RARE 1943 WWII US Property Stamped Colt Woodsman Bullseye Match Target .22 LR Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 26 (Sale Order: 26 of 349)      

Manufactured in 1943 for the war relief. Features a 6-5/8" blued heavy barrel, with "Kelly type" front sight and rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation. Matte finish top of the barrel, frame and slide. Left side panel of the barrel is stamped "MATCH TARGET" with the iconic bullseye. The top of the barrel is stamped with the Colt Hartford address and patent number in two un-equal lines. Colt commercial blued frame with "THE WOODSMAN/U.S. PROPERTY" markings on the left side and "G.H.D." on the right side. Ordnance final inspection marks stamped on the right side. Manufactured between July 1943 and December 1943. This pistol is one of an estimated 3,962 Colt Woodsman Match Target pistols purchased by the U.S. Military during WWII. The majority of these pistols were acquired by the U.S. Navy. The serial number "MT14686" is located on the front of the grip strap. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the legend "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL..22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with an "e" assembler's mark above the Colt "VP/triangle" proof mark. The pistol is fitted with brown plastic checkered grips with molded Colt medallions. Fitted with a fully blued 10 round magazine marked "COLT WOODSMAN/CAL. 22. L.R." on the base. CONDITION: The barrel retains 85% original blue with most wear at the muzzle and along high edges. The frame and slide retains 80% original blue with most wear on the grip strap and along the high edges. Engraved Custom 1915 Colt Government WWI Era RAF Contract 1911 w/ ACE .22 LR Conversion Kit

Manufactured in 1915 for the Royal Air Force, under Colt contract. The "W" prefix in front of the serial number designates this was originally calibered in the 455 Webley for the British. Birmingham proof marks on the right side of the frame under the serial number and one on the left side of the frame in front of the slide stop. Many of these Webley calibered 1911's were exported back to the US after WWI. Since then, this full size 1911 has been upgraded with an ACE .22LR conversion kit, professionally re-blued and exhibits approximately 75% engraved coverage. Floral scroll engraving adorns each area of the frame, slide and base of the magazine. Half moon blade front sight and rear windage adjustable notch sight. Left side of the slide is stamped "COLT'S P.T.F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB 14, 1911. AUG. 19, 1913" with the rampant Colt at the rear of the slide. Right side slide is stamped "COLT ACE (in diamond) .22 LONG RIFLE". Right side frame is stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL W 58128". Grip panels are hand-carved bone depicting a dragon and flower surrounding the screws. Period correct lanyard loop. Right side panel is inscribed on the back "F TIGERS/OD '37". Signed "BAB" under the left side grip panel at the base. Includes the Colt factory early ACE magazine, stamped "COLT ACE 22LR" on the base with matching scroll engraving. This pistol can definitely be described as a unicorn of many colors. CONDITION: Finish retains 98%+ reapplied blue. Frame does show some very small areas of pitting under the reapplied finish. Grips show light discoloration, a few stress lines underneath and some light wear in the once sharp areas of the bone carving. Bore and mechanics are excellent. CALIBER: .22 LR. S/N: W58128. Manufactured in 1987. 19-3/8" round blued barrel with front beaded blade sight and rear flip-up notch sight. Standard factory barrel stampings. Factory drilled and tapped holes near receiver with filler screws. Blued receiver with grade VI factory engraving. Left side features a gold rabbit chased by a gold hunting dog in a woodland scene surround by a floral pattern. Top of the receiver features a gold bust of a Labrador dog, surrounded by floral scroll engravings extending 2.5" up from the tang. Right side features a gold wolf and gold squirrel in a mountain scene surrounded by floral engraving. Gold plated trigger, blued trigger guard with gold Browning Buck Mark in gold engraved on the bottom. Bottom port ejection. Grade I American walnut high gloss stock and forend. Checkering on the pistol grip and forend at 20 LPI with double lined border. Tubular stock fed magazine holds up to 10 rounds. Serrated hard plastic butt plate. CONDITION: Barrel and receiver retain 99% original blued finish. Stock and forend retain 99% finish with only slight handling marks and a few very faint dings in the stock. Black Apache Nylon stock with white diamond insert on both sides of the forend. Stock also features a Schnabel forend tip with white line, checkered forearm and pistol grip. White-lined pistol grip cap is stamped "REMINGTON NYLON 66". White lined buttplate with stock-fed magazine. Comes equipped with a Tasco 4x32 scope on WideView two-piece scope mounts. Manufactured in West Germany for Weatherby in 1970. Features a 29" blued extreme and unusual factory bull barrel with 1.25" diameter at the muzzle. Left side of barrel at the breech is marked "WEATHERBY 378 MAGNUM". No sight provisions or other markings. Action is a standard Mark V with standard markings on both sides. 