1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda

Lot #301 (Sale Order 1 of 51)

UK-supplied, RHD Pagoda showing just 71,000 miles with complete historyNumbers matching, two owners from new, and the second from 1974, a true time capsuleSubstantial history folder with service booklet showing 18 services at a main agentLow ownership, timeless colours, original and correct, a rare opportunity presentsThe second generation of the SL series began with the 230 of 1963. Designed by Paul Bracq, its wonderfully crisp styling clothed a monocoque chassis equipped with all-round independent suspension, power assisted disc/drum brakes, recirculating ball steering and a 2306cc straight-six engine of 150bhp and 145 lbs-ft of torque mated to either a four-speed manual or automatic transmission. The car was an international hit for Mercedes-Benz throughout the 1960s and has remained hugely popular amongst film stars, musicians and enthusiasts ever since. The 230 SL Pagoda we have on offer here is perfectly honest and original, just the way we enthusiasts love to see them, full of a character and charm that no restoration can ever replicate. It's a UK, right-hand drive car finished in Silver Grey Metallic, fitted with an automatic gearbox, and first registered on the 1st of August 1966. The original service booklet shows the first three services were carried out by the supplying Mercedes-Benz Dealership, Croft & Blackburn, in Ripon. Care of the car would then be transferred to Charles Sidney Mercedes-Benz, Bradford, for the next 14 services to a mileage of 57,140. A Bill of Sale included in the history folder shows this 230SL became the property of its second owner on the 18th of June 1974. After the 18th main dealer service, the second keeper decided he would personally keep up the maintenance schedule with all work documented including dates and mileage. The substantial history folder includes MoT Certificates from 1975 to 2012 leaving, in our opinion, no reason to discount the mileage showing on the speedometer. This history folder also includes Tax Discs from 1975 onwards, the original Mercedes-Benz build sheet, original logbook and the original book pack including service booklet detailing the service history. Also accompanying the car in this sale will be its original tool kit and spare keys with the original key-fob.The new owner of this wonderfully well-preserved car will need to decide if cosmetically this car would benefit from some paintwork, or maybe to leave it just the way it is. The chrome is excellent, and the interior appears to be in good order with the original headlining, dashboard and Tex seats also presenting well. Having been dry-stored for the last four years the car is to be presented for sale recommissioned with a fresh MoT Certificate. Rarely do Pagodas, UK-supplied, RHD, very low ownership and with such a fantastic history folder come to market, an opportunity surely not to be missed. "In all the years I have been driving, I cannot remember ever driving a car that I would have liked to own more ". (Sir Stirling Moss in a letter to the racing director Alfred Neubauer.)

1964 Lotus Elan Series I 1964 Lotus Elan Series I

1964 Lotus Elan Series I

Lot #302 (Sale Order 2 of 51)

An early and desirable Series I Elan Drophead Coupé Approximately only 680kgs and fitted with a DOHC 1558cc engineRestored sympathetically by people who know what they are doingSupplied with a new MoT, a UK V5c, and a file of invoices The original Lotus Elan (Type 26), was first introduced in 1962 as a roadster and replaced the elegant, but unreliable and costly to produce, Lotus Elite. It was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass body and in the early days, Elans were also available in kit form for home assembly but predictably that didn't last long. As is often the way, the Elan evolved through a number of iterations before manufacture ceased in 1973. These developments mainly concerned comfort and civility but all through its life the essence of the Elan didn't change. A technologically advanced DOHC development of Ford's proven 'Kent' engine, bored out to 1558cc (commonly known as the Twin-Cam) provided the propulsion, whilst cutting-edge features such as all-round disc brakes, fully independent suspension and nimble rack and pinion steering provided agility and handling that was simply amazing compared to the opposition.Colin Chapman proudly announced in the launch literature that "We wanted to build you a fun car.."; a brief he achieved with vigour thanks to the fact that his unequalled talent for vehicle set-up was never more prevalent than in the Elan's handling. Exciting paintwork colours were introduced such as Carnival Red, Pistachio Lime Green and the delectable Lotus Yellow and the Elan became the 'Darling' of the High Street in the mid-sixties.Offered here is a rare and beautiful example of a Series I Lotus Elan drophead coupe, first registered on the 7th July 1964. Our vendor, a chartered surveyor by profession, discovered this car in 2014 in a barn on one of his site visits and, after some negotiations, persuaded the previous owner to part with this very early car. It had been languishing for some time and consequently needed a comprehensive restoration. Our vendor has been involved in motorsport in his spare time for many years and had experience of the abilities of the team at Startline Services so they were entrusted with returning the Elan to life. The car was totally dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up using as much of the original as possible and refurbishing components where necessary. Every Elan needs a new chassis at some point and that was obviously the place to start with new parts being sourced from the usual Lotus specialists, including Paul Matty and Mick Miller Lotus. The engine was removed and sent to Owlesbury Crankshaft Services where the cylinder block was rebored and the crank reground. Once back at Startline Services, it was re-assembled with a new clutch and installed back into the chassis. The GRP body was carefully repaired, with particular attention being paid to those areas where Series 1 cars are known to 'stretch', and was then treated to a full respray in Lotus Yellow. Apart from the door cards, the car's trim had survived well and was re-installed. The wooden dashboard was totally restored at considerable cost and now looks fabulous. The front and rear suspension and brakes were rebuilt and the car was finally put back on the road. Our vendor had been keen to keep the Elan looking as original as possible and one of the best things about the Elan is that nearly everything is available from specialists with Paul Matty, in particular, retaining a huge quantity of new /old stock for these delightful little cars. Supplied with a UK V5c and a new MoT prior to the sale, this lovely early Elan is exactly what the doctor ordered – an iconic British Classic looking just as Mr Chapman intended.

1963 Morris Mini-Minor

Lot #303 (Sale Order 3 of 51)

Early 850 with floor starter finished in Pale Yellow and White. Very sound car justifying a refreshExtensive and expensive (£10,000) interior refurbishment using some fabulous leather and carpets'Spinneybeck' is the worlds leading supplier of full grain, aniline dyed Italian upholstery leather Minilite wheels, disc brake conversion, sports mirrors."The engine and gearbox run perfectly and it starts on the button with no hesitation" This lovely 1963 Morris Mini-Minor 850 returned from New Zealand in 2017 where it had recently been completely refurbished and had been freshly painted in the 1963 Mini-Cooper colours of Fiesta Yellow with an Old English White roof. The condition of the car was so good when it was first purchased, that the decision was taken to really 'push the boat out' when it came to the refurb. The seats were totally rebuilt and then covered in a Cascia 'Spinneybeck' hide, as were the rear door cards and front door linings. Spinneybeck is the worlds leading supplier of full grain, aniline dyed Italian upholstery leather and hugely expensive. The Black carpet was also very expensive and looks like it might be Cashmere. The 1963 switch panel and the floor-mounted 'Start Button' have been retained, but a Cooper binnacle has been fitted and the font parcel shelf boxed in. All in all, a lovely quality interior. The engine appears to be absolutely standard. The car sits on four-stud, Minilite-style wheels and has been converted to disc brakes Externally it has been fitted with Mini-Cooper bumpers. a flip top fuel filler, after-market wing mirrors on alloy brackets, leather bonnet-straps, and clear indicator lenses. We understand that the total account for all this work came to around £10,000This little yellow mini appears to be in excellent condition all round and according to our vendor "The engine and gearbox run perfectly and it starts on the button with no hesitation" The car is a long way from standard, however, it's an absolutely charming little eye-catcher and would sit proudly in any collector's garage.

