Blaser R93 Single Shot Straight Pull Rifle with Kahles Scope

Lot # 1589 (Sale Order: 589 of 674)

Blaser R93 Single Shot Straight Pull Bolt Action Rifle with Kahles Scope

The Blaser series of rifles are known for their extreme modularity. The design allows the user to change the barrel assembly with just two screws. Their other claim to fame is that they retain zero after doing so by having the scope mounted to the barrel rather than the receiver. This makes swaps quick and easy in the field. The fluted heavy barrel bears the 1997 date proof, maker, caliber, and model info on the left and an importer mark on the right. The barrel is topped with a Kahles K525i 5-25x56 scope (commonly retails around $3,000). The receiver is currently set up with a single shot "sled" installed. Mounted in a multipoint checkered forend and thumbhole stock with Bavarian cheekpiece, and solid recoil pad.

Class: Modern Long Gun

Excellent, retaining 98% original black finish with some minor muzzle wear. Stock is very fine with some dings and scratches, a chip in the pistol grip, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Optics clear, reticle crisp.

Karl Furr/Paul Kuhni Miniature Police Model 1893 Gatling Gun

Lot # 1593 (Sale Order: 593 of 674)

Karl Furr/Paul Kuhni Miniature Police Model 1893 Gatling Gun with Tripod

Manufactured in 1976, this is a 1/3 scale functional copy of the Colt/Gatling Police Model 1893. An evolution of Richard Gatling's original 1862 design, the 1893 Gatling integrates a full brass housing from the barrel group, which protects the mechanism from debris, sea spray, and other hazards, as well as the Accles pattern magazine, a donut-shaped drum with on-board drive rotor, which allows for higher and more consistent rates of fire than the gravity-fed magazines of earlier models. The top of the body bears a reproduction of the original Colt/Gatling markings and Karl Furr and Paul Kuhni's markings are on the underside of the gear box along with the 1976 production date. The gun is installed on a folding brass tripod. Matching exterior numbers are present throughout.

Class: Modern Other Firearm

S&W .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model Triple Lock DA Revolver

Lot # 1595 (Sale Order: 595 of 674)

Outstanding Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model Triple Lock Double Action Revolver with Extra Matching Barrel and Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letters confirm both the finish and checkered walnut grips and states that this revolver was part of a 10 unit shipment of the Triple Lock Model 4 and 6 1/2 inch barrel lengths when it left the factory on June 18, 1917 to be delivered to Shapleigh Hardware Co., St. Louis, Missouri. The letters also state that the records did not list the barrel lengths by serial numbers and there were no special notes. Although not confirmed by the factory letters, knowledgeable collectors are convinced this revolver originally left the factory on June 18, 1917 with an extra barrel. Note that both barrels are factory numbered to the gun. Moreover, the revolver is absent of factory rework markings, thus indicating that the revolver was not returned to the factory to receive the second barrel. The matching serial number is found on the butt, cylinder, both barrels and right grip panel. The assembly number "6717" is stamped on the yoke and crane. The revolver has standard S&W markings (includes both barrels), and the barrels measure 4 and 6 1/2 inches. Barrel lengths other than 6 1/2 are highly desirable by collectors. Over the years the Triple Lock has gained something of a cult following. Most S&W experts are of the opinion that the Triple Lock mechanism was more an expression of the ultimate in precision machine work than as a necessity for strength and function. S&W's usual two locks provided more locking strength than their main competitor Colt.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original blue finish showing a cylinder drag line. The 6 1/2 inch barrel shows some minor loss at the muzzle. 97% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. Do not miss the opportunity to acquire a .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model Triple Lock revolver with a matching extra barrel that would make a great addition to an early 20th century Smith & Wesson collection!

Engraved Smith & Wesson Straight Line Target Pistol

Lot # 1596 (Sale Order: 596 of 674)

Exceptional Factory Engraved Two Digit Serial Number "54" Smith & Wesson Straight Line Target Single Shot Pistol with Factory Metal Case

Offered here is a scarce factory engraved S&W Straight Line Target Pistol with two digit serial number, 54. These pistols were manufactured from 1925 to 1936 with only 1,870 manufactured. Factory engraved examples are extremely limited. Factory records for this example indicate it was shipped on August 22, 1925 to B. Girardin (no address available) and no other information is provided in the records (no mention of the engraving for reasons unknown). No doubt a factory recording error, as this is certainly factory engraved. The engraving covers 70% of the surface and consists of floral scrollwork on punch dot backgrounds. The pistol has a Patridge blade front and adjustable square notch rear sight, one-line S&W legend on the barrel rib, "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side of the barrel, caliber marking on the right side of the barrel, and S&W medallion grips. Includes a period correct blued steel S&W case containing a two-piece cleaning rod and screwdriver.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks and crisp engraving. The grips are also excellent with a few handling marks. The case is very fine with most of the original blue, some scattered surface oxidation on the exterior and some typical high spot wear on the lining. Mechanically excellent. An extremely scarce example of an early production factory engraved two digit serialized S&W Straight Line Target Pistol that is a must have for the serious S&W or firearms art collector.

Short barrel lengths were popular with law enforcement, as clearly proven on this example as it was ordered by Newberry County, South Carolina Sheriff Tom N. Fellers. The accompanying factory letter shows the revolver was ordered by Sheriff Tom M. Fellers of Newberry County, South Carolina, and shipped on September 29, 1937 to Lominack's Hardware Co., of Newberry South Carolina with a 4 1/4 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear sight, blue finish, grip adapter, and checkered walnut grips. The accompanying Monroe Hardware Co., Inc. purchase order and S&W invoice confirm the 4 1/4 inch barrel and indicate that this revolver is one of two .357 Magnums procured by the Newberry County Sheriff's department on this order. The second revolver (reg. no. 2969) had a 3 1/2 inch barrel and was for a deputy sheriff. Tom Fellers was a World War I veteran and sheriff of Newberry County from 1936-1944 and from 1948-1968. He died in 1980 at the age of 85. The S&W order form for both revolvers are included, and again the 4 1/4 inch barrel is confirmed. The butt has a S&W factory rework star, and the grip frame has the S&W factory September 1945 ("9.45") return date. The grip frame is also stamped "DTC 9.07" and confirms refinish and restoration by the noted S&W restorer David T. Chicoine of Gastonia, North Carolina, in September 2007. The right grip panel is numbered to a different gun. The matching serial number is on the butt, cylinder, and ejector shroud.

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

Very fine, retaining 99% plus of the professionally reapplied blue finish with very limited light handling marks. The grips are also very fine with a tiny surface chip near the top (right panel), some minor handling marks, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Provenance: The Dave Ballantyne Collection
