The neckalce is strung on sterling silver chain link strand with a double row of handmade sterling silver desert pearl concho / concha beads with twelve blossom ends. The set is paired with a set of desert pearl concha / concho dangle earrings matching in sterling silver. The naja is stamped "GM" and "STERLING" and overall has a nice patina color and good condition with no signs of damage. The necklace measures 24"L clasp to clasp with the naja being 2.25" by 2 1/8". Earrings hang 2.25"L. Total weight of 130.20 grams.

This is an excellent large squash blossom necklace and earring set with beautiful old pawn styling in sterling silver set with branch coral and turquoise from master silv...moreersmith, Navajo Tom Pearls. The set shows a classic old pawn style squash blossom necklace with double strand of Navajo pearl concho sterling silver beads with large naja squash having a repousse sterling silver work bearing a large polished cabochon of turquoise dangling from the center and further accented by eight blossom pendants along the necklace strand with a classic flower pedal blossom design set with deep red branch coral at each. The necklace and earrings are each signed / stamped “Tom Pearls Sterling”. The set has a wonderful patina and is all heavy sterling silver construction with the turquoise being from the Bisbee Turquoise Mine. Truly an excellent set showing very good condition. The squash blossom measures 24.5”L with the naja being 2 5/8” by 2 5/8”. Each earring dangles 1 7/8”L each. Total weight of 143.8 grams.

Old Navajo Hasteen Bolo Tie w/ Morenci Turquoise

The lot features a beautiful old vintage bolo tie in sterling silver by Navajo silversmith Hasteen. The piece is hallmark stamped "A (or H) HASTEEN / STERLING" and shows ...morea heavy hand worked sterling silver construction with classic design and dates to the circa 1960-1970's. The piece shows three polished cabochons of Morenci Mine Turquoise showing a rich gem quality blue with matrix of pyrite. The front of the bolo tie shows a crown like sunburt overlay at the top and bottom as well as two leaf or feather like sections shadow boxing the center stone. Around the stone is a border of rope silver as well as several varying size large to small spots of sterling and a large border with fine cut edge finish. The piece is in a braided black leather classic strand and shows two handmade sterling silver tips shows tapering cones with stamped sunburst work at the top and handmade disc concho / concha ends. This is truly a wonderful piece with nice age and a nice stamping. The Hasteen name is well revered in the Navajo silversmith world with some fantastic work and highly collected pieces from such relatives as Tom Hasteen. Provenance: From a Bozeman estate and collected in the Southwest many years ago. The bolo overall measures 20.75"L (total length of strand being 41.5"L), bolo itself is 2.75" by 2" and the tips are 2.25"L each.

The artwork features a wonderfully and ...moreprofessionally crafted photogravure construction printed on a Japanese vellum paper that features three pipe bags that are highly beaded and shows a variety of lengths of fringe, this is an original photogravure that features the artist hand signed signature in the bottom right hand corner and shows a blind stamp in the bottom left hand corner that reads as follows: Copyrighted 1908 by E.S. Curtis. The photogravure is also marked above the blind stamp 'X2498-08.' Edward Sheriff Curtis was born in February, 1868 in White Water, Wisconsin. The Curtis family moved soon thereafter to Minnesota, and he grew up near the Chippewa, Menomini, and Winnebago Indian tribes. Curtis' interest in photography started in his teens when he built his own crude cameras and taught himself photography from self-help guides. Edward Sherriff Curtis was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and on Native American people. The condition of this original photogravure is fair to good with some slight staining to the right hand side of the print and to the left bottom corner of the print but otherwise shows fair to good overall condition. The measurements of this bordered original print is 15" x 12 3/8" the visible art measures 7 7/8" x 5 3/4". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery.

The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that feature...mores a traditional design from the Ganado Hubbell Trading Post that features as large central medallion with a stepped design and shows a wonderfully woven geometric pattern to the side border of the Ganado rug and shows colors such as medium red ends with a black border that shows a blended in dark brown and shows a intertwined decoration of light brown, medium red, off white, and dark brown. This is a very large rug and is uniquely presented with a tightly woven demeanor. Located southwest of Crystal in the geographical center of the Navajo Reservation the Ganado style of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800. The motif generally consists of one or more stepped diamonds or stepped and embellished triangles. The colors are usually dominated by a red background with gray, ivory, black and red designs surrounded by a geometric border. The thread count is 104 threads per square inch. The condition of this Navajo Ganado rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Navajo Ganado rug is 40" x 80".

