Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut (no "S" observed), long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop (no "S" observed) and truncated diamond walnut grips. Springfield magazine with distinct folded wings and lanyard loop. CONDITION: Good as partially rebuilt. While frame was not disassembled, lack of "S" proofs on mainspring housing and slide release indicate parts have been replaced. Retains somewhat less than half of a toning bluing, with the majority of the pistol a dove grey mixed with chocolate mossing. Areas of fine pitting through slide and frame, most noticeable on right side dust cover and about the ejection port. Grips are good with some handling marks throughout. Magazine has a copper repair at rear of feeding lips, and has evidence of torch colors at bottom. Mechanically fine, bore with softened rifling and moderate frosting in grooves. Dated "1918" with early, 3-didgit "427" serial number, this example was produced in the first year of mass production. After purchasing some Colt 1911s for naval and army...more use, Norway licensed production as the Model 1914 with slight modification. Just over 22,000 were produced prior to German occupation in 1940. Of standard configuration with blued finish, 5" barrel, half moon front sight, drift adjustable rear sight, extended takedown, and 2-piece truncated diamond checkered grips. No visible import marking. Matching numbers observed throughout. Complete with 4 lanyard loop base magazines, rare leather 3-cell carrier, and crown over "H.V." inspected flap holster. CONDITION: Very good overall. Pistol retains the vast majority of its arsenal blue with some edgewear and thinning. Grips have some finish loss and wear but no sign of major distress. Very good, bright bore with well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. Holster and magazine pouch are very good overall with some expected scuffs and wear. A great, early example with hard to find accessories. U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped horizontally on the top of the firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel with "3" ahead of lug and a horizontal "H" on rear lip of hood. Frame with US property marking on left side of dust cover, and intertwined WGP for Walter G. Penfield, right side with serial number on the right side of the dust cover. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut, long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, short grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips. Two tone magazine with dual pinned base. CONDITION: Very good, retaining virtually all of the factory bluing with some superficial handling marks and typical age related silvering throughout, and 2 areas of concentrated pitting and silvering on the left side of the slide, one at the muzzle and one over the Colt information. Two noticeable scratches at takedown, and between the information blocks on left side at slide. Straps are ver good, mixing with dove grey and a thin chocolate mossing. Right side with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, milled relief cut checkered slide release, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. Two-tone magazine with "R" on lip indicating manufacture by Risdon. CONDITION: Overall very good, retaining the majority of the factory bluing with some normal handling marks and silvering throughout, including some distension about proofs from application of stamp. Some small patches of flaking, primarily to slide, which are turning a brown patina. Straps are mixed, largely dovegrey and chocolate mossing, with most bluing at edges. Stocks are very good with some handling marks and minor abrasions to heads. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting near throat.