1988 BMW E30 M3 Evolution II 1988 BMW E30 M3 Evolution II

1988 BMW E30 M3 Evolution II

Lot #304 (Sale Order 4 of 51)

1/501 'Homologation Specials' and 1/40 UK-supplied cars with just 62,000 milesFull body restoration completed in 2015 to an extremely high standard Dedicated enthusiast owned for 16 years with a huge history file, fully traceableCosmetically flawless, mechanically excellent, your opportunity to obtain the legend The E30 M3 was the first purpose-built saloon produced by BMW as a racing homologation special by BMW's in-house Motorsport division. Introduced in 1986 as a road car, it dominated Touring Car racing throughout the World taking countless titles including the prestigious German, Australian and British titles, not to mention the World Touring Car Championship in 1987. To comply with DTM homologation rules, a minimum of 500 M3s, retaining all the aerodynamic features of the 'Works' racers. had to be built and sold to the publicThe BMW M3 Evolution II was probably the closest to a 'Group A' racing-car experience it was possible to have on public roads in 1988. Compared to a normal specification M3, the engine was slightly more powerful thanks to a new camshaft, pistons and intake system and benefitted from a lighter flywheel and lightened boot-lid, windows and bumpers. Such modifications made the car quicker and more 'pointy' compared to the standard M3. Of the 17,000 M3s produced, only 501 Evo 2's left the factory, making this example one of the most desirable 1980s homologation specials in today's market. This, UK-supplied, Evo II was registered new on 18th August 1988, and its first owner kept it for 6 months before returning the car to BMW as a deposit against the first Sport Evolution III available in the UK. As a UK car, it has an MPH speedo and English language computer display from new and we can confirm that it still retains matching chassis and engine numbers. Unusually the car has stayed within a small geographical area (a picture of it still hangs in the local BMW dealer-principals office) and the current owner has been in contact with all but one of the M3's six previous keepers, with each one remembering it fondly. The cars complete history is mapped out within the owner's file and accompanying the car in this sale will be a memory stick containing 350+ images of the complete body restoration conducted in 2015. Importantly all the panels were found to be original, including the scuttle and rear wings and showed no signs of damage or repair. At present the car is fitted with some features that are the preference of the current owner, however, all correct original parts are supplied with the car including, front grille, steering wheel, speakers, stereo and air-box. On test, the car fired from cold with ease with no 'slap' from the timing chain, all gears engaged very nicely, and overall the car felt tight and precise. In fact, it is one of the best I have driven.A well sorted E30 M3 is just a bit special and Evo IIs, particularly in Misano Red are rare and sought-after. As well as being probably the most fun you can have on four wheels, this lovely example could turn out to be a particularly shrewd investment...

2000 Lotus 340R 2000 Lotus 340R

2000 Lotus 340R

Lot #305 (Sale Order 5 of 51)

One of just 340 built, outstanding condition showing little signs of useOdometer indicating just 415 miles and wearing the all-important tyres unique to the 340RRecent body off inspection and full service at leading Lotus specialistA zero compromise concept that made it through to production, interesting and unusualBuilt by Lotus in 2000 as the ultimate track-day car, the 340R is a special edition based on the Lotus Elise and uses the Elise's bonded aluminium mid-engine chassis, basic running gear, and the 1.8litre Rover 'K' Series in its 177bhp form. Performance was exceptional with 0-60mph in just over 4 seconds and 100mph arriving in 10.7 seconds. Just 340 were built sharing the same silver and black colour scheme and all were sold before manufacture. Despite looking like a dedicated track day special, a role at which it excels, it's potentially fully road legal and delivers a level of ride comfort totally unexpected in such a performance-focused car. This example, build number 104, was the last of 8 left-hand-drive units delivered new to the USA for track or competition use only, and therefore featured some performance enhancements rather than downgrades as is often the case when sports cars 'cross the pond'. With very little use and showing just 415 miles in total, the car still sits on its original Yokohama tyres, a very important factor for collectors as the 340R had been developed in collaboration with Yokohama. These unique tyres are now hard to obtain and were developed specifically for this car alone. Upon arrival in the UK during January 2018, the car visited a known marque specialist for a full body off inspection and was treated to a cambelt service, fresh fluids and filters at the same time.Presented with the supplying dealer book packs, a Certificate of Provenance, invoices for the recent inspection, and all related import documents showing duties paid. A rare opportunity presents to own a highly collectable, track focused, zero compromise, limited production-run special.

1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Drophead Coupé 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Drophead Coupé

1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Drophead Coupé

Lot #306 (Sale Order 6 of 51)

1 of just 151 MC-specification XK140sFactory-fitted C-Type cylinder head. Lusty 210bhp at 5750rpm Subtle upgrades offering an improved driving experienceExceptional standard of restoration in a stunning colour combination Offered here is a beautifully restored, matching numbers, XK140 Special Equipment, that was dispatched to the Jaguar Distributor, Hoffman of New York USA in May 1955. The JDHT Certificate shows that it was delivered new to R.S.Scholes of Brooklyn in MC specification which included a C-Type cylinder head. The history file contains a full photographic record of an earlier restoration when the original colour of Cream was changed. The Jaguar was imported into Germany in February 2010 and the history file contains the Import Document in the name of Mr Alexander Krahe. He set about another restoration involving renowned Jaguar specialists Twyford Motors with invoices totalling approximately £40.000. The work involved retrimming the interior in Jaguar Red leather, the original colour, and applying new Burr Walnut veneers to the dashboard and door cappings. Finished in Gloss Black, the paintwork still retains a deep shine, and the period correct 72 spoke wire wheels were re-finished in black A new black mohair hood and wood surrounds were also fitted. This car features twin SU H8 2 carburettors and the optional factory-fitted C-Type cylinder head, resulting in a very healthy 210 bhp @ 5,750 rpm. It's believed that just 151 cars were built to this specification. Obviously, with a brief to make this XK a driver's dream, a lot of subtle modifications were made to enhance the driving experience. A power-assisted steering conversion was fitted, disc brakes to the front with a servo, alternator, electronic ignition, uprated heater, seat belts, manual choke, and adjustable dampers. With a 'nod' to modernity and our need to remain in communication at all times, a concealed socket for Sat Nav and a radio/cd player with an I-pod port were installed. Uprated suspension bushes and a stiffer front anti-roll bar are fitted. There is also a battery conditioner socket to make charging a simple exercise. The modifications to this stunning drophead have been carefully and sympathetically applied to make driving and touring a real experience. The colour combination is truly special and the overall condition certainly makes this one of the best XK140s available in the marketplace …. Alpine Tour anyone?

