Triumph Stag

Lot # 129 (Sale Order: 29 of 175)

Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from, the Stag was styledby Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoqueconstruction, independent suspension, disc/drum brakes,power-assisted rack, and also the pinion steering and driveline ofthat saloon. The power plant, though, was an all-new overhead cam,V8 of 3000cc capacity fed by a pair of Stromberg carburettors andthe newcomer received a warm reception at the time of launch in1970. Very desirable, the Stag is well supported through variousclubs and specialist suppliers. First registered on the 1st May, 1972, this excellent examplehas the rarer and more desirable manual gearbox with overdrive. Thecar was completely rebuilt in 1999/2000 with the work carried outdocumented in a photo album. Also included is a large filecontaining details and invoices dating from 1980 through to todayalong with a V5 document, an MoT test certificate valid untilFebruary 2018. No expense has been spared to make the car a truepleasure to drive, however in the last year it has covered only 415miles and it is thought that a change of ownership will give thecar the use it deserves. With power steering, independentsuspension, electric windows, servo brakes and seating for four, this represents an accomplished sports tourer. Residing with thecurrent owner since 2012, this is a superb example may beconsidered one of the best on the market today.

Bentley Mk. VI Sports Saloon

Lot # 132 (Sale Order: 32 of 175)

As the country slowly reverted to a peacetime economy,Rolls-Royce moved its Motor Division out of Derby to a facility ithad established at Crewe in Cheshire for the purpose of buildingSpitfire engines. Pyms Lane was to become the longest ever servinghome to the marque; and it so remains today. The motormanufacturers of Great Britain woke up to a new reality, with acompletely new and ultra-punitive taxation culture - a directconsequence of the massive debt that the country had run up inorder to defeat fascism. In this austere climate, Rolls-Royce werefaced with a massive challenge to which they rose with great creditand foresight when they launched the Mk. VI. This model employed asix-cylinder 4¼ litre engine in a hefty chassis fitted withindependent front suspension. For the first time ever, theyproduced a model with a standard steel saloon body, althoughrolling chassis could be purchased and delivered to a coachbuildersto be fitted with a body designed to your personal specification,as every Bentley produced prior to 1940 had been. The great successof this model ensured sufficient breathing space for the parentcompany to re-establish its presence in the post-war motoringworld. The current vendor acquired this elegant example ofa standard steel saloon back in 2004, some 13 yearsago and has enjoyed its company ever since. Prior to thishowever, it was owned by an elderly gentleman, the late SydneyJones in Avon, who had recently had the interior renewed andbrightwork re-chromed. It was delivered from the factory, withmaroon coachwork, to Jack Barclay Ltd, London and thenceto Mr. R. Prichard-Jones. With a brief sojourn with DuncanHamilton  & Co., it made its way into the vendor'sextremely experienced hands. He then stripped the car to bare metaland repainted it to the classic Bentley colour scheme you seetoday of Masons Black over ivory. The engine came out and newpistons were fitted. After a re-bore and new crankshaft bearings, the car was re-assembled. It has always been servicedregularly and proved entirely reliable since. Presented withits factory records, a new MoT test certificate and a UK V5Cregistration certificate, this stylish and eminently useableclassic is sensibly priced and ready to be enjoyed.

The successor to the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT coupé was the1750 GT Velocé. It was fitted with a larger engine of 1779cccapacity rather than 1590cc of the earlier model. For marketingpurposes, the new GTVs were described as 1750s, a term that harkedback to the success of the 1750s of the 1930s. Amongst many detailchanges, the front panel now became flush with the bonnet andwings, eliminating the previous step front appearance of the SprintGT. Other stylistic differences included twin headlights set into amatt black grille, and in what became known retrospectively as theMk. I 1750, the front sidelight/indicators were incorporated intothe outer reaches of the bumper; later Mk. II 1750s had theirsidelight/indicator assemblies mounted on the front panel beneaththe headlights.  We are delighted to offer this Mk. I, righthand drive 1750 GTV.Originally sold in Cyprus in 1969, this GTV arrived on UK shorestwo years later in 1971. Between 2002 and 2003, a restoration wasundertaken and completed to a high standard as evident by thecondition displayed today. The current owner purchased the AlfaRomeo in 2005 and, whilst in his ownership, has been kept in ade-humidified garage. Also, anything required with regard tomaintenance has been carried out by one of the UK's leading AlfaRomeo specialists, Jamie Porter at the Alfa Workshop, Royston.Presented in Alfa Romeo Rosso, this 1750 GTV looks very attractiveand has benefitted from the addition of an Alfaholics fast roadsuspension kit and 14" replica GTA alloy wheels. Settle into thecorrect Mk. I seats and you are presented with a dished wood rimsteering wheel and instruments with odometer and rev. counter (withoil pressure gauge within) in twin binnacles in front of thedriver, the other auxiliary instruments being angled towards thedriver and are set in the centre console above the gear lever.Looking around the interior, the headlining is in good order as arethe wood facings upon the dashboard and centre console; in fact, the ambiance of this interior suggests that it is one of quality. On test, the engine started easily and soon warmed to normaltemperature. On a test drive, the Alfa Romeo felt assured with easygear changes and with the brakes pulling the car to a stop withconfidence. A well presented history file includes a UK V5registration document, old MoT test certificates and invoices. Weare advised that this Alfa Romeo will arrive at the sale with afresh MoT test certificate. This is an attractive Alfa Romeo Mk. IGTV, the model that is most sought after by the aficionados of themarque, certainly ticks many boxes in the desirability stakes and,we believe, is offered with a realistic and tempting estimate.

