Lotus Elite Mk.14

Lot # 301 (Sale Order: 101 of 139)

The first Elite or Lotus Type 14 was an ultra-light two-seater coupé, produced from 1958 to 1963 and making its debut at the 1957 London Motor Car Show. It was chassis number 1008 and, having spent a year in development, aided by 'carefully selected racing customers', it went on sale. The Elite's most distinctive feature was its highly innovative fiberglass monocoque construction; the Elite also used this glass-reinforced plastic material for the entire load-bearing structure of the car though the front of the monocoque incorporated a steel sub-frame supporting the engine and front suspension. The resultant body was both lighter and stiffer and provided better driver protection in the event of any mishap. It had independent suspension all round with transverse wishbones at the front and Chapman struts at the rear whilst advanced aerodynamics also made a contribution giving the car a very low drag coefficient of 0.29 - quite low even for modern cars. When production ceased in 1963 a mere 1,030 units had been manufactured. This handsome Lotus has been owned by the current vendor for the last 26 years and he has cherished owning this rare classic Elite Mk.14. The yellow paintwork is stunning as is the black interior. Benefitting from a recent total engine rebuild to the 1216cc Coventry Climax engine, this Lotus drives every bit as good as she looks. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until 28th March 2017 and a history folder, this Elite represents not only value for money but an opportunity to own a piece of sought after Lotus motorcar history in great, useable condition. ?

Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda

Lot # 302 (Sale Order: 102 of 139)

Mercedes-Benz has been producing an SL (Sport Leicht) model or range of models since 1954 when the landmark 300SL was unveiled. The similarly styled, but mechanically unrelated, 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. Their successor was the W113 series SL which proved to be more comfortable than the former and faster than the latter. The 250SL is the rarest of all the SL's as they were only made for one year, of these, very few were fitted with a manual gearbox. This beautiful example, presented in brilliant white with contrasting blue interior, accompanying blue hardtop and mohair hood, is a rare 250SL combined with the manual gearbox. It has undergone an extensive restoration in 2015 at which stage a 230 engine replaced the original which leaves this iconic Pagoda in excellent condition today and well worth viewing. Boasting the original style carpets and original Becker radio, the vendor recently took the car to SS Motors, Weybridge, renowned Mercedes-Benz specialist who commented, "This is the nicest one I have seen in a long while". Offered with a MoT test certificate valid until May 2017 and registration certificate, this late 250SL is truly a fantastic example to enjoy the summer. We highly recommend this car for your shortlist on June 11th.

Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa Flatnose

Lot # 303 (Sale Order: 103 of 139)

In 1986, Porsche finally offered the slantnose, called Flachbau in German, straight from the factory. The official designation in the UK was Turbo SE and it is also sometimes referred to as the Flatnose. Offered as the ultimate 930 Turbo, this model had an upgraded body and a 330bhp engine. Costing nearly double the standard model, the Flachbau was rarely ordered. Before 1986, Porsche had offered the Flachbau body option from its customer service department known as Sonderwunschen. These were handmade cars, not limited to just the Turbo, but the Carrera and Carrera SC as well. In the 1987 model year, these were put into production with the M505 code for USA for an astounding $23,244 extra and M506 for the rest of the world. Despite the panels being slightly heavier, they were modelled after the 935 race car for top speed. The conversion required extended rocker panels, wider rear flares with scooped vents and flip-up headlights up front with functional louvres. With a jump in horsepower, it's not surprising that the Flachbau was the fastest of all 930 models, reaching a factory claimed 171mph. Acceleration was rated by the factory at 0-100kph in 5.2 seconds. This excellent, very rare righthand drive Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa was supplied new by JCT600 on 1st August 1988 and taken to Dage Sport Ltd. in 1989 where it was converted to the slantnose specification using original and correct Porsche metal parts. This 930 has a full service history which shows that it has only covered 48,800 miles from new. Within the last twelve months, this car has been the subject of much attention having the top half of the engine overhauled fitting new 3.2 Carrera specification camshafts, replacing the turbo charger with a Hybrid K27 unit and the bodywork receiving a complete respray. Finished in black with black leather interior, this superb 930 Turbo Targa is supplied with a V5C registration document, an Mot test certificate with no advisories which expires in June 2017, the handbook pack containing the original handbook and fully stamped service book and a file containing invoices from the recent restoration. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a well sorted Porsche 930 slantnose at half the cost of an original 930 Flachbau.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Lot # 304 (Sale Order: 104 of 139)

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was launched in 2011 and was the final development of the track-inspired series of legendary 997 GT3 RS models. Only 600 examples were made and it was the last hurrah for the motorsport-derived Mezger flat-six that was bored out from 3.8 to 4.0 Litres, the largest displacement 911 engine ever. The normally aspirated power plant was crucially mated to a six-speed manual transmission and achieved 494bhp at 8,250rpm. The 4.0 RS is considered by many to be one of the greatest drivers' cars of all time and, according to EVO Magazine when the car was released, "It is the ultimate 911 and you could easily argue it's all the car you'll ever need. It will become an icon." This very special, lefthand drive, 4.0 Litre GT3 RS has covered just 2,980 kilometres from new. Supplied new to a prominent Kazakhstan politician in 2011 in Carrera White with grey and red decals, black leather and red alcantara inserts. The vehicle was then bought into Spain in 2015 where it has since been garaged and used sparingly. This beautiful example was ordered with the following factory specification: half factory cage (painted black), five-point harnesses, Porsche CDR30 radio, one-piece carbon Carrera GT bucket seats, dynamic engine mounts, Sports Chrono package, 19" Centre locking wheels, air conditioning, tyre pressure monitoring, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Stability Management, Alcantara roof lining, door entry guards in carbon fibre, Guards Red seatbelts, on-board computer, electric and heated door mirrors, Xenon lighting system, CD compartment and a 90 litre fuel tank. A service history is present from the supplying dealer in Russia with three stamps from Elite Auto Porsche in Kazan before its recent service with OS Sportswagen Porsche in Marbella, Andalucia, Spain. The car has also been correctly stored in a temperature controlled environment. The interior is like a new car and, other than the smallest of stone chips, the exterior bodywork is in stunning order having recently been detailed for sale. Supplied with the Russian registration documents this car represents superb value considering the rarity, collectability and the fact that righthand drive examples are changing hands for well over £400,000. When new, only owners of at least three previous GT3 models were invited to buy a 4.0 Litre thus making it one of the most desirable 911s ever made. Historics are immensely proud to offer a car that is sure to be one of the most iconic Porsches ever built. * Interested parties should note that VAT, charged at 20% will be levied upon the final hammer price of this lot if it purchased to remain in the UK.

