Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 1

Lot # 226 (Sale Order: 26 of 139)

The Lancia Delta was first shown in Frankfurt Motor Show in 1979. The Delta is best known for its World Rally Championship career in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when it dominated. The first Evoluzione cars were built at the end of 1991 and through 1992. These were to be the final homologation cars for the Lancia Rally Team; the Catalytic Evoluzione II was never rallied by the factory. In order to improve the handling, the Evoluzione had a wider track front and rear than earlier Deltas. In order to enclose this track in the bodywork, the wide arches were extended even further and in the process also became more rounded. The front strut top mounts were also raised in height in the quest for more grip: this then necessitated a front strut brace to control the forces thus generated. External changes included: new grilles in the front bumper to improve the air intake for engine compartment; a redesigned bonnet with new lateral air slats to further assist under bonnet ventilation; an adjustable roof spoiler above the tailgate to assist in competition; new five-bolt wheels derived from the rally cars; and finally, the rear of the car was changed with only one exhaust pipe now showing. The new Integrale retained the four-wheel drive layout: an epicyclical centre diff with torque splitter, Ferguson viscous coupling and Torsen rear differential. The engine, although technically the same as the earlier 16V cars, was remapped to give 210bhp at 5750rpm. These improvements were aimed at, and did change, the cars' handling potential, with the new car being able to travel 5% faster over rally sections both tarmac and gravel. The result was even greater driver confidence when driving in normal road conditions. This Lancia Integrale Evo 1 was recently imported to the UK from Austria where it had been in a private collection for the last twenty years. After arriving here, this Delta has been fully checked through including having a cam belt service, new exhaust system and the suspension has been rebuilt with new shock absorbers and final edition road springs as fitted to the last of the Evo II (parts supplied by Walkers Garage). Other works carried out to the cosmetics of the car included refurbishment of the wheels and any minor paint rectification required followed by a layer of Williams Ceramic Coat protection. Finished in, the very rare, Derby Green metallic with grey alcantara Recaro interior, this excellent example is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2017, the original registration documents and the handbook pack including original manuals. Here is an opportunity to purchase a beautifully sorted and iconic Evo 1. Fresh examples such as this have become much sought after classic cars offering iconic WRC looks and driving experience. ?

Audi Quattro Competition Coupé

Lot # 227 (Sale Order: 27 of 139)

Few motorsport images are quite as evocative as the legendary period of Group B; flying machines spitting stones and belching flames as they skirted trees and rocks at breakneck speeds with crowds only inches away. The ever more powerful cars hurtled their drivers in increasingly lighter and more delicate evolutions of cars towards immovable objects - an act which is some cultures would probably be akin to ritualistic suicide. By 1985 the writing was on the wall; it was a deadly sport that needed to be reined in. But perhaps more than any other period, this is the time that rally fans and motorsports fans in general identify as one of the most memorable and important periods in racing history. Obviously, the big winner of the period from a reputation standpoint was Audi. The car that helped to define and end the period of wild turbocharged excess, the Quattro has obviously been the spawn of many tributes, such as this Hannu Mikkola Group 4 specification example. Supplied with a fully seam-welded shell and FIA roll-cage, rear firewall, sport Quattro bonnet and high level boot spoiler, this striking evocation also benefits from Brembo brakes, Brembo slave and master cylinders, a limited slip differential and a 3" stainless steel exhaust. The suspension is made up from coil-over units with Sport Quattro arms and aluminium strengthening bars, all fitted to Speedline alloy wheels. Power comes from a big-turbo powerplant with Lumenition engine management, Green injectors, uprated fuel pumps with forged pistons and an aluminium sump. All cooling, as you would expect, utilises a front-mounted oil cooler, large radiator and connected with a braided hose kit. It not only looks the part but has the potential to deliver on its promises…

Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG F1

Lot # 228 (Sale Order: 28 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL-Class model name before being replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two door convertible sports cars featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL class, although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 (a highly tuned version of the SL500) with each engine individually hand assembled and signed by the technician. The F1 package enhanced an already formidable weapon, denoted by the term, 'P30 AMG Performance Pack' in the build specification, there are many pretenders out there but without 'P30' in history, walk away. The package includes the AMG Limited Slip Differential, AMG Compound Braking System, AMG Track-Calibrated Suspension (stiffer springs), AMG leather/alcantara Performance Steering Wheel and a top speed of 174mph. This immaculate 2007 example is the final edition of the model and highly sought-after and also benefits from the SL65 front end and vents. The interior has the Command system for audio and navigation as well as an additional 'Carbon Pack'. The vendor searched carefully for the correct car to include in his collection and ensured that the service history was up to date with the correct eight stamps and undertaken by Mercedes-Benz main agents. The Mercedes-Benz warranty is still in force until November, 2016 as is the MoT test certificate. A superb, low-mileage example, inside and out.

