It was published serially throughout 1819 and 1820. The collection includes two of Irving's best-known stories, attributed to the fictional Dutch historian Diedrich Knickerbocker, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle".

Profusely illustrated with maps and drawings. "George Ebers [1837-1898] was a German Egyptologist and Professor at Leipzig University. He is famous for discovering a rare Egyptian papyri of herbal medicine in Thebes that dates to 1550 B.C. Known as the Ebers Papyrus,it is one of the most well preserved of its kind. In addition to his archaeological writing, Ebers penned historical fiction, using his knowledge of Egypt as a setting, romanticizing its myths and legends that helped to popularize the work of early Egyptologists."

I looked up this diary years ago and it was located in a southern US college however today I can't find it - and I don't remember where. There is no other listing. Someone typed up the entire diary - 331 pages - and here it is. You can read it - republish it - anything you want! A REMINDER -> THE PHOTOGRAPH OF POTTS IS NOT INCLUDED - I FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET. ALSO -> THIS IS NOT FOR THE ACTUAL DIARY (READ ABOVE AGAIN) "Eugenia Dunlap Potts, a native of Lancaster, Kentucky, was the daughter of United States Congressman George W. Dunlap. She met her future husband, Dr. Richard Potts, during an 1861 visit to Short Mountain, Arkansas where he was serving in the United States Army. Eugenia returned to Lancaster where she and Dr. Potts were married in September 1861. Because of her husband's loyalty to the Confederacy, Mrs. Potts spent the war years in a variety of cities in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi where her husband practiced medicine. Following the war, she authored THE SONG OF LANCASTER, A KENTUCKY GIRL IN DIXIE, and many short stories."
