Hamilton Watch Co. Traffic Special Model 669 Stainless Steel 17 Jewels Pocket Watch
This is a gorgeous vintage stainless steel Hamilton Watch Co. Traffic Special 17 Jewels Pocket Watch with Chain. It would be a beautiful piece to add to your watch collection. The Traffic Special was introduced around 1927, it used a Hamilton made grade 974, 17 Jewel Movement. They were made until around 1940. Into the 1950’s the company was not producing suitable movement, so they imported Swiss movement, and named it grade 669. These were known as the Traffic Special #1 #2. The Swiss origin were available in one grade or another up until US production ceased around 1969. Model #669, Stainless Steel Case, Case Measures: 51.00mm x 51.75mm, Crystal Measures: 43.65mm x 43.65mm, Dial Color: White, Hands: Black, Swiss Made, Crystal: Plastic, Chain Length: 12" has a clip hook clasp, do not know if it is original to watch. Weight: 114.5 Grams. This watch is in working order. There is scuffing from wear.
1956 Yellow Plymouth Belvedere Convertible Diecast Model 1:32
For 1956 Plymouth advertising stressed two main features. First was the new aerodynamic look which featured new tail fins and was emphasized even more when customers chose the optional duo-color “Sportone” trim. The other major advertising theme was that Plymouth was the first of the low-priced 3 (Chevrolet, Ford and Plymouth) to offer Push-Button Driving. Over 60% of 1956 buyers bought the Powerflite automatic transmission option which had pushbutton controls on the dashboard. The Belvedere was the top of the Plymouth line until the mid-year introduction of the Fury and it provided their only convertible for 1956. The Belvedere convertible, at $2,478 and only offered with the V-8 engine, was the highest price car in the line with the exception of the Sport Suburban wagon and the Fury. 1956, however, was not a particularly good year for either Plymouth (sales dropped over 100,000 from 1955) or the convertible, which only produced 6,735. 1954 Black Corvette Roadster Diecast Model 1:32
1954 was the first full year of production for the Corvette. After making just over 300 in their Flint, Michigan plant in 1953, production was shifted to their St. Louis factory with much greater capacity. Although this 2-passenger sports car is much admired today as the flagship design of a brand that is 57 years old and still going strong, there was much in these early Corvettes that bewildered enthusiasts. In their rush to compete with Jaguar and other foreign 2-seaters, G.M. was forced to use their Inline 6 engine which only provided 150horsepower. 0-to-60mph was 20% slower than the Jaguar. Also, the Corvette was only available with Powerglide automatic transmission. Plus it was a very austere car with few of the passenger comforts U.S. consumers were used to. Why then is it still an icon today. Simple, it had THE LOOK. Whether it is the first generation, like this 1954 Roadster, the great looking 1957’s, the Sting Ray of the late 1960’s, or today’s Z06, Corvettes look like a sports car should. By 1958 the Ford Motor Company had taken the 2-seat Thunderbird as far as they could. 1957 sales were up over 20% from the previous year to 21,380. Realizing that they had a great concept but needed a larger customer base the 4-passenger “Squarebird” was born. Sales increased 77% , almost all of these were Tudors. The convertible was not introduced until mid 1958. The “Squarebird” still had the sports car features of the earlier models, the hood scoop and the hard top. Ford did not stint on comfort. This is a vintage wooden Cigarette Case. It says “Aloha Hawaii” on the front and inscribed on the back is Norma Jeanne Mahaffey. As you slide back the wooden stick on top; it exposes holes for each of 10 cigarettes. Sometimes called the “ One Hand Cigarette Case”, just slide the wood stick back far enough to expose a cigarette from within the pre-drilled holes and slide to close again.