AC Ace Brooklands

Lot # 229 (Sale Order: 29 of 139)

The AC Ace Brooklands was launched in 1993 following two previous concept cars of 1986 and 1991, the Brooklands Ace underwent small scale production until 1997 when it received a facelift and reengineering under AC's new owners and was relaunched. The Brooklands Ace traces its history back to the 1986 concept car called the Ace of Spades that featured a high proportion of Ford parts including the 2.9 litre, V6 engine and four-wheel drive system. It underwent significant development before reappearing in 1991 with a new design by IAD, a stainless steel chassis and a Ford 3.0, V6 engine. The second prototype was a standard two-seater, dropping the 2+2 design of the Ace of Spades but retained the stainless steel chassis. In 1993 the production model was launched with a new specification and went into small scale production for two years before AC Cars folded in 1996. The production model is powered by a five litre, V8 engine from Ford which it shared with the AC Cobra producing 225bhp. The final version included an electric hood mechanism but the pop-up headlights from the earlier prototype had been abandoned but the aluminium body and stainless steel chassis was kept. Production ended with 46 of the original versions made between 1993 and 1996. This 1996 AC Ace Brooklands is one of the last series one cars built before the change of company ownership in 1997, this one owner example was purchased new by the vendor in 1996, fitted with the stainless steel chassis and aluminium bodywork and is fitted with the five litre, V8 Ford engine has only covered 6,015 miles from new. Finished in red with tan leather interior, this AC Ace is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2017. Being one of the 46 cars built, these powerful 1990's sports cars rarely come to market and ones that are in perfect condition are highly sort-after for collections or a ready to use rare classic.

Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster

Lot # 230 (Sale Order: 30 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954 with perhaps the most influential model being the W113 Pagoda of 1963. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, finally becoming the 280SL. The W113 was replaced by the W107 in 1971 and as the engines became larger, the bodywork and weight of the cars also increased, as so often happens in mid-life! The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, high quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance. The genius soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. Of all the engine offerings the 280 remains the most sought after with the smaller 2.8 litre engine offering plenty of power but with the advantage of less weight and this improved handling. Offered with beautiful and almost unmarked Birchwood green metallic coachwork complemented by a near flawless biscuit trim, this great 280SL Roadster has covered just 66,000 miles from new and has benefitted from recent cosmetic work including a full re-spray to a very high standard in the original colour giving us an example that is ready for the summer and hours of motoring enjoyment. Accompanied by a MoT test certificate valid until March 2017, a history file including comprehensively stamped service booklet including last service at 66,000 miles, a wealth of old MoT test certificates helping verify the mileage, plenty of Mercedes-Benz sales invoices, original owner's manual and handbooks and even the original spare key, this example is a rare find indeed. This plucky 280 is a pleasure to drive with its lighter nose and should, in our opinion, see significant investment potential for years to come with other similar models on offer at double the price.?

Aston Martin Vanquish (V12)

Lot # 231 (Sale Order: 31 of 139)

Unveiled at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, the Ian Callum designed Vanquish was an instant sales success and its choice of transport for James Bond only added to the appeal. Every car enthusiast throughout the world wanted the successor to the Virage. The 6.0 litre, V12 produced engine pushed out 450bhp, mated to a 'flappy paddle' electro-hydraulic manual gearbox, fly by wire throttle and, of course, looks to die for! It was no surprise that the car was the top of the Aston Martin range throughout its seven years of production. The Aston Martin legend as the ultimate British sports car was set to continue. Stunning in its original colour scheme of Skye Silver with a Charcoal and Ivory leather interior and covering just 27,000 miles from new, this brooding example is presented with a main dealer service history from JCT600. It has only three former keepers recorded and was first registered on 29th April 2002. There are ten service stamps in the service book, almost all from JCT600. This Vanquish has been maintained to the highest standard as part of a large private collection and remains in superb condition as it has been in storage for a number of years in a heated environment and used sparingly. Supplied with its original aluminium-bound owners-pack, service books, current MoT certificate and dynamic handling pack, the car is reported to drive beautifully and we welcome any inspection of this vehicle. Already starting to appreciate, the Vanquish is tipped as a long term investment classic by all knowledgeable professionals. Interested parties should note that this registration number is to be retained and an age related one issued instead.

