A 1948 Jaguar Mk IV 2.5 litre

Lot # 26 (Sale Order: 26 of 45)

A 1948 Jaguar Mk IV 2.5 litre Chassis: TBC The post 1939-45 war Jaguar Mk IV was in essence the same vehicle as that produced before the war. Having said that it was such a good car and design that it still delivered the goods for the company now devoid of the SS tag and simply known as Jaguar. The Mk IV was produced with three engine variants, the 1.5 litre, 2.5 and 3.5. This marvellous 1948 Jaguar Mk IV 2.5 litre has had just four owners from when delivered new in Australia. Its current owner for the last 12 years is the distinguished actor John Wood. A 45 year veteran of the theatre Wood has appeared in hit TV series, "Power Without Glory", 'Raffertys' Rules" and the much awarded "Blue Heelers" for which he won a coveted Gold Logie in 2006. Finished in Burgundy and Black, this exceptional vehicle has been excellently restored including a new wiring loom. The car like its own is something of a star having appeared on the cover of the RACV calendar and having appeared in the RACV Club foyer and also in the concours of the 2013 Motorclassica. A 1914 Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Landaulet B-series ''Silver Ghost'' (Body by Barker Co.)

Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 27 of 45)

A 1914 Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Landaulet B-series "Silver Ghost" (Body by Barker Co.)Chassis: 54AB Engine: 6 cylinder, 7428 cc 53 BHP @ 1250 rpm Two cars were set aside and one, chassis number 60551, the 13th to be built, was mounted with a Roi-des-Belges body by Barkers, finished in aluminium paint with silver-plated fittings and named The Silver Ghost. It was destined to establish the marque in the front rank of world automobile design and to give its name, unofficially, to the entire series of 40/50 side-valve Rolls-Royces. This vehicle is a 1914 Limousine-Landaulet with body by Barker Co. Its bodywork was commissioned by its first owner, T.A. Williams Esq. of Harewood Grange, near Rose, Herefordshire, to be similar to the Olympia Showcar Rolls-Royce Landaulet built by Hooper. Specifications included the patented window lifters fitted to the Olympia showcar and the extra rear seats which fold away. Ordered on 13th November, 1913 the car was completed on 1st May, 1914. Mr Williams is believed to have owned the vehicle until 1924 and after moving to Cefutilla Court, Newport, Monmouth, had all servicing done by the Morris Motor Repair Works, also of Monmouth. Early repairs consisted mainly of replacing brake shoes for the foot brakes and replacing batteries. Factory records indicate Mr F.H. Morris, understood to be the proprietor of the Morris Motor Repair Works, subsequently became the next owner of the car. Some idea of the thoroughness of the Rolls-Royce records is indicated in the following extract from the car's service record, dated 17th February, 1915. "Our man Hare sent to ..... Monday to inspect car and carry out any necessary adjustments." The service record is only available up to 23rd June, 1936, when it is recorded handbrake liners were despatched to Messrs Brook Bros. No further information is currently available on the car until 1967 when it was entered in the Rolls-Royce and Bentley International Pageant at Goodwood in the United Kingdom. It was entered in the Team 3 - "Later Silver Ghosts" event, as No. 17, entered by P.W. Neale. M.R. Neale also entered in a Barker bodied 1909 Silver Ghost and D.W. Neale competed in the Trophy Event for the best open Silver Ghost (Class 1) in a Hooper bodied 1914 Silver Ghost (chassis 48YB).P.W. Neale also entered the Museum car in Class 2, for Closed and Formal Silver Ghosts. In Section IVA, for Rolls-Royce cars, (Multi-owner) all three Silver Ghosts were entered. The Museum car became well known in the hands of the Neales and is believed to be featured in several books on Rolls-Royce cars. In 1972 the car was purchased from Frank Dale and Stepsons by the well known Perth collector, Percy Markham. It was one of the last cars purchased by Mr Markham. It was given a major cosmetic restoration by Auto Body Specialists in Perth in 1981. Little else was done, as the car was in very fine original condition and features the original upholstery in the rear section. Percy Markham later sold the car to Malcolm Jones of Austmark in Perth. When that company was subsequently taken over by the Bond Corporation, the car was included as a company asset. The car was used very little following its arrival in Australia. It was then advertised for sale by Percy Markham as the Vendor's Representative, in the Australian Rolls-Royce Club Magazine issue no. 83, 6th February, 1983, with the comment that it was "considered to be possibly the most original Veteran Silver Ghost in Australia". Late in 1983 the car was purchased for display at the York Motor Museum. It is used and displayed regularly at various events around Perth and competed successfully in the 1984 Veteran Car Club Perth to York Rally. In September 1985 it was entered in the Rolls-Royce Owners Club 27th Federal Rally Concours event held at Guildford Grammar School, where it won first place in the Silver Ghost category. At the Rolls-Royce Owners Club (WA Branch) Concours D'Elegance held at Fremantle on Sunday 6 April 1986, the Rolls-Royce was a clear winner in the age and authenticity division. The Rolls-Royce competed again in the Concours event of the 33rd Rolls-Royce Federal Rally held on 14 September 1991 at Aquinas College in Perth. On this occasion the Silver Ghost won the "Silver Ghost" category, and again the prestigious "Age and Authenticity" category, after being driven to the event. At the 57th Annual Federal Rally of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club of Australia in Fremantle, the car won the E (Jack) Vidler Shield for Age and Authenticity and it won Class 1 for Pre-Ghosts and Silver Ghosts. At the Rolls-Royce Owners Club (WA Branch) Concours D'Elegance held at Houghton's Winery in 2015 it won its class again. Estimate $ 750,000-950,000 ...more