1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo

1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo

Lot #307 (Sale Order 7 of 51)

Only 30,500 km from a Japanese collector and imported in 2017Immaculately presented inside and out reflecting careful ownershipStill wearing factory fitted plastic door card protectionSupplied with a history file from the time spent in JapanDeveloped from a humble but sharp-suited five-door hatchback, the Lancia Delta spawned several performance derivatives and with the inclusion of four-wheel drive and turbocharging, the Delta became a very accomplished competition car, dominating the World Rally Championships in the late 1980s. With distinctively flared arches to accommodate the ever-increasing track, the Evoluzione began production in 1991 to meet with homologation requirements laid down by the FIA. The engine, although technically the same as the earlier 16V cars, was remapped to give 210bhp at 5750rpm in order to compensate for the slight increase in weight and larger frontal area. These developments were aimed at improving the handling potential of the car and it worked, with the new Integrale being considerably quicker over rally stages on both asphalt and gravel.Supplied new to Japan in 1993, spending many years as part of a small collection, the car was brought to the UK by the current custodian along with Japanese paperwork outlining work carried out during its stay in the Far East. Presented in unmarked Monza Red retaining a depth of colour reflecting careful storage over the years, with good panel fit. The grey Alcantara interior still has plastic coverings on the door cards likely to have been fitted at the factory for protection during transit. With impeccable road manners aided by four-wheel drive and stunning turbocharged performance this 80's rallying legend surely must be on every motoring enthusiasts bucket list?

1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC Ex-Sir John Whitmore 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC Ex-Sir John Whitmore

1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC Ex-Sir John Whitmore

Lot #308 (Sale Order 8 of 51)

Originally supplied in Opalescent Golden Sand with a Red leather interior.Later painted Carmen RedNew headlining, exhaust, top end rebuild .£12,000 in 2012Fresh from a glass out respray in gleaming Carmen Red. New ChromeGreat History File. Original Delivery Inspection Sheet, Operating and Maintenance Handbook, Heritage Certificate DLB 334C was completed on the 2nd of January 1965 and was duly despatched to its original dealership, Henlys Ltd of London. The first registered keeper was indeed Sir John Henry Douglas Whitmore, 2nd Baronet of Orsett Hall, Grays, Essex an extremely well known and established racing driver of the sixties. Born into a land-owning family, Sir John first turned to motor sports in 1956 and after a spell of rallying and sprinting began circuit racing with a Lotus 6 in 1958. In 1959, Lotus boss Colin Chapman offered him a drive at the 24 Hours of Le Mans sharing a Lotus Elite with Jim Clark, resulting in a remarkable 2nd in class for the talented pairing. However, it's probably his association with the British Saloon Car Championship for which he will be best remembered. In his first year in the competition, 1961, Sir John won the Championship outright in his BMC Min, and in 1963 almost repeated the feat in his Mini-Cooper (and latterly Cooper S) finishing second after a series of legendary 'David and Goliath' battles with Graham Hill in his Jaguar and Jack Sears, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Dan Gurney in their 7-litre Galaxies. In 1965 he won the European Touring Car Championship in a Lotus Cortina by finishing first in his class in 8 of the 9 1965 ETCC races. He returned to Le Mans n 1965 and 1966 aboard a works Ford GT40 but had to retire from the race both years with mechanical problems, but enjoyed many successes as a member of Carroll Shelby's World Sportscar Championship-winning team. In 1966, at the height of his fame, Sir John retired from motor sports to pursue a career in the emerging science of sports psychology. He is the author of the influential work 'Coaching for Performance'. After many years away from motor sport, Sir John returned in 1987 and enjoyed many successful seasons of historic competition, including driving for the revived Alan Mann Racing Team, sharing cars with Alan himself at times. He finally hung up his crash helmet for the second time a few years ago and sadly passed away in April 2017.DLB was originally supplied in Opalescent Golden Sand with a Red leather interior, however, today it's resplendent in Carmen Red with the original interior showing a lovely level of patina. The car comes with a good history file containing many invoices over the years detailing parts that have been purchased to keep this venerable Series II on the road. A head-gasket failure in 2012 prompted a top-end rebuild and the downtime was used to finish a number of outstanding jobs including some trim repairs, a new headling, new exhaust and brackets etc. Expenditure of around £12,000 was incurred at this point. DLB has just returned from a complete glass out professional repaint and body restoration. It has been treated to new chrome bumpers and other cosmetic parts before being carefully detailed and prepared for sale. In order to ensure that the car drives as well as it looks the decision was taken to introduce a number of mechanical upgrades including a power steering rack, Spax adjustable shock absorbers and Coopercraft disc brakes. The original items will be included in the sale should a prospective purchaser wish to put the car back to its original factory specification. In the history file are the original Delivery Inspection Sheet, a copy of The Jaguar Drivers Club Prospectus, an original Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook, a Jaguar list of Service and Facilities, and the car's Heritage Certificate clearly listing the first owner. Not often do cars with this level of heritage come to market making this an ideal opportunity to own a car that belonged to one of British motorsports all-time greats.

1969 Jensen Interceptor Mk.I

Lot #309 (Sale Order 9 of 51)

From long-term private ownership. One of only 30 Mk1 examples believed to have survivedAn original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car well maintained by Cropredy Garage Fully restored a few years ago in its original Moorland Peat over Champagne leatherUprated dampers, electronic ignition, high-torque starter, twin fans, S/S exhaust, unleaded head Introduced in 1966, the Interceptor was built in West Bromwich for a period of 10 years and evolved from the original MkI through to the final MkIV, a decade later in 1976. The original MkI is the rarest version as only 923 were built and just 30 are said to survive today. The all steel bodyshell was styled by Carrozzeria Touring in Italy and built by Vignale, arriving in the Midlands to then be paired with the inimitable 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 and automatic transmission. When new it cost substantially more than an Aston Martin and was double the price of an E-Type Jaguar.....This particular car is the rarest and most desirable Series 1 and is a late production model, built just prior to the Series II in 1969.It's an original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car that retains the original engine and gearbox and has recently been maintained by highly respected Jensen Specialists, Cropredy Garage, so is now well sorted. Featuring uprated adjustable dampers, electronic ignition, an uprated alternator, a high torque starter motor, twin cooling fans, a stainless exhaust, and is also modified to run on unleaded fuel.Originally specified in Moorland Peat with a Champagne leather upholstery, as it remains today, the car has benefitted from a full restoration earlier in this decade and has now 'settled' into a car with great patina and presence. There is a photographic record of this restoration in the comprehensive history file which accompanies the car, along with many bills and receipts confirming regular and thorough maintenance.PVC 111G looks, drives, and feels absolutely right and retains that 60's charismatic smell of leather inside the very period looking cockpit. Coming from long-term private ownership, our vendor is a real classic car enthusiast who has enjoyed the journey with this particular car and accordingly we are pleased to bring it to market. A rare opportunity today and viewing is thoroughly recommended.