Ford Cortina GXL Convertible by Crayford

Lot # 232 (Sale Order: 32 of 139)

Crayford coachbuilders had hardly got into their stride with the Mk. I convertible with only around fifty being built on C and D registrations when Ford told Crayford there would be an 'all new' Cortina for the October 1966 Motor Show. Crayford did not want to wait up to a year to develop a Mk. II Cortina so they asked Ford if they could supply a car now for development work but were told that no pre-production cars where available and, in any case, the car was top secret until press day. They did however agree to ship, in great secrecy, a Mk. II two-door shell and all the parts in kit form. Crayford's directors and staff then began building the car at the Westerham factory and with only two weeks to go Director Jeff Smith set about converting the car into a Crayford convertible, virtually single-handed, working night and day on the project. The result was, that when the show opened on press day, The Ford Motor Company had on their stand No.143, an entire range of six, all new, Cortina saloons and GT's - but not far away on stand No.173, surrounded by a bevy of trendy dolly girls dressed in black and white chequered mini dresses, was a shiny metallic blue mink Crayford Cortina Mk. II with a white pvc hood. The Crayford Cortina MK. II had become Crayford's best ever selling car but in 1970 the Ford Motor Company introduced an all new Mk. III Cortina with its distinctively American coke bottle look. Crayford followed on with a Mk. III Crayford Cortina which also took on a new direction, it was not even called a convertible, but a "Sunshine Conversion" in its press literature. Like French and Italian predecessors, it had a full length sunroof that folded all the way back down to the boot. Retaining its side -windows and roof gutters helped maintain more of the convertible's upper body strength. All Mk. I and II cars had to be stripped completely internally and then interiors rebuilt after the conversions, this was an expensive process that kept production down to two cars a week. These special Crayford Convertibles make hens-teeth look rather commonplace, to find one in its original specification and fully restored is a treat indeed. Recorded on the Crayford register, this pristine example comes with a good history including photographs and bills for its restoration by Motorline of Sussex. Complete with a Mohair hood and new carpets, you will find the underside undersealed and a brand new clutch installed. With just three thought to be left in circulation, this would generate enormous interest at any Ford meet.

Land Rover Defender 90 County Td5

Lot # 233 (Sale Order: 33 of 139)

The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. The County 4x4s were sold as multi-purpose family vehicles featuring improved interior trim and more comfortable seats. The Tdi engine finally allowed the Defender to cruise comfortably at high speeds, as well as tow heavy loads speedily on hills while still being economical. In 1998, the Defender was fitted with an all-new 2.5-litre, five-cylinder in-line turbo/diesel engine, badged the Td5. This striking example was once the property of the Land Rover Special Vehicles department as all vehicles from there carried 'TOA' on their number plate and was is thought, though not confirmed, to be the Tomb Raider developmental vehicle. It has every conceivable option fitted including full external roll-cage, roo-bars and full length roof rack. Spot lights, side steps, all-terrain tyres and four fold-down, side-facing rear seats. Owned by the vendor for the last five years and part of a private collection, this completely usable example with particularly low mileage, presents in good order throughout and comes complete with a full 12 month MoT test certificate, UK V5C and owners pack. Interested parties should note that this registration number is to be retained and (probably) the original 'TOA' numberplate issued instead.

Morris Minor Ex Scotland Yard Panda Police Car

Lot # 234 (Sale Order: 34 of 139)

The Morris Minor was a British economy car that debuted at the Earl's Court Motor Show on 20th September 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, over 1.3 million examples were manufactured from 1948 to 1971. Initially available as a two-door saloon and convertible, the range was subsequently expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950 and a wood-framed estate, the Traveller, plus the panel van and pick-up truck variants in 1952. This example was initially dispatched from the factory to Scotland Yard and is no less than a deluxe model. Not only distinctive because of the livery, it is in exceptional condition. Quite recently, the vehicle has been treated to a bare shell restoration; the details for this are provided along with vast amount of paperwork kept in chronological order by the previous owner who had the car for some nineteen years. Present is a linen look headliner for access to mount the police roof box; it is currently un-mounted to give the new owner the opportunity to mount it with magnets. The 1098cc engine starts immediately and runs smoothly. We are advised she drives well and is supplied with a V5 registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until September 2016 and a history file including a list of all previous owners' names and the time they kept the vehicle. With a heritage certificate present as proof of the provenance, this is a Morris Minor that will create interest wherever she appears for more reasons than one!

Range Rover Classic (four-door)

Lot # 235 (Sale Order: 35 of 139)

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and while certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models was not designed as a luxury-type 4x4; the early Range Rovers had basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors; air-conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The original Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. This very early four-door was initially built in Solihull between 15th and 25th February 1982 and was despatched to Appleyard Farm Services Ltd, Ripon, Yorkshire, on 1st March. It was first registered on 11th November 1982 and is still on its original registration plate, all documented with accompanying BHIHT Heritage Certificate. Presented in Sahara Dust with Bronze Teddy Bear trim. it was fitted with Fairey overdrive unit which is functioning correctly. The interior is completely original including rather unusually, the headlining. Having been Ziebart rust proofed from new, the condition is exceptional with the original Ziebart sticker still in the rear window. Recent maintenance includes new rear shock absorbers, exhaust, fuel pump, under bonnet soundproofing and oem radiator. Documentation accompanying the vehicle includes correspondence from BL Cars Limited regarding the Supercover warranty, sales brochure, original handbook, radio instructions, and sales invoice from the Land Rover Centre Huddersfield, in 2006, showing 38,771 miles, plus supporting MoT test history to verify the current mileage of 57,000. One of the best examples we have come across and certainly worth of the 'Classic' badge.

Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 Elegance

Lot # 236 (Sale Order: 36 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a mid-size, rear-wheel drive luxury coupé and, while it was based on the W202 and W203 platforms of the C-Class, some styling cues were closer to that of the E-Class. The CLK 320 Coupé was introduced in the 1997 model year, powered by a 3.2 litre, V6 engine with the convertible available from 2000. In late 1999 for the 2000 model year, a facelift was launched which incorporated, amongst others, a revised instrument cluster with a bigger multifunction display, steering wheel with controls for the multifunction display and radio, tiptronic automatic gearbox, revised bumpers and new side skirts and side-view mirror-mounted indicators. This Elegance specification 320CLK Automatic with the desirable V6 engine is offered in silver with a grey leather interior, blue mohair hood, wood-rimmed standard steering wheel and is in very good order throughout. Having covered 67,000 miles, it benefits from a full Mercedes-Benz service history backed up by service and owner's manual; it was serviced by the main dealer at Gatwick in 2015. The front seats are memory items and parking sensors can be founds front and rear. There are power fold wing mirrors and recently refurbished alloy wheels combined with new springs. Both sets of keys are present as is the original first aid kit. The vendor describes it as, "so quiet and smooth, it's a dream in the summer". Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Roadster

Lot # 237 (Sale Order: 37 of 139)

The Mercedes R107 was launched in 1971 and production continued through to 1989, a hefty 18 years; the longest single series ever produced by the firm besides the G-Class utility vehicle. The car was essentially a two-seater sports car although a small seating arrangement was available behind the front seats. Mercedes-Benz offered a number of engine choices over the years, the first cars in 1971 being fitted with the 350 engine, a V8 3.5-litre unit. By 1973, a larger 4.5-litre V8 was available, constructed primarily for the US market. The SL Roadster has since become the epitome of how a luxury roadster should look and is as popular today as when first launched. Presented in brown with contrasting cream leather interior, this lovely four owners' vehicle has been in current ownership since 1983 and always been garaged. Having covered a mere 86,000 miles, equal to just 2,150 miles a year and offered with its original hardtop, this example comes with a great history file and we are informed performs very well. Both gearbox and engine are said to be in good order. This example has been kept original with no signs of restoration but plenty of confidence in its previous owners' care. Offered with a new MoT test certificate and V5 registration document, this is a great opportunity to own a original example of a summer Roadster.?

Daimler XJ6 Series III Vanden Plas

Lot # 238 (Sale Order: 38 of 139)

Jaguar/Daimler refreshed its six-cylinder XJ saloon and Daimler Sovereign range in 1973 with the introduction of the XJ6 and Daimler Sovereign Series II. The new cars featured a sleeker new body shell which had a slimmer front grille, new front air intake below the bumper, new lights and a revised interior. At first, the short and long wheelbase versions were available, however all cars after 1975 carried the long wheelbase and were, once again, powered by the 4.2 litre, XJ unit. Presented in resplendent burgundy with contrasting beige leather hide, this beautiful example has been meticulously cared for by a fastidious owner who serviced all fluids weekly regardless of cost. Covering 750 motorway miles a week, the owner decided to opt for an expensive LPG conversion so that he could use his beloved XJ6 as a daily commute. With four recent new tyres and new stainless steel exhaust system, this series III could be considered one of the coolest motorway mile crunchers and is certainly more fun than Mr. Mondeo. The new owner may well wish to give the car a more relaxed lifestyle, however, which the smooth running XJ would suit perfectly. The vendor describes the car as an owner's dream and is only selling due to a change of work circumstances meaning he no longer has a garage to keep the car in. Why not sample a touch of 1980s luxury and, at 'no reserve', this could be yours at a fraction of the cost of any modern Euro-box.

Porsche 944 S2

Lot # 239 (Sale Order: 39 of 139)

The Porsche 944 was built from 1982 to 1991 on the same platform as the 924. The 944 was intended to last into the 1990s but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead which replaced the 944. The 944 was a successful model and was available as both a coupé and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. In mid-1985, the 944 underwent significant changes. These included a new dashboard together with new door panels, embedded radio antenna as well as some mechanical changes. Also included was a larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche Hi-Fi sound system and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle to reduce noise and vibration. The numbers built, reflecting the popularity of the model, made it one of the most successful cars in Porsche's history. This Porsche was originally registered on 10th March, 1989 and has recently been re-commissioned after a spell in storage. The current vendor has enthusiastically invested time and finances to ensure this 944 S2 presents in good condition. The blue coachwork has been 'refreshed' in places to a good standard and the matching velour interior trim is virtually unmarked. Supplied with the original handbooks, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 10th January 2017, it is offered without reserve and could well prove to be a bargain.

