Brembo brakes displayplenty of life and have always had the fluid changed, on time andas per manufacturer's instructions by the main agent. A superbexample with exemplary and continuous history; this manual versionis a highly collectible and worthy investment.?

In June 1974, less than six years afterthe car's UK introduction, Ford announced the completion of the twomillionth Ford Escort, a milestone unmatched by any Ford modeloutside the USA. The Mk. I featured contemporary styling cues intune with its time; a subtle Detroit-inspired 'Coke bottle'waistline and the 'dogbone' shaped front grill - arguably the car'smost famous stylistic feature. This Escort Mk. I has been fully rebuilt by the vendor over aten year period. The bodywork has been stripped down to bear metal, any corroded areas cut-out and re-fabricated as necessary; the carhas been fully seam welded. Wheel arches have been added toaccommodate the Group 4 wheels and tyres. The front suspension hasBilstein fully adjustable struts and a quick-rack has been fittedalong with four pot calipers and vented discs. The rear suspensionhas fully adjustable gas shock absorbers, Atlas axle with alloybrace and a limited slip 3.75 ratio differential. This is allpowered by a Cosworth double overhead camshaft 16 valve, 250bhpturbo unit which is mated to a Cosworth TS gearbox. Internally, shehas been fitted with a FIA bolt-in roll cage, vertical hydraulichandbrake, FIA plumbed in fire extinguisher and an alloy fuel tankin the boot. This is an impressive fast-road specification Escortand one that has had no expense spared in achieving the finalresult. The vendor is reluctantly selling her to fund a buildingproject. This imposing Ford, which is exceedingly impressive in theway she looks, sounds fabulous and drives just as well.

Ford Capri Mk. II 3000 Ghia

Lot # 167 (Sale Order: 67 of 175)

The Ford Capri was designed to be the Ford Mustang of Europe. Amind boggling array of options meant that the Capri could bewhatever you wanted it to be; just like the Mustang. The Capri wasin fact a far more varied animal than the Mustang with enginesranging from 1300cc to 3100cc as well as a myriad of trimspecifications. The most popular engine was the 1600cc unit, butthe object of most desire was the three litre version, which wasavailable from 1969 Mk. I to the 1981 as the 3.0S and thenlatterly, the 2.8. The Capri was ready for a special preview inBonn on 21st January, 1969. It then went on to be released to thepress and public at the Brussels Motor Show on 24th January. Therehad previously been a press preview in Cyprus but Ford hadrequested that nothing about the new car would be published until24th January to coincide with the Motor Show. Surprisingly, thisrequest was honoured and the Capri caused a sensation at the show. The model would stay in production for 18 years from 1969 to1987.Originally registered on 1st June, 1974, this striking CapriGhia is owned by a very knowledgeable collector and is only beingsold due to lack of suitable storage space. The car is in very goodorder showing no signs of corrosion and the orange paintwork is invery good order, this is complimented by a black vinyl roof. Theinterior is finished in black and, again, is in a conditioncommensurate with such a well looked after and low mileage vehicle. The 3000cc Essex engine started immediately when request and ranvery smooth and quietly, we are advised the automatic transmissionoperates exactly as it should. A comprehensive history folderaccompanies CNE 43M as does a V5C registration document and acurrent MoT test certificate valid until 21st March, 2016. ClassicFords are in high demand currently with the market struggling tokeep up with demand, this matching numbers Mk. II Capri Ghia iscertain to create interest given the condition andhistory. ?

Volvo P1800S Convertible

Lot # 168 (Sale Order: 68 of 175)

The P1800 project was started in 1957 as Volvo wanted a sportscar to sell in the US and European markets. In December 1957, thefirst hand-built P1800 prototype was driven to the headquarters ofKarmann. Volvo had hoped that Karmann would be able to take on thetooling and building and, if so, it would have meant that the firstcars would hit the market as early as December 1958. However, inFebruary 1959, Karmann's most important customer, Volkswagen, forbade them to take on the job as they feared the P1800 wouldcompete with the sales of their own cars and threatened to cancelall their contracts if they took it on. The car, however, waspresented to the public for the first time at the Brussels MotorShow in January 1960. The P1800 was made famous both by the hit TVseries 'The Saint' starring Roger Moore and by Irv Gordon of NewYork who holds the Guinness world record for the highest recordedmileage for his P1800, having been driven over three million miles;a testament to the robustness of Volvo's design.Volvo didn't have any plans to build a drophead of the P1800however some modifications could be made to create a convertiblebut, due to the high cost, Volvo decided not to. Harold Radfordmade one 1800S convertible for the Hull-based Volvo dealer in March1965 and it was sold in 1968. Radford's convertible wasn't the onlyVolvo 1800-convertible: about 50 convertibles were built by Volvodealer Volvoville in Long Island. Besides these 'official sold'convertibles, there are several other custom-made cabrioletsincluding this particular car.It was first registered in February 1966 and is currently withits fourth keeper who acquired the car in 2005.The car wasconverted to its current specification in 1991 and is a well knownand documented conversion with details in the car's history fileincluding articles from Volvo Enthusiasts Magazine with furthereditorial inYour ClassicandClassic Cars for Saleamongst others.Over the years, the car has been shown at many events and won manyprizes including at the NEC, Goodwood and the Klassieker Beurs inHolland. The owner notes that the original seats and seat beltswere changed to increase its safety and comfort with the originalitems included in the sale. A well known conversion with a welldocumented history; this is a highly desirable and collectibleexample.