A 1911 Fiat Landaulet

Lot # 28 (Sale Order: 28 of 45)

A 1911 Fiat Landaulet Chassis: A1463 The Edwardian 'brass' car is a vehicle of beauty at the cusp of the period moving away from the 'horseless carriage' antecedent to the more modern recognisably 'car-shaped' vehicles that followed. It was in this period from 1905 to 1916 that thought and design were applied as much to the chassis as well as the engine. Cars were still big however though this is as much to do with pre-war social history as anything else. The strictures of war changed that as did the popularisation of motoring in a changed world post 1918. One of the great manufacturers of the Edwardian period was Fiat. This marvellous example of the 1911 Fiat Landaulet was originally believed to be owned by a wealthy Melbournian lady who would have been driven by her chauffeur. It has, as was common for the period, a very elaborate interior for the passenger compartment with a more austere area for the driver. The Fiat was rescued by its second owner from a farm in central Victoria. He started a restoration on the mechanicals and chassis only before on selling it. The third owner over many years had the body re-done before passing away before the restoration was completed. It spent many years in storage in NSW before being put on the market and being acquired by the current owner in the early 1990s. Over the following years and working to the original Italian specifications and with much meticulous research the vehicle restoration was finished to a very high standard of authenticity and quality. The car starts and runs beautifully, the Tipo 2, 20 HP engine coupled to a 4 speed gearbox having been fully re-metalled and machined by engine specialists in Taree, NSW. Presented in exceptional condition and with a high degree of originality the only concession away from the original being the fitting of a starter motor for ease of use. Estimate $ 80,000-100,000...more

A 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ1 Recreation by Greppi

Lot # 29 (Sale Order: 29 of 45)

