It is always enormously satisfying, when purchasing a classicJaguar, to have the words, 'Twyford Moors' emblasoned across thehistory file. And so it is with this considered example of themarque.Languishing as it was for many years in a barn, it wasdiscovered by the Hampshire-based specialists in 1995 and rebuiltfrom top to bottom according to detailed specifications from thecurrent vendor.  Not only was the car stripped and re-painted with selectedre-chroming, but a Getrag five-speed gearbox was installed for moreflexible long-distance driving. Ferrari 599 GTB F1 Alonso

Lot # 278 (Sale Order: 78 of 127)

On 14th July 1951, Jose Froilan Gonzales scored ScuderiaFerrari's first victory behind the wheel of a 375 F1 at the BritishGrand Prix. Almost 60 years later to the day, Scuderia Ferrari andthe FIA honoured Gonzales by having Ferrari F1 pilot FernandoAlonso drive that winning 1951 Ferrari 375 around Silverstone priorto the British Grand Prix, he then pulled off an historic copy-catfeat by winning the race in his modern Ferrari. The 599's engine is derived directly from the Ferrari Enzo, which, just a few years earlier, had been acclaimed as the company's mosttechnologically advanced supercar ever. The GTB can sprint from 0to 60 in 3.7 seconds, and the six-litre, V12 can produce 620bhp at7,600rpm bringing the car to a speed of 205mph. Its accelerationwas faster than the Enzo and even faster than the McLaren F1,partly in thanks to its superb traction control which was initiallydeveloped for the Scuderia's Formula One cars. Like its cousin, theF430, the 599 was the second Ferrari to wear the now trademark 'ilmanettino' dial on the steering wheel. This dial, with its nametranslating to 'little lever', features five settings to adjust thetraction damper settings and to monitor the throttle mapping. Thisgives the driver the option of having both a docile driver-friendlycar or a race set-up with breathtaking performance. Like all modernFerraris, the 599 is just as luxurious as it is fast. The interioris spacious and comfortable with incredible attention to detailbeing paid throughout. Carbon fibre and aluminum are utilised onthe dash, which features Enzo-style instruments and a complex LCDdisplay that allows the driver to access a multitude of settingsand in-car information. The seats, developed by Recaro, aremulti-functional and have adjustable pneumatic support for thepassengers' hips and ribs, to provide a tight grip duringhigh-speed road or circuit driving.   This incredibly handsome Ferrari has recently been imported intothe UK and is currently not registered with the DVLA at Swansea. ANOVA certificate is available and should any purchaser want to havethe car registered in the UK, Historics can help and assist ifrequired. Finished in Rosso with black trim the alcantara-swathedinterior gets special seats trimmed in Ferrari's grippy Superfabricand on the dash is a plaque engraved with both Gonzales' andAlonso's signatures. This 599 GTB is in splendid order and has beenlovingly cherished by its former keeper, the coachwork is inoriginal and unmarked condition as is the interior. Without doubtthis is a fantastically impressive supercar and is one of only 40Ferrari 599 GTB Alonso Edition 60F1 hyperformance coupés to rollthrough the gates of Ferrari's Maranellofacilities.?

Jaguar XK150S Roadster (3.4 litre)

Lot # 279 (Sale Order: 79 of 127)

We are delighted to offer this genuine Jaguar XK150S open twoseater, a well-appointed sports touring car which, in its day, boasted a capability of 137mph with a 0-60mph time of 7.8 seconds. These accomplished motor cars were also able to cover longdistances with alacrity; and still do today even given our moderntraffic conditions. According to the Jaguar Heritage ProductionRecord Trace Certificate, 192 UYK was manufactured on 25th June1958 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 14th July,1958.  (Interestingly, a common error in researching the 'S'model, is to presume that an 'S' prefix to the chassis number woulddenote this as being an 'SE' model, however; the Jaguar HeritageTrust have confirmed that the 'S' was dispatched in batches, eitherwith 'T' prefix or an 'S' prefix). The build specification statesthat this was a lefthand drive, open two seater XK 150S with amanual/overdrive transmission, coachwork finished in British RacingGreen, a tan interior and a black hood.Today, this XK150S remains with its original specifications andcolours. Imported from Beverly Hills into the UK on 6th November,2014, the XK had undergone restoration works in the USA to a highstandard and has only covered approximately 1,100 miles since.Further works have been carried out since being in the UK andinclude a full engine rebuild by the well-respected Jaguarspecialists 'Jaguar Workshop' with supporting bills totalling inthe region of £7,000. We are informed that the engine is now run-inhaving completed 700 miles since and also benefits from a postrun-in service. On inspection, the coachwork looks resplendent in British RacingGreen whilst displaying excellent panel gaps; these being difficultto achieve with the type of construction Jaguar employed with theXK models. The interior boasts excellent tan hide seats with lapbelts and is certainly a welcoming office for driver and passengeralike. Being an 'S' model, the car retains its disc brakes on allfour wheels as well as a set of chrome wire wheels and recent newtyres (including the spare wheel). The tools, including the jack, are situated in the boot and the jacking points are accessible fromthe interior as per the original specification. We are informedthat the engine is not the original but a similar period unit hasbeen used as a replacement; not an unusual occurrence with thistype of motor car. In addition a non-standard Mota-Lita steeringwheel is fitted. The hood is in excellent order and may be erectedand stowed without undue difficulty. On a recent test, the Jaguar drove well with the instrumentsdisplaying pressures and temperatures as they should. The enginepulled well with the gears engaging easily as well as the welcomeoverdrive for comfortable high speed cruising; overall a verypleasant and capable experience according to our tester. We havebeen told that this UK registered (import duties paid) XK150S willarrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. To find an XK150 in this condition, with such finish, panel gapsand performance is difficult at the best of times. To find agenuine 'S' model such as this, even rarer.

Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Turismo by James Young

Lot # 280 (Sale Order: 80 of 127)

The Alfa Romeo 1750 chassis, designed by the great engineerVittorio Jano, was the logical development of his very successful6C, 1500 types. 1750 production began in 1929 and continued until1933 with a total production of around 2,580 units, starting withthe 3rd to the final 6th series. Engine options allowed for singlecam, twin cam and twin cam with a supercharger. We are delighted to offer this very fine example of asingle-cam, six-cylinder 1750 Alfa Romeo bodied by James Young.During 1929, the chassis was delivered to the coachworks of JamesYoung in Bromley, who were established in 1863 making horsedrawn carriages. Their first automobile body was made in 1908and they continued until 1967, during which time apart fromAlfa Romeo, they produced bodywork for Rolls-Royce, Bentley,Daimler, Talbot, Hispano-Suiza, Isotta-Fraschini and others. In total, James Young bodied 57 Alfa Romeo chassis withvarious types of coachwork, such as three position, twoand four seat drophead coupés on the long and short chassis. A fewwere built on the long chassis, of which this is an example, and sohaving rear side windows was known as a four-light coupé. Thisconfiguration made it possible to produce a very elegant full fourseat body. During restoration, the production number 309 was foundto be marked on various parts of the frame and panels, plus some ofthe exterior fittings. The chassis of this car is a 3rd series1750T numbered 0411875 with a single cam engine carrying the samenumber. It is the oldest known 1750 in existence being the 24thbuilt.This 1750 was first registered on March 5th 1930 to a Mr. GeorgeCouper, an Inverness trawler owner and, according to his daughters,it remained in the family ownership until 1950 when it was given toa relation. Its whereabouts upto March 1956 is unclearbut it may still have been in the family ownership. Acontinuation log book, dated March 1956, records six owners up to1968. It was then purchased by the current owner in 1984 froma Mr.Dan Margulies and it is thought to have been off the roadsince the last book entry. The speedometer reading of 59,750 milescan logically believed to be correct, as the car was laid up duringWorld War II and not accounted for from the last book entry to 1984and not driven again until 2011, almost fifty years. The decision was made to carry out a full restoration and adetailed rebuild of the chassis and all the mechanical componentswas commenced in 1992 by the present owner, an automobile engineerof considerable skill and who was Rob Walker's mechanic with overfifty years' experience with the Alfa Romeo marque, having alsoowned many, including two Zagato variants. A number of improvements were carried out during the work tomake the Alfa Romeo more reliable and comfortable for long distancetouring; the most significant being to the engine where thecompression ratio was raised from 5.2 to 7.2-1. Modern shellbearings were fitted to the crankshaft and new con rods were addedwith a full flow filtered oil system. The result is that the carhas better performance than the twin-cam variant of the pre-war1750 engine. New lower vertical and cross shaft gear sets werefitted. The camshaft was re-ground and installed with new linebored bearings valves and caps. The water pump was overhauledand fitted with a stainless steel impeller. New gears were made forthe oil pump and a new set of sliding gears and all new bearingsand seals were fitted to the gearbox. The rear axle gear andpinion were replaced with a new set raising the ratiofrom 10/55 to 12/49. This higher ratio has made the car morecomfortable to drive and has improved the fuelconsumption. All the components were dismantled forexamination and restored as necessary; every bearing and seal wasreplaced. A new wiring harness was made, andmodifications to the side and rear lamps enabled flashingindicators to be incorporated. A discreet installation of anelectronic ignition system has ensured the engine is performing atits best.  When the panels were removed the body timber framewas found to be beyond any sensible repair, so a new Ashframe was constructed and panelled in aluminium to the exactdimensions of the original with great attention to detail. The interior is trimmed with the finest leather from the Bridgeof Weir factory in Scotland. The wood trim veneer is NorthAmerican black walnut, book matched on the instrument panel, doorfacings and rear side trims. The hood is finest quality Mohairand the head lining, wool cloth. The colour is Midnight Blue with agrey line on the exterior waist moulding to match the interiortrim. Only the very best materials were used throughout the rebuildwhich was completed in 2011.  Since that time, the car hascovered about 2,000 miles. There is an extensive file of thebills and photographs of the work carried out, plus the genuineoriginal handbook and period phot

Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Drophead Coupé by Mulliner Park Ward

Lot # 281 (Sale Order: 81 of 127)

