FEATURES: Remington’s first comm...moreercial cartridge revolver, made between 1875 and 1889. Occasionally referred to as the Frontier Army or the Improved Army model, this example is chambered for the Remington .44 center fire round. After the first 14,000 guns, these were serial numbered in batches so this may or may not be the 239th gun to be made. CONDITION: Poor. Original finish has turned to a brown patina. The hammer needs to be replaced and it accompanies the revolver. The barrel has been cut to 5-1/2” and the front sight is missing. INVENTORY NO./CATEGORY: 5778-003/NRR ESTIMATE: $200-$350

CONDITION: Excellent. Bore is in excellent, reflective condition with near perfect rifling. The metal has retained almost all original bluing. The SN of this gun is 48, and it is one of roughly 150 that still exist. The left side of the receiver is stamped “REMINGTON’S ILION N.Y. U.S.A./PAT. MAY 3d NOV 15th 1864, APRIL 17th 1866”. The right side of the receiver is stamped “P/F.C.W.” The under side of the barrel, under the forearm grip, is stamped “48”. The left side of the trigger is stamped “P”. There is 1 cartouche on the base of the grip on the left. The metal tang running back the grip is stamped “USN”. CONDITION: Very good. Bore is very bright with good rifling. Barrel has taken a brown patina finish with some pitting on the left side. The grip and forward grip have minor scratching from storage. INVENTORY NO/CATEGORY: 5784-080/ANT ESTIMATE: $2200-$2500

FE...moreATURES: This piece appears to have been refinished and has the mixed numbers and components typical to the artillery variants. David. F. Clark inspection stamp above one of the serial numbers on the bottom. Three-line patent markings followed by “U.S” on the left side. “P” stamp on the barrel and two “K” inspection stamps on the base of the grip and in front of the trigger guard. Both sides of the grip on the bottom are stamped “RAC” and there is a faded cartouche on the right side of the grip base. CONDITION: Very good. The barrel is spotted with fading.