Porsche 356B Coupé

Lot # 134 (Sale Order: 34 of 175)

Porsche's 356 became a classic the day the first car left theproduction line and the ensuing years have only enhanced thelegend.  Continuous updates from the very earliest days of themodel and gradual replacement of its early Volkswagen-basedcomponents with parts from Porsche manufacture saw to this. These detail changes came frequently but major change was only madewhen necessary and after due consideration of their effect toimprove performance, ride, handling and the marque's enviablereputation of being able to produce sporting motorcars withcompetition-beating reliability.  After a significant updatingin 1955 with the 356A, the 356B was introduced in 1960, the firm'smost significant evolution yet. Motivated in part by increasinglydemanding safety regulations, the 356B had raised stronger bumpersand lifted headlights that noticeably altered the car's frontalappearance.  Vent windows in the doors and hinged rear windowsenhanced interior ventilation.  Up-rated Elfin brakes withcooling fins also benefited from air intakes below the headlightswhich channels cooling air to the front drums. This Porsche was imported from Oklahoma in 2013 by the vendorwho immediately started a total restoration project on her. Thebodywork was stripped, repaired or replaced as necessary;photographic evidence is available. The colour was changed fromchampagne to a more aesthetically pleasing slate grey and theinterior re-trimmed in contrasting red interior. Mechanically, this356 has been taken care of in every aspect; the engine was rebuiltby Chris Turner Porsche in London NW10 at a cost of £6,926, againphotographic evidence is available. A replacement gearbox has alsorecently been fitted; the fastidious vendor has been meticulous inkeeping all of the invoices and his total spend on this Porsche isquite significant, the condition of NWU 152A certainly reflects thelevel of investment. Unusually, the history from when the vehiclewas in the U.S. is also available and makes for interestingreading. This lefthand Porsche 356B Coupé is a superb example andis supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT testcertificate (no advisories) valid until 15th October 2017.

Ford Capri Mk. II 3000 Ghia

Lot # 136 (Sale Order: 36 of 175)

The Capri Mk. II, when replacing the Mk. I, was launched by Fordon 25th February 1974 and was in production until theend of 1978. The updated model received a significant change in thedesign in the form of changing the rear part of the vehicle body.It became more shallow improving the visibility out of the rearglass, as well as significantly increasing the capacity of theluggage compartment. Ford chose to make the new car more suited toeveryday driving with a shorter bonnet, larger cabin and theadoption of a hatchback rear door. This made it the first Ford tofeature a hatchback - at a time when the hatchback was becomingincreasingly popular in Europe after first being patented byRenault in the mid 1960s. By the standards of the mid 1970s, theCapri Mk. II was a very well evolved vehicle with very fewreliability issues. The Capri still maintained the largerectangular headlights, which became the easiest way to distinguishbetween a Mk. II and a Mk. III.Originally registered on 8th November, 1974, thisCapri 3000 Ghia is finished in blue with grey interior. Thestriking colour combination is complimented by a black vinyl roof-acommon fitment in the 70's and 80's. The vendor is an avid carcollector and is only selling this Capri due to lack of suitablestorage space. The engine note and performance of Fords three litreEssex engine is impressive even by today's standards, when mated toa manual gearbox such as GJF 83N is, suddenly this becomes a reallyinteresting and fun car to drive. A history folder containing mostof the previous MoT's accompanies this matching numbers Capri andconfirms the mileage to be correct. Supplied with a V5Cregistration document and a current MoT test certificate validuntil 12th March, 2018, we strongly recommend interestedparties to view this car in person to see for themselves thequality of this highly desirable Capri Ghia.