Ferrari 328 GTS

Lot # 169 (Sale Order: 69 of 175)

Perhaps one of the most recognisable designs ever penned forFerrari by Pininfarina is that of the 308. The 308 was muchdifferent from Ferrari's first two-seat, mid-engined road car, the246 Dino, as its design was angular, sharp and more forwardthinking. Nevertheless, the 308 was an instant hit and it came todefine late '70s and early '80s sports cars. As successful as the308 was, Ferrari's engineers found ways to refine its design andmechanics without losing the flair that defined it. What emergedwas a car that was improved in every aspect; a car that could standtall amongst its siblings; that car was the 328. It exhibitedseveral subtle differences from its predecessor, including mouldedbumpers, a slightly smaller front grill and a roof spoiler.Pininfarina's designers also smoothed out the shape of the body tomake it appear slightly less aggressive overall. Inside, Ferrariintroduced new and more supportive seats and refined ergonomicswith improved general quality to make the car's driving experiencemore intuitive. Mechanically, overall capacity was raised to 3186ccthrough increasing the bore and stroke which helped to bringmaximum horsepower to 270 at 7000rpm. It could also reach a topspeed of 160mph and travel from 0-60 in a brisk 5.5seconds. Originally registered on 1st January, 1987, thisFerrari has been lovingly cared for by the vendor and presents inexcellent condition. The Rossa Corsa paintwork is original andunblemished as is the Crema leather interior; it is astonishing tothink this is a 30 year old car when walking round it. This328 GTS is supplied with a well documented service history; thecambelts were last changed on 16th January, 2016. Waxoilhas been applied to the underside and wheel arches; this Ferrarisits very well on a good set of Pirelli tyres and the Campagnolowheels are unmarked. Supplied with a V5C registration document anda current MoT test certificate valid until 6th April,2018, this genuine UK registered righthand drive 328 GTS has beenin the hands of a private collector in recent years; we canconfidently say she is one of the best examples we haveseen.

MG B Roadster Competition

Lot # 170 (Sale Order: 70 of 175)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA andmanufactured until 22 October 1980. The roadster was the first ofthe MGB range to be produced and was a pure two-seater.  Thesuspension in standard cars was softer, giving a smoother ride, andthe larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed. The four speedgearbox was an uprated version of the one used in the MGA with anoptional overdrive transmission. They looked good and providedsparkling performance. Their popularity led to a huge market inupgrades which went hand-in-hand with the rise in club sport, national and international competition. This is exactly what is on offer here today; it represents ade-bumpered 1981 model with the larger 1950cc engine fed throughDCOE48 Weber carburettors. It benefits from the requiredmotor-sport safety requirements such as driver seatbelts, seats andfire extinguishers, all still in-date (the passenger seat can beremoved for racing). The body is in good order with light-weightfibreglass wings and bonnet. A (removable) factory hardtop isfitted for added streamlining and the overall condition is reportedas good. There is also a sizable history file detailing itspreparation and expense to date. It is currently eligible for anumber of the more popular motorsport events, the HSCC series andthe MG Peter Best Challenge Cup (registrations still open), the MGCar Club Cockshoot Cup and HSCC events. With competitive racingavailable at such an inexpensive price-point, everyone should tryit!

