These revolvers are even more rare than their Registered Magnum model counterparts with only about 1,400 manufactured compared about 5,400 Registered Magnums. Factory Engraved S&W M&P Model 1905 Revolver

Lot # 1605 (Sale Order: 605 of 674)

Factory Engraved Smith & Wesson 38 Hand Ejector Military & Police Model of 1905 Revolver with Pearl Grips and Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1908 this Smith & Wesson M&P Model of 1905 First Change is a very early, very scarce Oscar Young factory engraved Smith & Wesson revolver which features an all nickel finish with a casehardened hammer and trigger and fitted with factory pearl grips with Smith & Wesson medallions. The sides of the barrel, frame, cylinder flats, and backstrap are nicely floral scroll and punch dot engraved covering about 1/3 of the revolver. The left side of the barrel is marked "38 S&W SPECIAL/& U.S. SERVICE CTG'S" in a panel and the right side is marked with the three line address/patent dates, also in a panel. The right side of the frame is marked with the Smith & Wesson trademark logo. The revolver is fully documented with a Smith & Wesson letter dated July 2, 1985 which gives a brief history of the M&P Model of 1905 revolver and verifies the serial number, factory engraving, nickel finish, pearl grips and that it was shipped from the factory on December 28, 1908 to a Harry M. Styner.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Excellent overall with 97% of the unpolished original nickel plated finish, with just a small amount of wear around the muzzle and a few very small areas of flaking on the cylinder. The hammer retains 98% original vivid case colors and the trigger has a smooth gray with mottled discoloration. The factory pearl grips are exceptional with great color on both panels and only light handling marks. Just a super example of a very scarce, documented factory engraved Smith & Wesson M&P Model 1905 revolver with factory pearl grips.

Smith & Wesson .357 Registered Magnum Double Action Revolver

Lot # 1606 (Sale Order: 606 of 674)

Smith & Wesson .357 Registered Magnum Double Action Revolver with 5 Inch Barrel

From 1935 to 1939 some 5,400 Registered Magnums were manufactured by S&W and were virtually a custom made handgun. The .357 Magnum was the most powerful handgun cartridge at the time, and this “state of the art” handgun quickly gained popularity with law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, looking for a sidearm to deliver more stopping power and popularized big game handgun hunting. Simply put, these Registered Magnums forged the legacy of the .357 Magnum cartridge. This is one of only 869 Registered Magnums manufactured with a 5 inch barrel, a popular barrel length with law enforcement. The revolver has a pinned blade front sight, an adjustable square notch rear sight, "REG 273" stamped on the inside of the frame, checkered S&W Magna grips with right panel numbered to a different gun (60634), and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, and ejector shroud.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Extremely fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with a spot of cold blue visible on right center barrel rib, a cylinder drag line, some high edge wear, numerous scratches, and some handling marks. 85% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are fine with some scattered handling marks and an indentation in the overall softened checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Excellent and Very Rare Early Production First Series Swiss Army SIG P210 (Pistole 49) Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster Rig

John Martz Custom .45 ACP Luger Pistol with J.V. Martz Letter

Lot # 1625 (Sale Order: 625 of 674)

Scarce and Desirable John Martz Custom P.08 Pattern "2002" Dated .45 ACP Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with J.V. Martz Letter and Extra Magazine

Operating out of his home workshop in Roseville, California, John V. Martz (1924-2013) was best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which were performed by him and often took several months of complete. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later had a career as a metalworker before turning his hobby as a gunsmith into a full-time venture. Manufactured using a combination of new-made components and vintage Luger parts, this pistol takes an overall form and configuration similar to a Imperial German Navy Pattern Luger, up-sized to run the larger .45 ACP cartridge. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, "2002" date on top of the extension, "crown/N" proof on the left side of the extension, "JVM" marked on the front toggle link, "MSTR" on the left frame rail for Martz Safe Toggle Release mechanism (which converts the safety switch into a dual purpose safety and toggle release lever), "74" and "JVM" in an oval under the sideplate on the frame. Fitted with a pair of checkered oiled walnut grips with attractive contrasting grain, with matching serial numbers, oval "JVM", and "CKS" marked on the underside of each. Includes an extra bright magazine with oiled hardwood base marked "2" and "JVM", takedown tool, an extra pair of checkered walnut grips, and a signed John V. Martz letter dated November 27, 2003, which includes the detail that he had made 80 such pistols at that point but did not plan on making any more.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Very fine as professionally custom upgraded to current configuration by John V. Martz, retaining 98% plus factory quality blue finish and 60% plus straw colors with limited minor edge wear and handling marks. The grips are also very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. J.V. Martz .45 ACP Luger pistols are difficult to come by, especially a late production example such as this!