Bentley Continental T

Lot # 305 (Sale Order: 105 of 139)

The Bentley Continental R was launched at the Geneva motor show in 1991 and the styling of the handsome new coupé harked back to elegant lines of the S -Series Continental coupés produced by Bentley Motors throughout the 50's and 60's. The turbocharged 6.75 litre, V8 engine was utilised and internally the car was similar to the Turbo R saloon. Introduced in 1989, the Bentley Continental T brought sportier handling and higher power to the Continental range. It has a four inch shorter wheelbase than a Continental R, has flared wheel arches accommodating the 18" five spoke alloy wheels and a more powerful 420bhp, V8 power unit. To be expected, performance was very impressive with the big Bentley reaching 60mph in under six seconds and a top speed of almost 170mph. This delightful Continental T presents in excellent order and has been very well cared for by the current vendor. The black emerald paintwork is virtually unmarked as is the sumptuous leather trim. The highly figured walnut dashboard and oceans of dials/gauges are a simple reminder of everything synonymous with such a prestige marque. Driving a Bentley Continental T is one of life's memorable experiences, listening to the noise of such a powerful V8 engine delivering the power to the rear wheels at a remarkable rate. Originally supplied by H.R. Owen in Kensington, this Bentley comes with the original service books, a V5C registration document and a current valid MoT test certificate. Only 350 Bentley Continental T's were manufactured worldwide, they rarely come onto the market place and an example as good as this is sure to appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Lister Knobbly Recreation

Lot # 306 (Sale Order: 106 of 139)

For 1957, Lister redesigned the original car around a Jaguar D-Type inline-six with an aerodynamic aluminium body; it was tested by racing journalist John Bolster, performing a 0-100mph run in 11.2 seconds. Driver Archie Scott Brown won the 1957 British Empire Trophy in the new Lister-Jaguar. Refined again in 1958, the Lister-Jaguar entered international competitions. Lister also developed another single-seater car based on the Lister-Jaguar, for use in the unique Race of Two Worlds at Monza. Cars from this era are affectionately known as the 'Lister Knobbly' cars, due to their curved bodywork. Although, not an original 'Knobbly' Lister-Jaguar, this is an extremely faithful and precise recreation, similar in ethos to the Cameron Miller Maserati 250Fs or the more recently replicated Guido Rosani/Jim Stokes Lancia-Ferrari D50s. One of three of its type built in the mid-1980s by New Zealander Ray Larsen, who is a world renowned coach builder and engineer, famous for building successful racing Jaguars. This car was copied directly from a genuine Lister 'Knobbly' using a host of period Jaguar components sourced from the 'matching numbers' donor car. As such, its two main longitudinal chassis members taper fore and aft from an unusually wide point level with the driver's seat thus enabling him to sit low down within the frame. The front suspension, carried on a dedicated box structure, consists of equal-length wishbones (fabricated from tubular steel with reinforcing flange plates) and coil-over-damper units, while the rear suspension comprises a De Dion tube located by parallel radius arms and a sliding trunnion. Special ducting keeps each of the four-wheel disc brakes (inboard at the rear) cool. The freshly built engine by Jim Stokes is a 3.8-litre XK unit producing 360bhp and carries a bespoke inlet manifold complete with water rail, pressure gauge and triple 45DCOE Weber carburettors. Canted over by 8°, the unit also employs a D-Type style dry-sump lubrication system and gas flowed 36" exhaust system. Mated to a D-Type style bell-housing with backward facing starter motor and small circumference clutch, it feeds its considerable power to a Salisbury differential via a Moss close-ratio gearbox that is topped by an XK short lid. Around £179,000 (fully documented) has been spent from 2010 to 2015 mainly at Jim Stokes in order to produce a competitive and excellent handling example that has such charm and patina that it could have just raced at Goodwood in the 1950s and is capable of race winning lap times today. It has previously raced in Club events and is now fully sorted and ready to use for racing or as the ultimate track day weapon or showroom masterpiece. Finished in the Lister works Livery of green with yellow centre stripe and described by the vendor as in very good overall condition and very much improved over the years. Supplied with comprehensive history file, invoices, engine pre-heater and racing jacks. With huge expenditure and beautifully built, this fantastic machine offers a taste of the real deal at a fraction of the price.