9 lug jeweled bolt and follower. Two position safety, and knurled bolt knob. Blued detactable floorplate engraved "WEATHERBY CUSTOM" with floral scroll. Blued trigger and trigger guard. Buehler scope bases and rings, equipped with a Weatherby Premier 3-9x40 scope. One piece marksman confirguration walnut stock with rosewood tip and grip cap. Grip cap has diamond birch inlay. Monte Carlo comb, pistol grip and forend has skip-line hand checkering. Right hand shooter cheek piece and Weatherby brown ventilated recoil pad. Previously owned by J.R. LaRue. Includes foam lined hard case. CONDITION: Barrel retains 98% blue. Bore is excellent, and good mechanics. Action retains 98% blue with hues of plum. Bolt has very faint slide marks. Stock retains 98% original condition. Made for Weatherby in West Germany in 1973. Features a 24.5" round blued sightless factory tapered barrel. Weatherby Mark V action with jeweled bolt and follower. Two position safety. Blued trigger guard and metal floorplate with scroll engraving centered around a gold embossed Red Stag medallion. Equipped with a Weatherby Variable 2X-7X scope, factory mounted on Buehler mounts. Factory walnut one piece stock that features rosewood forend tip. Both sides of the action are inlaid with tri-wood of maple, walnut and ebony in a diamond configuration. Pistol grip cap has diamond birch inlay. Bottom of forend has a diamond inlay with ebony and birch, including a gold center diamond engraved with the initials "HWG." Right side of the butt stock has a large spear point inlay approximately 5.75" x 2" that features black ebony with a white gazelle and scroll design. Forend grip, pistol grip, and buttstock flat feature Weatherby's oak leaf and acorns in deep relief. Stock features a right hand shooter cheek piece. Factory Weatherby recoil pad. CONDITION: Barrel retains 98% blue with faint handling marks. Receiver retains 98% blue that, in typical Weatherby fashion, has turned a plum tone. Scope and mounts are 98% blue. Features a 24" blued round sightless barrel and marked "USE ONLY/WEATHERBY/300 WM." on the left of the chamber. The receiver has all of the standard Mark V markings with "40th YEAR COMMEMORATIVE" on the floorplate with intertwining lines. Factory drilled and tapped with gold plated plug screws, on one screw the gold is flaked off. Gold plated trigger and gold plated bolt follower. Machine jeweled bolt. Knurled knob still encased with factory wax. Mounted in a tiger striped walnut stock with laser carved floral decorations, rosewood nose cap and pistol grip cap with maple diamond insert. Brass plate on the right side of the butt reading "Weatherby/40TH/ANNIVERSARY/1945-1985/1 OF 200". Gold sling swivel studs and brown ventilated Weatherby recoil pad. Factory walnut forearm and buttstock. Toe of buttstock has a small chip, approximately 3/4" long by 1/4" deep. Non-factory sling swivels. Metal carbine butt plate. CONDITION: Overall, 40% original blue finish with the remainder a gray patina. Receiver has approximately 10% original blue with the remainder a gray patina. No pits or scratches. Butt plate has gray patina. Barrel is missing rear sight and has been drilled and tapped. Factory wood has been refinished with a heavy varnish. Manufactured in 1904. Features a 26" full octagon blued barrel with full-length magazine tube, stamped with the Winchester two line address. Beech's flip-up front sight, and rear 22G buckhorn sight. Standard Winchester barrel markings with "38-55" stamped on top of the barrel in front of the receiver, and Winchester proof mark in the correction position. The receiver is a standard blued solid frame 1894 action. The top tang above the lever is drilled and tapped for a tang-mounted sight, not included. Both forend and buttstock are standard walnut wood. Buttstock has the period correct rifle crescent steel butt plate. CONDITION: Overall the barrel and receiver retain 50% original blue with the remainder turning a pleasing plum patina. Forend and buttstock retain 50% finish with added coat of Linseed oil. Left side of the slide is stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL 22 LONG RIFLE" with the rampant Colt on the rear of the slide behind the serrations. Kelly type front blade sight and rear fixed notch sight. Checkered pattern mainspring housing indicating this gun is designed to fire standard velocity ammunition. Trigger is centered in the trigger guard with the "y" proof mark on the left side rear of the trigger guard. Checkered walnut grip panels with diamond shape around screws. Original factory Colt magazine with brass follower, stamped on the base "CAL 22 COLT". CONDITION: Bluing has turned to a brown patina and does appear to have had a clear finish applied. Does show a few spots of oxidation on the barrel. Grips do show some staining and wear in the checkering . Bore is decent and all mechanics function smoothly. CALIBER: .22 LR. S/N: 3922. Manufactured in 1916. Features a 6-5/8" pencil barrel, stamped on top "COLT'S PF TA MFG CO HARTFOTD CY USA/PATENTED DEC 22, 1903". Left side of the slide is stamped "COLT...more AUTOMATIC/CAL 22 LONG RIFLE" with the rampant Colt on the rear of the slide behind the serrations. Kelly type front blade sight and rear fixed notch sight. Checkered pattern mainspring housing indicating this gun is designed to fire standard velocity ammunition. Trigger is centered in the trigger guard with the "y" proof mark on the left side rear of the trigger guard. Checkered walnut grip panels with diamond shape around screws.
