US Model 1836 R. Johnson Contract Service Pistol

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 387)      

SERIAL #: None
DESIGN: Flintlock operated single shot service pistol manufactured under contract by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut. 8-1/2” octagon to round barrel. .54 caliber. Single trigger.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Wood stock. Case hardened lock plate, hammer and frizzen. All mountings are iron.
FEATURES: Brass blade front sight. Oval shaped rear sight on top barrel tang. Iron backstrap with integral butt cap. Lock plate stamped "US / R. JOHNSON / MIDD CONN / 1837" in front of the hammer. Top rear of barrel at breech proofed "US / EB / P". Swivel type steel ramrod with button shaped head. One barrel band with strap extension which joins the side plate. Blued trigger and frizzen spring. Brass flash pan. Other metal parts finished bright. Inspector's cartouches on left side of stock behind side plate.
CONDITION: Very Good. Metal surfaces show modest wear with some old nicks and pitting. Case colors on lock plate are largely absent with faint lock plate stamping. The hammer and action operate correctly. Stock shows modest wear with numerous scrapes and dents. One small hairline crack extends from the rear of the lock plate on the right side. Cartouches on left side of stock plainly visible.

DESIGN: 3rd variation Spur trigger revolver with 5-shot removable cylinder. 3" tip-up barrel with solid rib. .30 Short Rim Fire Caliber.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Nickel plated barrel and cylinder. Brass frame. Case hardened hammer and spur trigger. Smooth rosewood grip panels.
FEATURES: Blade front sight. Groove rear sight at front of brass frame. Knurled hammer. Bird's head grip. Short fluted cylinder. Left side of barrel stamped "J.M. MARLIN NEW HAVEN,CT. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 1, 1873". Serial number matches on bottom inside portion of barrel assembly and rear face of cylinder.
CONDITION: Fine. Approximately 80% of the plated finish remains unblemished with moderate flaking at the rear of the barrel assembly and front face of cylinder. Moderate wear to both sides of frame. Bore and cylinder are fair. Minimal wear to grip panels.

Joe Frazier's Colt Model 1877 Lightning Revolver

DESIGN: Double action with 6-shot removable cylinder. 4-1/2" barrel. .38 Colt caliber.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Case hardened frame. Checkered black hard rubber grip panels with the rampant colt at the top.
FEATURES: Blade front sight. Groove rear sight. Case hardened knurled hammer. Bird's head grip. Blued steel knurled cylinder pin release. Loading gate and ejector rod on right side of frame and barrel assembly. Long cylinder fluting. Top of barrel stamped with manufacturer and address information. Serial number matches on bottom of frame and trigger assembly. Accompanied by Letter of Provenance Certificate signed by Frazier's daughter Weatta Collins. Also comes De Santis right handed black leather hip holster.
CONDITION: Very good. Less than 30% of the blued finish remains on metal components. Case colors are faint. Bore and cylinder are very good. Double action cycle operates very well. Good cylinder lock up. Moderate wear to grip panels with a repair to bottom of left grip panel. Holster shows modest wear.

CONDITION: Fine. Light patina to the metal components. Hammer and trigger operate smoothly. One small hairline crack to the grip on the right side near the top tang at the pin. Minimal wear to the rest of the grip.

CONDITION: Good. Moderate discoloration to brass frame. Barrel assembly and cylinder have a loose fit to the frame. Modest wear to grip panels. 2) Tiger No.2 Spur Trigger Revolver - .31 Cal. SERIAL #: None

CONDITION: Poor. Moderate loss and flaking to the plated surfaces. Cylinder release is missing, causing the cylinder to have a loose fit to the frame. Cylinder also spins freely. DESIGN: Single action with 7-shot cylinder. 2-1/2" barrel.

MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Steel components. One piece wood stock.
FEATURES: Brass blade front sight. Brass barrel band and side plate, back strap and grip cap, trigger guard. Lock plate stamped "US / H. ASTON & CO." in front of the hammer and MIDDTN / CONN / 1851" vertically behind the hammer. Top rear of barrel at breech proofed "US / WN". Two inspector cartouches on left side of stock above trigger guard. Swivel type steel ramrod with button shaped head.
CONDITION: Very Good. Metal surfaces show modest wear with some discoloration and old pitting. The hammer and action operate correctly. Stock shows modest wear with numerous scrapes and dents. Cartouches on left side of stock plainly visible.

MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: All metal components finished in the white. Smooth wood grip panels.
FEATURES: Conical bead front sight. Folding trigger. Swing out loading gate on right side of frame and ejection rod on right side of barrel assembly. Cylinder stamped " *C " over the Belgian proof mark. Left side of frame stamped with the serial # with the " *C " proof forward of that. Right side of barrel assembly stamped "61 / CSA (in old script, possibly for Confederate States of America) / (crown/R/*/C) proof". Left side of barrel assembly stamped "4".
CONDITION: Very good. Sporadic old pitting on metal components. Loading gate and ejection rod both work. Cylinder spins freely. Hammer cocks but does not fall when the trigger is pulled. Moderate wear to grip panels.

