Item Details
Good U.S. Military model 1836 flintlock service pistol by R. Johnson, 1843 which was converted to percussion for the American Civil War (1860-1865). Round .54 caliber barrel is 8.5" L and stamped at the breech with inspector's mark (JH) over (P) with a brass blade front sight. The lock is stamped with (US) over (R. Johnson) over (Middn Conn) over (1843). Captive steel ramrod. Stock has remnants of (2) inspector's cartouche's stamped on the left side of the stock at the rear of the side plate, and the number (82). The stock is solid with scratches and dings from years of service. All steel parts have light areas of salt & pepper pitting which was cleaned and coated with a thin layer of old protective clear varnish. All lots are sold as is with no representation of age, condition or description. Absence of condition does not imply perfect or free of flaws including cracks, damage, tears or other possible imperfections. By participating in this auction bidders agree that all lots are sold as is without any warrants or representations with respect to the lots. The auctioneer retains the right to reject any bid and to withdraw or pass any lot at his or her absolute discretion. When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