Maserati Shamal

Lot # 307 (Sale Order: 107 of 139)

Manufactured between 1989 and 1996, the V8-powered Shamal supercar was the ultimate expression of Maserati's long-running Bi-turbo family. Maserati's mainstream model throughout the 1980s and the first series production road car to employ a twin turbo-charged engine, the Bi-turbo saloon debuted in 1982. Intended to challenge BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury sporting saloon market, the unitary-construction Bi-turbo featured all-independent suspension, disc brakes all round and an interior boasting sumptuous leather upholstery and plentiful wood veneer trim. Designed by the Maserati Design Centre in collaboration with ex-Bertone stylist Marcello Gandini, a man with an enviable selection of the world's most desirable cars to his credit, the Shamal was powered by a compact 3,217cc, 32-valve, V8 engine producing 325bhp, good enough for a top speed within a whisker of 170mph. To fully utilise all this power within a relatively small, rear-wheel drive package, Maserati turned to class-leading technology in the form of electronically controlled, driver-adjustable active suspension, developed in conjunction with Koni. This is a genuine righthand drive example Shamal, one of only 36 manufactured, it is thought less than 10 have survived making this a very rare example. Originally registered on 28th October 1992, this handsome Maserati is in excellent condition and has been used only sparingly of late. The styling of these Italian masterpieces is superb, it is a true 2+2 and with an aggressive stance, this is a car that performs as well as it looks. The interior is quite retro with front seats resembling armchairs; the instrument cluster is efficient without being overly fussy. Finished in black with black leather trim and supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 23rd February 2017; this is a true 'under the radar' supercar that is a fast appreciating classic. This Maserati Shamal will bring a smile to the face of anyone lucky enough to drive it.

MG A Roadster (Twin Cam)

Lot # 308 (Sale Order: 108 of 139)

The high performance twin cam model of the famous MGA was added to the range in 1958. Available in both fixedhead and roadster versions, the new model could be visually identified by the fitment of knock-on Dunlop wheels and scuttle-mounted badges proclaiming 'Twin-Cam'. The new engine boasted a cross-flow cylinder head in aluminium alloy, larger SU carburettors and twin chain-driven overhead camshafts whist the displacement was increased to 1588cc, giving 108bhp at 6,700rpm and a top speed of 113mph allied to brisk acceleration. To cope with the increased performance, Dunlop disc brakes were fitted both front and rear. The model was universally popular with 2,111 made worldwide, most in lefthand drive format. This particular example was exported to the U.S. when manufactured and imported into Denmark around 12 years ago where she underwent a full nut and bolt restoration. The car was then repatriated into the UK in 2012. Since then it has had work carried out by Sigma Engineering including a recent engine rebuild and presents in excellent order throughout. Following the comprehensive restoration of this Twin Cam MGA, she has only sparingly been used and has covered less than 5,000 miles. The history file confirms regular maintenance and servicing with many bills and receipts present, plus a complete photographic record of the restoration on file. Supplied with a V5C registration document new side screens and hood, these delightful British built sportscars are now recognised as real classics that drive very well and offer good long term investment potential.

Porsche 912

Lot # 309 (Sale Order: 109 of 139)

Manufactured between 1965 and 1969, the Porsche 912 was very much the entry level Porsche sports car. Although, for some time, considered the poorer relation to the 911, the 912 is very much a serious sports car in its own right. With aerodynamic lines, low weight and an efficient engine the 912 demonstrated good performance, nimble handling and economy, resulting with initial production cars out selling the 911. This 912 on offer today has recently been imported from California. Its 1.6 flat four engine is stated to have been rebuilt on a 1967 cylinder block with Mahle and an electric fuel pump added to aid reliability. This 912 is superbly presented with gleaming Porsche silver coachwork, Fuchs wheels and an excellent soft grey interior that is finished off by a new set of carpets and a Nardi steering wheel. The front bumper has a replacement aerodynamic unit fitted but does not detract from the quality feel of this motor car. A large history file includes, the US Certificate of Title, an original owner's handbook, workshop manual, Porsche 912 repair and tune up guide, service receipts and invoices from 1976 to 2015. A NOVA certificate also accompanies the car and UK import duties have been paid. Having resided in Huntington Beach, California, this 912 has had four previous keepers and has arrived in very good order. On a recent test, the Porsche was found to be a pleasure to drive. The vendor will ensure that the car arrives at the sale with an MoT test certificate and he is willing to UK register the car on behalf of a new owner if they so wish. This surely is a classic that you may drive with confidence. ?

Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Roadster

Lot # 310 (Sale Order: 110 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 were produced from 1971 through to 1989 being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL and SLC model names with the R107 replacing the W113 SL-Class in 1972 which was in turn replaced by the R129 SL-Class in 1989. The SL variant was a two seater convertible/roadster with standard soft top and hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Volume production of the first SL, the 350SL, started in April 1971, alongside the last of the W113 cars. The SL Roadster has since become the epitome of what a luxury roadster should look like and can be found anywhere from Ashford to Antibes and indeed in every corner of the earth and wherever the jet-set congregate. This excellent 1984 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL is a very original pre-facelift 107 series and has only covered 53,000 miles from new. The car was supplied by Derwent Motors of Leeds and serviced by Mercedes-Benz main dealers in Yorkshire up until 40,000 miles in 2001. The servicing was then given to Mercedes-Benz specialists as the car was being used much less. There are 16 stamps in the original service book and this 280 SL has covered less than 10,000 miles since 2003. The car has recently been serviced and a new water pump and radiator fitted. Finished in thistle green metallic with matching hard top, original black soft top which is in excellent condition; it has a spotless mushroom sports-check cloth interior. It is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2016, a complete handbook pack including the service book and a file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates going back to 2003. It is rare to find such a good example which has been looked after, fully maintained and still fitted with steel wheels and painted hub caps. A superb roadster which is ready to use and enjoy for the summer.