Launched in 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III and itsBentley S3 equivalent employed the 6.2-litre, V8 engine introducedon the Cloud II/S2 but with larger carburettors, reviseddistributor, increased compression ratio and a four-speed,GM-derived automatic transmission as standard equipment. Mostobvious among many changes from the preceding models was theadoption of four-headlamp lighting, the absence of sidelights fromthe wing tops and a slightly lower radiator shell. Inside there wasimproved accommodation with separate front seats and increased roomfor rear passengers. Notable as the last mainstream Rolls-Royce toemploy a separate chassis, the Silver Cloud III proved immenselysuccessful both at home and abroad, remaining in production untilthe Autumn of 1965. As well as the factory-bodied cars, bespokecreations from James Young and the recently merged firm of H. J.Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd (by this time Rolls-Royce-owned) continuedto be available on the Silver Cloud III chassis for thosediscerning enthusiasts wealthy enough to afford them. Indeed, asthe factory did not offer a convertible or drophead coupé, acoachbuilt car was the only option if one's preference wasRolls-Royce-style, fresh air motoring. First introduced in 1958, H.J. Mulliner's was the most successful of its type, lasting into1963; more modern 'straight-through wing' designs became thepreferred style thereafter. This design by Norwegian Vilhelm Koren, with its influential continuous front-to-rear wing line, firstappeared on the Bentley S2 Continental in 1959 but did not becomeavailable on non-Continental models (both Bentley and Rolls-Royce)until after the arrival of the Silver Cloud III and S3 in 1962.These 'Chinese Eye' models constituted the majority of coachbuiltvariants completed between 1962 and 1966.This is the very penultimate Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud IIIDrophead Coupé commissioned and the last one ever registered, henceit is a very important part of Rolls-Royce's history. Originallysupplied to the Malaysian royal family, chassis number CSC 81C wasdelivered in June 1966 and was repatriated to the UK around tenyears ago by the Managing Director of the Bentley dealer in Exeter. The car was restored by their skilled craftsman and added to hisown private collection of classic cars. Since restoration, the carhas covered minimal mileage, although this incredibly handsomeSilver Cloud III Drophead Coupé did appear in the film 'LondonBoulevard' and was driven by the Hollywood star Colin Farrell.Finished in midnight blue with grey leather interior, thisRolls-Royce epitomises the first-class quality of such aprestigious marque and iconic vehicle. The comfort of the sumptuousarmchair style seats and the dark rich walnut dash combine to makethis coachbuilt Rolls-Royce a delightful car to look and an evenbetter one to drive. Supplied with a history file, V5 registrationdocument and an MoT test certificate valid until 17th August 2016,this Mulliner Park Ward Drophead Coupé is one of only 100manufactured of which 51 were righthand drive examples such asthis.?

Mercedes-Benz 300SL 'Gullwing'

Lot # 282 (Sale Order: 82 of 127)

Instantly recognizable not only by automobile buffs, butvirtually anyone on the planet, the immortal 300SL (for SportsLeicht) Gullwing coupé arguably competes for the title of 'GreatestEver Sports Car' and surely qualifies for anyone's Top 10 list ofthe greatest motorcars of all time and it ranks today among themost valued and collectable sports cars ever produced. The most striking aspect of the Gullwing, at first glanceanyway, is its appearance. The smooth flowing lines are difficultto fault and are timeless to the point that the cars arecontinually confused by the lay person with a far newer model. Thedoors, of course, are the outstanding feature, and with both ofthem open, the appellation 'Gullwing' becomes obvious. The shape isboth elegant and functional. The few fittings are constructed intypical Daimler-Benz fashion, both in design and execution. Thebumps in the hood, the belt mouldings of anodized aluminium (alongwith the majority of the trim mouldings), the upward opening doors- they are all there for a reason, be it to clear the engine, covera seam in the body panels or provide access to a complicatedchassis. In modern terminology, the Gullwing is a fully integrateddesign, a claim that few cars could make at the time. Though the300SLs were built on a production line in Sindelfingen, assemblywas carried out almost entirely by hand with the only automatedsystem being used to lower the steel body onto the tube framechassis during final assembly. The Gullwing Coupé was in production for a surprisingly shortthree years, during which only 1,400 examples were built. In 1957,the Coupé was replaced by the Roadster version with improved rearsuspension, lower and narrower side sections and a remounted sparewheel that offered an actual trunk with luggage space. Not only didthe styling put Mercedes-Benz in a class by itself, the engine wasunlike anything in other production cars, even those of a sportingnature. To accommodate the low, sleek lines, the engine was cantedat a 45? angle to the left. To make the engine as low as possiblein the car, the production car used a 'dry-sump' oiling system withoil pumped from a separate tank rather than  being held in asump beneath the engine. Completed at the Mercedes-Benz works in March of 1955, thisexceptional Gullwing is finished in the sporting colour of DB534Feuerwehrrot, or Fire Brigade Red, the interior is finished tanleather hide throughout. It was ordered new by Adam Opel AG ofMainz, Germany in February under order or 'Kommission' number '5245 0008' on behalf of Mr. Zdunek, a special client. This, initself, is unusual as very few of the 1955 Gullwings were sold newinto Europe, rather most stock was sent directly into the USA. Theoriginal colour scheme then was silver with a red interior but waschanged around some years later. Shortly after being sold new, the legendary American automotivearchitect and head of design at General Motors, Harley Earl, arranged for the purchase through his close contacts at Opal andhad it shipped to his home in the US before retiring from GMaltogether. Once retired, this and several other of his motorcarswere sold and subsequently acquired by a not insubstantialcollection of Harry Eynon where it would remain for the next 30years before passing to his son, Dennis. Robert Sage then bought itfrom Dennis and began the painstaking 'body-off' restoration thatbegan in 1990 and did not finish until 1994. It was during thisprocess of restoration that the colour was changed from DB180Silver/Grey metallic to DB534 Fire Engine Red and the interiorchanged from red leather to tan. It was also found to be inremarkably original condition and without signs of accident damageor corrosion anywhere.Upon completion of the works, the car was sold to a Museum inJapan under the watchful eye of its private collector. It wouldremain here before purchase and shipping to the USA in 2014. It hasnow been fully re-commissioned by renowned 300SL specialists in theUK, Templar and Wilde and also benefits from a complete rebuiltengine (run-in to 1,000km), re-commissioned fuel-injection system,a rebuilt steering box, and new clutch. Together with new tyres, full UK registration and a full set of belly pans (not fitted),this stunning example has also been confirmed by the Mercedes-Benzfactory to be an all matching-numbers Gullwing. A wonderful exampleof the legendary car, this has a prominent history boasting solidownership and an exciting colour combination. It will undoubtedlyreceive invitations to many of the world's most prestigiousmotoring events.

