ORIGINALLY AN MISSIURE CAR, BACKGROUND IN 1952 THE WILLYS OVERLAND COMPANY ROLLED OUT A NEW AUTOMOBILE AFTER A LONG ABSENCE FROM THE PASSENGER CAR MARKET. THE COMPANY HAD BEEN MADE FOREVER INFAMOUS FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE WAR EFFORT BY MANUFACTURING OF IT'S ENGINEERING MARVEL- THE JEEP. AFTER THE WAR, WILLYS OVERLAND CONTINUED TO BE INTRIGUED BY ADVANCEMENTS IN AVIATION PRINCIPLES INTO THE MANUFACTURE OF AN ALL NEW CAR. THE FATHER OF THIS ALL NEW CAR WAS CLYDE PATTON, A TALENTED ENGINEER WHO WAS HAND-PICKED FOR THE JOB, ND RECOGNIZED FOR HIS HELP IN GUIDING PACKARD TO GREATNESS. LESSONS LEARNED FROM AVIATION WAS TO PRODUCE A LIGHT (UNITIZED BODY) CAR WITH A HIGH POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO.
