The book includes transcriptions of documents submitted to the House of Representatives by Abraham Lincoln, William Seward, and others. The book was published by the House of Representatives in the 37th Congress. CONDITION: the book appears to have all of its pages, although the binding is missing. Pages show no appreciable damage and are quite legible. 2) This book measures approx. 9” x 5 3/4". It is titled “The Case of the United States to be Laid Before the Tribunal of Arbitration to be Convened at Geneva.” The book was published in Washington by the Government Printing Office in 1872 at the behest of the Senate. The book addresses grievances of the United States, particularly against Great Britain, about the conduct of neutral nations toward the Confederacy during the American Civil War. CONDITION: the binding shows some separation at the spine, but the covers remain intact. The pages are not damaged and remain easily read. (02-21729/BF). $100-300.

Accessories include two metal ammo boxes mounted on either side of the axle, two wood-handled bore brushes, and a wooden ramrod secured by leather straps. CONDITION: metal parts have acquired light-spotted corrosion. The main beam of the carriage shows areas of finish loss and water damage. Functioning sighting screw and good bore. (02-22409/DS). Lot consists of: 1) Unmarked brass cannon on a cast and painted aluminum carriage. Carriage cap squares are painted and are not removable. Cannon measures 8 1/4" in lengt...moreh. Carriage measures 12 1/2" in length and 9" in width. Complete w/ a matching painted bore brush. This is a non-firing display piece. CONDITION: very good w/ mild wear to paint and some discoloration to cannon tube. 2) Unmarked brass mortar on fixed wood mounted w/ brass accoutrements. Mortar measures 3 1/4" in length. Base measures 4 1/8" wide and 5" long. Complete w/ chained base wedge. CONDITION: brass components exhibit pleasing patinas overall w/ some discoloration around the touch hole. Wood base is very good. 3) Non-firing replica of Leonardo Da Vinci's 1483 Bombarda. Cast cannon tube & adjustment crank w/ steel fire adjustment mechanism. Wood base w/ thin metal bands retained by tapped pins. CONDITION: cannon exhibits areas of discoloration & patina, but otherwise presents nicely overall. Wood base shows some light wear & loosening to the metal bands, but otherwise remains sturdy & serviceable. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18950/MLW). $200-300.

LANTAKA SWIVEL CANNON.

This cannon measures 17 5/8" in length with approx. a 3/4" bore. These cannons are commonly known as lantaka but are also referred to as rentaka or kanyon. They were exte...morensively used by merchant vessels traveling the waters surrounding the Malay Archipelago. They can be found throughout the Southeast Asia area and were popular in pre-colonial times. Lantaka were primarily used to defend against pirates inhabiting the area. Most of the cannon were made at foundries in Pahang and Malacca. The cannon is mounted for display on a driftwood stand. CONDITION: cannon has a dark, old, crusty patina, but still functions & swivels well. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor. (02-19913/BF). $400-600.

WOODEN WHEEL CARRIAGE. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 15" overall, including the Cascabel knob. The actual bore diameter is approx. .730. This attractive cannon has great detail and ...morefunctional components. The unmarked steel tube is in the white. The vent has been drilled. The elevation screw is functional. Cap squares are removable. The wooden solid trail carriage is equipped with 11 1/2" diameter dished wooden spoke wheels with steel rims. Axles are equipped with removable retaining pins. Carriage is equipped with metal ammunition boxes. Folding hand spike. The drag shoe is fastened with a chain. Two rammers equipped with wooden metal-bound heads and cleaning brushes. CONDITION: cannon has light wear and handling marks with spots of light oxidation. The rammer heads have loose ferrules, and the tiny leather retaining straps have become detached. The bore has a coarsely drilled appearance. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Gun Sport Ltd., owned by Jon R. Thomas. (02-20862/RW). $200-400.

1) This heavy banana-shaped lock measures approx. 7” in length. It is completely unmarked, except for a “V” stamped internally on the reverse of the lock plate. Lock appe...morears mechanically complete. CONDITION: dark overall patina. 2) A heavy 18th century lock measuring approx. 6 3/4" in length. The lock is marked “HENSHAW” in front of the cock with a crowned “1” under the pan. The rear of the lock is marked “1796” with the East India Company ownership mark. The lock appears mechanically complete. CONDITION: dark overall patina with a lighter gray patina on either side of the cock. 3) A nice 18th century lock measuring approx. 6 1/4" in length. The lock originally had a crowned “GR” in front of the cock that has been defaced. There is a small crowned “GR” with broad arrow under the pan. The rear of the lock is marked “DUBLIN CASTLE”. The lock appears mechanically complete. CONDITION: dark overall patina. (02-22468/BF). $600-800.