Jaguar XK120SE Roadster

Lot # 283 (Sale Order: 83 of 127)

The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954;Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100, which ceased productionin 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 LondonMotor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused asensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss WilliamLyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its namereferred to its 120mph top speed which made the XK120 the world'sfastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It wasavailable in two open versions; first as the roadster then also asa drophead coupé from 1953 and also as a closed, or 'fixedhead'coupé from 1951. With an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SUcarburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4-Litre straight-six XKengine was comparatively advanced for mass-produced units of itstime. This same basic design of the XK engine, later modified into3.8-Litre and 4.2-Litre versions, survived late into the1980s. This extremely desirable SE spec XK120, presented in its originalcolour combination of British racing green with burgundy leathertrim comes complete with increased power, stiffer suspension anddual exhaust system. Having recently undergone a full body-offrestoration to a high standard, this example presents beautifullyand the colour combination, paired with the SE spec makes for anextremely desirable roadster. Although the engine was runningperfectly well, the decision was made to replace the head gasket-and all other gaskets- before a full engine service and completeengine detail. The vehicle was pampered with new brakes, new fueltank, fuel and water pumps, hoses and lines, not forgetting the newchrome alloys and carpets, all carried out when originally importedin 2014. The current vendor also went to the great pain of tracking downthe previous owner in the United States in order to justify some ofthe provenance and mileage. To his delight- and after a lot of hardwork- he tracked down Mr. Joe Rogers of Walnut Creek, Californiawho is now 80 years old and not deceased as first thought. Mr.Rogers informed the vendor of his and the car's illustrioushistory, where amazingly at one point in his life, he claimed to behomeless, stating that despite this, the car always had a garage(presumably with him sleeping in or beside it). He married threetimes whilst with the car and called it his 'one true love' whichhe had purchased in 1959 with- we are told- a genuine 17,000 mileshaving been painted red, following the ownership of a racingdriver. The car has always been looked after fastidiously and allparts remained as original. Having been repatriated in 2014, thisXK120 is offered with original letters to the then-owner Mr.Rogers, log books and US titles within the history file, a JaguarHeritage certificate and recent receipts from the extensiverestoration.

Lot # 284 (Sale Order: 84 of 127)

In 1986 Porsche finally offered the slantnose, called Flachbauin German, straight from the factory. The official designation inthe UK was Turbo SE and it is also sometimes referred to as theflatnose. Offered as the ultimate 930 Turbo, this model had anupgraded body and a 330bhp engine. Costing nearly double the standard model, the Flachbau was rarelyordered. Before 1986, Porsche had offered the Flachbau body optionfrom its customer service department known as Sonderwunschen. Thesewere handmade cars, not limited to just the Turbo, but the Carreraand Carrera SC as well. In the 1987 model year, these were put intoproduction with the M505 code for USA for an astounding $23,244extra and M506 for the rest of the world. Despite the panels beingslightly heavier, they were modelled after the 935 race car for topspeed. The conversion required extended rocker panels, wider rearflares with scooped vents and flip-up headlights up front withfunctional louvres. With a jump in horsepower, it's not surprisingthat the Flachbau was the fastest of all 930 models, reaching afactory claimed 171mph. Acceleration was rated by the factory at0-100kph in 5.2 seconds. This excellent Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa was supplied new byJCT600 on 1st August 1988 and taken to Dage Sport Ltd in 1989 whereit was converted to the slantnose specification using originalPorsche metal parts.  Fitted with the G50 gearbox, this 930has a full service history which shows that it has only covered48,760 miles from new. Within the last twelve months this car hasbeen the subject of much attention having the top half of theengine overhauled fitting new 3.2 Carrera specification camshafts, replacing the turbo charger with a Hybrid K27 unit and the bodyworkreceiving a complete respray. Finished in black with black leatherinterior, this superb 930 Turbo Targa is supplied with a V5Cregistration document, an Mot test certificate with no advisorieswhich expires in July 2016, the handbook pack containing theoriginal handbook and fully stamped service book and a filecontaining invoices from the recent restoration. Lot # 285 (Sale Order: 85 of 127)