Alvis TE21 Drophead Coupé by Park Ward

Lot # 171 (Sale Order: 71 of 175)

After the Second World War, the 1919-founded Alvis Motor Companyspecialised in sports saloons, traditionally styled and coachbuilt, with the Grey Lady model being capable of over 100mph. In 1955however, Graber styled, what was considered to be, a stunninglyattractive two-door, pillarless coupé based upon a Grey Ladychassis which could comfortably transport four people with speedsup to 110mph.Although the Swiss firm did body several chassis from Coventry, their design was reproduced by celebrated English coachbuilders,Park Ward, who produced both fixedhead and drophead versions. Witha Rolls-Royce standard of finish, the new Alvis quickly magnetisedan up-market following which included Prince Philip and GroupCaptain Sir Douglas Bader CBE, DSO, DFC. There is littledoubt that it is the exquisite coachbuilt sweeping lines andcompelling motive force that have attracted clientele the worldover ever since. We are delighted to offer this Alvis TE21 Drophead Coupé bodiedby Park Ward that was first registered to a Mrs. J. T. Waddilove,Purley, Surrey on 12th November 1964. The motor car wasordered direct from the 1964 Motor Show; the supplying dealer beingJack Barclay Limited, Berkeley Square, London, W1. It is understoodthat it was at this show where Prince Philip ordered his personalAlvis. The original sales invoice records that this Alvis wassupplied with the registration number, JTW 29, power steering, chrome wire wheels, anti freeze and a full tank of petrol. The Waddilove family used it until 1975 whereby it was laid upin dry storage until its discovery in 2008 whereby the current (andsecond owner) purchased the motor car. After such a long lay-up,the car required extensive restoration and a decision was made soonafter its acquisition to begin the works required. A bare metalstrip down was undertaken and coachwork repairs carried out to ahigh standard. Photographs with the file show the Alvis stripped tobare metal and entering the Aston Martin Heritage Centre works,Newport Pagnell where the panel work was completed.Virtually everything in regards to the coachwork, mechanical andtrim items have either been replaced or repaired. Even the radiohas been rebuilt and now receives FM stations. Although, prior tothe restoration, the engine started and ran well, it was decided toconvert the cylinder head to unleaded fuelspecifications. Whilst the cylinder head was removed, thebores were inspected and no wear was found; a tribute to thestandards that Alvis built their motor cars and to the somewhat lowmileage recorded. The restoration was carried out over several years and currentlyJTW 29 displays its original colour combinations of metallic beigecoachwork with beige leather trim. The paintwork was carried out byGrimshaw & Wake Ltd. of Hampton who have an outstandingreputation as first class coachwork specialists and the leatherupholstery was retrimmed by Trimming Services of Cobham. Theinterior, with its leather and walnut dashboard and fittings, arein fine order, as is the roof that operates easily and freely. Infact, the walnut trim is original and un-restored and remains inremarkable condition today. This fine example starts, runs andstops reassuringly, all four Dunlop calipers having been replaced, whilst the steering is operated with ease, even at low speeds, nodoubt due to its original power steering option being fitted. The history file is extensive and includes the alreadymentioned original purchase invoice, copy of the original style logbook, period factory warranty, letters of correspondence, worksinvoices, a works parts catalogue, photographs including periodblack and white images of the Alvis, an Alvis Owner's Clubvaluation of £85,000 dated November 2014, old MoT test certificatesand various magazine/newspaper articles of the marque. Althoughhaving a current MoT test certificate valid until October 2017, thevendor is keen to install confidence in any potential purchasers sothe Alvis will arrive at the sale with a fresh certificate. Thismost elegant of motor cars represents one of the finest and, mostimportantly, authentic T-Series Alvis's available on themarket.

Ferrari 456GT

Lot # 172 (Sale Order: 72 of 175)

Introduced at Garage Francorchamps, Belgium in 1992, the 456 was Ferrari's attempt to produce a motor car that was somewhat different from their usual offerings. The idea was to generate the space and comfort of a Gran Turismo (GT) whilst being the most powerful 2+2 in the world. The 456 GT incorporated features familiar to generations of Ferrari cognoscenti with the front-mounted four-cam V12, rear transaxle, tubular steel space frame chassis, and all-independent suspension remaining, whilst an electronically-controlled adaptive suspension and a six-speed gearbox made its first appearance. Power was supplied via the nearly 450 horsepower V12 that produced a massive 398 ft-lb of torque at 4,500rpm. Variable-ratio power steering, three-way adjustable suspension dampening, self-levelling rear ride height and a speed-activated rear spoiler ensure the handling is up to the performance. The interior was well appointed with features you expect from a luxury motor car. Aerodynamically efficient with a subtly beautiful curvaceous body, the 456 remained stable up to its maximum speed of around 190mph, a figure that made it the world's fastest production four-seater passenger car. This fine example has been owned by the vendor since 2013, prior to which, it had sadly been neglected as part of a disputed divorce case for a few years. It was then rescued and much time and financial input was expended with 'Autolink' in Newcastle, a favourite for Ferrari Owners Club members in the North East. Serviced regularly at 6,250 (JCT600), 12,500, 18,750 and 25,000 at Specialist Cars in Knutsford (including cam belts @25,000) with a subsequent service at 39,531 miles at Meridien Modena in Hampshire. Works included brand new tyres all round, a full gearbox re-build with new bearings, gearbox out and checked, brake lines replaced where required and brake discs and pads checked. A new radiator was fabricated, the clutch was examined with the gearbox out and the clutch plate re-lined, alternator inspected and re-built. The rear parcel shelf was also re-leathered and to fully finish the car, a re-spray was undertaken to restore the car to its current condition. Another service has been undertaken prior to the sale including spark plugs, belts and fluids etc. as well a new MoT test. These highly accomplished touring sportscars are extremely competent and can carry a family of four with ease. It is important however, when buying a V12 Ferrari, to be happy with its mechanical integrity and this has certainly had much attention in recent years. The private number-plate is also included in the sale. INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD NOTE THAT THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS ARE NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING AND WILL REQUIRE REPAIR, HISTORICS WOULD BE HAPPY TO ASSIST WITH THIS. YOU ARE ADVISED TO INSPECT FULLY PRIOR TO BIDDING. THE RESERVE HAS BEEN REDUCED ACCORDINGLY.