Pawnee Style Polychrome Paint Dance Shield & Cover

The lot features a polychrome painted buckskin covered parfleche rawhide shield and cover with Pawnee style design. The piece exhibits an Indian brain tanned buckskin mat...moreerial stretched over a large parfleched rawhide Buffalo hide center disk with old faded polychrome painted design in green, black and red. There are two sections of long Indian hide fringe strips attached. The back has the original arm and shoulder strap still attached. The paint shows a thin green crescent moon like shape at the top with four claw bear paw symbols in black below showing a black spot at the center with long black line, across the bottom a half circle of red with dotted black line below. The back shows a nice dark patina with some slight drying of the hide. Pawnee Relics are exceedingly rare in the collecting community. The shield is in the style and manner of other Pawnee examples with correct paint, material, and symbols of documented examples but the age, origin and originality of the piece is unknown. Measures overall 17 1/2 inches in diameter. Good condition.

1890-1919 Fitchburg RR w/ Indian Ledger Art

The lot features an original circa 1890-1919 Ledger Page from the Fitchburg Railroad Company with original Northern Plains ledger art. Provenance: From the same collectio...moren as the 1890-1899 Statement of Blemmingham Ledger Book collection. The page shows a graphite and colored pencil ledge art from the Northern Plains, likely Sioux showing a Buffalo Bison kill scene. The piece shows a warrior or chief on horseback wearing a feather headdress war bonnet with the horse in yellow with a red lightning strike down the neck and bow and arrow in the hand. In front of the horse is a large spontoon lance coup spear with long red and black clothe strip with feather border. On the left is the Buffalo Bison bleeding from the chest with arrow at center, above at the top right is a four-point morning star in blue with four spirit circle (black, white, yellow and red), at the top left is a crescent white moon, and at center and below the horse is a rattle snake in graphite. The ledger page has nice foxing and discoloration around the edges from early age. The piece is from the Blemmingham Ledger book, the very same as the 1871 Example that sold in our September 2021 sale for $1,107 (shown with bp). The ledger page dates to the Fitchburg Railroad which was in operation from circa 1840-1919, the artwork appears to be of an older age but exact age is unknown. The ledger sheet measures 16 5/8” by 10 7/8”.

The photograph features its original tag from its last sale. This photograph was taken by E.O. Beaman on an expedition he was embarking on with a Major Powell and also employing Jack Hiller as they embarked on a journey up through the Arizona Territory and up into Utah. John Karl Hillers was an American government photographer. Hillers came to the United States in 1852. The condition of this framed photograph is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed photograph is 14 3/4" x 11 3/4". Featured in this lot is this original Doubleday Montana rodeo miniature placards. There are five miniature placards in this professionally framed display the first is a p...morelacard of "Cowgirls Headed For the Round-up" dated 1921 and marked Doubleday. The second is titled "Cowgirls at the Triangle Ranch Rodeo," and marked R.R. Doubleday and shows a scene of Cowgirls posing for a photo. The third is titled "'Sharkey' Famous Bucking Bull," and marked Doubleday L. Goustin and shows a cowboy being bucked off a bucking bull. The fourth placard shows a bareback rider mid jump on a bucking horse and is titled "Buddy Timmons on Jack Dempsey," and marked Doubleday. The last placard shows a cowgirl posing for a photo with her horse and is titled "Ruth Roach," and is marked Doubleday Photo. Ralph Russell Doubleday was a prominent rodeo photographer from 1910-1952. He was born on July 4, 1881, in Jackson County, Iowa, and after his family moved to Sycamore, Illinois, in 1900, he became interested in photographing local events. In August 1910, he traveled to the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and photographed his first rodeo. He captured Gus Nylen being thrown from bucking horse “Teddy Roosevelt”, and that image is considered to be the first shot of a man being thrown from a horse at a rodeo. Due to the success of selling prints and postcards of his photographs, Doubleday decided to make a career from rodeo photography. He shot his last event in 1952 and died on June 30, 1958. The condition of this framed miniature postcards is good with no obvious signs of damage to the postcards and shows a slight stain to the left side of the frame but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed collection of postcards is 10 1/4" x 8 7/8" and the postcards measurements range from 1 5/8" x 2 5/8" to 2 5/8" x 1 1/2".
