Stamps - The First Commemorative Stamp Issues, 2-cent Battle of White Plains stamp, issued October 18, 1926 in New York City and White Plains, New York. The stamp depicts "Alexander Hamilton's Battery at the Battle of White Plains" after Edmund Ward's painting. The crossed flags in the lower part of the design consisted of a Continental flag and battle flag bearing the motto "Liberty or Death" which was first used in the Battle of White Plains. Comes preserved on a historical narrative panel.
*This stamp represents the Philatelic "Golden Age" with intricacy designs for an exceptional artistic miniature masterpiece, using the painstaking process of "intaglio" in which hundreds and hundreds of lines are engraved on a steel surface showcasing a wealth of detail.
