1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda

Lot # F204 (Sale Order: 4 of 65)

  • •Forest green with a tan top & Bamboo interior •2 door convertible with hard top •1 owner •Very low mileage with all service records •Rare manual transmission •Original & unrestored •Most desirable colors The first model, the 230SL, was a comfortable, well-equipped and compact two-seat sports touring machine that provided better performance than the 190SL. Instantly recognizable by virtue of their unique and strong detachable hardtop design, the cars were colloquially known as “pagodas”. The Mercedes-Benz W113 had a distinctive look and was manufactured from 1963 through to 1971 and featured a peppy little fuel injected 2.3 litre straight six engine. The larger capacity 280 was introduced in 1967 and remained largely unchanged until 1971 when the W107 model appeared in the dealer showrooms. This Pagoda originated from America and just last year underwent a very comprehensive restoration. The whole body was sandblasted and painted. In addition to paint, new suspension parts were fitted and the braking system overhauled. The interior is said to be original and in great condition throughout. The pagoda hardtop and soft-top convertible roof are also said to be in good condition. The seller states that the manual gearbox operates perfectly, the engine is in good order and is keen to point out that the air conditioning functions correctly. With all the recent work done on this, the most desirable of the W113 models, it represents very good value indeed and would be a delightful driver for its lucky new owner that you can drive and enjoy it today!

1969 Jaguar E-Type

Lot # F220 (Sale Order: 20 of 65)

  • 1969 Jaguar E-Type This car was gifted to twin brothers for their 16th birthday in 1989 by their father, a Jaguar collector in Plano, TX. He purchased the car in 1988 and had the car repainted and the interior redone prior to presenting it to his sons. The original color was green; however, the car was yellow with tan interior when he bought it. The brothers decided they wanted the car white with black interior, so it was redone to their choice. The lacquer paint used was a correct Jaguar color. In 1994 the engine was rebuilt and the engine compartment painted to match the car. Since 1994, the car has traveled less than 3500 miles and the current odometer reading of just over 25,000 miles is believed to be correct. When the E Type was introduced in 1961, Enzo Ferrari praised it as ‘the most beautiful car ever made.’ The London Telegraph agreed in 2008 ranking the E Type as number one on its list of "100 most beautiful cars." Soon after the car's debut one was placed into the Museum of Modem Art where it remains in the collection today. The coupe originally sold for $5895. The straight six twin overhead cam engine was the same type that gave Jaguar five victories at Le Mans in the 50s. The 1961 edition had 265 horsepower allowing the car a top speed of 150 mph, making it at the time the fastest production car in the world. Of the 72,520 E Types produced from 1961 -1975, just under 44,000 came to the U.S. This series 2 car is one of 4,855 coupes built from August 1968 – October 1970.

2003 BMW Z8 ALPINA

Lot # F224 (Sale Order: 24 of 65)

  • 2003 BMW Z8 Alpina • Believed to be 12,204 original miles • No. 514 of 555 produced • 4.8/375 HP DOHC engine • Port fuel injections • Bosch Motronic engine control system • ZF 5-speed automatic transmission with Switchtronic manual mode • 20-inch Alpina wheels • Michelin Pilot Sport tires • Power 4-wheel disc brakes • Power windows, locks and seats • Silver with Black leather interior • Special Alpina stitching on the seats, numbered plaque, blue-face instruments, gear position display, door sill plates and softer shocks than the Z8 • Special pistons, rods and ports that were polished and matched by hand • Factory rated at 0-60 in 5 seconds and top speed of 161 MPH • Car cover Over the last 50 years, German specialty manufacturer Alpina partnered with BMW to capture numerous European and World Touring Car Championships before turning its attention to technical innovations and manufacturing generations of BMW Alpinas, in turn creating some of the most exclusive automobiles in the world. In 2003, the company worked its magic with an Alpina version of the exclusive BMW Z8 roadster. Straight out of the box, the Z8 is as impressive a Grand Touring machine as one would expect from BMW, combining the M5’s powerful port fuel-injected, dual overhead-cam 4.9L V-8 with a robust 6-speed manual transmission, superior handling and a stylish two-seater body that recalls the classic 1956 BMW 507 roadster. Alpina’s treatment began with swapping the Z8’s 4.9L engine for the 4.8/375 HP V-8 from the 5-series Alpina B10 V-8 S, a hand-built piece with Bosch Motronic computer controls, special pistons, rods and ports polished by hand, and its associated 5-speed ZF automatic with Switch-Tronic shift buttons and a special Alpina wire-spoke steering wheel. In keeping with Alpina’s practice of relaxing suspension settings for a more comfortable ride, the shocks are softer than standard Z8 units, and the wheels are 20-inch, 20-spoke Alpina alloys with low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport tires over power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes. The interior is minimally altered, but certainly Alpina in character with special seat stitching, gear position display and sill plates, a numbered plaque in place of the usual Z8 emblem and blue-faced instruments; power windows, locks and seats are standard. Finished in silver with a black leather interior and black top, this immaculate 2003 BMW Alpina roadster is No. 514 of 555 produced and has travelled 12,204 original miles. Credited with a factory rating of 0-60 MPH in 5 seconds and a limited top speed of 161 MPH, it offers one of the best driving experiences in the history of the BMW-Alpina partnership.

The lightweight RS set the basic template, using a non-turbo air-cooled flat-6 punched out to 3.8L and rated at 300 HP, bolt-on Turbo-style wheel-arch flares, larger brake discs clamped by 4-piston calipers and adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars. More obviously equipped for the track, the RSR incorporated a full roll cage, a front strut brace, an adjustable tail spoiler, 6-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher. The subsequent GT2 combined the RS/RSR's purity of purpose with a tuned version of the 993 Turbo's twin-turbocharged engine rated at 444 HP. Essentially a street legal race car, the GT2 sported an aggressive-looking front spoiler with upturned side winglets, wider bolt-on wheel flares and a huge rear spoiler with integrated air scoops. Using 2-wheel drive instead of the production Turbo's all-wheel system shaved even more weight, resulting in a top speed of almost 190 MPH and road-holding that bordered on the supernatural This exceptionally rare one-owner 1996 Porsche 911 GT2 Evo represented the top specification ever produced for any air-cooled Porsche. Designed to compete in FIA GT1, it incorporated a twin turbocharged 3.6L flat-6 engine rated at a full 600 HP and 490 lb-ft of torque. Porsche widened the rear fender extensions to cover wider modular wheels and added a new front spoiler with inlets for oil and brake cooling. A second deck appeared on the already outlandish rear spoiler, which could be mounted higher in the air stream for added downforce. Alas, by then the competition in GT1 had already left the Evo behind. Only 11 were ever built before Porsche moved onto the 996, making these cars among the rarest in the 911 racing lineage. With approximately 7,000 kilometers on the odometer, this GT2 Evo is exactly as it left the factory, an artifact from one of the most exciting periods in Porsche's racing history