1993 Ferrari 348 Spider Manual 1993 Ferrari 348 Spider Manual

1993 Ferrari 348 Spider Manual

Lot #310 (Sale Order 10 of 51)

Believed to be one of only 68 official UK RHD SpidersStriking combination of Blue Chiaro paintwork and Crema leather interiorComprehensive history file, original Handbook pack and toolsPresented to auction with a recent service and fresh MoTIn late 1993, the 348 was revised, with a few subtle styling changes (front grille, rear chrome Cavallino, and removable seat cushions), and now boasted 320bhp from the same 3.4-litre engine in F119H-spec with an increased compression ratio (10.8-1), modified camshaft timing, a new exhaust, and a Bosch Motronic 2.7, engine management system. This 1993 348 Spider is indeed one of these later cars and was supplied new by Stratstone Ferrari Wilmslow on 10th November 1993 to its first owner, Mr S Bonar of Altrincham. It's finished in a most elegant colour combination of Blue Chiaro with Crema leather, complemented by blue carpets. The comprehensive history file contains service and maintenance records chronologically filed for reference, and the service book demonstrates a consistent and responsible approach to maintenance and is full to capacity with stamps to the extent that the back cover is now being used to record the details. The service records and handbooks are contained in the original leather wallet The odometer indicates 3,400 miles, however, these cars are notorious for speedo head failure and the documents relating to its replacement suggest that the total mileage is around 51,000, a number corroborated by the older MoT Certificates. It's fitted with a tonneau cover which keeps the folding roof and mechanism neat and tidy when the top is down, and the car will be serviced and freshly MoT'd prior to the saleIt is believed that Ferrari UK only imported 68 right-hand drive Spiders making this a very rare car, particularly in such a delightful colour combination. The outstanding condition of this beautiful Ferrari is certainly commensurate with the impeccable service history, all of it suggesting caring ownership, and once viewed, it will be difficult to resist the joy of open-top touring with that glorious V8 soundtrack in the background

1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III

1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III

Lot #311 (Sale Order 11 of 51)

A sprightly performer.with the stalwart 6.2-litre,all-alloy V8 and less weight than the Cloud IIClassically finished in Shell over Tudor grey with a Grey hide interiorVery smart paintwork, the arches and sills appear rust free, and the chrome work is bright Matching numbers. Engine rebuilt in 2005 and the gearbox in 2008. Recently servicedIt retains its original tools, jack and spare, and even has the spare wheel steel coverOriginal owner's manual, factory build sheets, ownership records, workshop manual, engine & gearbox rebuild invoices The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, introduced in 1963, was the final development of the Silver Cloud line first offered in 1955 and was regarded by many as the finest in the company's history. Rolls Royce obviously felt the same way as the III was proudly advertised as "The Best Car in the World". Powered by the same stalwart 6.2-litre,all-alloy V8 that powered the Cloud II, but with a bit more power and a little less weight the Cloud III was a sprightly performer. With its smooth and efficient power plant, aristocratic looks, and majestic presence, the Cloud III would become the first choice for prominent and successful people and 3431 TJ is no exception with its first registered owner being one Fred Dawes Esq. - the man behind Radio Rentals and Rumbelows which was the largest electrical retail group in the world at the time. Two-tone colour schemes were common throughout the 30s, 50s and 60s, manufacturers believing that a somewhat slab-sided design could be made to look longer, sleeker and subliminally faster by contrasting colours and, appropriately, the Cloud here is finished in Shell over Tudor grey with a Grey hide interior and presents in its original condition throughout. We understand that it's been kept inside for most of its life in a specially heated garage which would explain why the paintwork is very smart and clean, the arches and sills appear rust free, and the chrome work is stunning and bright with only a little pitting limited to the handles and rear number plate light unit. This particular example benefits from an unusual chrome beltline curving along its front wings and front doors, an option that is rarely seen but really enhances the car's curves beautifully and adds a touch of style. The interior hide is in a lovely patinated condition with no tears or rip, but would benefit from a re-colour, and the Burr Walnut woodwork is beautiful and free of any splits, sun or water damage. It's being sold with a number of original custom features including whitewall tyres, electric window controls, side-view mirrors mounted on the 'A' pillars, special adjustable front seats, the sixties-style radio and manual roof aerial, rear footrests, and beautifully figured walnut picnic trays. This is a 'matching numbers' car with its original engine and gearbox. The engine apparently runs superbly having been rebuilt in 2005 and the automatic gearbox was rebuilt some three years later. The brakes were recently overhauled as was the power steering and are in excellent order. The car is fitted with an electronic ignition upgrade, a new battery, and was recently serviced with an MoT valid until June 2019. It retains its original tools, jack and spare, and even has the spare wheel steel cover. It's offered with a part service history which doesn't matter much as everything else is there including the owner's manual, the factory build sheets, ownership records, workshop manual, original brochure, bills for the engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild, past MoTs, 2 keys, RREC annuals, and old photos etc The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was the last of its series and indeed was the last production Rolls-Royce to retain a conventional chassis. This exceptionally original and lovely Silver Cloud III is one of the very rare final series of coachbuilt Rolls-Royces delivered at the end of an era.

1991 Ferrari 348TS Manual 1991 Ferrari 348TS Manual

1991 Ferrari 348TS Manual

Lot #312 (Sale Order 12 of 51)

UK Supplied RHD presented in the classic Ferrari colour combinationRecent Service, MoT and Cam Belt replacement Current indicated mileage is 39,800. Comprehensive history file. Complete with the original leather wallet containing Service Book & Instruction ManualsAn emerging classic offered at an attractive guide price First seen in prototype form in 1987, the Ferrari 348 entered production in 1989, replacing the popular and successful 328GTB/GTS. It was to be the last design under the supervision of legendary chief stylist Leonardo Fioravanti, and a lot of the styling cues came from the Testarossa, particularly the side strakes, however, its forms were softer than those of the 328 but still curvaceous, and with a longer wheelbase and wider track the interior had a bit more space. Although mid-engined, as was its predecessor, the 348 differed by mounting its four-valves-per-cylinder, quad-cam V8 3.4-litre engine longitudinally, enabling it to be positioned lower in the chassis. A further development was the introduction of a transversely mounted five-speed gearbox using innovative technology derived from the company's Formula 1 program. This meant that the transmission was mounted deeper in the chassis and consequently lowered the centre of gravity which has a beneficial effect on handling and road holding. Initially typed 'TB' and 'TS (Transversale Berlinetta and Transversale Spider) the 348 reverted to Ferrari's traditional nomenclature partway through production. With its aerodynamic skirts, spoilers, a wheel at each corner, and distinctive gill slots feeding air to side-mounted radiators, the stocky 348 looked very much like a scaled-down Testarossa and, with around 300bhp on tap and a top speed of 170mph, gave little away in terms of outright performance to its larger, 12-cylinder sibling. This particular 348ts is a UK, right-hand drive, manual gearbox car finished in the classic Ferrari colour combination of Rosso Corsa with Crema leather complemented by Rosso carpets, and was initially supplied by JCT 600 of Bradford. Presented in truly stunning condition and looking showroom fresh, this is one of the best 348 Targa we have seen. It has patently been meticulously maintained and enthusiastically cared for since being delivered to its first custodian on 11th March 1991. The accompanying original service book lists the attention from the first 1,000-mile service in April 1991 right up to the most recent service and cambelt change which was completed in September 2018. Additionally, this fantastic 348ts is also accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing previous MoTs and scheduled maintenance invoices demonstrating the many thousands of pounds that have been spent on this car during its cosseted life including a new clutch and replacement flywheel at 37,000 miles. In addition to the 'showroom new' paint finish, it has benefited from the roof being colour coded (usually finished matt black) in Rosso Corsa providing a cleaner, more modern look. The odometer currently indicates 39,800 miles and the car is being offered freshly serviced, with new cambelts and a shiny new MoT.Undoubtedly this 348ts is an emerging classic and represents an ideal investment opportunity when presented in such fantastic condition and at such an attractive price guide.