Ferrari 599 GTB

Lot # 137 (Sale Order: 37 of 175)

The 599's engine is derived directly from the Ferrari Enzo, which, just a few years earlier, had been acclaimed as the company's most technologically advanced supercar ever. The GTB can sprint from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds and the six-litre, V12 can produce 620bhp at 7,600rpm bringing the car to a speed of 205mph. Its acceleration was faster than the Enzo and even faster than the McLaren F1, partly in thanks to its superb traction control which was initially developed for the Scuderia's Formula One cars. Like its cousin, the F430, the 599 was the second Ferrari to wear the now trademark 'il manettino' dial on the steering wheel. This dial, with its name translating to 'little lever', features five settings to adjust the traction damper settings and to monitor the throttle mapping. This gives the driver the option of having both a docile driver-friendly car or a race set-up with breathtaking performance. Like all modern Ferraris, the 599 is just as luxurious as it is fast. The interior is spacious and comfortable with incredible attention to detail being paid throughout. Carbon fibre and aluminium are utilised on the dash, which features Enzo-styled instruments and a complex LCD display that allows the driver to access a multitude of settings and in-car information. The seats, developed by Recaro, are multi-functional and have adjustable pneumatic support for the passengers' hips and ribs, to provide a tight grip during high-speed road or circuit driving. This Rosso Scuderia Ferrari 599 GTB with Tan leather interior, the combination that many believe to be the very best, is in splendid condition throughout. Optional extras included carbon fibre driving zone, electric carbon fibre backed racing seats and carbon ceramic brakes. Servicing on this example has certainly not been taken lightly and this example comes with a full service including new clutch system performed in 2015, books and manuals are in the original leather bound case including the stamped service booklet at 5,114, 8,456, 15,568, 20,089, 30,374 and a recent service with GVE London in April 2017 at 34,000km. A Ferrari Certificate of Conformity, an MoT test certificate valid until October 2017 and a V5 registration document can also be found amongst the history paperwork on what can be considered a very desirable 599 GTB in beautiful condition.?

Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé

Lot # 138 (Sale Order: 38 of 175)

Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused asensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mphtop speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-lineperformance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was alot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owedmuch to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would beone of the last great sports cars developed directly from asuccessful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoquetub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular spaceframe extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was thesame 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, 'S' unit first offered as anoption on the preceding XK150. With a claimed 265 horsepower ontap, the E-Type's performance did not disappoint. Firstly, becauseit weighed around 500lb less than the XK150 and secondly, becauseaerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the D-Typeto create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever tograce a motor car. This stunning, early example from the second year of productionis finished in its rare and original colour scheme of black with ablack hide interior as confirmed by the accompanying Heritage TrustCertificate. Estimates suggest around 70 Series I E-Typesoriginally finished in black (including 4.2's) survive today; it isrefreshing to see this iconic shape in black.Built on 28th November 1962 and dispatched on15th December, the first owner, Jon Bondner of Berkeley,California, took delivery of the car through original distributorJaguar Cars of New York. The Heritage Trust certificate confirms that the engine blockand head are matching numbers completing the originality of thecar. In 2013-2014, the car underwent a comprehensive restorationbringing it to its current condition, with a photographic recordcontained in the cars history file. For the last few years, the carhas been part of a significant UK collection and is supplied withEU taxes paid documentation and a US Certificate of Title as wellas an Operating, Maintenance and Service handbook. Registration in the UK is a simple procedure and its new ownerbeing the first recorded keeper. A stunning and graceful example ofarguably the most desirable variant of the iconic E-Type.

Mitsubishi Evolution VIII GSR

Lot # 139 (Sale Order: 39 of 175)