From 1990 to 1995, Mercedes-Benz sold a high-performance versionof the W124, the Mercedes-Benz 500E. It was created in closeco-operation with Porsche; each one being hand-built by Porsche andtransported back and forth between the Mercedes-Benz plant andPorsche's Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany duringassembly, with a full 18 days being taken to complete each car. The500E had a naturally aspirated 5.0L, V8 engine derived from the500SL (R129) and braking performance also came from SL components. The 500E was manufactured as a four seat saloon and in lefthanddrive only. The leather seats were supplied by Recaro with thefronts being electrically operated and heated. With its aggressive stance, 1.5 inch wider track, lowerprofile, flared wheel arches, side skirts, front air-dam and widertyres, the 500E is easily distinguished from its lesserbrethren. This superb 1992 500E has had three owners from new; the firstowner had the car fully maintained by a top Mercedes-Benz maindealer in Germany where the car was originally registered. Thesecond owner, Mr Peter Rutt, was a well known amateur Porsche 911Sracer and he had the car serviced by the racing team who lookedafter his racing cars; he was also responsible for importing the500E to the UK in 2012. Jaguar XJ 12 C

Lot # 286 (Sale Order: 86 of 127)

The first Jaguar XJ was launched in 1968 and the XJ designationhas been used for successive Jaguar flagship models ever since. Theoriginal model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input ofSir William Lyons, the company's founder. After the series 1 and 2,a relatively short run of two door XJ coupés with a pillarlesshardtop body called the XJ-C was built between 1975 and 1978. Thecar was actually launched at the London Motor Show in October 1973,but it subsequently became clear that it was not ready forproduction and the economic troubles unfolding in the western worldat this time seem to have reduced further any sense of urgencyabout producing and selling the cars. They finally started toemerge from Jaguar showrooms only some two years later.  Thesewere priced higher than the four-door car so immediately wererelatively exclusive. The profile of these sought after touringcars was so attractive, with windows down, that they are often hardto find in good condition.Manufactured on 25th June 1977 and registered in September 1977this has to be described as one of the very best examples of an XJC we have ever seen. Beautifully finished in Squadron blue withoriginal dark blue leather interior, the coachwork combined withthe chrome is extremely pleasing to the eye and it is clear to seethis car was cherished by its previous owner since 1990. Thehistory file is impressive documenting restoration work by PrioryPlace Automotive Limited and Nigel Cooper Coachwork Restorationwhilst the majority of servicing and maintenance was carried out byA K Walters and Jag Shop London all of which combine to offer avery reassuring service history. Offered with a production recordtrace certificate and Jaguar Driver's Club Valuation Certificateswith an MoT test certificates showing no advisories valid untilSeptember 2016, this is a rare opportunity to own a very soughtafter Jaguar in impressive condition.?

Alvis TA14 Three Position Drophead Coupé by Carbodies

Lot # 289 (Sale Order: 89 of 127)

Following the end of World War II, Alvis quickly re-emerged witha revised range of passenger cars. They had been kept busy buildingmilitary vehicles during the war so were able to revert topeacetime products quite quickly. As with most other manufacturers, there was no time or money to develop new lines, therefore the newTA14 was really a freshened-up pre-war version of the 12/70 whichhad been introduced in 1938, the most obvious difference being theadoption of steel disc wheels in place of wires. Alvis had alwayssold well-built cars with sporting pretensions. The TA14 offeredlittle in terms of real performance but did come well equipped andbeautifully finished. The TA14 used an 1892cc, four cylinder engineand rigid axles at the front and rear. Although most TA14's were'Sports Saloons' a few carried drophead coupé coachwork, some beingbuilt by Tickford. The TA14 remained in production until 1950.This is a magnificent old British motorcar with a commandingpresence and, in its day, would have been on a par with aRolls-Royce or Bentley.  This Alvis is an original Carbodiesthree position drophead coupé with all numbers matching and isfinished in gloss black with black hood and original biscuitleather seats. It was off the road for 20 years from 1982-2002 andwas then restored from the ground up including new wood flooringthroughout the car and boot, plus a complete re-spray. The enginewas stripped, inspected and new piston rings were manufactured tofit and the engine was rebuilt and now runs on unleaded petrol. Newworm steering components were fitted and the steering wheelre-coated plus much of the chrome work re-chromed. It had a newstainless steel flexible exhaust fitted plus new headlights andfront grill. Much care and attention has been spent onre-commissioning the car following the restoration which wascompleted in 2003/4. It was then used as a weekend car, forfriends' weddings and school proms. The car has had only a handfulof owners in its long life and has travelled just 66,000 miles fromnew, with a mere 6,000 miles completed since therestoration.

