C.B. Barrington's fellow crew members were G.N. Ferguson, W.G. Towers & C. Barrington (brother). Charles Burton Barrington was later instrumental in the evolution of rugby in Ireland. As well as being a fine player he was an outstanding administrator. Together with another Trinity College man Richard M. Wall, they drew up a set of laws to regularise rugby as it was played across the country. The Irish rugby rules had 23 clauses. Six years late in 1875 the Irish Rugby Football Union was formed and Ireland played their first international match v England at the Kennington Oval 15th February 1875. An all-round sportsman C B Barrington was also a fine rower and was a winner of the Visitors' Cup at Henley in 1870, 1873 & 1874. Later Sir Charles Barrington, the family home was at the Glenstal Estate in Co. Limerick.
