WWII ARMY AIR CORPS A-2 LEATHER FLIGHT JACKET OF

LT. BIRRELL OF THE 548th BOMB SQUADRON OF THE 8th AIR FORCE. This fine original leather A-2 flight jacket has its original label that reads “TYPE A-2 DRAWING No. 30-1415 ...moreA.C. No. W535 oc 29191 PROPERTY AIR FORCE U.S. ARMY BRONCO MFG. CORP. NEW YORK, N.Y.” The size of the jacket is 40, and the original hanging strap is above the interior tag. The left breast has a leather tag that reads “LT. J. C. BIRRELL” above a painted leather squadron patch depicting Bugs Bunny riding a bomb. The reverse features blue & red paint and shows a WWII bomber above 35 painted bombs. The bombs are numbered with the area to be bombed painted beside each individual bomb. A wonderful visually impactful relic of the European Theater during WWII. CONDITION: jacket is in solid condition with no major faults and use wear only. The zipper functions, and snaps are in place on the pocket flaps. The elastic waistband is in used but solid condition. Cuffs show wear at the edges, and the left cuff has a period-stitched repair. Painted decoration remains sharp and easily read, and the patch is quite striking. (02-22441/BF). $1,500-2,500.

1) MARINE. A nice example of a WWI period Marine Corps dress uniform consisting of a dark blue tunic & lighter blue trousers. The tunic is piped in red and has 7 flat gil...moreded Marine Corps buttons down the front. The sleeves have large sized Sergeant stripes sewn on. There is a Mexican Service 1911-17 ribbon bar pinned to the left breast. The heavy wool trousers have a red stripe down the outside of each leg. The tunic is dated 1915 and the pants are dated 1917. CONDITION: uniform remains quite solid but there is some apparent moth damage, particularly to the tunic. 2) ARMY. An Army Air Corps Ike jacket for a Sergeant. The left sleeve has an early 9th Air Force patch above seargent stripes and 2 parallel gold bars with a green hash mark on the lower sleeve. The right sleeve has sergeant stripes & a Radio Operator’s patch on the lower sleeve. The open collar has the correct collar discs and 2 enameled 9th Air Force DI’s below. Above the left breast pocket are Aerial Gunner Wings & ribbons for the Air Medal (3 awards), Good Conduct Medal, ETO Medal (3 stars), American Theater Medal, & Victory Medal. Above the right pocket is a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon. The uniform comes with a period shirt & tie. CONDITION: uniform generally shows light wear only. MEDAL, AND A TINTYPE. 1,2) A gold Marksmanship Medal with a top bar that reads “FULLER MEDAL” and a bottom drop in the shape of a US shield that reads “DRILL CONTEST 1st ...morePRIZE”. There are 6 bars on this medal with different winners’ names. The back of the shield is engraved “Badger State Rifles Presented by Dr. L.L. Fuller Jan. 1st 90”. Included with this medal is a tintype of a Spanish American War Corporal wearing a 5-button uniform coat with the medal pinned to it. CONDITION: medal shows light wear but is missing one connection ring between the bars. Tintype is raw and shows some scuffs with craquelure. 3) A Marksmanship Medal in sterling silver with the top bar marked “ARMORY SHARP-SHOOTER”, and the drop is marked “DEFENDAM 22 REGIMENT N.G.S.N.Y.”. The medal has 6 bars with the dates 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1908, & 1909. The reverse of the drop is marked “ROBERT STOLL N.Y. 19 JOHN ST. STERLING”. CONDITION: light wear overall. 4) A Drill Medal in silver with gold bar & crossed cannons. The bar is marked in blue enamel “GARD TROPHY” with “C1” in a shield. Below the crossed rifle is a silver target engraved on the reverse “Presented to Co. G. 1st Infantry by T.D. GARD 1885”. CONDITION: light wear. 5) A Spanish American War Veteran’s Medal with eagle bar & cross drop. The ribbon is an American flag. CONDITION: light wear overall. W535 ac-28072 HAMILTON WATCH CO.”. It is a type AN5740 timepiece by Hamilton of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The watch is held in a metal case supported by springs on all four sides to reduce shock to the watch. The case is painted navy gray and has a sliding viewer at the top. A small brass and black plaque on the side reads, “CASE, CARRYING, WATCH, NAVIGATION U. S. ARMY A. C. GEO. H. ADAMSON TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN, U.S.A.”. WWII JAPANESE FUR-LINED FLIGHT SUIT, GLOVES, &

FLIGHT HELMET WITH A RUSSIAN HELMET. This group includes a large sized WWII Japanese fur-lined 1-piece flight suit. The body is lined in white fur and the collar is brown...more fur. The cloth is a green/brown colored heavy cotton. The front zippers shut and the waist has a belt closure. The gloves are soft brown leather with a brown fur lining. The flight helmet is light brown with a brown fur lining and a leather star sewn to the front. The helmet is painted green with a 5-pointed red star on the front. Helmet is complete with liner but no markings on the interior. CONDITION: flight suit appears unissued. Gloves show heavy wear and seam openings, particularly on the left-hand glove.