Porsche 356C Outlaw

Lot # 291 (Sale Order: 91 of 127)

The Porsche 356C, being Porsche's first production model, hasgenerated a huge following right across the world with competitionvariants, stock cars and beautifully presented original road cars.A movement has evolved, however, in Southern California for avariant known as the 'Outlaw'. The first 'Outlaw 356' appears to bea 1956 356 Carrera customised by Dean Jeffries in 1957. As soon ashe purchased the car, he started modifying it to showcase hisabilities as a custom car builder. When asked years later why hecustomised a Porsche, he answered, "Because, back then only thesports car guys had any money. All of the hot-rodders were broke."This way of thinking can most easily be seen reflected in theglobal phenomenon of the VW Beetle. Huge industries exist for thepromotion and modification of these iconic motorcars. And so it iswith the Outlaw. We are proud to offer a magnificent example of an Outlaw that ispresented in exceptional condition throughout. Imported into the UKin early 2015, this matching numbers example has been UK registeredand the import duties paid. We are informed that, in 2009,restoration works were carried out by Hamilton Classics, a smallrestoration company located in Texas, who have specialised inrestoring the 356 model since the late 1960s. The engine has beenupgraded with an LN Engineering Nickies Big Bore Kit machined to1883cc with further top end and crankshaft work and a full flow oilfilter. Fuel is supplied via the Weber carburettors and exhaustgases extracted through a Bursch extractor system with a streetmuffler. The interior has been replaced including the headliningand German weave carpet. In addition, this Porsche 356 boasts Lexanside windows, re-upholstered custom 911RS race-style seats withthree point harnesses, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, aluminiumfloorboards and a dead pedal. Dual circuit brakes with discs on allfour wheels are fitted; the brake calipers have been rebuilt andthe brake master cylinder replaced. On arrival into the UK, thepaintwork was found to have suffered from the Californian sun so are-paint was carried out to the high standard in evidence today. Onstrip down, the 356 was found to be remarkably free from corrosionas one would expect from a Southern Californian car and the boot, doors, bonnet and A-posts were found to have matching chassisnumbers stamped on them. On a recent test, the 356C started easilyand demonstrated excellent acceleration with a large amount oftorque whilst sounding wonderful. The car pulled to a stop withease and the instruments recorded as they should.A letter from Porsche Cars Great Britain Limited and aCertificate of Authenticity confirm that this is a genuine 1964356C Coupé. Presented in silver with grey stripes and complementedby a genuine set of 1971 Fuchs wheels, this 356C not only looksfabulous but also has the drive to match.

Ferrari F355 Spider

Lot # 292 (Sale Order: 92 of 127)

The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was anevolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheeldrive, V8-powered two-seat coupé. At launch, two models wereavailable; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. TheSpider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One majordifference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres,is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that isconsiderably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature doesnot follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. enginecapacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 namecomes from three litres plus eight cylinders, with the same for the328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plusnumber of valves per cylinder; proud to boast about thistechnological advancement, with the name 355 coming from 3.5 litresengine capacity and five valves per cylinder. The F355 has becomethe most popular model so far with over 11,273 cars produced. This excellent lefthand drive 1997 F355 Spider is fitted withthe manual gearbox and has only covered 40,380Km (approximately25,000 miles) from new.  It was purchased by the vendor fromthe second lady owner in Germany and imported to the UK a couple ofyears ago. This Ferrari has a full service history which confirmsthe mileage and shows it has recently had the cam belts replacedand a new MoT test carried out. Finished in Ferrari red with greyleather interior, this 355 Spider is supplied with a V5Cregistration document, an MoT test certificate which expires inOctober 2016, the German registration document, a service book, small file of invoices and all equipment that is supplied asstandard when new. With the value of Ferrari cars still rising, this Spider represents excellent value and will give the new ownermany miles of driving pleasure.?

Bentley Continental R

Lot # 293 (Sale Order: 93 of 127)

Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous withprestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designationrecalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R'resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950's as well as theTurbo R of the 1980's. Bentley's 1980's resurgence reliedexclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared withother Rolls-Royce products; however, the Bentley Continental R wasunique to the Bentley marque.  Despite the need to incorporatenon-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, theresult looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the1990's. Needless to say, the performance  was outstanding, thecombination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shapecutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting topspeed to in excess of 150mph.This 1993 registered Continental R is finished in Racing Greenwith Magnolia trim piped in Spruce Green and with Spruce carpets. The dark walnut facia, waistrails and centre console are synonymouswith such a luxury marque. Aesthetically, a Continental R is abeautiful design but this example is further enhanced by thefitment of a chrome radiator grille and matrix. Supplied with a V5registration document, a current MoT test certificate and a servicehistory substantiating the low mileage, this represents excellentvalue in comparison to the price when new. To drive a Continental Ris a memorable experience; this car represents an opportunity toacquire an extremely fine example of a superbmotorcar.?

Dolphin America

Lot # 294 (Sale Order: 94 of 127)

