First 2 p...moreanels are divided vertically from last 2 panels with fold mark. 3rd panel "9-16" in hand of artist, 4th panel signed "Schulz" in artist hand above a rectangular area of white which was applied to the page. Housed in a gesso molded silvered wood frame of the period. The consignor had been gifted this Peanuts strip by her aunt Thelma Petz. According to family history, Thelma was in the hospital for a while after a knee surgery; a relative of Charles Schulz that was his niece or one of Schulz's children was her nurse who apparently liked Thelma and told Schulz about her. Schulz autographed the strip at the top of one of the panels and wished Thelma a speedy recovery. Over the years the inked autograph faded almost completely away, you can now just barely see some of the letters. SIZE: 7" x 29". Overall 9 1/4" x 31". CONDITION: very good, original condition apart from the text script attached to 1st panel and white at upper right of 4th panel. (02-18003/TG). $10,000-20,000.

Homburger regarding an appointment or ball in January of 1977, and a small poster board announcing the collection of Freddy and Regina T. Homburger at Smith College Musuem of Art, September 18 to October 25, 1964. Accompanied by a sketch book of Fred Humburger with a self portrait dated May 19, 1981, followed by pages of notes sketches. CONDITION: all items are very good. (05-321/TG). $4,000-6,000.

Housed in a nice 19th century gilt gesso frame and signed and dated lower left "A.J. Franke/Muenchen/-87-". Franke was born in 1860. He studied at Breslau Academy and later at the Munich Academy. He traveled widely in North Africa in 1885-1887 and images created during that time period and his Arabian scenes such as this are the most desirable of all his works. Some of his works have brought over $60,000 at auction in recent years. SIZE: Painting is 13 3/4" x 10 1/2". Overall is 26" x 22 3/4". CONDITION: excellent. (05-404/JJ). $12,000-18,000.

IDA WAUGH (1846-1919, American) YOUNG MOTHER AND

INFANT. This wonderful oil on board portrait of a beautiful young mother with an adorable, cheruby infant in her arms. This painting was done by Ida Waugh, who worked wit...moreh Prang’s Chromolithograph Co. Waugh came from a family of famous painters including her half-brother Frederic Judd Waugh and her father, Samuel Bell. Her stepmother, Mary Eliza Young Waugh was a well-known miniaturist. Ida was an accomplished painter during a time when women in the art world were rare. Ida studied at the Academy Julien and the Academy del le’Cluse in Paris. Ida had a lifelong friend Amy Blanchard, whom she produced children’s books with. Amy Blanchard would write the script, whereas Ida would create all the beautiful pictures of young cheruby babies. She received various awards for her works. Many or most of her children’s books were published by the world-renowned chromolithography studio from Boston, Mass. by the name of L. Prang & Co. One of her paintings depicting six darling cheruby infants was used in a book published by Prang. Signed on the front in the upper right-hand corner, and also boldly signed on the back "Young Mother by Ida Waugh 40100 Pine St, Philadelphia, Penna". Housed in a simple gilt frame with an old, original label at the bottom titled "Ida Waugh". Ida passed in 1919 and spent many summers on Bailey Island in Maine’s Casco Bay. She and her friend Amy were instrumental for organizing the building of a summer chapel for the Episcopalian Church there on Bailey’s Island, which was completed in 1916. SIZE: 9" x 7". Overall including the frame is 9 1/4" w x 11 1/4" h. CONDITION: excellent. (05-107/JJ). $2,000-3,000.