Porsche 911 Turbo-body Speedster

Lot # 311 (Sale Order: 111 of 139)

The 356 Speedster has long occupied a small but perfectly formed slot in the Porsche hall of fame, particularly in America where it fused post-war Teutonic efficiency with Fifties glam Americana. It was Porsche's US importer who suggested the idea, a simple, no frills take on the then-current 356 model ideally suited to the sun kissed environment of California. To market the car at a more affordable price, Porsche stripped all unnecessary comforts from within, fitted bucket seats and gave it the bare minimum of weather protection. The result was not only a distinctive and hugely popular car, but also one that, thanks to its keen power to weight ratio, was often to be found in minor sports car races on the weekends. Jump forward a few decades and a more up to date version appeared using the next legendary model nomenclature. The 911 Speedster a low-roof version of the Cabriolet was produced in limited numbers (2,104) starting in January 1989 until July 1989 as both a narrow body car and a Turbo-look. Supplied new by Chariots of Kidlington, Oxford on 1st August 1989 as a genuine UK factory car, this Speedster is presented in exceptional condition having been lovingly cared for by its six evidently fastidious owners. The classic Guards Red paintwork is flawless and contrasts well with the black leather (with red piping) 'comfort' seating. Other benefits include a locking differential and high intensity windscreen washer with headlight wash. Complete with its original books including the rare Speedster supplement, service book, tool kit, both sets of keys and a confidence inspiring folder of previous invoices and MoT test certificates, this Turbo-look (without spoilers) Speedster is in the best possible condition and prepared to an exacting standard with a proven provenance. In beautiful condition throughout, not to mention a fabulous driver's car, the speedster was produced in very limited numbers and opportunities to acquire a tangible and very useable asset, that will continue to appreciate, is a rare commodity indeed.

Ferrari Testarossa

Lot # 312 (Sale Order: 112 of 139)

Ferrari unveiled the new Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Show marking the end of production of the Boxer, the car that had been the flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari model for the previous ten years. Styled by Pininfarina, the Testarossa paid homage to the great 1950s sports racer that originally bore the name, simply translating as 'Red Head'; the rocker covers being painted red. The mid-engined, rear wheel drive configuration allowed the center of gravity to be positioned in the middle of the car, with a weight distribution ratio of 40% front and 60% rear, thus achieving excellent cornering and road holding ability. The Testarossa was produced with 16'' five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels and disc brakes fitted all round; with 309mm discs at the front and 310mm discs at the rear. The Testarossa was larger than its Boxer predecessor; six inches wider and some 2½ inches longer which allowed more leg room. In addition, the temperature inside the cockpit was reduced as twin radiators were mounted in the rear; unlike the Boxer, where the single front mounted radiator had plumbing from the bonnet to the engine behind the seats, which made the cabin very hot, especially on a warm day. The distinctive side vents were as useful as they were visually striking, allowing excellent engine ventilation, whilst contributing to the car's unique styling. Beautifully presented in Rossa Corsa red with tan leather interior, this example of Ferrari's Testarossa was delivered new to Italy and delivered to its first owner on the 28th October 1991 through Crepaldi Auto Milan, a long standing Ferrari franchise and the largest Ferrari dealer in Italy. Ownership changed at approximately 2,780kms in 2007 with belts and fluids serviced, whilst a Tubi exhaust was fitted to free up that sonorous flat 12; the original exhaust is still available. The car has just returned from a full engine out service with marque specialists Aldo Riti. Whilst under his care, both cam belts, belt tensioners and all cam oil were replaced as well as all fluids, oils and a bleeding of the clutch and brake system. The car garnered high praise for its condition and sits as one of the very best available today. There is a documented picture record of the car taken to obtain the Italian ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) classic car certificate, where the vehicle obtained the highest rating A1 covering chassis plates, assembly number, engine number and annotation of the original Glesurit paint code are all featured. Alongside the picture record, there is a brass plate from ASI and all supporting documentation to confirm the historic placing of this unique example. The owner informs us the car is 'perfect' and is 10 out of 10 throughout, boasting its original paint, it has only covered 2,863 miles. As you would expect with a car of this calibre, it is sold with the original leather service wallet, the worldwide representative booklet, the technical manual, all the keys and the Tessera di Garanzia signed by none other than the marque legend Mauro Forghieri. A genuine indoor cover is also provided. A fantastic example of the legendary Testarossa; supplied with extremely low mileage, increasingly rare to find with all of the associated original items this is a highly desirable and collectible motor car....more

Aston Martin Virage ‘Widebody’ Volante (6.3 litre)

Lot # 313 (Sale Order: 113 of 139)

Introduced at the October 1988 Birmingham Motor Show to almost universal acclaim, the Virage was the first new Aston Martin for eighteen years. A satisfying blend of muscularity and understatement, its sleek aluminium silhouette was the work of John Hefferman and Ken Greenley. Based around a modified version of its Lagonda sibling's sheet-steel platform chassis, the newcomer benefited from revised wishbone independent front suspension, a lightened de Dion rear axle, four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted rack and pinion steering. Suitably reworked by Callaway Engineering of Connecticut, USA (using 'four-valve' cylinder heads, hydraulic tappets and Weber electronic fuel injection), its 5340cc 'quad-cam' V8 engine not only satisfied forthcoming emissions legislation but also developed some 330bhp and 350lbft of torque. Allied to a choice of either three-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmissions. Lack of anticipated sale orders and a general lack of enthusiasm for the car's performance led the Works in house engineering team to devise a reworked 6.3 lire conversion for customers who wanted more power and greater performance. It is believed that only 22 brand new Volantes were driven around to the back door of the factory after delivery, each of which was then fitted with a new wide body, new wheels and suspension, an uprated 500bhp engine improving the 0-60 time and enabling the car to make 165mph. First registered in 1994, the Vantage on offer today is one of the much rarer and seriously more desirable 6.3 factory converted Volantes, or convertible, models. It is described as being in excellent condition throughout with the bodywork finished in Aston Martin Racing Green beautifully complemented by the magnolia hide upholstery with Spruce piping and Fern Green carpets. That engine is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Much care and attention has been lavished upon L11 AML; last year Rikki Cann, the well-known Aston Martin V8 specialist based in Essex, completely rebuilt the engine at a cost in excess of £15,000 and at the same time hoses, radiator and airconditioning condenser were all replaced. The suspension was also removed and powder coated by Stratton Aston Martin when the car was acquired in 2012. It has a detailed maintenance history file and upgrade history going back for rather more than the four years that it has been owned by the vendor, including old MoT test certificates going back over many years including a photograph album of the work done during his ownership. The tyres have been recently replaced and all in excellent condition and a Rikki Cann service took place 1,000 miles ago. Supplied with a DB9-style battery trickle charger installed discreetly in the boot, green lambs-wool overmats and the original works number plate, L11 AML, these superb examples, like its fixedhead brother, are fast becoming the latest Aston Martin investment vehicles to watch.?