Lamborghini Gallardo

Lot # 240 (Sale Order: 40 of 139)

The Gallardo was manufactured by Lamborghini from 2003 to 2013 and is their best-selling model with 14,022 being built throughout its lifetime with the last Gallardo rolled off of the production line in November 2013. The first generation Gallardo came with a 4961cc, V10 engine and offered two choices of transmission, a conventional six-speed manual transmission and an advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled, semi-automatic, which Lamborghini abbreviates to 'E-Gear' although the purist will generally prefer the manual option. Interestingly yellow Gallardo's have been 'temporary' police cars for the Metropolitan Police in London, one in 2005 and one in 2006 for specific publicity events. The 2006 vehicle was seen at the start of the Gumball Rally. Both vehicles were loaned by Lamborghini London and were fitted with yellow and blue 'Battenberg' markings, police logos and a small blue light-bar. This striking example, presented in black with a black leather interior, has recently undergone a period of re-commissioning by Ferrari and Lamborghini specialist, Karl Verdi, in London. This includes a reconditioned starter motor, a full service and a new MoT test certificate. The condition of the vehicle is now thought to be sound and reliable. Lamborghini London also supplied and fitted a new battery in March of this year. The history is sparse although Lamborghini were able to verify the car and is initial registration date and for two years from 2014/5, it was looked after by supercar specialists, Torque Developments International in Thurrock, Essex. Highly competitively priced, this Lamborghini has the pedigree and styling to ensure interest for years to come.

Lancia Fulvia Sport 1600 Zagato

Lot # 241 (Sale Order: 41 of 139)

The Lancia Fulvia was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 and produced until 1976. Fulvias are notable for their role in motorsport history including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972. On testing it in 1967, Road & Track summed up the Fulvia as "a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force". The Fulvia was available in three variants: Berlina four-door saloon, two-door coupé, and Sport, an alternative fastback coupé designed and built by Zagato on the coupé floorpan. Introduced in 1967 with the 1,298cc (87bhp) engine, the Zagato was later offered with the 1.6-litre 115bhp HF unit, a sparkling combination with a top speed approaching 120mph. A five-speed gearbox was standard equipment from 1971. Production ceased after Zagato had manufactured around 7,000 cars, a mere 800 of which were the ultimate 1.6-litre version. Lighter and more nimble than the standard-bodied cars, the Sport distinguished itself in competition, particularly in long distance events. Fulvia Sport Zagatos scored highly in the Sebring 12 Hours and Daytona 24 Hours (where a Sport earned a class win in 1969). Ex-works HF rally cars aside, the Sport Zagato is the most desirable and collectible of all the Fulvias and undeniably one of the most striking designs of its era. This rare 1600 Sport has recently undergone a restoration and as a result the engine, chassis and transmission are described condition wise as being 10 out of 10. Finished in the classic colour scheme of red with a contrasting black interior it is supplied with Italian paperwork and original documents from its manufacture in 1973. This fantastic Zagato-bodied pocket rocket is rare and highly collectible; with only 800 produced and much fewer in existence today, let alone in the condition of this fine example, this particular car has to be the ultimate 1600 Zagato.

Porsche 911 SSE 'Supersport'

Lot # 242 (Sale Order: 42 of 139)

This SSE or Supersport was supplied by Porsche and was based around the Turbo model, it is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963 prior to being replaced by the more complicated 964 series. These final cars were the most flexible and usable of Butzi Porsche original design with the all-alloy, flat six engine which had been fuel injected since 1971. It received a final enlargement to 3164cc, giving an extremely torquey 231bhp, enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 litre Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche legendary build quality, ensures that these classics are long-lasting. With this reportedly being one of just 34 righthand drive Coupés ever built, it is a rare beast and the quality of this example can immediately be seen upon inspection. This beautifully SSE presented in near perfect bronze coachwork with burgundy contrasting leather has been owned by its enthusiast owner for 20 years. In this time, the vendor has lavished the car with everything necessary to ensure it remains in the very best of condition. Despite being garaged for much of its life, the decision was made a few years back to ensure that this rare SSE would continue to be treasured by him and any future owners and a cosmetic overhaul was undertaken. This was no slap-dash cosmetic restoration; new genuine Porsche front wings and tail wing were ordered just to start with and some £14,000 later, the car went for a full re-spray in its original colour before the wheels were fully refurbished to a high standard. The vendor is so pleased with the results; he openly admits that it took pride of place in his garage. It has since only seen the road on high days and holidays to keep it in a condition it has now become accustomed to. The history file with the car is equally as impressive; countless MoT test documents are accompanied by a comprehensively stamped history file from many specialists and main dealers in the original service booklet. Receipts for all recent works, many carried out by a renowned specialist in West Sussex, are also present. With an MoT test certificate valid until May 2017 and only a reported 34 of these cars being built to this specification, this represents an opportunity to acquire the rarest of variants, a genuine 80's wide-bodied Supersport.?

Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda

Lot # 243 (Sale Order: 43 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz W113 is a two-seat roadster/coupé, introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show and produced from 1963 through to 1971. It replaced both the legendary 300 SL (W198) and the 190 SL (W121). The W113 SL was developed under the auspices of Mercedes-Benz Technical Director Fritz Nallinger, Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut and Head of Styling Friedrich Geiger. The lead designers devised its distinctive, patented, slightly concave hardtop which inspired the 'Pagoda' nickname. All models were equipped with an inline-six cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. The bonnet, boot lid, door skins and tonneau cover were made of aluminium to reduce weight. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. The styling of the front, with its characteristic upright Bosch headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel, paid homage to the then already legendary 300SL roadster. Although often overshadowed by the 280SL, the 2.3 litre engine runs on four crankshaft main bearings instead of seven, resulting in a more free revving power source with greater versatility. This made the 230SL ideal for rallies and touring with Mercedes-Benz entering three rallies in period with Pagodas and used 230SLs in all of them, including a victory in the gruelling 6,600km Spa-Sofia-Liège Rally in 1963. This stunning lefthand drive 230SL with automatic gearbox is immaculately presented in jet black with ivory interior. Imported in good original condition from the U.S. in 2010, it has been well maintained and comes with the original Becker radio. In 2014, the current owner employed the marque specialist Britwell Autos, to thoroughly prepare the car for reliability, performance and comfort. The car was to be tested and retested until faultless. The reason for this exacting requirement was that the owner had offered his son the use of the car to tour Italy on a three week honeymoon. During the trip the car, affectionately named Freida, encountered everything from slow moving traffic in the extreme heat of summertime Florence, long drives in Tuscany and gruellingly steep climbs high up into the Dolomite mountains. It performed faultlessly throughout the memorable trip attracting attention from onlookers and car enthusiasts alike. Extensive work was carried out in 2014 and included a full service, new radiator and hoses, new timing chain, complete overhaul of the brakes, new kingpins and overhaul of suspension and steering to achieve perfectly smooth and accurate driving, servicing the gearbox and fine adjustment to sensors as well as re-conditioning both the alternator and starter motor. After the Italian honeymoon tour, the car was professionally stored in Italy until August 2015 prior being driven from Milan to the UK by the vendor. The journey involved effortlessly crossing the steep Swiss mountains and enjoying long drives through Germany and France to arrive at the vendor's home in Oxfordshire with the car, once again, operating faultlessly. Since returning from Italy, although the car was free of any damage and without any visible corrosion, the fastidious vendor decided to bring the paintwork back up to perfect condition. In early 2016, the car's bodywork was completely prepared and all paintwork refinished to the original Mercedes-Benz colour specification using the latest paint materials and lacquers to achieve an exceptional standard of presentation. The car comes with a detailed history file containing several invoices to support the extensive expenditure of substantial mechanical works, V5C registration document, a full years' MoT (with no advisories) a factory hardtop, spare wheel and cover, travelling small spares kit, dust cover, a Mercedes-Benz 230SL handbook and a certificate of authentication issued on 5th May 2010 by the Homologation Department of Mercedes-Benz UK Limited. This is one of the best presented and well-prepared Pagoda's we have had the pleasure of offering and is the perfect car to enjoy the delights of European touring adventures.

Alfa Romeo GTA Evocazione

Lot # 244 (Sale Order: 44 of 139)

The Alfa Romeo 105 series coupé, needs little introduction, being known as one of the best looking and handling classic saloon cars of the period. With the genuine GTAs and GTAm models now fetching stratospheric prices, it is no surprise that many road cars, have been modified, with varying degrees of quality, to emulate these of the road and track. Recently imported from Sweden, this GTA Evocazione was originally manufactured as a 1600 GT Junior in 1974. Since then, this 105 Series Bertone coupé has undergone extensive works that has transformed it into the step fronted GTA you see presented today. The step front conversion included an aluminium front panel and aluminium front wings, GTA rear wheel arches, and a riveted aluminium spare wheel well, as per the original cars. The engine is a 2.0 litre unit, fuelled by twin Weber carburetors mated to a five speed gearbox with a limited slip differential final drive. The suspension includes Red Koni shock absorbers at the front with Extron springs. The striking coachwork is complimented by the Technomagnesio wheels, these magnesium wheels having cost the equivalent of £3,500 in 1997. The interior presents very well and includes a set of period style bucket seats. The large history file includes a photographic record of the works, Swedish MoT test certificates, the original sales invoice from 1974, many invoices and a picture of the car on the front cover of a Swedish Alfa Romeo Owner's Club magazine. The odometer records a total of 142,829km that is equivalent to approximately 88,750 miles. A NOVA certificate also accompanies the car and UK import duties have been paid. The vendor will ensure that the car arrives at the sale with an MoT test certificate and is willing to UK register the car on behalf of a new owner if they so wish. This Alfa Romeo GTA Evocazione is certainly, not only attractive, but also a competent performer.