We are delighted to offer this extremely beautiful and rare1960s American sports racing car manufactured by the DolphinEngineering Company, El Cajon, San Diego, California. The companywas formed in 1958 by Bud Hull along with the British chassisdesigner John Crosthwaite who had famously been involved with Lotusand Cooper Cars Limited. Dolphin's first car, the Mk. I Junior, ranwith a Fiat engine and transmission. Whilst successful, the latestdesigns from Lotus and Cooper required the West Coast constructorsto re-design the rear engine layout so as to remain competitive. This led to the Dolphin International of 1961. The new chassis wasof a tubular design by Crosthwaite and elegantly bodied by DickTroutman of Scarab fame. The Ford 105E powered International wasdriven to notable success by ex-pat Ken Miles. By this time, in1961, Dolphin targeted the popular sports racer classes and beganto develop a new car. Development fell to Don Maslin as Crosthwaitehad now left the company, with the new car being known as theDolphin America. This full bodied car retained the nose-cone of theInternational with added wings, creating a Ferrari 250Testarossa-esque appearance. The rear body was developed from amould taken from Maslin's own modified Lotus Eleven known as the'Wotus Bwossomi'! There is some speculation and discussion as tohow many Dolphin America cars were built, but it is believed to bein the region of 12 being produced with various engines including,Ford, Abarth, Coventry Climax and Porsche before, due to financialdifficulties, the Dolphin Engineering Company closed it doors in1964.Chassis No. 2 has recently been imported into the UK fromCalifornia and is believed to be the sister development chassis tothe well known car that Ken Miles campaigned. That particular carwas fitted with a Porsche 1,700cc RS61 engine and is known as thePorphin. Chassis No. 2 today is fitted with a highly tuned 105EFord pre-crossflow engine fuelled via the twin 40 DCOE carburettorswith drive via a Hewland five-speed gearbox and transaxle. In 2010,whilst still in California, extensive works were carried out by thehighly respected vintage racing specialists, Virtuoso Performanceof Hayward, California. An extensive breakdown of these works(including testing) is detailed on the invoices that reside in thehistory file and is too extensive to list here but does include afull engine strip and rebuild. In addition, further works includedthe flywheel, clutch, suspension, pinion ratios and conversion tofive-speed gearbox; these bills total over $68,000.  Thewheels are of magnesium construction and are fitted with a new setof Dunlop historic racing tyres. The rear suspension uprights arealso made of magnesium and the shock absorber bodies have beenfitted with steel bodies for compliance- the alloy bodiesoriginally supplied are included. Disc brakes were fitted at thefront as standard with drum brakes to the rear; however, rear discbrakes have been fitted with the original alloy finned andlightened drum brakes available for re-instatement, if so wished.Jacob Engineering, Gloucestershire, England, specialist engineersfor historic Sports and racing cars originally supplied thesteering wheels to Dolphin and still hold the patterns. It was fromthese patterns that Jacob Engineering recently supplied a newlybuilt steering wheel as would have been fitted in the period. Twoboxes of parts and a spare engine are included. An extensive fileaccompanies Chassis No. 2 which includes invoices, period picturesand three period magazines; two Car and Driver 1961 and 1962, plusSports Car Graphic from August 1963. These magazines featureDolphin within them. A letter from Phil Binks, Dolphin Historianand owner of Dolphin America No. 6, FJ and No. 9 states: "WhenDolphin closed its doors in 1964 everything was auctioned off. Dr.Charles Thompson bought America Model No. 2 at that time. Thisconsisted of a bare frame, suspension parts, a steering rack, frontand rear uprights, brakes and two seats. The chassis is a sistercar to the Porsche Dolphin America that Otto Zipper owned and KenMiles drove." He adds, "Dr. Thompson campaigned an earlyDolphin/Abarth 750 America. This was previously raced by a wellknown Southern Californian, Dan Parkinson. Doc continued to racethe old car and over the years heavily modified it, changing thebody, suspension, brakes and installed a Yamaha motorcycle engine. The kit he bought at auction hung for many years in Doc's garage. Iacquired all of the car from him sometime in the 1980s. It wasstored in my garage until I shipped it to my son Dan Binks in thelate 1990s. Dan started work on the car in the early 2000s andfinished in 2005. He installed a period-correct Ford engine andHewland transmission. Dan is Chief Mechanic for the Pratt &Miller Corvette Race Team and is crew chief on the No.3 car. Danwas my crew chief on my Dolphin America when he was 15 years old,he also built my race engines at that time and continued for thenext 35 years.

Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé

Lot # 295 (Sale Order: 95 of 127)

The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 tocreate a combination of good looks, high performance andcompetitive pricing. Established as an icon of 1960's motoring anda great success for Jaguar, more than 70,000 E-Types were soldduring its lifespan. The Series I was introduced, initially forexport only, in March 1961, with the domestic market launch comingfour months later, in July of that year. The cars at this time usedthe triple SU carburetted, 3.8-Litre six cylinder XK engine fromthe XK150's. The first 300 cars built had flat floors and externalbonnet latches and are considered to be rare and more valuable. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and thebonnet latches moved inside the car, whilst underneath the bonnet, the engine size increased to 4.2-Litres in October 1964.This lefthand drive 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Coupé waspurchased by the vendor in Australia through an agent who purchasedclassic cars in the USA. This Jaguar was located in California andwas shipped to Australia in 2007 arriving in Adelaide on the 12thDecember. The E-Type is a numbers matching car as shown in theHeritage Certificate from Jaguar and was fitted with a WebastoSunroof from new. For the next three years the vendor started topurchase parts for this car over the internet including five newwire wheels, full length floor panels, aluminium radiator withelectric fan, various body panels including new sills, glasswindscreen washer bottle, a retro radio with Bluetooth and rearlights; a complete ground up restoration was then started by threespecialist companies in the Adelaide Hills. Due to the vendormoving to China for his work he was in no rush to complete thisrestoration. The engine, gearbox and differential were completelyrebuilt by Car Craft in Mount Barker, the body with the new fulllength floors was restored by Autocar Creations in Strathalbyn andthe new leather interior was carried out by a specialist upholsterycompany, Header Tarps, in Mannum. Only two modifications were madeto improve the driving comfort with the addition of an aluminiumradiator with an electric cooling fan and electronic ignition. Therestoration was completed on the E-Type at the end of 2014 but theowner has extended his contract in China for another three years sohe has reluctantly decided to sell this stunning coupé. The car wasnever registered in Australia and was only driven approximately60km from Mount Barker to Adelaide where it was stored for sixmonths before being shipped to England arriving in October thisyear. Finished in its original colour of Opalescent Golden Sandwith light tan leather interior, this beautifully restored E-Typeis fully UK taxes paid, NOVA certificated and comes supplied with acopy of the Jaguar Heritage certificate and a UK MoT testcertificate which expires in October 2016. Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Ponton