A 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ1 Recreation by Greppi Serial number 750003 Chassis number 10511AR750003 Heir to the Alfa Romeo Giulia was the Giulietta, a three box saloon with crumple zone body and a five speed gearbox introduced in 1962. The most famous sports version of this car was of course the TZ or Tubulare Zagato. Developed over a four-year period largely by ex-Ferrari engineer Carlo Chiti's Autodelta racing outfit (which was soon incorporated into Alfa Romeo as its official competition division), the TZ was truly ahead of its time. Not only did it employ cutting-edge tubular chassis construction and wear beautiful hand-beaten aluminium bodywork penned by Zagato's Ercole Spada; it also boasted double-wishbone suspension (independently sprung at the rear), all-round disc brakes, and groundbreaking aerodynamics. Of the latter, the low frontal area and kamm-tailed rear are the most apparent, also lending the TZ its unmistakable silhouette. Powered by just a 1600cc four cylinder engine, due to its very light weight and adroit handling the TZ however was very fast and successful on the track achieving greatness at Le Mans, the Targa Florio, Monza, the Nürburgring and Sebring. Specifications Engine Capacity: 1570 cc Transmission: 5 speed manual Suspension Front: Fully independent Suspension Rear: Fully independent. Chassis: Metal tube Body: Aluminium Weight: 658 kg Power: 170hp (in twin plug format) Max speed: 216 kmh to 240kmh (depending on gearing) This TZ-1 is a very exact replica and uses all of the correct suspension, brakes, chassis, drive train and aluminum bodywork and the highest rated twin plug 1600cc engine. It was built by master craftsman Giorgio Greppi at his Carrozeria in the small town of Colico on the north eastern shores of Lago Como in Northern Italy. Greppi himself has signed a testimony confirming that this car was built by him at the beginning of the 1990s as a recreation of an original car. It is as close to one of the original 112 cars built by Alfa Romeo in the 1960s as it is possible to be without actually being a Factory car. A sprightly septuagenarian, Greppi has been hand crafting remarkable cars since the 1950s and continues to do so today. As well as having a fantastic reputation for recreating cars such as the TZ1 and the Disco Volante he also produces wonderful one-offs including the F.LLI.Frigerio 'Berlinetta SS' which appeared at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in 2104. This TZ1 was originally sold by Greppi to a Bologna based business man and then it is believed the vehicle spent time in Germany. The car was purchased by the current owner via a broker from the USA in 2009. The owner at that time had just purchased a real TZ-1 and this car was now superfluous to his needs. The chassis number was discovered under layers of paint on the firewall in 2010 and is well documented in the following Alfa website:http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/limited-production-1960-1977/168418-tz1-replica-searching-history.html It is important to note that this car does not come with continuous documentation and is not portrayed as an Autodelta built TZ-1.Believed to be the only TZ-1 in the southern hemisphere the car had a rebuilt engine (with high com pistons) and gearbox (close ratio gear set) in 2013. The original side exhaust was removed and replaced with a bespoke handmade rear exhaust to make for more comfortable road use. This TZ-1 has been invited over a number of years to participate in the Albert Park Grand Prix Historic racing events. In 2012 it won the People's Choice award at the Sandown Historics and has also competed in regularity events at the Phillip Island Historics in 2011 and 2012. In 2014 the TZ-1 featured on the rear page of the Phillip Island Historics program and has won numerous Alfa club awards. The car is well sorted being part-owned by club life member, regarded Alfa Romeo mechanic and noted racing driver, Hugh Harrison. The TZ-1 was a race car that in-period was often crashed, bashed and rebuilt. The number of TZ-1s that have all their original bodywork and mechanical components is now very small. A quick perusal of the TZ-1 chassis histories (refer to www.zagato-cars.com) suggests that at least 80% of the TZ-1s have suffered serious crash damage, been destroyed, reborn, re-bodied, lost engines, etc. in their lives. This faithful TZ-1 recreation offers the same looks, ambience, performance and experience of an original TZ-1. Estimate $ 400,000-440,000...more

A 1977 Moto Morini 350 Sport double drum, wire wheel

Lot # 31 (Sale Order: 31 of 45)

