(M) STI TACTICAL .40 S&W SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL FROM THE DELTA FORCE TRIALS.

Lot # 3012 (Sale Order: 1 of 450)

Circa 2006-2007, Delta Force was experimenting with replacing the venerable 1911 pistol with a new platform. The two front runners were the Glock 22 and the STI Tactical, both .40 S&W. Ultimately, the Glock 22 was selected as the STI utilized a 140mm magazine that was too long to neatly fit the .40 caliber round selected by Delta, and the round could slide in the magazine, leading to feeding issues. The guns were returned to STI and STI quietly sold them, without disclosing their Delta provenance. Standard configuration of the STI Tactical .40 S&W pistol with STI logod Bo-Mar adjustable sights with tritium vials in 3 dot configuration, front and rear cocking serrations, lightened hammer, ambidextrous safeties, beavertail grip safety, frame with manufacturer markings, polymer grip module with slightly flared magazine well. Frame is additionally marked "NW" (No warranty) and "161" (Delta rack number). Other markings as standard. In the black plastic STI case with applied label on left side reading "5" TACT 40 STOCK SUPPLY / SAS9292 NO WARRANTY" right side with "SAS9292 838 10-30-08" underside with STI sticker and serial number hand written. Includes manual and 4 magazine packaging sleeves indicating that it was sent with 1 126mm flush fit magazine and 3 140mm competition magazines. CONDITION: Overall very good, showing evidence of handling throughout from when these guns were tested. Slide has some minor silvering to high edges and scattered handling marks throughout. Frame is very good with silvering to high edges and distension around "NW" and "161" stamps. Polymer grip module with light handling marks. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. Case is good. Finding guns with directly verifiable provenance to Delta Force is extremely difficult, and even fewer guns make it out of the cage. EMW Accessories: STI Case Barrel Length: 5" Caliber/Bore: .40 S&W FFL Status: Modern Manufacturer: STI Model: Tactical Serial Number: SAS 9292