Volkswagen Transporter Double-Cab 4x4 'Syncro '

Lot # 314 (Sale Order: 114 of 139)

The Volkswagen T25 Syncro is a fabulous piece of Volkswagen history and a truly capable off-road vehicle. First produced in 1985, the VW Syncro was a solid 4X4 addition to the Volkswagen range. The initial prototypes were designed to take part in the grueling African rallies taking place in the 1970's and proved themselves worthy of the task when used as support vehicles during the Paris-Dakar rally. The Transporter Syncro was equipped with the brilliant four-wheel drive system jointly created by VW and the Austrian company renowned for its developments in the four-wheel drive arena, Steyr-Daimler-Puch. Proven vehicles, such as the small Haflinger, the 4x4 or 6x6 Pinzgauer and the Mercedes G-Wagon made VW sure of the fact SDP would be the best partner for their 4x4 Transporter project. Rather than the relatively weak Golf turbo-diesel unit which was fitted as standard, producing only around 70bhp, this Syncro is fitted with a 2.3 litre, 20v, five-cylinder Audi 90 Quattro engine from the same era as the Syncro was built. While the standard spec is 170bhp, this engine has been modified above that with modern injectors, a chipped ECU and an earlier, more powerful 7A exhaust manifold from 1989. Only around 2,100 of these righthand drive Syncros were ever produced, compared to around 41,350 lefthand drive models, so it's quite a find, especially when you factor in the fact that it's a double cab and a 16" model making it even rare. The 16" package was offered by Volkswagen for those who wanted to give their Syncro an edge when it came to its off-road capabilities and includes 16" wheels, bigger front brakes, a rear differential lock and lower final drive ratios, as well as a host of subtler structural and mechanical tweaks. This model was never offered in this country, but one Right Hand Drive Special Edition Jagdwagen (Hunting Car) Crew Cab built as a one-off order for a customer. A righthand drive Syncro 16" Double Cabs is a rare vehicle. Volkswagen only produced around 300 examples in total and a righthand drive one makes it one of the rarest VW's around. It boasts a fully tipping, hydraulic powered pickup bed able to lift 500kg with its single oil pumped ramp, fitted during its restoration in 2015. It also features a set of straightened bumpers and a full roll cage, completely rebuilt front and rear gearboxes, radically stretched arches which had to be enlarged to accommodate the 16" General Grabber tyres. While any and all rusted metalwork was removed and replaced, the leaking original sunroof was replaced with a 42" long roll back sunroof from the USA and an all new brown leather with 'baseball glove' style stitching, plus new headlining and carpets and heated seats were fitted. Once the work was finished, the whole inside and out of the Syncro was finished in Land Rover Corris Grey paint. There is a custom built stainless exhaust system with twin tailpipes and it would be equally at home on the Kings Road or on a Scottish grouse moor!

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL-24

Lot # 315 (Sale Order: 115 of 139)

The Mercedes-Benz R129 SL roadsters were produced from 1989 through to 2002. Designed in 1984, they were based on the shortened floor-pan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time, for instance electronically controlled damping (optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The R107's rather dated rear diagonal swing axle gave way to a modern multi-link axle. The number of standard features was high with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and convertible top. The R129 received heightened media attention in Great Britain in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a metallic-red 500 SL and became the first member of the Royal Family to use a foreign car. This was not without controversy as it sparked a media storm and questioned whether a member of a British royalty should drive foreign cars. Media pressure eventually forced her to return the car to Mercedes-Benz in 1992 and it now resides in their museum. This two owner 1992 300 SL-24 has only covered 23,800 miles from new which is confirmed with a full Mercedes-Benz service history. The car was supplied with a number of optional extras including five speed gearbox, eight hole alloy wheels, air conditioning, burr walnut woodwork, rear seats, multi-stack CD player and wind deflector, as well as cruise control, heated seats and headlamp wash-wipers. This very original example still has the dealer supplied sweets and de-icer in the glove box, it also has all its original tools, first aid kit and car cover. Finished in pearl grey with matching hardtop, black soft top and grey leather interior, this 300 SL has just been MoTd by a Mercedes-Benz main agent. It is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate, spare key and a file containing a replacement service book, a letter from Mercedes-Benz listing the earlier services and old MoT test certificates and invoices. With the values of the earlier R107 Mercedes-Benz values on the rise, this is an opportunity to acquire a very low mileage, practical R129 before they follow suit. One for the future and an ideal car for the summer.

MG B Roadster

Lot # 316 (Sale Order: 116 of 139)

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MGT types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction, with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was certainly one of the MGB's strong points. This two owner MGB was originally registered on 25th April 1972 and is supplied with the original handbooks. Sitting proudly on wire wheels, this MG is fitted with an overdrive unit on the gearbox. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years' MoT test certificate, we are advised RDR343K drives with no known faults; enjoy classic summertime motoring at a modest outlay.