A 1977 Moto Morini 350 Sport Valentini Special Founded in Bologna by Alfonso Morini in 1937 (though with its antecedents traceable back to 1914), Moto Morini is an Italian manufacturer of high quality motorcycles with an enviable international reputation, which despite recent difficulties still exits today. Moto Morini has an excellent competition history with many Italian Champions riding Morini bikes including Tarquinio Provini and the great Giacomo Agostini. Agostini, Champion of Champions started his incredible career riding a Moto Morini Settebello and then his first full blown GP bike with the company's 250 dohc single. Alfonso Morini passed away in 1969 and his position at the head of the company was taken by his daughter Gabriella. With racing taking a back seat Moto Morini's claim to fame in the 1970s was the arrival of the famous 350 V-twin in touring and sporting set ups. This special model was produced by Moto Morini dealer Antonio Valentini in Prato, Italy. Valentini Morinis were tuned and a special fairing was added. According to the previous U.S owner this exciting bike was an ex-racing machine from the Eastern Seaboard and purchased from the original importer, the Herdan Group in the U.s. It is apparent upon looking at the bike that it has all the hallmarks of a raced bike with all bolts and flanges wired for security and slightly more robust. The tune of the bike is also slightly different from a standard 350 Sport with special race factory cam shaft, larger jettings and of course the very rare Valentini fairing. It appears that the current fairing went on after the race bike prepared by Valentini went to the States. It has covered only 13,000 miles since new some 38 years ago of which the current owner has accounted for just 1,500. Power output approximately 47hp at 8800rpm with a reported top speed of 195km/h. A 1955 Triumph Speed Twin

Lot # 32 (Sale Order: 32 of 45)

A 1955 Triumph Speed Twin Formed as a bicycle company in 1885, Triumph became a proper motorcycle company in 1936 with the launch of the Speed Twin which lays claim to being the world's first fast and reliable mass produced motorbike. Linked with superstars such as Marlon Brando, Steve McQueen, James Dean Bob Dylan, and even "the Fonz", a Triumph motorbike is the epitome of cool. 1955 saw big changes to the 500cc Speed Twin for the first time in a decade. Whilst still retaining the small 7' front brake, swing-arm suspension was adopted, whilst rare suspension was by a pair of Girling shock absorbers. The Speed Twin was also the first Triumph model to utilise the new Amal Monobloc carburettor. A new style Lucas distributor with reduced ignition advance was also fitted whilst an improved seat was also in evidence. This stunning example in Amaranth Red is very original and in exceptional running order and condition. This superb example on offer is extensively featured in the definitive Triumph book by Ian Falloon entitled 'The Complete Book of Classic and Modern Triumph Motorcycles 1937 - Today', first published in 2015. A 1974 Marlboro Holden Dealer Team Holden Torana SLR 5000

Lot # 33 (Sale Order: 33 of 45)

A 1974 Marlboro Holden Dealer Team Holden Torana SLR 5000 Chassis: ALH000378M This important Australian racing car was driven by both Colin Bond and the legendary Peter Brock. Restored to original specifications and in exceptional condition, this piece of Australian automotive history has tremendous provenance. TESTIMONY OF THIS VEHICLE BY JOE FELICE, MANAGER HOLDEN MOTOR SPORT (1970-1980) "The Marlboro Holden Dealer Team Torana SLR 5000 was for the Holden Brand a transitional race car designed to take Teams campaigning Holden Torana from racing 6 cylinder XU1's, albeit with great success, to racing V8 equipped cars. Competing against the much more powerful Ford V8 GTHO's at the time, Holden felt that the XU1 had reached the end of its development and started planning to bring in the V8 Torana L34, which was a car designed with Touring Car Racing in mind. Whilst the L34 option was being developed it was decided to race the Torana SLR 5000 for an interim period. A Torana SLR 5000 was prepared by M-HDT and raced for a time by both Peter Brock & Colin Bond in National Touring Car Events with success, posting some wins and pole positions in its short racing career. It was the first Torana V8 raced by the Holden Dealer Team. Upon the introduction of the Torana L34 the SLR5000 became superfluous to the Marlboro Holden Dealer Team's requirements and bowing to pressure from the Western Australian Holden Dealer Group and the Marlboro Company, who complained about lack of representation & exposure in Western Australia, I instructed HDT to transfer the SLR 5000 together with spares to Wayne Negus in Perth to campaign the car in a Production Touring Car series being run in Perth WA. Wayne Negus was a M-HDT driver & mechanic in Melbourne for some years but had returned to live in his home town of Perth. Wayne Negus campaigned the car with a lot of success in WA for some time, before the vehicle was retired. The Torana SLR 5000 played a major part in enhancing Holden Torana's unparalleled racing reputation and was another successful and important car in the history of The Marlboro Holden Dealer Team," testimony of Joe Felice, Manager- Holden Motor Sport (1970-1980) of this vehicle. A 1912 Metz 22 in barn find condition

