WWII German Gustloff Werke "bcd/4" Code K98k Long Rail Sniper

Lot # 3502 (Sale Order: 503 of 749)

Scarce World War II German Gustloff Werke "bcd/4" K98k Long Rail Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Scope and Matching Scope Mount

Manufactured late during World War II in Suhl, this Gustloff Werke K98k rifle is outfitted in the "long rail sniper" configuration, with the 3 1/2 inch long mounting rail secured to the receiver side wall with two guide pins and three screws, the latter also fitted with a set of smaller lock screws; mechanically this mounting system was very similar to the American-fielded M1C Sniper, though the use of an extended mount arrangement to bring the scope directly over the bore simplified armorer installation and end-user adjustment of the optics. The rifle is fitted with a hooded blade front sight and a tangent rear sight, with the receiver ring manufacturer code marked "bcd/4" on the breech of the barrel. Small eagle proofs stamped on various components. Mounted on the rail is a "bek" code Dialytan 4x scope numbered "77465/+", with a ring and matching mount set numbered "1276." All matching visible serial numbers. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock, which has a matching serial number to the rifle stamped in the bottom of the butt, with a checkered cupped steel buttplate. Includes leather sling and scope covers.

Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun

Very good, retains 30% mostly faded original blue finish with smooth brown and gray patina on the balance and some patches of pitting. Stock is fine with some scattered scratches and dents, and a clear stamping. Mechanically excellent. Scope and mount are fine, retaining 70% plus of the original blue finish on the tube with some smooth brown patina on the dial and rear objective piece, and the optics are a bit hazy with a solid reticle. High quality examples of late war German sniper rifles are rare on the market, as many snipers made a point to destroy or discard their equipment prior to capture for fear of reprisals.

WWII Mauser Model G41(M) Gas Trap Rifle

Lot # 3503 (Sale Order: 504 of 749)

Scarce World War II Mauser Model G41(M) Semi-Automatic Gas Trap Rifle with Sling

Manufactured circa 1941-1942 on orders from the German Weapons Office, the G41(M) uses the "Bang" pattern gas trap seen on other early German semi-automatics, in combination with a bolt action style, non-reciprocating mismatched number bolt handle. On the first shot the bolt would be used to chamber a round and cock the striker, with the follow-up shots being gas-operated semi-automatic, with the option to revert to the bolt in event of a gas system failure. Hooded blade front and notch rear sight, with the distinctive gas trap at the muzzle, "G.41(M)/1942" on the receiver ring, and the two position safety switch on the hinged dust cover. Smooth hardwood stock, fitted with milled barrel bands, a brown leather sling and a cupped buttplate.

Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun

Fine, with 95% of the custom high polish refinished blue finish remaining, showing some mild handling marks and a few areas of brown patina overall. The trap cone, magazine and bolt show mild pitting. Bolt assembly is a mismatched replacement. Stock is very good as refinished, with some chipping near the buttplate and a few minor pressure dents and scuffs. Mechanically very good.

"DP" Prefix Inglis High Power Mk. I* Pistol

Lot # 3508 (Sale Order: 509 of 749)

Excellent Canadian "DP" Prefix Inglis High Power Mk. I* Semi-Automatic Pistol

Features fixed blade front and adjustable tangent rear sights, lanyard loop on the left side of the grip frame, two line model and address markings on the left slide of the slide, Canadian "crown/flag poles/D/C/P" proofs on the right side of the frame and slide, and, matching "DP89" serial numbers on the right side of the slide, barrel, and frame. The "DP" prefix was long debated as potentially meaning "Drill Purpose," which is refuted in Clive Law's book "Inglis Diamond: The Canadian High-Power Pistol." While the meaning is still not fully understood, it is noted that the "DP" prefix was used on demonstration pistols for potential contracts (as was the case with the Chinese contract demonstration pistols) and that some of these pistols were purportedly recorded as shipped to Mexico, with an example being serial number "DP105." This pistol is also unique in that it retains the earlier production adjustable tangent rear sights instead of the fixed notch rear sights as seen on serial number "DP104," which purportedly belonged to Inglis engineer Tom Clift. Fitted with a pair of checkered plastic grips. Regardless of the true meaning, very few "DP" prefix Inglis High Power pistols have been recorded, and they are exceedingly difficult to find in any condition.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Excellent overall, retaining 98% original factory phosphate finish with scattered light handling marks and edge wear, along with remnants of orange paint on the slide near the muzzle and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. One would spend a great deal of time trying to locate a "DP" prefix Inglis High Power in similar condition.
