Cased Pair of Contemporary Silver Mounted Flintlock "Kentucky Pistols" Dated 1960 by William Buchele, Author of "Recreating the American Longrifle" -A) Buchele Flintlock Pistol
William Buchele (1895-1977) was a renowned 20th century artisan who produced a wide array of muzzleloading firearms and related items such as powder horns and tomahawks. He has remained highly influential as the author of the book "Recreating the American Longrifle" which has helped guide other generations of rifle builders. This pair is dated "1960" under "Buchele" on the locks. The locks and smoothbore barrels are a plum brown finish and have some light engraving while the furniture is silver and includes floral and scroll patterns as well as spread wing bald eagles on the pommels. The highly figured curly maple stocks have some incised carving at the barrel tang. The pair comes in a fitted case with a key.