Lot # 34 (Sale Order: 34 of 45)

A 1912 Metz 22 in barn find condition Chassis: TBC Charles Herman Metz at the behest of the bank took over the ailing Waltham Manufacturing Company of Waltham, Massachusetts. A man of vision and ideas, including the Metz-Air-Car of which only one was built, the Company did not however meet with huge success. Cars were produced in fairly limited numbers particularly in the Great War years and ceased trading in 1922. In 1911 Metz introduced the Model 22 which had a 4 cylinder engine and used a friction drive concept. Only one body style was available and the colour was dark blue with cream wheels. This was a two person roadster without doors. An available option to increase seating capacity was either a single seat or a double seat that could be mounted on the tool box at the rear of the car. This particular example of a Metz 22 from 1912 has lain dormant for many years and is now in need of restoration. It is a complete car however and looks to be in quite good condition despite its lack of use. Not much of its history is known but it still features many of its original details and will make a great restoration project for anyone interested in Edwardian 'brass' period automobiles. A 1949 Jaguar XK120 Alloy-bodied Open Two Seater

Lot # 35 (Sale Order: 35 of 45)

A 1949 Jaguar XK120 Alloy-bodied Open Two Seater Chassis 660005 Engine W1034-7 Body F1015 Gearbox JH651 During the war, William Lyons would get together with his colleagues to discuss and design a new engine that would go into production once hostilities ceased. This would become the world famous XK engine that would stay in production for over 40 years and be the backbone of Jaguar's success at Le Mans. By 1948 the exciting new engine was virtually ready for production. The designers chose an overhead camshaft layout and after trying several configurations, the final engine was decided upon. It was to be a straight six of 3442 cc and given the name XK. The achieved output was 160 bhp! Jaguar now had an excellent new chassis, a tremendously exciting new engine, but no sports car. So the decision was made to produce a small number of sports cars, which would generate publicity and perhaps gain a few competition successes. The task fell then to William Lyons to design a suitable body in just a couple of months for the 1948 London Motor Show, the 33rd International Motor Exhibition held at Earls Court from October 27th to November 6th. The result on Stand 126 'stole the show'. It is listed in the catalogue as the 'Jaguar 6-Cylinder "120" Super Sports' and was known as the XK120. It was refined in the usual Jaguar manner, had unrivalled comfort for such a car, and to top it all, was keenly priced at just £998 (£1,298 with tax). The name was based on the top speed which made it the fastest production car in the world. Indeed at first people were sceptical and refused to believe what was being claimed for the XK120. To convince the sceptics however, some tangible proof of the claimed prowess was needed. Accordingly Jaguar took over a closed section of dual carriageway at Jabbeke near Ostend in Belgium where, in front of the assembled press, a standard XK120 driven by Ron 'Soapy' Sutton proceeded to clock 126 mph. With the windscreen removed 132.6 mph was achieved. The orders came flooding in and Jaguar quickly realised that the couple of hundred originally intended could not possibly meet demand. The first early cars were hand-built of aluminium over an ash frame, but for full production the car had a pressed-steel body with aluminium bonnet and doors. This remarkable example is a long-lost, alloy- bodied Jaguar XK120 OTS. Chassis number 660005 was taken off the road in 1969 by its then new owner. Upon his death some 46 years later the car has now been rediscovered in Far North Queensland in incredibly original condition. This rare and desirable car with outstanding provenance, which has been 'lost' since the year man first stepped on the Moon is just the fifth right hand drive Jaguar XK120 built and believed to be the third oldest surviving. It still maintains its original chassis, body (number F1015 indicating that this vehicle was just the fifteenth of both left and right hand drive cars made), engine, gearbox, steering wheel, steel wheels, spats and hood and is an outstanding, very rare early example of Sir William Lyons revolutionary vehicle. This car has been verified by marque experts who have been astounded by its incredible originality and state of preservation and wonderful condition. Records show it was first despatched to Dominion Motors of Adelaide, South Australia on the 22nd November 1949 and sold to its first owner R.C.Willing in February 1950. It has a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Estimate $ 400,000-450,000...more

