Item Details
The Winchester Model 1894, or Model 94, is a lever-action repeating rifle & carbine that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time. It was designed by John Browning in 1894, and originally chambered to fire two metallic black powder cartridges, the .32-40 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester. It was an almost instant success for Winchester. Its lightweight, compact design, paired with the power packing punch, quickly made it popular among hunters. Its success was pushed even further during World War I after the U.S. Army signed an order for 1,800 rifles to members of the Signal Corps stationed in the Pacific Northwest. The Winchester Model 1894 went to war again during World War II, this time in the hands of the Canadian Pacific Coast Rangers guarding against Japanese invasion along the West Coast of Canada. One of the best-selling lever action rifles in American history, the Winchester Model 1894 hit the one million mark in 1927. This highly ornate and detailed custom grade Model 94 lever-action rifle commemorates the 200th anniversary of Oliver F. Winchester's birth in 1810 - a most fitting way to remember a gentleman with the genius and vision to see product potential in firearm development. This model is deeply embellished with delicate scroll work, with Oliver F. Winchester’s signature in gold on top of the bolt. The left side of the receiver bears an early Winchester Repeating Arms crest. On the right side are the words, "Two Hundred Years, Oliver F. Winchester," and the dates, "1810 — 2010." The fancy Grade II/III walnut stock is enhanced with a high gloss finish and is delicately checkered, complementing the fine embellishments on the silver nitride receiver. This model is chambered in the timeless 30-30 Win. caliber, with a deeply blued 24" half-round, half octagon barrel, adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and is fitted with a Marble’s gold bead front sight. This gun appears to be unfired in box with paperwork and appears to be in good working order.
