Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" on left lug, "G" in front of lug. Top of frame with "CSR" "G" and "C" proofs about the disconnector. Frame with "CSR" proof under the slide release for Charles Reed, a scarce inspector who only worked from August 1938 to December 1940, with observed ranges of 718360 - 722610. Other proofs include "P" near magazine release, "P" and Colt's VP proof on left side of trigger guard web, right side with "60". Right side of frame with US property marking, model designation, and serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short checkered trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and fully checkered walnut grips. Fully blued magazine with "S" on lip denoting manufacture by Scoville. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with silvering to sharp edges and to fore of slide and dust cover consistent with holster wear. Appropriate distension about proofs from application of stamp. Some superficial handling marks and scratches throughout, some silvering, most noticeable at right side of slide and at straps. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. This is an outstanding example of a very rare inspector. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, checkered thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short checkered trigger, long A1 grip safety, arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and fully checkered walnut grips. Two tone magazine with dual pinned base and "COLT / 45 AUTO" on baseplate. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the Colt factory bluing, with some superficial handling marks scattered throughout and beginning silvering on sharpest edges. Appropriate distension about the proofs on trigger guard from application of stamp. Most distracting marks are a thin takedown mark from incorrect reinstallation of slide release. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent, bright and shiny with strong rifling. This is an extremely good example from when Colt was turning out some of their best guns. Barrel devoid of markings. Top of frame with "CSR" and "G" proof about disconnector. Frame with "CSR" proof under slide release for Major Charles S. Reed, who inspected the approximate serial number range from 717282 to 723000. Other markings include "P" proof at magazine release, "T" and Colt's VP proof on left side of trigger guard, "60" on right side of trigger guard, and US property marking, model designation, and serial number on right side of frame. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release, checkered magazine release, short checkered trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and fully checkered walnut grips. Fully blued magazine with "S" on baseplate lip for Scoville manufacture. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the Colt factory bluing with distension about proofs from application of stamp. Some minor silvering and thinning to muzzle and front of dust cover from holster wear, and more generally to sharp edges. Scattered handling marks, most superficial, a small collection of marks around the right side of the magazine release. Small takedown mark. Stocks are very good with some minor handling marks and abraded heads. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong, sharp rifling. An outstanding example with a scarce inspector. Matching serial number on slide under firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" proof on left lug, and "G" ahead of lug. Top of frame has boxed "R.S." and faint "G" (?, difficult to read) proof near disconnector. Frame has boxed "R.S." proof below slide release for Colonel Robert Sears, the Army Inspector from August 3rd, 1937 through June 30th, 1941, with an approximate inspection range of 723000 to 750500, making his inspections fairly scarce. Other markings include a "P" at magazine release, "W" and Colt's VP proof on left side of trigger guard, US property marking, serial number, and model designation on right side of dust cover, and "60" subinspector on right side of trigger guard. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, checkered slide release, checkered thick tab safety, short checkered trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard look. Coltrock grips with scoop lightening and thin reinforcing rings. CONDITION: Overall very good, with the vast majority of the Colt brushed blue finish, with some scattered handling marks, some silvering, throughout; most offensive a small approximately 1cm x 1cm area at serial number. Grips are very good with some abraded heads on both scales. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting throughout. Left side of slide with two-line two-block patent and address information with an unc...moreircled Rampant Colt at rear, right side with "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY", "H" stamped vertically on the top lip of the firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel with a stacked "P / H" on hood, oriented to be read barrel up, with a second, indiscernible proof ahead of lug, looks like "N". "H" "X" and "G" about the disconnector on top of frame. Frame with US property marking on left side of dust cover, and intertwined GHS for Gilbert Stewart above the magazine release. Right side with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, thick tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut, checkered magazine release, long milled smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. Two tone magazine with lanyard loop. PROVENANCE: With paperwork attributing the pistol to Lieutenant Roy Tremourex. Tremourex graduated from University of California Mining College in 1906 and was a member of the first ROTC in Presidio. He was commissioned First Liutenant on July 12th, 1917, and transferred to 116th Engineers in November of that year. He served with them until January, 1918, when he was given command of a squad of engineers at Second Corps Schools. Includes history booklet for the division, scans from the National Archives, and consignor notes. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some distension about proofs from application of stamp. Some normal handling marks and surface scratches, one area of particular note at the slide between the blocks. Some silvering at mossing at muzzle and dust cover consistent with holster wear. Mechanically fine, bore is good with strong rifling and some moderate pitting in the grooves. Barrel Length: 5" Caliber/Bore: .45 ACP FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Colt Model: M1911 A1 Paperwork: Provenance Serial Number: 187311

Left side of slide has two-line, two-block patent and address information with intercepting Colt pony. Barrel with "G" ahead of lug, "P" on left lug, and "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber. Top of frame has "G" and "R.S." in a lozenge near disconnector. R.S. proof also stamped onleft side of frame under slide release, and is for Colonel Robert Sears. "P" proof near magazine release, left side of trigger guard with "VP" proof and what looks to be a "P", right with "60" proof. Right sid of frame with model designation ahead of slide release, US property mark behind release, and serial number. Interestingly, the last "9" digit appears to have been restruck at the factory, possibly due to a weak initial stamp, as the condition of the pistol does not indicate a refinish. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short checkered trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grips safety, and arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Fully blued magazine with "C" on baseplate lip. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some very minor handling marks, and some silvering to high edges, including at muzzle, consistent with holster wear. Frame with takedown mark, and distension about proofs from application of stamp. Plunger tube possibly replaced as the condition is not commensurate with the rest of the gun. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent, bright, with strong rifling and some mild frosting at grooves. Barrel is marked "K" on lug with "H" and "P" inspector and proof marks near hood. Frame is marked on left side with "JMG" cartouche and U.S. Property marking. Mounted with checkered large diamond wood grips. Accompanied by pinned base unmarked Colt 2 tone magazine and 1912 dated Rock Island Arsenal holster. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the majority of the original thinning brushed blue finish mixed with a gray patina with silvering near grip area from handling. Grips have been aftermarket carved with "RMH" on left grip panel near lower diamond and "HMH" on right grip panel near upper diamond. Mechanically fine. Bore is frosted with well-defined rifling. Holster has been marked "RMH" in the same manner as left grip panel and shows honest wear with supple leather and tight stitching. Slide is marked on left side with Colt manufacture panel and Rampant Colt near serrations, and is marked with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" on right side of slide. "P" and "H" inspector and proof marking observed on barrel near hood. "H" inspector marking observed above firing pin retaining plate and "G" inspector mark observed near ejector cut. "H" and "G" inspector marks observed on frame bridle near ejector. Left side of frame is marked with US Property marking and "GHS" cartouche. CONDITION: Very good, retaining a majority of original brushed blue finish mixing with a freckled gray patina with scattered light handling marks and silvering from use to grip area. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "F" in front of lug, and "P" on right lug. Polished feed ramp. Small parts are spurred checkered hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short stamped trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Coltwood grips with thick rings. Typical inspection marks throughout. Magazine marked "L" on baseplate lip, denoting Little manufacture. CONDITION: Retains virtually all of a period repark, probably arsenal. Barrel blue is original. Some spotting common to old park throughout and silvering at reciprocating areas and high edges consistent with holster wear. Typical takedown mark. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting towards chamber. A good example of a wartime gun. FJA inspection cartouche and P proofmark are visible on left side of frame near grips. Top of frame bridle near ejector is not marked. Other features include serrated slide lock, narrow checkered hammer, thick serrated safety, checkered magazine release, and serrated mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Mounted with checkered replacement fiber grips with "5564063" and "5564062" mold numbers.