A 1973 Ferrari Dino 246GT

Lot # 37 (Sale Order: 37 of 45)

A 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Chassis: 03552 The iconic flow line design of Pininfarina's Dino 246 GT has seen this vehicle take on cult status. Dedicated to the deceased son of Enzo Ferrari the innovative and elegant lines of this Ferrari create a sensual feel of sportiness and desirability. Total Ferrari production of the 246 GT which started in 1970, was quite large due to its relatively low price point. In all the factory built 2,487 cars but of this total however only 488 were made in right hand drive. This beautiful 1973 Dino 246 GT is one of those rare right hand drive models; chassis number 03552; engine number 1580; gearbox number 734; body number 728. This car has recently received an excellent new and very professional paint job and looks absolutely resplendent, whilst the original nero hide interior still remains in fine condition, though with the addition of headrests to the seats and a correct leather steering wheel as opposed to the original wood rim wheel. 03552 has also had a major mechanical overhaul and starts and runs absolutely as it should. The underside of the car is in excellent condition also. This Dino is in very crisp order accompanied by a set of books and a complete and correct tool kit. This absolutely superb right hand drive example of a legendary automotive icon is ready for its next owner to enjoy having undergone an extensive and detailed restoration. A 1953 Jaguar XK 120 3.4 litre OTS

Lot # 39 (Sale Order: 39 of 45)

A 1953 Jaguar XK 120 3.4 litre OTS Chassis number 661123 Engine number W9948-8 The Jaguar XK 120 was perhaps the underpinning for the success of Jaguar. It was very popular and highly successful as an export model particularly to the USA and helped to create much needed revenue for Jaguar and Great Britain post Second World War. Because the car was so popular in the US left hand drive examples are quite common. Correspondingly few original right drive vehicles are to be found. Of the 1,118 right hand drive steel bodied roadsters built between 1949 and 1954 this superb example was the 54th last built with a date of manufacture of 5th October 1953. It was despatched to the dealer Henlys of London on the 13th November 1953 with an original purchase price at the time of 1,275 pounds sterling including tax. Little of this vehicle's early history is known except that it shipped to the USA. It was last registered in Alabama and spent eight years in storage in Loiuisiana before being imported to Australia in 1989. 661123 then spent a further seven years in storage in rural NSW before emerging in 1996 to commence a 13 year restoration which was finally completed in August 2008. It quickly became known in Australia as "the Crocodile Car" for the patina of the dull exterior paintwork that after many years' exposure to the sun had become deeply cracked and crazed like crocodile skin. Despite the sorry state of repair the car was one of the most original, complete and un-restored examples available which provided its current owner with the dual opportunity of a valuable reference vehicle for authenticity and a restoration project where authenticity was readily verifiable. Testimony to the quality, thoroughness and authenticity of the restoration is confirmed by the incredible array of awards immediately garnered including 2008 Gold Award, Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia 2008 XK Trophy, Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia 2008 Outright Winner, Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia 2009 Gold Award, Jaguar National Rally 2009 Lofty England Sporting Trophy, Jaguar National Rally 2009 Sir Nick Scheele Trophy, Jaguar National Rally 2009 Sir William Lyons Trophy, Jaguar National Rally 2009 Outright Winner, Jaguar National Rally 2009 1st Place 1951-1960 Cars, Shannons Eastern Creek Class 2009 Grand Champion, Shannons Eastern Creek Classic It winning history culminated by the fact that Australian Classic Car Magazine confirmed it as the best car in Australia in its 2010 Awards. To this day this stunning matching numbers (as confirmed by the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate) original right hand drive XK120 is still in concours winning condition having been meticulously maintained by its fastidious owner, and must be regarded as one of the finest examples available anywhere. A 1927 Marmon E75

