Felix Mas Red Black Lady Ltd Ed Hand Signed/#

Lot # 7 (Sale Order: 9 of 591)

Felix Mas, Gold Mirror, Screenprint Hand signed and numbered Size : 30 x 35 in. Felix Mas Spanish Artist (1934 - ) Felix Mas was born in Barcelona and trained at the "Artes y Oficios" and later at the "Escuela Superior de San Jorge". Felix Mas artistic education was further developed by extensive traveling in Europe and the United States, before returning to his home town, Barcelona to work as an illustrator and designer. His works were first exhibited in 1966 in a group exhibition at the "Galeria Jaimes" Barcelona. Mas continued exhibiting in Spain until 1974 when following a visit to Venezuela on the occasion of his first one-man show, he decided to settle in Caracas where he lived for six years. During this period he took advantage of his proximity to North America to further his career and ultimately became represented by several galleries throughout the United States and his work was regularly exhibited at highly respected art events and fairs in New York, Los Angels and Chicago. His artistic connection with the Spanish peninsula was renewed when he was invited to exhibit in Barcelona, Valencia and Malaga and later in Lisbon, Portugal. As a result, Mas now divides his time between Europe and the United States. Felix Mas's finely balanced compositions of color lead us through symbolism and fantasy to the realm of beauty in the female figure; a subject matter central to his work. He is a traditional painter who is fascinated and preoccupied with line, form and the achievement of fine color harmonies. His models, clearly his ideal of femininity, are radiant, graceful, exquisitely dressed and invariably place in rich opulent settings surrounded by ornamentation and glossy accessories.

Rina Sutzkever HS/N Limited Edition Embellished

Lot # 9A (Sale Order: 13 of 591)

Artist: Rina Sutzkever Title: Purple Vale Size: 16" x 12" Edition Size: Artist Hand Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Medium: Embellished Lithograph on Wood About the Artist: On one of his visits to Israel, Marc Chagall said to Rina Sutzkever, "... your father painted in words, and you write in colors...”In her recent artworks, Sutzkever combines fantasy, imagination and the luster of reflection. Worldly objects intervene and penetrate one another, simultaneously dispersing and vanishing in the universe like a dream, Sutzkever's dream. Contemplating her paintings for some time, one’s imagination is evoked to experience a surrealistic and unexpected adventure. Sutzkever stands out among contemporary artists as steadfast rock against which changing artistic trends break and disappear. Since she started her artistic career, she has remained faithful to her classical style and to her lyrical compositions. She possesses an innate talent that enables her to express a rich spectrum of feelings. The women in her portraits are beautiful and romantic, and their delicate smile symbolizes an aspiration to the indefinable. Her flowers and trees are painted expressively in the style of Pissaro. Rina Sutzkever was born in Moscow in 1945, in a home filled with the love of art and culture. Her father - the poet Abraham Sutzkever – was always surrounded with friends who were painters or sculptors, and Marc Chagall - a close friend - illustrated several of his works. The Sutzkevers immigrated to Israel in 1948, where some years later Abraham won the ‘Israel Award’ in literature. Sutzkever’s first steps as a professional artist may be traced back to her work with the painter Nahum Gilboa. She continued working with painter Moshe Rozenthalis in his studio, where she developed a realistic style faithful to Nature. Then came her first group exhibition in Yad-Labanim in Tel Aviv. Sutzkever went on to study sketching with Professor Schwartzman and participated in several more solo and group exhibitions, with her 1974 exhibition at ‘Leiweek Art Gallery receiving much attention from fellow artists and the public. There, she showed mostly portraits and still-life's in intense dark colors, reminiscent of seventeenth-century Dutch painting. Sutzkever continued to perfect her style in the Tempera-Oil mixed technique at the ‘Earnest Fox School’ in Vienna. She then had her first international breakthrough with a solo exhibition in New York. Many well-known artists, such as Mordechai Ardon, as well as prominent figures such as Mr. Shimon Peres, Israel's former Prime Minister admire her paintings