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has had ten official versions todate; all use two litre, turbocharged engines and all-wheel drivesystems. February1995 saw the arrival of the Evolution III which had more aggressivestyling and improved air supply. The Lancer platform was completelychanged in 1996 with the engine and transaxle rotated 180° tobetter balance the weight and eliminate torque steer. The Evolution VI's changesmainly focused on cooling and engine durability with a largerintercooler and oil cooler, new pistons and new bodywork. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII was modified again in 2003,this time sporting 17" grey Enkei wheels, Brembo Brakes andBilstein shocks to handle traction and a five-speed manual gearboxwith 234hp to the wheels. Among theadditions for 1951 were the inclusion of vent windows in the doorsfor some added cabin airflow and the final year for a number ofchrome interior trim pieces such as the window handle knobs andwiper knobs.Manufactured in Baltimore, this 4400 Series Chevrolet wasimported into the UK in 1999 and a restoration project commenced. The bodywork was taken back to bare metal and any corrosion removedand re-fabricated. The Guards Red paintwork is to an excellentstandard and the interior has been trimmed in leather with newcarpets fitted. Mechanically, she has been very well cared for bythe fastidious vendor had a 'no expense spared' attitude whencarrying out the restoration resulting in a superb looking vehicleand one that is even better to drive. The 5733cc, V8 engine isaesthetically superb and runs even better. Supplied with a V5Cregistration document, this superb Chevrolet pick-up can bedescribed in one word 'stunning'.

BMW 3.0 CSL Lightweight Coupé Restoration

Lot # 143 (Sale Order: 43 of 175)

The European Touring Car Championship of the early 1970'sencouraged performance manufacturers to build some rare andexciting homologation specials, notably Ford with their Escort andCapri derivatives and BMW with their CSL. Standing for 'Coupe Sport Leicht', the BMW 3.0 CSL was indeedlight - having an aluminium bonnet, boot and doors combined with areduced trim saving a valuable 300lbs in excess weight. With poweras standard from the 3.0 straight six giving 206 bhp and astrong  aero package (front chin spoiler and rear boot lid lipspoiler), the 1,039 CSLs produced by BMW are now highly collectableand sought after, particularly rare original righthand drivefactory produced cars, such as this particular car. Just 500 CSL's were sold to the UK market and this is one of thoseoriginal few, found locked up in a barn the current vendor has goneto much length to ascertain the history of this rare BMW andthankfully traced the original build details from BMW. An emailfrom the BMW group has confirmed that the build date was the 16thNovember 1972 and was dispatched to the UK dealership on the 20thNovember where it was sold and registered on 18th May 1973. Theoriginal colour was Fjord metallic blue (paint code 037) but it isbelieved to have been re-painted by BMW from new in Verona Red forthe first owner, when spec'd new this CSL also CSL came equipt withRHD City Pack which included; Electric windows, PAS, Scheel sportsseats, Sports steering wheel, Alloy wheels, Aluminum bonnet/bootlid and door skins (spare steel bonnet is also included in thesale). This particular car also wears the lightweight sportsspoiler seen on so many CSLs, in homage to their Batmobile cousins, this because the last owner who bought the car in 1985 for theprincely sum of £2450 drove it locally and at sprint days atGoodwood. More recently this car has been laid up in a barn and is in needof full restoration, importantly all parts are believed to be withthe car and thus provides an ideal start point for what would be afabulous and rare car. The car we are told roles freely but theengine has not been turned or attempted to be having been drystored for well over 10 years. With prices for lightweight CSL'shaving soared recently this could provide the ideal opportunity topurchase a BMW and return it to its former glory whilst stillhaving a fast appreciating asset.?

Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible

Lot # 144 (Sale Order: 44 of 175)

Freshly restyled for 1961, Cadillac continued the trend towardscleaner, less fussy styling but there was still plenty of glitz andglamour about the latest model line-up. Notable features included anew-look full-width grille, boldly sculptured side moldings andsmaller rear fins. All 1961 Cadillacs rode on a 129.5" wheelbasechassis with just one powertrain option, the 390ci, V8 combinedwith GM's sophisticated Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Ratedat 325hp and fed by a four-barrel Rochester carburettor, the big V8offered plenty of lazy performance, while power brakes were alsostandard across the range, retaining the finned rear drums andvacuum-operated parking brake release system introduced theprevious season. Lavishly equipped, standard equipment includedpower steering, an external rear vision mirror, vanity mirror,dual-speed wipers and a choice of no less than eight interiorcolour combinations. Popular options included power windows, airconditioning, cruise control, power door locking system and six-waypower seats. More Americans aspired to own a Cadillac than anyother car back in the 1960s and having one parked in the drivewaywas confirmation you had made it. This stunning and rare 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz wasimported in 1963 and has remained in the UK since. The last ownerhas kept the car for the last 14 years. The car has everyconceivable extra and is reported to be corrosion free and insuperb condition. In recent years the owner has fully reconditionedthe car to a very high standard, both cosmetically andmechanically, using all original Cadillac components. Bills andreceipts show the expenditure of the refurbishment was over£25.000. The car is said to drive as it should and, "performssuperbly","...the only way to describe the drive is silky smoothand effortless." Operating entirely reliably, this car has beencherished and well loved. The electric roof performs perfectly andthe refurbished interior is superb as is the trunk area, the ownerreports. With only 1,500 examples of this model produced, it isindeed a rare opportunity, and with less than 150 cars survivingworldwide, it is believed this is just one of three examples in theUK. A wonderful and reliable example of true classic Americana tobe enjoyed and also a sound investment. Supplied with an MoT testcertificate valid until 1st March 2018, it is indeed awonderful car.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600 Rally Road