Jaguar Mk. II (2.4 litre)

Lot # 317 (Sale Order: 117 of 139)

The lineage of the Mk. II can be directly traced back to its predecessor, the 2.4 saloon, or Mk. I as it would be retrospectively known in later years. This sporting saloon, designed to fill the gap in Jaguar's range between the XK sports and voluminous Mk. VII, entered the market in 1956. Power came from the legendary XK straight six, twin-cam engine in 2483cc form. The 2.4 was notable as being a complete breakaway from the previous designs of (Sir) William Lyons and Co., and was their first foray into the modern world of monocoque construction. Traditional Jaguar buyers would not feel alienated by the new offering from Coventry as the interior was up to their usual standards with leather and walnut being the order of the day and 112bhp available to the 'press-on' motorist. Rather than introduce a completely brand new car, Jaguar successfully re-designed the car from stem to stern and the Mk. II was born debuting in 1959. The chunky windscreen pillars of the early car were replaced by slimmer offerings giving a much more airy cabin, which both improved the styling and freshened up the design for the new decade. First registered in December 1968 to a Mr. Peel of Epping, Essex, this beautifully presented automatic 240 Mk. II Jaguar has been subject to a comprehensive restoration and thus is in fine fettle for this summer and many more to come. Presented in deep blue with re-trimmed contrasting blood-red coachwork and all new wood dash, this example is also accompanied by a comprehensive history file. Having recently had a mechanical overhaul including new ball joints, brake hoses and vacuum valve alongside a service in late 2015, this Jaguar was used as a wedding car by the previous owner and he assures us, not only did the groom arrive to the church on time, he got there in style. With an MoT certificate valid until April 2017, this is clearly a vehicle that has been lovingly owned and restored. A fantastically well-kept Mk. II, we would certainly recommend viewing especially at this attractive estimate.?

Range Rover CSK

Lot # 318 (Sale Order: 118 of 139)

The limited edition Range Rover CSK is named after Charles Spencer King, the man who designed the original two-door Range Rover over 20 years ago. The CSK was intended primarily to publicise the new anti-roll suspension and was promoted as a sportier Range Rover. Most elements of the CSK's specification were drawn from the four-door Vogue SE or from US-market models. Each car has an individually numbered plaque on the radio panel confirming its exclusivity, discreetly bearing his insignia and, in 1990, cost £28,995 (manual). For an automatic you had to pay £30,319.32. The Range Rover CSK features a number of modifications improving both performance and passenger comfort. It's the fastest production Range Rover ever built at that time with the proven and a re-chipped version of the 3.9 litre, V8 engine developing 185bhp. The increase in performance is complemented by improved handling at high speeds. Land Rover UK had introduced front and rear anti-roll bars and sports dampers, to give a smoother, more comfortable ride for on-road handling. The roll stiffness is increased by 25 over the standard production model. This all gives remarkably positive and responsive driving. The CSK is available with a choice of five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes a six-speaker security coded stereo system, air-conditioning, central locking, and electrically operated tilt/slide sunroof, electric windows and heated door mirrors. Also standard is the world's most advanced four-wheel drive ABS braking system which prevents wheel-lock in the worst conditions on any combination of surfaces. This rare Range Rover CSK, number 190 of only 200 produced, is an automatic example and has recently undergone an engine rebuild totalling £6,500 and as one would expect, is described by the vendor as being 10 out of 10; furthermore, a new stainless steel exhaust and manifold were also fitted. Supplementary work included a new quilted tan leather interior which perfectly complements the Beluga black paintwork. A light restoration carried out by London specialist Graeme Hunt in 2014, with documentation and pictures detailing the works are included in the file. The car is supplied with a year's MoT certificate and we are informed the car runs very well indeed, the service history includes nine services carried out by Land Rover Lincoln, Land Rover Boston and Andrews Land Rover with services at 6,851 miles, 11,453, 24,010, 29,885, 48,671, 54,721, 61, 849, 67,098 and 80,240 miles. With examples offered in the region of £60,000, this particular CSK is offered at no reserve and represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase this highly collectible and desirable Range Rover.

Aston Martin Virage

Lot # 319 (Sale Order: 119 of 139)

The Virage was Aston Martin's replacement for the decades-old V8 models and introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1988. This V8-powered car was intended as the company's top model with the six-cylinder 1994 DB7 slotted below it but this V8 model remained the exclusive, expensive and hand-built king of Astons. The Virage was a large, heavy car in spite of its all-aluminium body, but the 32-valve, 5.3 litre V8 engines elevated its performance to near sports car levels. "Acceleration just never seems to run out", claimed Sports Car International on a first test. They also praised the "eager and quicker revving" nature of the engine with its Callaway-designed heads and Weber-Marelli fuel injection. "Nothing sounds quite like an Aston V8," they concluded. And they were right. Every owner can claim the soundtrack to be one of the most intoxicating around. This automatic, righthand drive variant was first delivered to Japan in its factory colours of British Racing Green with a contrasting red leather interior. The carpeting is also red with a mushroom alcantara headlining. It has travelled little over the recent years but recently benefited from a fresh MoT test certificate (with no advisories) and a full and comprehensive service by Aston Martin specialists, Runnymede Aston Martin. Presented in excellent condition throughout, it is easy to forget how rare the Virage is with only 1,050 produced and their values now are, very much, in the ascendancy.