Bentley Continental R

Lot # 245 (Sale Order: 45 of 139)

Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950's as well as the Turbo R of the 1980's. Bentley's 1980's resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products; however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990's. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph. This 1993 registered Continental R is finished in British Racing Green with a contrasting magnolia trim piped in Spruce Green and with Spruce Green carpets. The dark walnut facia, waist rails and centre console are synonymous with such a luxury marque. Aesthetically, a Continental R is a beautiful design but this example is further enhanced by the fitment of a chrome radiator grille and matrix. Supplied with a V5 registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until November this year and a service history substantiating the low mileage, this represents excellent value in comparison to the price when new. To drive a Continental R is a memorable experience; this car represents an opportunity to acquire an extremely fine example of a superb motorcar.

Alvis TD21 Fixedhead Coupé

Lot # 246 (Sale Order: 46 of 139)

The Alvis TD21 was built between 1958 and 1963 and was an updated version of the TC which was liked for its style and performance but passenger and luggage accommodation were unsatisfactory. Accordingly the amalgamated firm of Mulliner Park Ward, by now a Rolls-Royce subsidiary, was approached to re-design the body to meet with British market requirements. The result was the TD21 which was introduced late in 1958. Park Ward's re-design of the body retained a superficial resemblance to Hermann Graber's original but allowed greater room; especially in the rear and better luggage capacity. A car with manual transmission was tested by the British magazine, The Motor, in 1960 and had a top speed of 103mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 13.5 seconds. A fuel consumption of 20.2 miles per gallon was recorded and cost £2,827 including taxes. This beautiful example of the TD21 is finished in Burgandy with sumptuous beige leather interior and excellent wood dash. Originally sold to the UK, where it resided for much of its life, it was purchased in 1998 by a French owner, Mr. Goris, who took very good care of the coupé which can be demonstrated by the comprehensive history file. The car was then sold to a wealthy French tycoon, Mr. Jacques Chevalier, who used the car purely at his holiday home in the south of France. This lovely and well maintained example has recently been repatriated and undergone a good cosmetic restoration. We are informed the engine is running well and drives as it should. This is a fantastic opportunity to own a quintessential English classic, in beautiful condition and offered with an MoT test certificate valid until May 2016 and original parts catalogues. This example is currently French registered but is NOVA approved and applying for a UK V5 would be a formality which we could assist with if required. *Full photos to follow shortly?

Daimler E20 Limousine

Lot # 247 (Sale Order: 47 of 139)

The E20 was manufactured between 1935 and 1939. It offered the choice of coachbuilt Saloon, Sports Saloon, Fixedhead Coupé and Drophead Coupé bodies on a notably stiff box section chassis that featured integral lubrication and jacking systems. The model was powered by an OHV straight-six engine with output of 19.3HP - sufficient for a top speed of almost 70mph. This was mated to a four-speed pre-selector gearbox via Daimler's patented fluid flywheel. Suspension was by semi-elliptic springs and beam axles all round and braking by Girling servo-assisted drums. The total production of E20s was some 873, of which some 35 are known to have survived, making it a rare car today. Daimlers were the sole royal appointment cars up to 1950 and this magnificent 1936 example is very much in this tradition. Originally registered on 29th July 1936, this Daimler has only had two keepers throughout its 80 years on the road and has covered the remarkably low mileage of 79,920. The vendor is a very knowledgeable classic car enthusiast and he has looked after her exceedingly well, keeping the car in a warm, heated environment. Space, comfort, luxury and visibility are offered in abundance with this vehicle, together with a sunshine roof and delightful midnight blue and black livery. In largely original condition, this Daimler E20 offers a rare opportunity to purchase a delightful piece of British motoring history.