FEATURES: No sights. The entire grip frame and stock is engraved with modest scroll work and straight line decoration. One barrel band. Grip comes to a conical point at the rear. Iron ramrod.
CONDITION: Significant old pitting to iron components. Modest discoloration to grip and frame. Frizzen pivots back and forth. Top jaw and screw are operational. Hammer will not stay in the fully cocked position.

MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Smooth wood grip panels.
FEATURES: Blade front sight. V-notch rear sight. Knurled hammer. Spur trigger. Rotating firing pin. Top barrel cluster stamped "ADDRESS SHARPS & HANKINS, PHILADELPHIA, PENN.". Right side of frame stamped "C. SHARPS PATENT / JAN 25. 1859". Push button barrel release on left side of frame allows barrel cluster to slide forward for loading and unloading. Serial number matches on frame and bottom of barrel cluster.
CONDITION: Very good. Less than 50% of the finish remains on the barrel cluster, hammer and trigger. Very light scratches and handling marks. Barrel release button is very tight and will not drop down far enough to allow the barrel cluster to close on the frame properly. Grip panels show modest wear with some loss of surface finish.

Pair of L. Lecomte Marked Percussion Pistols

DESIGN: Pair of English made percussion single shot pistols. 12-1/2” octagonal to round barrels. Single triggers. Bores measure to approximately .670"
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Barrels and lock assemblies finished in the white. Full length wood stocks.
FEATURES: Each pistol has a brass blade front sight. Brass fore-end tip, trigger guard, ramrod holders, and grip cap. Top rear of barrel crown proofed. Lock plate stamped "L * LECOMTE". Wood ramrod with brass tip. Wood stock has nice contoured relief carving around the tang, lock plate, and side plate. The initials "DM" are carved into both stocks just in front of the trigger guards on the left side.
CONDITION: Fine. Modest discoloration to barrel and lock assemblies from old pitting. Nipples are deformed. Hammers and triggers work. Modest discoloration to brass furniture at the edges and crevices. 4-1/4" of one of the ramrods is missing.

CONDITION: Very Good. Approximately 90% of the finish remains on metal components. Barrel and slide have been refinished in matte blue. Frame shows most of its wear at the edges. Bore is excellent. Modest wear to grip panels. Holster is excellent showing minimal wear.

Left side of slide engraved with a depiction of the battle of Belleau Wood. Right side of slide stamped within scrollwork, "1917 WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE 1967". Manufacturer and address stamped below that. Right grip panel decorated with a quarter sized medallion listing the countries involved in the "Great War of Civilization". Left grip panel decorated with a quarter sized medallion showing the US eagle and small rectangular medallion labeled "BELLEAU WOOD". Pistol comes with one magazine and is mounted in a wood display box with Plexiglas cover. The background in the display box is labeled at the top, "WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE COLT .45 AUTOMATIC PISTOL" and at the bottom "THE BATTLE OF BELLEAU WOOD / "It was, indeed, the one battle that halted the German offensive, began the ebb tide of German fortunes...and saved Paris from occupation...". FEATURES: Blade front sight. Dovetailed u-notch rear sight. Knurled hammer. Beavertail grip safety. Lanyard ring at bottom of grip. Left side of slide engraved with leaf scroll work encompassing the phrase "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE / EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS". Right side of slide engraved with leaf scroll work encompassing the phrase "NORTH ATLANTIC * TUNISIA * SICILY * PLOESTI * SALERNO * ANZIO * NORMANDY * BASTOGNE * PEMAGEN * BERLIN". DESIGN: Semiautomatic with detachable magazine. 4" barrel.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Checkered wood grip panels.
FEATURES: Blade front sight. V-notch rear sight. The top front of the barrel assembly is stamped "1916". Top of toggle action marked "DWM". Butt stock lug at bottom of rear grip strap. Lanyard loop at top rear of frame. Serial number matches on frame, bottom of barrel, barrel assembly and various other components. Comes with period black leather holster with Nazi insignia and two non matching magazines.
CONDITION: Very good. Approximately 85% + of the finish remains on metal components. Light muzzle wear and spotty pit marks. Minimal wear to grip panels. Holster shows modest wear and is very supple.

DESIGN: Semiautomatic with detachable magazine made by Fabrique National under Browning's patent. 4-1/2" barrel. Modified model 1910 that was sold to the Yugoslav military in 1922. Made primarily for police and military contracts.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Checkered wood grip panels.
FEATURES: Blade front sight. Rear Dovetailed v-notch sight. Left side of slide stamped "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE / BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE". Proofed on left side of frame with "Nazi eagle / WaA140". Serial number stamped on right side of frame above trigger and on right front of barrel.