Lot # 40 (Sale Order: 40 of 45)

A 1927 Marmon E75 Chassis: Fedco ID 10RL21 Engine: 548E Marmon is a rare American manufacturer and its automobiles were only produced between 1902 and 1933, its closure brought about by the economic strain of the Great Depression. Despite being little remembered and of limited production numbers, the cars themselves were of considerable quality. Marmons were built in Indianapolis, where in 1911 the Marmon Wasp, driven by company engineer Ray Harroun won the inaugural Indy 500.According to the 2015Marmon Directory (from The Marmon Club in USA) there are now 460 surviving Marmon cars, world wide in varying stages of repair. Approximately only 155 of these cars are drivable or totally restored. The D.M.Sechler Carriage Company was founded in 1888 in Moline, Illinois and in August1925, the firm was reorgansied, emerging as the E.H. Wilson Manufacturing Co. The Wilson company manufactured production bodies for Marmon and for General Motors' recently organised Yellow Truck and Coach Mfg. Co. In late 1925 Wilson received a record order from Yellow Cab for 1,000 taxi-cab bodies, but the coach builder is best-remembered for the small series of bodies itmanufactured for the 1927 Marmon E-75 Speedster. This stunning example of the Marmon E75 is the only seven seater Marmon with a coach built body by E.H.Wilson, No 4-068. According to the Marmon Club of USA this is the only 7-passenger custom built speedster (tourer) in the world, built by this body builder, making it a unique car. The E.H. Wilson Manufacturing Company went out of business in 1932 at about the same time as did the Marmon Motor Car Co. This car's mechanical history started in 1916 with the production of the 6 cylinder Marmon Mod 34A. Progressive mechanical improvements were made to the 34A over the years, culminating in the E75 the fifth & final version of the 34, and the last of the 6 cylinder cars Marmon produced. All together 42,800, 6 cylinder cars were produced in 12 years, at an average of 3567 cars per year. The 1927 E75 accounted for 3000 cars, of which there are about 20 surviving according to the Marmon Club Register (USA). Marmon USA manufactured right hand drive cars completely bodied for the export market including Australia. Maintained in superb order by a Marmon collector and expert this is perhaps the finest Marmon, renowned for quality and innovative engineering, available. It was purchased by its current owner in 1994 from Mr. Ken Greenwood in Aubrey. The AOMC records reveal that Dr A.B. Webb of Linton, Vic owned the car in 1927 when the registration number was 716. No records exist from 1927-1930, but in 1935 the registration was 230-659 & then in 1950 it was PL119. Car 716 was owned by Mrs Elizabeth Cohen of Bentleigh.(presumably purchased from Dr Webb) It appears that Elizabeth transferred the ownership of the car to Gwen Cohen with rego 230 659. & then in 1950 Mr. George Duke of Sorrento owned the car (PL 119) until 1966. The car was displayed at Motorclassica in 2012 & Mr. Dukes' son recognised the car & confirmed ownership of it because he remembered the engine number 548E. He was able to provide past registration papers/details as given above. Estimate $ 85,000-90,000...more