A rare, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 4.7-litre Indy with Borg-Warner automatic transmissionOne of around 50 examples and showing some 48,500 milesExtensively restored between 2013 to 2016, fully detailed in the history file with expenditure in excess of £23,000The dramatic Vignale coachwork is complemented by the Nautilus Blue paintwork and tan leather interiorPurchased in 2012 by one of the most influential figures in 21st century British cultureAttractively and competitively guided considering this Italian Grand Tourer's rarity and desirability Named to commemorate Maserati's two victories at the Indianapolis 500, the Maserati Indy (Tipo 116) first appeared in 1968, at the Salone dell'Automobile di Torino as a prototype by Carrozzeria Vignale. The production model was launched by Maserati at the Geneva Motor Show the following March as a comfortable four-seat Grand Tourer with good luggage space and a top speed in excess of 150 mph. For the 1970-72 model years, the Indy was offered with a 4.7-litre, 290bhp, V8 engine, fitted with power steering and air conditioning as standard, with the intention of capturing the US market and these later cars were billed as the "America".Maserati was a low-volume manufacturer and Indys were only made to order. With only 1,136 cars being built in all forms. It's believed that less than fifty 4.7 Americas were produced in right-hand drive for the UK market, making this grand tourer a rare car. First registered on the 16th August 1971, this very smart Indy was delivered with the smooth 3-Speed Borg Warner automatic gearbox, power steering, and the well-appointed leather interior was fitted with air conditioning. It's easy to imagine this elegant coupe purring discreetly up to the entrance of Annabel's or galloping across country to a Cotswold house party for the weekend.Purchased by our vendor on the 10th August 2012 and subsequently registered in her Chief Executive's name in 2013, the car was treated to a sympathetic but through mechanical and cosmetic restoration. Briefly, the sheaf of receipts on file show a new exhaust, attention to the engine, gearbox, electrics, leather interior when the mechanical work was finished, the Maserati was refinished in a sophisticated shade of Nautilus Blue. The bills on file, copies of which can be emailed to any prospective purchaser, amount to some £23,000. The odometer showed 48,362 miles at the time of consignment and the MOT is due for renewal in November 2018, although it is exempt from both the test and road tax.Our vendor, a doyenne of British culture and design for the last five decades and awarded a Dame Commander of the Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of this, has expressed a desire to remain anonymous. We shall, of course, disclose all pertinent information to seriously interested parties. To conclude, therefore, the Indy has always offered style and pace and the work of Carrozzeria Vignale has stood the test of time well. Offered at a competitive guide price compared to its early 1970's contemporaries such as the Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari 365 GTC, and Lamborghini Espada, this lovely Maserati, from celebrity ownership, represents a rare opportunity.

1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4

1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4

Lot #314 (Sale Order 14 of 51)

Resplendent in Magenta with an unmarked Grey Cloth Recaro interior Believed to be one of the first few 4 x 4 variants registered Truly just one lady owner from new and 13,310 milesSupplied with the supplying dealer book packs, every tax disc and MoT Certificate A once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a special carThe original Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the first Ford to wear the Cosworth badge and was introduced at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show as a means of homologating the Sierra for 'Group A' Touring Car racing. These regulations dictated that a minimum of 5,000 were built and sold and eventually, Ford complied with 5,545 finding homes. Based on the three-door Sierra body shell, it was designed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) and was powered by a Cosworth-designed 2.0-litre turbo engine of now legendary repute. The RS Cosworth used a 204bhp 2.0 litre DOHC engine with a Garret T3 turbocharger and intercooler enabling it to reach 62mph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. In 1986, the Sierra Cosworth was a new kind of performance car - a blue-collar hero able to humble true sports cars.In January 1990, the third generation Sierra RS Cosworth was launched, this time with four-wheel drive. As early as 1987, Mike Moreton and Ford Motorsport had been talking about a four-wheel drive Sierra RS Cosworth that could make Ford competitive in the World Rally Championship. Ford Motorsport's desire for a 3-door "Motorsport Special" equivalent to the original Sierra RS Cosworth was not embraced. The more discreet 4-door version was considered to have a better marketing potential and it was therefore decided that the new car should be a natural development of the second generation, to be launched in conjunction with the facelift scheduled for the entire Sierra line in 1990.H28 AMK was registered on the 1st of August to a lady in Essex who still owns the car to this day. The Cosworth was ordered in April 1990, with an expected on-the-road date of the 1st of August, and was supplied by Gates of Harlow, the local Ford dealer. The car was ordered in Magenta with a Grey Cloth Recaro interior and is believed to be one of the first six 4 x 4 models made available through the Ford network. Today, this extraordinary RS has travelled a mere 13,310 miles in the hands of its owner who is now 80 and has decided to hang up her driving gloves. She has, however, been fastidious in keeping the car's history safe and has all the old tax discs through to the last one in 2015 when they ceased being issued along with every MoT barring 2017 when it was garaged. The car has all of its original dealer book pack along with the original order and the invoice indicating a whopping £23,000 which, for 1990, was a considerable sum. Also supplied with the car are two unused lumber support pads (still bagged) which were an accessory for the Recaro seats. There is a certificate detailing a Category 2 Alarm and immobilizer fitted in 2001, again all receipted, to protect their investment. The car had its first service at Gates in November 1990 at 2,241 miles and from there on our vendor's husband, a competent engineer, maintained the vehicle with regards to engine, gearbox and differential oil changes together with other fluids when needed. Gates of Harlow, however, did the first cambelt change on the 22nd of July, 2003 at 12,501 miles, with Rally Tec Cosworth Specialists undertaking the last change at 13,304 miles on the 9th of August 2018. At that point, the car was treated to a thorough recommissioning in readiness for the imminent sale with £5,000 spent to make sure that it was 'on the button'.This Sapphire is a rare car and essentially unmolested. It still sports its original exhaust which is unusual as the OEM ones are just not available and most have been replaced by " bean cans". New tyres have been fitted and they are the proper factory specification items adding to the car's sense of originality. AMK is a car for the serious collector and rarely do cars with this provenance come to market, making it very special indeed.