Lot # 296 (Sale Order: 96 of 127)

Introduced in 1956, the 220 S saloon was one of a trio of newmodels featuring unitary construction bodyshells employing large,box-section side members; hence the term 'Ponton'; the others beingthe 190 and 219. All round coil-sprung independent suspension hadlong been a fixture of the Mercedes-Benz range and that of thenewcomers benefitted from the newly developed single pivot rearswing axle. Short-wheelbase Coupé and Cabriolet versions of the 220S soon followed. Luxuriously equipped in the best Daimler-Benztradition, these superbly constructed touring cars were priced some70% above the 220 S saloon. In 1958, the 220 range was updated witha fuel-injected version of the 2.2-litre overhead-camshaft sixcylinder engine, becoming the 220 SE. Maximum power increased from106 to 115bhp and while top speed remained unchanged at around100mph, there was a useful improvement in acceleration; the 0-60mphtime reducing by two seconds. By the time production ceased inNovember 1960, fewer than 2,000 220 SE Coupé and Cabriolet modelshad been manufactured and today these stylish and luxuriouslyequipped grand tourers are highly prized.Only seven righthand drive 220 SE convertibles were manufacturedand this fine example is finished in Dunkblau (Blue/Black) withmaroon leather interior. This Mercedes-Benz was imported to the UKfrom South Africa by a Nigerian Diplomat who used it sparingly andtook great care of its upkeep. He stored it in London and had itmaintained by Mercedes-Benz specialists, Portland Motors ofPortland Road, London, W11 until 2004, when it was purchased by thevendor.  He took the car to Mercedes-Benz specialists inCardiff who stripped off the old paint, took care of any necessaryrepairs and repainted it. Once completed, the vendor kept the carwith his collection of classic cars in the North of England and ithas had little use since the restoration other than a 1,000 mileholiday through France and appearances at Mercedes-Benz rallies andevents, all of which passed off without hitch. The car is suppliedwith a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificateand invoices going back to 2001. Very rare Mercedes-Benz such asthis example have attracted attention in recent years, thisdesirable classic should prove to be a sound investment.

It wasdeveloped in collaboration with the McLaren Technology Centrewhich, at the time, was partially owned by Mercedes-Benz. WhileFerrari and Porsche pursued creating the best all-out supercarsthat the world had ever seen, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren attemptedto create a car that coupled the best aspects of supercars withthat of grand tourers. Ferrari Testarossa

Lot # 300 (Sale Order: 100 of 127)

Ferrari unveiled the new Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Showmarking the end of production of the Boxer, the car that had beenthe flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari model for the previous ten years.Styled by Pininfarina, the Testarossa paid homage to the great 50ssports racer that originally bore the name, simply translating as'Red Head'; the rocker covers being painted red. The mid-engined,rear wheel drive configuration allowed the center of gravity to bepositioned in the middle of the car, with a weight distributionratio of 40% front and 60% rear, thus achieving excellent corneringand road holding ability. The Testarossa was produced with 16''five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels and disc brakes fitted all round;with 309mm discs at the front and 310mm discs at the rear. TheTestarossa was larger than its Boxer predecessor; six inches widerand some 2½ inches longer which allowed more leg room. In addition, the temperature inside the cockpit was reduced as twin radiatorswere mounted in the rear; unlike the Boxer, where the single frontmounted radiator had plumbing from the bonnet to the engine behindthe seats, which made the cabin very hot, especially on a warm day.The distinctive side vents were as useful as they were visuallystriking, allowing excellent engine ventilation, whilstcontributing to the car's unique styling.Beautifully displayed in Rossa Corsa red with Tan Leatherinterior, this example of Ferrari's Testarossa was originally aSouthern California car that was brought to the Midwest of theUnited States in late 2011. In August 2012 and at 60,686 miles thisexample had an extensive engine-out service by Norwood Performancein Dallas, Texas, entailing £30,000 of service items; fuse blockand relay rebuild, repacking and replacing of all four axle bootsand an air conditioning service. In June 2013 the vehicle alsopassed a strict Texas emissions test and in August last year hadnew BFG G-Force Sport Comp2 tyres fitted at 60,930 miles, alldemonstrating exceptional recent ownership and care of the car. Its4.9-Litre 390bhp flat-12 Ferrari Colombo engine. Offered with anup-rated stereo and alarm system, leather bound manual and backupPDF printout, combined with original factory tool and jack-kit,this fine example of the popular Pininfarina styled icon isattractively priced given the recent values achieved for thismarque.
