(C) Very Unusual Boxlock Ejector Game Gun By Boss.

Lot # 626 (Sale Order: 26 of 531)

Boss, always touted as being a maker of "best" guns only, produced boxlock guns during the early 1900's which are marked with the Robertson name. This unusual completely Boss marked boxlock gun has dovetailed steel barrels engraved "Boss & Co St. James St London (S.W.)" on slightly swamped game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with London black powder proofs and later London nitro re-proofs for 2-1/2" chambers. Serial number is hand stamped on rear lump. Boxlock action features automatic safety and double triggers, and is engraved with 80% coverage well cut shaded scroll surrounding "BOSS & CO" in ribands on each side. Top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard are blued. SN is hand stamped on trigger guard tang. Lightly streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 7/8" over checkered wood butt on 3/4" extension. Classic point pattern checkering is at grip, and a vacant German silver shield is on toe line. Matching splinter Baker ejector forend has inset horn tip and Deeley release. Relatively new green canvas case with leather corners is lined in green felt, and appears to have an original Boss, Cork Street label in lid. Case contains pair of John Dickson marked snap caps, and a leather hand guard. Good, as partially refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of a good quality re-black. Action is mostly pewter gray with some silver highlights, other parts re-blued. Engraving softened. Stocks retain nearly all of an old light refinish over numerous marks, checkering re-cut. Bores are very fine with a few scattered pits and light striations. It appears that a very slight bulge has been tapped down approximately 12" back from muzzle on right barrel, before re- proof. Action is tight, rear lump peaned. Ejectors are in time. Case is close to new. Label is foxed and has rubs. (C)10 Gauge Winchester Model 1901 Shotgun.

Lot # 636 (Sale Order: 36 of 531)

Features rolled steel barrel with traditional two line barrel address and chamber marked "10 GA". The Model 1901, circa 1912, was offered as an all blue finish as standard with 32" barrels in 10 gauge only. Walnut stocks with checkered steel buttplate with the unique two piece forearm. Receiver is "WRA" in script marked on left side of receiver. The Model 1901 was not a real commercial success as it was competing with the new pump model variation of the now infamous Model 1897. Fewer than 13,500 of these guns where produced with many serial number ranges skipped in the production process, and the serial numbers were a continuation of the model 1887. Fine condition overall as restored. The gun retains most of its contemporary blue finish with some finish loss at muzzle and high points of receiver and barrel bands. Walnut stocks have been re-varnished with no evidence of sanding.Barrel Length: 32FFL Status: Curio & RelicGauge: 10Manufacturer: WinchesterModel: 1901Paperwork: No Serial Number: 72143

(C) Rare Winchester Lee Straight Pull Bolt Action Sporting Rifle (1908).

Lot # 646 (Sale Order: 46 of 531)

Features tapered round sporting barrel, integral sporting blade front sight, elevator adjusted sporting semi-buckhorn rear sight, one piece walnut stock with finger grooved forearms and steel shotgun pattern buttplate. The Model 1896, also known as the Lee Navy Sporting rifle, is an extremely scarce variation of the straight pull used by the United States Navy and Marine Corps. These rifles where short lived as the era of high velocity small bore cartridges had not come into age and they where not commercially well received. Any example is a true find as most Winchester collectors have never encountered a Sporting Model 1896 Lee Straight Pull. Very fine overall condition with most all rust blue finish remaining. Slight blue loss is evident at muzzle and high points of receiver. Two small areas of blue loss about 1/4" in diameter are present on barrel on left side forward of rear sight. Walnut stock is very fine with evidence of use but most all varnish remains. Several small scratches are present on left side where it appears rifle was rested on something long ago in its past. The buttplate has slight corrosion from ill storage and a slight amount of moisture or rust staining is evident at confluence of buttplate and stock. A rare opportunity to own one of Winchesters rarest production models.Barrel Length: 24"Caliber/Bore: .236 USNFFL Status: Curio & RelicManufacturer: WinchesterModel: Straight PullPaperwork: No Serial Number: 14958