Very special, right-hand drive, Series I Exige fitted with 190 BHP Rover K-series 'de-cat' The Series 1 Exige is not a common sight on UK roads, only around 100 exist today30,000 miles. 3 owners.Extensive history file. Both keys, all manuals, original radioSubject to much recent expenditure. Bare fibreglass respray. Re-trim in original leatherEngine rebuilt to original spec. Chassis cleaned. New brake system all round. Lots more Despite the fact that it enjoyed critical acclaim, the Series 1 Exige is not a common sight on UK roads. Reportedly 604 were built between 2000-2001 and of those 177 were left-hand drive. Track day attrition and over exuberance have reduced these numbers significantly so it appears that only around 100 exist today. A lot of these cars were modified in certain ways including engine transplants so finding cars that are totally original, has become difficult. This, very special, right-hand drive, Series I Exige has covered 30,000 miles in the hands of its three owners and is the desirable 190 BHP Rover K-series 'de-cat' version. Accompanying this rare car is an extensive history file along with both keys, all its manuals, and the original radio. Our vendor has owned this lovely Lotus for the past three years and twelve months ago decided to recommission the car in order to bring it up to his exacting standards. Expenditure lavished on the car included the following:Bare fibreglass respray in Silver, new factory decals, New Factory glass engine cover (last one in existence)Chassis cleaned.Interior re-trim in original leatherNew brake system all round including pipes, discs, pads and master cylinderNew wheel bearingsAll suspension shot blasted and powder coated (original components no copies)All new Nylatron bushes to OE specAll new ball joints and toe linksNew BR racing shock- absorbers (originals with the car), the only non-OE part as OE shocks are considered very poor. 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider (manual) 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider (manual)

1998 Ferrari F355 Spider (manual)

Lot #316 (Sale Order 16 of 51)

Beautifully presented, left-hand drive, manual gearbox, F355 Spider finished in Giallo ModenaImported into the UK from California by our vendor and is supplied with a current MoT Maintained by Newport Beach Ferrari in Orange County. Most recent work engine-out cambelt service Complete with its Ferrari toolkit, bespoke car cover, USA number plates, and service historyLovely low mileage Spider with recent belts and very realistically guided The Ferrari F355 is a modern classic, so beautiful, so well-engineered and so well received that it marked the beginning of the end of the old-guard 'Ferraristi' philosophy that the only "real" Ferraris were ones with 12-cylinder engines. The Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and Targa GTS burst onto the world stage in the spring of 1994. It had almost exactly the same dimensions as its predecessor the 348, yet it was virtually a new car, as its stunning coachwork indicated. Many hours of wind tunnel testing influenced the harmonious shape which incorporated an F1 style flat bottom with an air flow channel that generated enough down-force to offset any lift. The longitudinally mounted 3496cc V8 had a stunning 380 horsepower at a spine-tingling 8250 rpm. The gearbox now had six speeds with a new type of synchromesh that made it much easier to shift. New electronically adjustable shock absorbers varied their stiffness within milliseconds to suit the road surface. Around Ferrari's 1.86 mile Fiorano test track the 355 was two seconds a lap faster than the 12-cylinder 512 TR; that level of performance combined with its sensational shape made it a worldwide success story. The F355 Spider (most of us like Italian convertibles to be called Spyder, however, Ferrari have always insisted on Spider) debuted in 1995, its Pininfarina-penned lines honed by even more hours in the wind tunnel. To make up for the lack of a roof and the associated loss of torsional rigidity, the 355's structure was cleverly strengthened without making the Spider any heavier than the Berlinetta. Pininfarina are very experienced in designing convertible roofs for other manufacturers and their efforts here have resulted in a blend of elegant style and aerodynamic performance. For the first time in a Ferrari, the semi-automatic soft-top was powered electronically. Initially, the Spider was fitted with the 6-speed manual transmission, prior to being offered with. the F1 transmission, however, over time, it's become accepted that the manual box is that much more satisfying to use.Offered here is a beautifully presented, left-hand drive, manual gearbox, F355 Spider finished in Giallo Modena over Nero leather. It was originally shipped new from sunny Italy to sunny Florida and sometime later found its way California and was looked after there by Newport Beach Ferrari in Orange County California and the service records indicate that they continued to look after the car until its export to the UK. The history file contains a comprehensive record of all service work but, most importantly, a major service including all belts was conducted only seven hundred miles ago in December 2016 by Veloce Motorsports of California. This included a 30,000-mile service which involved removal and disassembly of the engine to replace timing belts, auxiliary belts, tensioners and bearings. The cooling system hoses, gaskets and o-rings were all changed, the gearbox oil and the brake system fluids were drained, and both the clutch pressure plate and disc were replaced. The indicated mileage is 22,798 and the car has a very original feel even retaining the factory stickers. It comes complete with its Ferrari toolkit, bespoke car cover, USA number plates, and service history. It was imported into the UK by our vendor and is supplied with a current MoT valid until 30-4-2019.This lovely low mileage Spider looks really cool in yellow and is very realistically guided given today's market.

1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot #317 (Sale Order 17 of 51)

'660065' is the 65th right-hand-drive roadster built and only the 5th steel-bodied example. All matching numbers with Hollywood celebrity provenance. Fully restored with over £150,000 spent. Unusual features fastidiously retained Recently serviced by CKL Developments The Jaguar Drivers Club has rated 'RPM 89' as 'excellent' in every category. A car-starved Britain, still trundling around in perpendicular pre-war hangover vehicles, glimpsed the future in October 1948 with the launch of the Jaguar XK120 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Production commenced in 1949 in Coventry, and the XK's swoopy shape and stylish occupants would become a common sight on British roads over the next fifteen years. It heralded the arrival of Jaguar's famous 3.4-litre twin overhead camshaft XK engine, (the basis of all their engines for the next 25 years) with an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draught SU carburettors producing nearly 160bhp. The “120” referred to the car's top speed which, at the time, made it the fastest production car in the world. Jaguar seems to have always had a flair for marketing and to illustrate that the car's top speed was not a figment of a publicist's imagination, in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute, an XK120l with its hood and side screens in place recorded a speed of 126mph, and no less than 132mph with the hood and windscreen detached and an undertray fitted. The car was in almost instant demand and it caught Jaguar by surprise. The first 240 examples retained coachbuilt aluminium bodies before pressed steel, which was less labour-intensive, took over.Chassis number '660065' is the 65th right-hand-drive roadster completed, only the 5th steel-bodied example, and with so many rare early features, might even be regarded as a prototype. For example the chassis plate, probably nickel plated originally but now polished back to brass, shows large valve clearances of 0.012" and 0.015", which were reduced on later cars. Another interesting feature is the engine number's compression ratio suffix; Jaguar evidently thought it would be 7:1 (common on cars destined for export) then over-stamped the '7' with an '8' before completion. As a very early car, '660065' lacks the cockpit cooling vents in the front wings that were adopted soon after it was made. The engine too has all the correct early features including the 'studless' cam covers and needlessly lengthy plug leads. The latter travel from the distributor, down the side of the cylinder block, up the rear of the cylinder head, and then all the way back to the front of the engine again. This makes them around two metres in length! Jaguar soon recognised the wisdom of taking the leads from the distributor straight over the cylinder head. Another distinctive under-bonnet feature is the so-called 'stovepipe' SU carburettors, which have unnecessarily tall dash-pots. Later XK120s had noticeably lower and more practical ones. Also worthy of note is the beautiful cast-aluminium radiator fan, an expensive-to-produce item that was soon superseded by a cheaper pressed steel alternative. Another expensive feature is the hood frame: fully chromed on this early model but painted Grey/Green on later cars. Inside the cockpit, the indicator switch is noticeable by its absence; these would soon become standard but were not fitted to early cars such as this one. '660065' also retains the rare and often missing 'Owl's Eye' cigarette lighter. This XK120 was first owned in California, USA by actor Allan Jones, the father of talented evergreen jazz singer Jack Jones. Allan Jones is probably best remembered for his roles in the movies 'Firefly', 'Show Boat', and the Marx Brothers' 'A Night at the Opera' and 'A Day at the Races' and his wife, Irene Harvey, an MGM Starlet featured in numerous films over many years. The glamorous couple were regularly to be seen in Hollywood in this stylish XK120 and no doubt son Jack, who would have been 12 when the car was delivered, enjoyed trips with his dad. The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate reveals that '660065' was built as an open two-seater with right-hand drive and supplied for 'Personal Export Delivery'. The first owner is recorded as 'A Jones' and the original colour scheme as Pastel Blue with a Red interior and Fawn soft-top. The original registration was 'RPM 89'.The immediately preceding owner acquired the XK in 1988 and in 1999 had the car restored with due respect for its provenance and importance by renowned marque specialist Lynx Motors International Ltd, using many parts supplied by Guy Broad. Over £150,000 was spent to make the XK as good as, if not better than, the day it left the Brown's Lane factory. The Jaguar Drivers Club has rated 'RPM 89' as 'excellent' in every category, with a general comment of a “very high-quality restoration”. All receipts relating to the restoration are available. In more recent years 'RPM 89' has benefited from a thorough and extensive service car