Shelby Daytona Coupé by Factory Five

Lot # 248 (Sale Order: 48 of 139)

The Shelby Daytona Coupé (also referred to as the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupé) is a sports-coupé related to the AC Cobra roadster, loosely based on its chassis and drive-train. It was built for racing, specifically to take on Ferrari and its 250GTO in the GT class. There were only six original Coupés ever made. Those cars captured the 1965 FIA World Championship for America in the last years before mega-money took American road racing from its roots and from the average guy. Despite the fact that the design never entered production, those six cars, hand-built upon 289 AC chassis, are some of the most valuable collectorS cars on the planet. Each of the original six Daytona Coupés is valued at more than $8 million. Supplied by Factory Five in Canada, this Shelby Daytona Coupé has been built to a superb standard and we are advised by the very knowledgeable vendor that she is faultless. The striking red coachwork is unmarked and the cabin area, with its array of switches and buttons and trimmed in aluminium, is a gentle reminder as to the sporting influence of this magnificent car. The 302c.i. engine has been Dynamometer tested at a remarkable 530bhp, this car is not for the faint hearted. Complete with a very comprehensive build sheet, including the fitment of air conditioning and supplied with an MoT test certificate, the vendor is in the process of registering the car in the UK. It is anticipated this will be completed prior to the auction date. Whether used on a track or for a Sunday afternoon drive, this Daytona Coupé is a very special car indeed.

Cooper 500 Mk. V – Goodwood Eligible - Ex Ken Wharton; Four Time British Hill Climb

Lot # 249 (Sale Order: 49 of 139)

Ordered new by Ken Wharton from the Cooper Works, MKV/19/51 was delivered with Norton and Jap engine mounts for £465 on the 12th January 1951.Ken Wharton competed in off-road trials, hill climbs and rallying and also raced sports cars and single seaters. He began racing in the new National 500cc Formula in his own special, and later acquired this Cooper amongst others. His World Championship Grand Prix debut was at the 1952 Swiss event where he started from 13th position on the grid and finished 4th. He participated in a total of 15 World Championship Grand Prix. He won the British Hill Climb Championship every year from 1951 to 1954, and remains the only driver to have won four successive BHCC titles. Other successes included winning the Brighton Speed Trials in 1954, 1955 and 1956. Success in rallies included winning the Tulip Rally in 1949, 1950 and 1952, driving Fords and he also became British Trials Champion. On 4 July 1954, he and Peter Whitehead won the Reims 12-hour race in a Jaguar D-Type. Campaigned by Wharton during 1951, he finished 1st at Castle Combe on the 31st March and recorded a second place at the Freiburg-Schavinsland hill climb in the Black Forest, Germany on 5th August, beaten only by Stirling Moss. After his untimely death in 1957; injured when his Ferrari Monza crashed in a sports car race at the Ardmore Circuit in New Zealand, the Cooper was sold by Wharton's father to Tommy Norton, a fellow competitor and subsequently to Wally Cuff and competed under the infamous 'Hells Hammers' banner. Subsequently it came into the ownership of Dr Flanagan followed in the late 1960s by Harry Heathcote where it was laid up for two decades before passing into the ownership of Ken Edwards. During Edwards tenure the car was lovingly refreshed while retaining the patina of years of racing. The Cooper competed throughout the 1990s as documented by a RAC Competition log book and VSCC eligibility document including Goodwood in 2001, all included in the significant history file. In 2013, the little Cooper passed to its current owner where it has been cherished in a prominent collection for the last 3 years; however we advise to have the car recommissioned before taking to the track. The car retains its original aluminium panels that maintain a wonderful patina, a 500cc Jap engine mated to a Norton gearbox. The cockpit boasts a red vinyl seat with a centrally mounted rev counter and charming hand painted starting instructions on the dash. Goodwood eligible, this is a fantastically original example with exemplary period history and highly appropriate for the many events it can compete in.

Aston Martin V8 Volante by ‘Daytona’

Lot # 250 (Sale Order: 50 of 139)

With the demise of the DB6 Mk. II Volante in 1970, Aston Martin were not able to offer a convertible motorcar until 1977 with the introduction of the V8 Volante. This presented the opportunity for enterprising engineering companies to occupy a niche in the marketplace to supply wealthy customers with a desire for something unique and unusual. Arguably the ultimate in soft-top luxury, the newcomer boasted a lined, power-operated hood which, when erected, endowed the interior with all the solidity and refinement associated with the saloon version. Considered by many to be one of the most elegant of Aston Martins, the Volante has always been much admired, and rightly so. This automatic transmission V8 is one of seven professionally converted to 'Volante' specification by the Daytona Motor Company of London. This striking example benefits from the full 'Daytona' treatment including Vantage grill, air-dam, kamm-tail and bonnet as well as, of course, a full length convertible roof. Redolent of the period, the original interior also reflects the tastes of the time with a red leather interior and contrasting velour inserts. The upgrades are not restricted to visual styling cues however, under the bonnet; the standard V8 has been upgraded to accept a full complement of four twin-choke Vantage Weber carburettors increasing output to nearer 305hp and additional air conditioning as well as improved suspension to handle the power increase. No paperwork is present to confirm any further mechanical upgrades although, with the engine out, a full inspection could take place. This V8 Volante not only reflects Aston Martins developmental history in the early 1970's but presents in good order throughout and can be used immediately. ?
