Includes the original factory cardboard box with documents. Rifle retains nearly all of its original finish showing minor handling marks with no major wear observed. Geometric inlay design done by famous Hopi silversmith Lawerence Saufkie maker marked with his bear mark. From the Spike Flanders Collection Silver City, New Mexico. Bio- Lawrence Saufkie was born in 1935 and passed in 2011. He was taught by his father Paul and by Fred Kaboti who originated the Hopi style of silversmithing in the 1930s. A member of the bear clan, he was a pioneering silversmith for over 60 years. He won the SWAIA lifetime achievement award and was named an Arizona living treasure in his later years. He is collected by many well known museums and received an award from the American Museum of Natural History

For a time the Colt Custom Shop offered special order revolvers to Single Action Shooter Society members with their SASS number incorporated in the serial number with SASS prefixes and suffixes. This pair was commissioned by James Lockwood SASS #710. Configuration: Blued & case hardened finish, 4 ¾” barrel, blade front sight, square notched rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder with pressed cylinder bushing, ejector rod, thin smooth trigger, hammer with polished flats & knurled spur, and custom two-piece fiddleback wood grips inlayed with 1 1/8” carved faux-ivory medallions on one side. These inserts are inscribed “THE TERRITORY OF ARIZONA 1863/DITAT DEUS” with a wooded scene featuring antlered game. Includes the original factory blue cardboard boxes with while sleeves and matching green Custom Shop labels. 00710SASS retains approximately 95% of its original finish showing holster wear, scattered handling marks, some turn marks on the cylinder and a minute amount of oxidation/light surface rust.
