“Weep No More My Lady” Autographed by W. E. Debnam, & Photo of Lady Roosevelt

Lot # 238 (Sale Order: 246 of 258)

This is a paperback book “Weep No More, My Lady” by W.E. Debnam, “A Southerner Answers Mrs. Roosevelt’s Report on the “Poor and Unhappy’ South”. Mrs. Roosevelt had put o...moreut the Report, “The Poor & Unhappy South” and this book by Mrs. Debnam was a response to that report. This book is autographed on the interior page as follows: “To My Very Good Friend, From Eleanor, 10/19/50”. The irony of this inscription is that the book is critical of Mrs. Roosevelt and her report about Southerners, yet Mrs. Roosevelt whimsically signed it, knowing this, and the photograph depicts the Author, Mrs. Debnam shaking hands with Mrs. Roosevelt, by Cummins Photo W. VA., date printed 1950. Book is in used condition, with no torn pages. Please view the photos, or in person carefully to determine the age, condition, and quality of this lot.