A 1968 Bentley T1 Drophead Coupe by H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward

Lot # 42 (Sale Order: 42 of 45)

A 1968 Bentley T1 Drophead Coupé by H.J.Mulliner, Park Ward Chassis: CBH4006 The Bentley T convertible was hand-built in very limited numbers between 1967 and 1971. In total, for both left (14) and right hand drive models (27) there were just 41 cars made making it a very rare motor car. This 1968 T Drophead Coupé in Ming Blue with coachwork by Mulliner Park Ward is a very rare right hand drive example and is believed to be the most highly specified "special orders features" of this model of all. For improved comfort the "Special wide front seats are required as close to the centre as possible, and they are to be completed with folding armrests to the inside of the squabs, the cushions to be plain trim." For improved legroom, the "front seat runners set back 2" from standard." "The rear seat cushion is required to be extended by 1" and lowered at the rear by 1" - it is to be plain trim and the squab is to be as soft as possible." The plain seat bottom cushions are a rarity. This particular style of plain seat cushion, with fluted squabs was originally designed by H.J. Milliner and known as the "Renillum" design (Mulliner spelt backwards). Renillum seating first appeared in pre-war Milliner bodied Wraith and Phantom III models. "The armrests are to be thinned per Mr Hodge's instructions to the Coachbuilders." "Smooth rubber mats to front & rear compartment." Leather bound and tailor made to sit atop the Wilton wool carpets. "Full refridgeration; Fog lamps; Sundym glass throughout; Wing mirrors; Irvin lap safety belts; Badge bar for 3 badges; G.B plate; Flasher repeater lamps." It also features the desirable burr walnut "Chippendale style dashboard". Originally ordered by Mr Niall D. Hodge a Scottish businessman this vehicle is one of the first convertibles to leave the factory with the smoother 3 speed GM 400 gearbox which became standard. The second owner was Lord Owen Lloyd George the grandson of the British Prime Minister David Lloyd George. In absolutely beautiful condition, highly original (including the stunning leather Connolly Champagne interior) and with excellent provenance. A 2005 Ford GT in right hand drive

Lot # 43 (Sale Order: 43 of 45)

A 2005 Ford GT in right hand drive Chassis: 1FAFP90S15Y401051 The original Ford GT40 is the legendary race car which took on Ferrari (apocryphally because Enzo Ferrari retreated from a deal to sell his company to the American giant in 1963) beating them at their own game by winning at Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in 1966 and also for the following three years thereafter at the French long-distance event. In 2004, forty years after the first Ford GT40 was produced in the care of Eric Broadley (Lola), Carroll Shelby and John Wyler (Aston Martin), Ford paid its own homage. Ford Chief Creative Designer J Mays (who only retired from Ford in late 2013) was influential in the design and creation of the new vehicle in the company's 'Retrofuturism' programme. The Ford GT is a thoroughly modern reworking of its forebear still maintaining the spirit and integrity of the great endurance race car of the late 1960s. It sits on the road some three inches taller than the original Ford GT. Highly revered by public and critics alike the Ford GT boast incredible performance and is a joy to drive. Top speed is limited to 205 mph with 0-60 mph achieved in less than 3.5 seconds! No wonder Jeremy Clarkson owned one. This absolutely superb example of the Ford GT was built in 2005 and is one of a very few cars, from a grand total of just 4,038 production units, converted to right hand drive. It is car number ten and the last Ford GT to be converted by Crossover Car Conversions/Mustang Motorsport in late 2011 after being imported into Australia by its current, second owner. A simply stunning unmarked motorcar, its only modifications are a Ford racing power upgrade to 575 hp, a Sweetass Bumper Off rear bumper removal kit and reversing sensors.