Lotus Elan Plus 2S 130/5 (Chassis #1) Ex-Ronnie Peterson

Lot # 320 (Sale Order: 120 of 139)

Ronnie Peterson. It is virtually impossible to describe the affect this young, good looking, quiet and shy but seriously talented Formula 1 driver has had upon, not only the aficionados of the sport, but the public in general, creating a huge ripple of affection that is still felt today by the huge fan base that still exists. Nicknamed Super Swede, Ronnie Peterson rose from karting to Formula 3 to become European Formula 2 Champion in 1972 and came closest to winning the Formula 1 World Championship in 1973 and 1978. Peterson's first Grand Prix was in 1970 at Monaco driving for the Colin Crabb privateer team, Antique Automobiles Racing Team then progressing to drive for the March Team in 1971. In 1973, Ronnie signed for the John Player Team Lotus, partnering Emerson Fittipaldi, a team led by the ever-charismatic Colin Chapman with Peterson achieving his first win in a Lotus 72 at the 1973 French Grand Prix held at the Paul Ricard circuit. Three further wins that year led Peterson to third in the Championship. By 1975, the Lotus 72 was showing its age resulting with Peterson signing for Shadow; however, Chapman convinced him to stay at Lotus, promising faster development of the Lotus 77 with Peterson driving the car in 1976 before rejoining March Engineering and winning the Italian Grand Prix. After a short spell with Tyrrell, Peterson returned to the John Player Team Lotus for the 1978 season winning the South African and Australian Grand Prix with his team mate, Mario Andretti, who won the Championship that year. Ronnie Peterson's enduring legacy owes much to his spectacular sideways style and he is still regarded by many as one of the fastest drivers in F1 history. Peterson's death was as unfortunate as it was tragic. After crashing at the start of the 1978 Italian Grand Prix he was pulled from his burning Lotus 78 by fellow drivers and taken to hospital with badly broken legs. A complication that night led to an embolism that robbed F1 of its hardest charger. The Lotus Elan Plus 2S 130/5 - chassis #1.Introduced in 1967, the Elan Plus 2 (factory designation Type 50) had an increased wheelbase over that of its predecessor that allowed the incorporation of two occasional rear seats. The glass fibre bodyshell is bolted to a steel backbone chassis to which the engine and transmission are bolted making this a lightweight and immensely strong platform for its high performance engine and nimble handling characteristics. The model had several improvements during its life and, in 1971, a big valve head was added improving performance furthermore. Significantly, in October 1972, a five speed gearbox was added, the model designation becoming the Elan Plus 2S 130/5; the Plus 2 relating to two occasional rear seats, the S referring to the Sprint specification engine, the 130 referring to horsepower and the 5 to the five-speed gearbox. We are proud to offer chassis #1 - the first Elan Plus 2 that was fitted with the five-speed gearbox. Not only that, but this special Elan was given new to Ronnie Peterson by Colin Chapman in 1972. A letter from Lotus Cars Ltd. within the extensive history file states that"the Lotus Elan unit number 1001L was supplied to Ronnie Peterson on 23/11/72".An extract from the Lotus dispatch book also confirms that this was supplied to Ronnie Peterson with engine number P28258 and supplied in the colour of Lagoon Blue. A further letter from Lotus states that Eddie Dennis, Peterson's chief mechanic, often drove the Elan to race meetings if Peterson was flying in to a circuit. A DVLA history of keepers includes a copy of the original, old-style, registration document and, although this shows that the car was registered to Lotus Cars Ltd. during Peterson's ownership, it does bear Peterson's signature with a date stamped 22nd Nov. 1972. Personal photographs show Peterson with his wife Barbro and daughter Nina Louis, named after Jochen Rindt's wife, and of Peterson with this Lotus Elan Plus 2 outside their home in Cookham Dean in Berkshire. Still presenting in Lagoon Blue, it is in generally very good order throughout and still carries the same specifications with which it left the Lotus factory over 43 years ago. The extensive history file contains the items mentioned plus a large quantity of invoices dating back to the 1970s together with a factory Workshop Manual. We are advised that JPW 162L is a matching numbers Elan that starts and drives well and will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. Offered with a UK V5 registration document, supporting photographs and letters of authentication from Lotus Cars Ltd., JPW 162L represents a unique opportunity to acquire a historic Lotus associated with one of the fastest Formula 1 drivers of the 1970s, Ronnie Peterson.

Ferrari 355 F1 Spider

Lot # 321 (Sale Order: 121 of 139)

The Ferrari F355 was launched in May 1994 with two models available: the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa Top GTS. The Spider became available in 1995 whilst in 1997 the Formula 1-style paddle gear shift was introduced with the Ferrari 355 F1, the F designation being dropped before the 355 which added a further £6,000 to the dealer list price. Apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, the major difference between the V8 engine in the 348 and F355 is the introduction of a five-valve cylinder head. This new head design allowed for better intake permeability and resulted in an engine that was considerably more powerful, The F355 was the last in the series of mid-engined Ferraris with the Flying Buttress rear window, a lineage going back to the 1965 Dino 206GT. Total production of 11,273 units made the F355 the most-produced Ferrari at the time. We are delighted to offer this lefthand drive Ferrari F1 Spider that was imported into the UK from the Principality of Monaco in 2015. The F1 Spider presents itself very well in Giallo Fly with a contrasting black leather interior and is a late 1999 model that benefits from the later engine and paddle shift gear change. Ferrari wing shields have the look whilst on a practical note, the Ferrari benefits from a power hood and tonneau cover. On inspection, this Ferrari will be found to be in very clean order throughout, the engine bay being of particular note. The Ferrari book pack is present and includes a record of specialist services from the year 2000 to 2015, the last service recorded at 78,452km and with the current mileage recorded at 80,254km equating to just under 50,000 miles; further specialist invoices reside within the file. This Ferrari 355 F1 Spider is UK registered and has an MoT test certificate valid until May 2017. With only 1,053 Ferrari 355 F1s having been produced, this handsome example represents excellent value in today's market. ?

