DESIGN: Flintlock operated single shot service pistol manufactured under contract by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut. 8-1/2” octagon to round barrel. .54 caliber. Single trigger.
MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Wood stock. Case hardened lock plate, hammer and frizzen. All mountings are iron.
FEATURES: Brass blade front sight. Oval shaped rear sight on top barrel tang. Iron backstrap with integral butt cap. Lock plate stamped "US / R. JOHNSON / MIDD CONN / 1837" in front of the hammer. Top rear of barrel at breech proofed "US / EB / P". Swivel type steel ramrod with button shaped head. One barrel band with strap extension which joins the side plate. Blued trigger and frizzen spring. Brass flash pan. Other metal parts finished bright. Inspector's cartouches on left side of stock behind side plate.
CONDITION: Very Good. Metal surfaces show modest wear with some old nicks and pitting. Case colors on lock plate are largely absent with faint lock plate stamping. The hammer and action operate correctly. Stock shows modest wear with numerous scrapes and dents. One small hairline crack extends from the rear of the lock plate on the right side. Cartouches on left side of stock plainly visible.

Invoices will be sent at close of auction noting purchase price of all lots won, buyer's premium and any applicable taxes and fees. To establish a tax free sale, a copy of a valid reseller's permit or license must be provided. Any purchaser claiming an exemption who is unable to provide proof will be required to pay the tax and seek a refund from the state of Pennsylvania. Generally all items shipped out of state are sales tax free sales. Buyers are responsible for compliance with the laws of the state in which they reside.
Payment to be made in five (5) days from invoice date via credit card, debit, cash, checks, money orders, cashier checks or wire transfers. There will be a 3% discount for payment with cash, checks, debit card and money orders. Checks are held for ten (10) business days. Cordier Auctions provides shipping for firearms (except NRR firearms). The cost is: Long guns: $50 for first long gun; $25 for each additional long gun won. Handguns: $65 for first handgun; $35 for each additional handgun won. Shipping for all non-firearm items and NRR firearms is the responsibility of the buyer. Cordier Auctions will assist the buyer in arranging shipping through one of the listed shippers. NOTE: Items to be picked up or shipped within one week of the auction date, after which storage fees in the amount of $5 per item per day will apply. International purchases exceeding $1,000 require a wire transfer of funds. $50 fee to be applied to total. Shipping is subject to any restrictions of the purchaser’s country.

Out of state residents must have an FFL or a licensed dealer in their state to receive UPS shipments of handguns. Modern rifle and shotgun purchasers must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to purchase firearms. C&R lots will convey to C&R FFL holders per Federal regulations. Buyers are responsible for compliance with the laws of the state in which they reside.
