INCREDIBLY RARE PAIR OF ORIGINAL GERMAN WW II MP44 MACHINE GUN GAS CAPE MATERIAL MAGAZINE POUCHES.

Lot # 1001 (Sale Order: 1 of 301)

Original German World War II MP44 pouches made in the late war and mustard tan in appearance, constructed of gas cape material. Pouches with light soiling and wear. 6 brown leather straps secure the individual MP44 magazine pouches. Brown leather trim has light to moderate wear and aging. Belt loops and "D-ring" attachments are in brown leather. Web belt loops on left pouch has somewhat legible 3-digit codes and markings, while right pouch exhibits legible stamped 3-digit codes and markings under flap. An exceedingly rare set of German WWII MP44 magazine pouches that would be difficult to upgrade. CONDITION: Overall very good to extremely fine.

ADDENDUM: Great News! These magazine pouches were personally examined by John Cross of Great Britain while at the Small Arms Review (SAR) Show in Phoenix December 1-2, 2023 and Mr. Cross declared them to be absolutely authentic pre-May 1945, and identical to a pair in his personal collection which he knows to be authentic. In addition, Mr. Cross verified to this cataloger that there is yet another set of pouches identical to these in the collection of a noted and advanced American collector. John Cross gave this cataloger permission to make this addendum quoting him to the catalog description. Collectors should not miss this opportunity to acquire this exceptional set of magazine pouches authenticated by a universally respected authority on late-war German “sheet-metal” machine guns, as well as accessories of the Mkb-42, MP-43, MP-44, and STG-44 family of machine guns.

(M) FABULOUS AND EXTREMELY DESIRABLE DELUXE TOP-OF-THE- LINE FUNCTIONAL FURR MINIATURE MODEL 1883 GA

Lot # 1018 (Sale Order: 7 of 301)

Measuring about knee high, this is the most deluxe functional model miniature that Furr offered. Most were purchased with tripods, but this one instead has a beautiful, wheeled carriage mount. Marked with a “Colt” nameplate on the top as well as the model. Note the attractiveness of this metal and wood carriage and think of the time and effort that must have gone into its construction. This makes this model all the more attractive to the observer and also eases the movement of it from place to place. According to the consignor, Furr is the only person to be granted full access to the Gatling gun museum and was allowed to take detailed measurements and photographs. His reproductions are exact. This specimen was completely restored by Doug Furr in early 2018 and has not been fired since. This is an unsigned specimen, and Furr thought that this is the only gun that got out of the factory unsigned. Included are two videos on a thumb drive of Doug Furr and consignor explaining maintenance, loading, and operation. The Furr Gatling guns incorporate the highest standards of quality fit and finish and are works of the human craftsman’s art. Faithfully reproduced in miniature during the 1970s these guns are fully functional like the originals, and one can access the mechanism for cleaning just like the originals. Measures 21" from floor to top of magazine, 28" from muzzle to end of trail, and 23" outer hub to outer hub. This will transfer as a modern firearm. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish throughout with some tarnishing in places. Wood is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp and positive. Bores are shiny and bright. Of more than dozen which we have offered over the years, this ensemble on its metal carriage tops them all. A great piece for an office or a den, and more than just a decoration. JWK 2023-12-94 Barrel Length: 12 - 3/4" Caliber/Bore: .22 Short FFL Status: Modern Manufacturer: Furr Model: Gatling Gun Serial Number: 27

EXTREMELY DESIRABLE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT LOT OF M-60 MACHINE GUN PARTS.

Lot # 1031 (Sale Order: 10 of 301)

Highly sought after sets of parts for the M-60 machine gun. Includes operating rod, belt guide which hangs to left of feed tray, 2 feed trays, 3 complete bolts, AA ring sight with base, charging handle, complete top cover and bags of springs and other small parts. Anybody who has shot the M-60 in military service, or on the range for that matter, is very familiar with how critically important it is to have spare parts on hand. CONDITION: Operating rod finish shows indications of use. Other parts are near excellent to mint. The M-60 collector/enthusiast who lets these parts get away will one day wish they had not. This would make an ideal display platform as well as a useful way to move your display as you see fit. This carriage will accommodate either the Argentine or the U.S. Maxim tripod, and no doubt many others using a "spacer". JWK 2023-12-41 This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.

CORRECTION: The original tripod is not included with this carriage. Photos updated.

RARE GERMAN WORLD WAR I SPANDAU MANUFACTURED MG-08 MAXIM MACHINE GUN PARTS KIT.

Lot # 1104 (Sale Order: 23 of 301)

Offered here are most of the parts of a German WWI MG-08 Maxim manufactured at Spandau Arsenal in 1917. No right sideplate present, but the remaining parts are fabulous and matching (540e), including: the left sideplate with optical sight bracket, bottom plate as an intact unit, the water jacket on trunnion, top cover with retention pin, fusee cover, fusee spring assembly, barrel, barrel extension plates with crosshead, connecting rod and handle, feed block (with lower arm broken off as is typical), and backplate with retention pins, are present and all are matching in serial number. The barrel is filled with and coated with preservative grease, as are most of the other parts. We left them as found. The Spandau Arsenal manufactured MG-08 Maxim is the scarcest manufacturer of this model to find on the collector's market. According to Dolf Goldsmith's book, Germany relocated the tooling for Model 1912 Maxim production from the Fabrique Nationale factory to Spandau after Liege was captured, and then opened a 3rd assembly line for production of the MG-08. The result was that approximately 40,000 MG-08 model guns were manufactured there in 1917. Production of the MG-08 at Spandau ceased early in 1918 in favor of MG-08/15 production. The Spandau 1917 produced MG-08 guns were fielded to the fronts and used, and hence their survivability was relatively low compared to the large number of later DWM produced guns. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good original finish thinning to a gray and brown patina on the water jacket with some dings, and some brown corrosion at the trunnion and on the optic bracket. The remaining parts, however, arrived coated in preservative grease, and they appear to be in very fine condition. The condition of the bore is unknown as we left the grease, but the chamber has never been welded. Wood handles of the backplate are extremely fine. The Maxim MG-08 is one of the most recognizable weapons of World War I, and remained in service albeit in a rear security role with the Germans through the end of World War II. This is truly a fabulous find for someone who desires to build up a display gun, has a registered sideplate, or who just wants some spare parts. JWK 2023-12-10