Jaguar 340 Saloon (3.4 litre)

Lot # 322 (Sale Order: 122 of 139)

The Jaguar Mk. II was built from 1959 to 1969 as a successor to the 2.4 and 3.4 litre models which were manufactured between 1957 and 1959. It was a handsome, powerful and good handling saloon which was offered with a choice of three six-cylinder twin cam engines; 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre or 3.8 litre. After the appreciation of the MK.I, Jaguar's successor was well received making a good car even better. Similar in appearance but with a bigger glass area, it boasted a wider track to improve road holding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all-round disc rather than drum brakes. Raced by all the top drivers of the day including Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Michael Parkes, the Mk. II has scored victories throughout saloon car races in the sixties and was also raced across Europe in the Tour De France and Monte Carlo rally. Presented in Royal Blue with a contrasting red leather interior, this extremely well built and well prepared example has much to commend it. Originally delivered to Kellogg Co. as a company car, its history, since then, is well documented in the accompanying extensive file. It was fully restored by the previous owner in 2012 to include a new five-speed gearbox conversion from the original automatic unit. The engine has also been expertly tuned and it benefits from the addition of power-assisted steering. Coopercraft brakes can be found on all four corners alongside chrome wire wheels, uprated springs and a stainless steel exhaust. Other sensible upgrades include a Kenlowe fan under the bonnet and a modern, heated rear windscreen to the rear. Complete with Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate and a recent 12 month MoT test certificate, this fine example optimises the marque and represents very good value for money.

*Regretfully Withdrawn* Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet

Lot # 323 (Sale Order: 123 of 139)

*Regretfully Withdrawn* The Porsche 944 was built from 1982 to 1991 and was built on the same platform as the 924. The 944 was intended to last into the 1990s but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead which replaced the 944. The 944 was a successful model and was available as both a coupé and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. In mid-1985, the Porsche 944 underwent significant changes. These included a new dashboard together with new door panels, embedded radio antenna as well as some mechanical changes. Also included was a larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche Hi-Fi sound system and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle to reduce noise and vibration. The numbers built, reflecting the popularity of the model, made it one of the most successful cars in Porsche's history. Registered to a specialist in London, the penultimate keeper owned this good-looking car since 1996 until 2015. Presented in classic Porsche Guards Red with black Logo Linen sports seats, the overall condition is good, it has recently had a repaint and all brakes replaced including discs and pads all round. Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm Evocation

Lot # 324 (Sale Order: 124 of 139)

The Alfa Romeo 105 series coupé, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Bertone was considered to be one of his greatest designs. Not only as one of the best looking and handling classic saloon cars of the period, but the advanced specification with its five-speed gearbox, all round disc brakes, independent suspension and powerful twin-cam engine still has the capability to embarrass many of its modern counterparts. These capable performance cars were soon factory modified for extra performance, with road versions (Stradalé) and competition (Corse) cars becoming the GTA (Grand Touring Alleggerita (lightened)) and later the pure competition GTAm. There is sometimes dispute as to what the Am stands for within that GTAm name, but the contemporary magazine Quadrifoglio and the homologation papers state that the Am is the abbreviation for America. With genuine the GTAs and GTAm models now fetching stratospheric prices, it is no surprise that many road cars have been modified to look like these superstars of the road and track. It is one of these modified cars that we have on offer today. This Alfa Romeo GTAm Evocation started life as a standard righthand drive 1750 GTV and has undergone extensive restoration works. Mechanically, a 2.0 litre displacement engine has replaced the original 1750cc unit with the respected Alfa Romeo specialist, VeloceSport, having rebuilt this 2.0 litre unit as well as the gearbox earlier this year. Fuel is fed via the twin Weber DCOE40 carburettors whilst exhaust extraction is through an Alfaholics full stainless steel system. Attention has also been paid to the suspension and braking systems, both having been overhauled. A conversion to lefthand drive was facilitated for European road use, this has the additional benefit of the hanging pedals resulting with the brake and clutch master cylinders being within the engine bay and not exposed beneath the floor as on the righthand drive cars. Structurally, the Alfa Romeo was stripped to a bare shell and all of the exterior panels were replaced with composite lightweight items supplied by Bob Wright, the well known and respected engineer within this field. On the inside, matters of comfort have been kept to a minimum as a further aid to lightness. The internal panel work is exposed and finished in grey and a half roll cage is fitted along with two lightweight period style seats and a Prototipo steering wheel. Externally, this Alfa Romeo is finished in the traditional Alfa Romeo Rosso and is complimented by a set of Alfaholics 15 inch gold GTAm style alloy wheels. This is a UK registered Alfa Romeo that has a current MoT test certificate valid until February 2017. These attractive Bertone coupés are as popular as ever and with this handsome example being offered with some distinguishing personal touches, we feel that it represents excellent value considering its estimate.

MG Midget

Lot # 325 (Sale Order: 125 of 139)

First introduced in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) on the 20th May 1958 and intended as a low-cost model, the Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers BMC. The low cost of £669 was achieved by using a mildly tuned version of the A-Series engine and as many other components from existing cars as possible. Manufactured at the MG sports car factory at Abingdon, it was not surprising that the success of the design would lead to an MG version known as the Midget. The final version of the Austin Healey Sprite arrived in 1966 as the Mk. IV. The new model now used a twin carburettor 1275cc version of the proven A-Series engine which it shared with other BMC models such as the Mini Cooper S. Originally registered on 2nd November 1970, this MG Midget has been owned by the vendor for the last nine years and presents in very good all-round condition. Subject to a restoration in 2003 carried out by AMV 3000 in Hampshire at a documented cost of £10,000, this MG Midget is a delightful little sports car. The 1275cc engine runs extremely well and our test drive confirmed what a well cared for example this is; the green coachwork is virtually unmarked as is the black interior, under the bonnet she is in good order and shows no areas for concern. Supplied with a great history file, a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until April 2017, a tonneau cover and a hardtop. Sitting proudly on wire wheels, this chrome bumper Midget offers fun classic car motoring at a modest outlay. Offered for sale without reserve.