Packard Patrician 400 Saloon

Lot # 174 (Sale Order: 74 of 175)

Introduced in 1951, the Patrician was among the last new Packardmodels to emerge before the company's ill-fated merger withStudebaker almost four years later. Positioned as the luxurymaker's flagship saloon, its sturdy box-section chassis wasequipped with independent coil-sprung front suspension, a 'live'rear axle and hydraulic drum brakes. Complete with more chromeworkand trimmed to a higher standard than its humbler siblings, thePatrician also enjoyed a performance advantage. After WWII, themarket began to change; frequent re-engineering and annual stylingfacelifts became the norm as buyers became ever more fashionconscious. And while the USA's 'Big Three' motor manufacturingcorporations - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler - could affordfrequent re-tooling, independent Packard simply did not have thenecessary resources. Unable to satisfy the public's insatiableappetite for new designs, Packard lost ground to its chief rival,Cadillac, and by 1951 had slumped to 16th in the motormanufacturing league table. Nevertheless, there was an all-newline-up for 1951, albeit one that still lacked a modernoverhead-valve V-8 engine. This Packard Patrician is a righthand drive example and one thatpresents in excellent order throughout having been restored over anumber of years. The eight-cylinder 'Thunderbird' engine soundeddelightful when started and ran extremely smooth and quietly; weare advised the automatic transmission operates as it should. The two-tone blue and grey paintwork is in very good order and the'art-deco' interior, offering ample legroom, is exceptional. With bold chrome-work and cathedral-type rear lights, thestyling and size of this imposing Packard really has to be viewedto be fully appreciated. Supplied with a V5C registration documentand a current MoT test certificate, this is a rare opportunity topurchase such a well sorted example.

Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster

Lot # 175 (Sale Order: 75 of 175)

The E-Type Jaguar is, without doubt, one of the most significantclassic motorcars ever penned. Its flowing lines, created just byeye and intuition, caused the head of Ferrari to doubt himself andit instantly became the car to be seen in and coveted by millions, young and old. The series I was launched in the, arguably, itspurist form with, in 1968, the Series II following on.Modifications included open headlights without glass covers, awrap-around rear bumper, tail lights below the bumpers and upratedbrakes. The engine is easily identified visually by the change fromsmooth polished cam covers to a more 'ribbed' appearance. Theinterior and dashboard were also redesigned, with rocker switchesbeing substituted for toggle switches. This striking righthand drive (originally lefthand drive) E-Typeis believed to have been delivered new to California, where itdwelled in the garage of the first owner for the better part of twodecades. The second California owner would use the Jaguar sparinglybefore putting it up in long-term storage. The car remained in hisownership for many years until 2012, when a noted San Diego-areaJaguar specialist acquired the car and soon embarked on acomprehensive restoration. Although the car is reported to havebeen in good, original condition at the time, and the mileage ofjust over 84,000 miles was believed to be genuine, the E-TypeRoadster received new paint and upholstery to the highest standardsin black over red. The car's mechanical systems werecomprehensively restored as well, while a few tasteful upgradeswere added including a full stainless steel exhaust system andaluminium radiator for improved cooling.  Today this striking E-Type presents beautifully inside and out; ithas received the important 'shakedown' miles since the restorationand is a great looking example of the second generation E-Type.Supplied with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate and Certificateof Title from California, this has been priced extremelycompetitively.