Lot # 147 (Sale Order: 47 of 175)

The first Giulia 105 series of motor cars, the Giulia Ti, wasintroduced to the motoring press at Monza on the 27th June 1962 inBerlina (saloon) form. Driven by the classic Alfa twin cam, enginecapacity was increased from its predecessor, the Giulietta, from1290cc to 1570cc and produced 92bhp in the new guise. The new caralso included a five speed column change gearbox, umbrellahandbrake and strip instrumentation. Designed by Dr. Orazio SattaPuglia, the initial look is of a somewhat square but compact motorcar however, look more closely; the detailed swaging along theroof, wings, and doors along with a subtle roof spoiler and Kammtail gave encouraging results in the wind tunnel. In 1965, at theGeneva Motor Show, the Giulia Super was introduced. Based on theTi, improvements included a floor change gearbox and centrallymounted handbrake as well as attractive round instruments withancillary gauges mounted centrally. Twin Weber carburettors werefitted and the power was increased to 112bhp. The Giulia Super is considered by many 'Alfisti' as the best Alfaof the period. This example owned for the last eight years, hasbeen a very successful historic rally car and makes a lovely roadcar. Offered in sky blue, this Giulia is largely standard withslightly up-rated suspension and brakes which has helped it win theTour Auto and, more recently, finish second in the Scottish Maltsrally whilst competitively taking part in many others.Over the past year the owner has found less time to use MDV 17Fso feels it is time to move it to a new home. Being very well knownin Rally circles, boasting a wealth of spares including theoriginal seats and having had a full engine rebuild just 200 milesago by Bob Dove, it certainly is an attractive proposition for bothroad and rally use and the vendor states he will be sad to see itgo. The history file with the car is, to say the least, comprehensive, with documentation including photos from rallies andrestoration, invoices from services and a hand-written history ofthe car from new. All accompanied by manuals, a V5C registrationdocument and an MoT test certificate valid until September2017.

Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (3.8 litre)

Lot # 148 (Sale Order: 48 of 175)

Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type wasnothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercarperformance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomerleft rivals reeling and customers clamouring, while early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori, amongst others, helped cement its reputation.Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle theengine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension(torsion-bar front / coil-sprung rear) rack and pinion steering andfour-wheel disc brakes, gave it excellent road holding and handlingcapabilities. Fed by triple SU HD8 carburettors and topped with a'straight port' DOHC cylinder head, its indomitable 3781ccstraight-six engine was quoted as developing some 265bhp and260lbft of torque. Allied to a four-speed Moss gearbox (withsynchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th), it reputedly enabled the E-typeto sprint from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and onto 150mph.Aesthetically beautiful yet stunningly quick, the E-type remainsfor many the ultimate production Jaguar. Originally dispatched from Jaguar Cars on 12th April1962 to their New York dealer, this E-Type was repatriated to theUK in 1991. The original registered keeper in the UK wasresponsible for importing the car from Florida and, after carryingout some fairly extensive restoration work and converting her torighthand drive, he enjoyed this Jaguar for some 21 years. Thecurrent vendor purchased the car in 2012 and has carried out asignificant amount of mechanical work on VSU473, including a fullengine rebuild, new clutch and overhauling the brake callipers.Currently in need of some refreshing of the paintwork and trim, although it must be noted that she is in perfectly a useablecondition, she is currently MoT'd. Supplied with a Jaguar HeritageCertificate confirming this is a matching numbers example, including the original Moss gearbox, a good history folder withplenty of receipts accompanies this Series I E-type. Recent salesof such examples in comparison indicate this 3.8 roadster to bevery attractively estimated.

Shown at the October 1966 Earls Court Motor Show alongside thetechnically advanced four-wheel drive FF, the Touring ofMilan-designed Interceptor was quite a sensation and received muchpraise. Both new cars had the 330bhp, Chrysler V8 engine coupled to aTorqueflite three-speed automatic gearbox and fashionable Rostylewheels were fitted. Originally supplied by Charles Follett Ltd to Mr. G.M.