2010 Maserati GranCabrio Automatic 2010 Maserati GranCabrio Automatic

2010 Maserati GranCabrio Automatic

Lot #318 (Sale Order 18 of 51)

Full Maserati service history and last serviced in February 2018450bhp@7000rpm. Six-speed multi-mode automatic transmissionStriking looks, four seats. 0-60 in 5 secs whilst getting a suntan at the same timeOnly 25,406 miles from new. Sophisticated colour combination Looks tremendous value at this guideThe last convertible produced by Maserati prior to the GranCabrio was the Spyder which was based on the 2001 Coupé and had just two seats. However, when it comes to four-seat cabriolets we have to go back to the 1930s when two coachbuilding firms, the Italian firm Castagna and Briitish company RAG Patents both used Maserati's 26M as the starting point for their classic coachbuilt dropheads. So officially, this is the first time that Maserati, a company that has a rich heritage in glorious open-top cars, has produced a four-seat convertible. In 2010, however, with the launch of the GranCabrio, it was again possible to enjoy the delights of open-top Maserati motoring with the Sun shining on four facesInspired by the dramatic GranTurismo, the Maserati GranCabrio is a lithe convertible carefully crafted by Pininfarina, the master coachbuilder, and the attention to detail is evident in the chrome accents and state of the art LED light clusters. From the side, the lower ground clearance and elongated bonnet give the car an agile look and it has an aerodynamic shape with a bold sweeping 'V' shape towards the front. Motive power comes from a 4.7-litre V8 producing 450bhp at 7,000rpm and offering 0-60 in 5 seconds, pretty impressive for a car of this size seating four adults. The six-speed ZF automatic transmission and built-in hydraulic torque converter keep gear changes seamless and there are four mode settings for the transmission This, one former keeper, GranCabrio was first registered in April 2010 and comes with a full Maserati main dealer service history having been most recently serviced in February this year at 20,800 miles. The car has now covered 25,400 miles and servicing is every two years so there is plenty of time to enjoy this Maserati before the next service is due.Ordered in Grigio Alfieri, (a metallic grey named after Alfieri Maserati) with Avorio leather and a contrasting beige hood, the colour combination looks stunning. It comes with all the right options including electric heated memory seats, electric steering, Bose hi-fi system, satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and 20-inch alloy wheels.A beautiful looking cabriolet with one of the best soundtracks of any car, and in common with many exotic cars of this nature has suffered a bit of depreciation and looks fabulous value today.

1991 BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution 1991 BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution

1991 BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution

Lot #319 (Sale Order 19 of 51)

First registered in the UK on 23rd April 1991 to F1 race director Charlie Whiting with known ownership sinceFeaturing the largest engine fitted to the E30 M3, the 2.5l mated to the 5-speed Getrag manualThe car has covered 247,000 km (154,000 miles) and has been faultlessly maintained, with a fresh service and MOTPresented with a history file bursting with receipts. The service book shows an incredible 36 stampsThe final Evolution of the best version of the DTM-era E30 and one of only 600 examples produced. One of the quintessentially Eighties saloon cars, the E30 BMW appealed to a huge cross-section of buyers For those who wanted power, handling and the convenience of four seats the clean lines of this left-hand-drive only, wide-arched, bespoilered M3 was the ultimate attraction. For those in the know, the E30 M3 to have was one of the DTM variants, produced in limited numbers to comply with 'Group A' Touring Car championship rules of the day. Every car manufacturer who participated had to produce a run of road legal cars, and BMW would launch a new limited run of road cars each season. The full-race cars were unbelievably successful, dominating Touring Car racing throughout the World and taking countless titles including the prestigious German, Australian and British series, not to mention the World Touring Car Championship in 1987. The next generation E30 M3 or 'Evolution' model (Evo II) was about as close as you could get to driving a 'Group A' racing-car in 1988. The 'Evo II' was a significant development of the original M3 and was slightly more powerful thanks to a new camshaft, pistons and intake system, and a little more svelte thanks to a lighter flywheel, boot lid, windows and bumpers. The later limited edition 'Sport Evolution' model (referred to as Evo III) increased engine displacement to 2.5-litres and had enlarged front bumper openings and an adjustable multi-position front splitter and rear wing. Brake cooling ducts were also installed in place of the front fog lights. Often described as the most “evolved” of the DTM range the final incarnation Sport Evolution were very different with unique aerodynamically sculpted body panels, increased caster angle through major front suspension changes, and aluminium control arms. They had special front and rear brake calipers and rotors, a special brake master cylinder, and a 'Getrag 265' five-speed gearbox with a limited-slip differential. Only 600 M3 Sport Evolutions were built between 1989 and 1990 and were available in black or red only. With the Western World reeling from a global recession, orders for new performance cars slumped, and it was not uncommon for these cars to take a year or so to find new homes. Many dealers registered the cars in their name to keep “official” sales buoyant, German car dealers being no exception. This very special Sport Evolution received its PDI at BMW Germany on the 20th March 1990 and a service by BMW Germany on the 13th January 1991 at just 115 kilometres. The car was first registered in the UK on the 23rd April 1991 with the private registration “H3 CJW”. This cherished number belongs to Charlie Whiting, a key figure in Formula 1 since the 1970s, initially working with Bernie Ecclestone at Brabham. Mr Whiting currently holds the titles of FIA Formula One Race Director, Safety Delegate, Permanent Starter. and head of the F1 Technical Department, in which capacities he generally manages the logistics of each F1 Grand Prix, inspects cars in parc fermé before a race, enforces FIA rules, and controls the lights that start each race. On the 12th February 1992, the car was registered in the name of Formula One Promotions and Administration Ltd., a subsidiary of the Formula One Group. With Mr Whiting at the wheel, the car was to travel some 126,000 kilometres, looked after twice a year by BMW Heathrow. When a Mr Dennison bought the car in 1996 he kept up the maintenance, servicing the car at a BMW specialist seven times and adding some 69,000 kilometres to the odometer. Specialist Cars of Selby North Yorkshire sold the car to the current private registered keeper a Mr Baker on the 3rd May 1999 for the princely sum of £11,495, with an odometer reading of 195,405 kilometres. Mr Baker drove the car as intended and added some 52,000 kilometres, whilst rigorously maintaining it, and the service records show some eighteen stamps. Within the extensive history file, one's attention is drawn to the service invoice dated 5th February 2014 that includes attention to the car's underside. The under shields were removed, any surface browning treated and the front panel, under bonnet, chassis legs, rear panel, and door cavities were liberally treated with Waxoyl. This work was done at 237,772 kilometres and the car has travelled some 10,000 kilometres since. In 2017, a new exhaust system was fitted at a cost of some £3,000. As it stands today the car's exterior and interior condition belie the c

1967 Ford Mustang 390GT 'Bullitt' Homage

Lot #320 (Sale Order 20 of 51)

15-year restoration and $150,000 of invoices excluding labour575 bhp 410 ci balanced Windsor engine Ford Racing TKO 600 5-Speed manual Front and rear coil over suspension Rack and pinion steeringFinished with a two-stage PPG Urethane paint in Dark Highland GreenAn engineering masterpiece underneathWhenever filmmakers tried to create an exciting car chase action scene, they were hampered by technical limitations like rear-screen projectors that took you out of the scene at the crucial moment. But then 'Bullitt' was released in 1968 with the most realistic depiction of a car chase movie-goers had ever seen. Bullitt essentially did for movie car chases what Star Wars did for science fiction films. That's because, unlike other movies at the time, the stunt driving was all real. There were no cheap rear-screen projections used for the close-up shots of the actors, and none of the scenes were sped up in post-production to heighten the sense of speed. They didn't need to be, because those cars really were barreling through the streets of San Francisco at over 110 mph. There was a sense of danger unlike any movie chase before it as the two muscle cars weaved through traffic and jumped over the hills of San Francisco, while the camera literally put you in the driving seat. The soundtrack is glorious, too - and we don't mean the music soundtrack. Not a word of dialogue is spoken during the 11-minute long sequence. Apart from the scene setting jazz score that does a great job of building tension before the chase erupts in a cloud of tire smoke, there's no music either, allowing you to appreciate the sound of two thunderous V8 muscle cars and their screaming tortured tyres battling it out. Bullitt set the standard for all movie car chases to follow, making it the most iconic and influential chase scene of all time despite the last twenty years of CGI, mainly because it's real and you can go to San Francisco and wonder 'how in the hell did they do that'.Many enthusiasts have dreamed of owning a Mustang just like Steve McQueen's in the movie and worldwide a good number have sourced a '67 or '68, 390GT Fastback Mustang, painted it Highland Green, popped on some Torque-Thrust wheels, and have had a lot of fun.One such young man was Bradley Hunt who, with his brother Jack L Hunt III, are the third generation of the family to run Jack L Hunt Automotive-Sales-Service in San Rafael, California, a large car sales, service and restoration business that had been started by 'Granpappy' back in 1927. He decided it would be fun to create a Bullitt 'homage' and set about the task around 16 years ago and the result is here. This specific car is an original 1967, C-Code, 1967 San Jose produced, 390GT fastback Mustang that has been subject to a long-term, bare metal rotisserie restoration. Preparation of the shell took an age but the benefit of the rotisserie is that it's possible to achieve the same level of finish underneath as on top. When ready, it was finished with a two-stage PPG Urethane paint in Dark Highland Green.Power is delivered by a balanced and blueprinted, 410 ci Windsor 'stroker' with a nett 575hp and 550 ft-lbs of torque mated to a 5-speed Ford Racing TKO gearbox which is rated to 600hp and 600 lbs torque. A Fab-9 posi-trac 9” Ford 3.9-1 differential does a good job of transferring that prodigious output cleanly to the 17” American Racing Wheels 'Torque-Thrust D with custom offset', which are absolutely the right wheels for a modified '67 Mustang. To keep the car going in the right direction, be it sideways or straight, front and rear coil-over suspension has been engineered and rack and pinion steering installed using Total Control Products. Uprated front and rear disc brakes with 6-pot calipers and a 'Willwood 'master cylinder with piggyback proportioning valves and steel brake hoses deal with the retardation and, we understand, cope well with the large (occasionally very large) numbers involved.Any inspection underneath will reveal, not only the cleanest, shiniest set of mechanicals you have ever seen on a used car but some serious engineering solutions to steering, braking and geometry. Whoever built this car knew what they were doingCustom leather sports seats, a Shelby roll-bar, and Auto Motor Sport-Comp gauges finish the interior to an excellent standard.Full build details can be found in the history file along with an invoice for in excess of $150,000 for parts and components alone without a charge for labour, a frightening prospect considering the whole project took a reported 15 years. Supplied with a NOVA number and a valid MoT, this engineering masterpiece is ready for UK registration.Whether this was supposed to be an inch-perfect recreation of McQueen's film car or a superb homage to the Bullitt car using more modern tech is not clear, but one thing is for sure - this is one heck of a lot of shiny Highland Green, 575bhp, big-wheeled, ballistic Mustang.

1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster

1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster

Lot #321 (Sale Order 21 of 51)

Just three owners. Current one for 31-yearsGround up, nut and bolt restoration by XK Engineering restoration completed in 1992. Chrome/stainless wiresFitted with Martin Robey 'System Three' monocoque, bonnet, boot lid and doors. Stainless steel exhaust 4.2 gearbox, servo assisted 4.2 brakes, Kenlowe fan, electronic ignition, and a semi-sealed cooling system 5670 HJ is as nice a Series 1 as you'll find With Jaguar's racing successes in the 1950s still fresh in the memory, it's no wonder the E-Type captured the hearts and minds of a patriotic public at launch, and if all E-Types wore their years as well as the car offered here, it's easy to understand why that affection continues today. The Series I, as it later became known, was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961, and UK cars began to appear in showrooms some four months later in early July. Just as in their world-beating D-Types, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular spaceframe extended forwards to support the engine. The cars were initially fitted with the triple SU carburetted, 3.8-litre, six-cylinder Jaguar XK6 engine from the XK150S mated to a Moss (EB) 4-speed gearbox. Developed from that of the original XK120 sports car and refined in the racing D-Type, the double-wishbone, independent front suspension was mounted on the forward subframe. At the rear, the E-Type's suspension broke new ground for a large-capacity sports car, being independent at a time when most of its major rivals relied on the traditional live rear axle. Dunlop disc brakes were fitted to all four wheels; those at the rear being mounted inboard alongside the differential to reduce un-sprung weight. With a claimed 265 horsepower available, the E-Type's performance furthered the standards set by the preceding XK models, partly because it weighed around 500lbs less than the XK150 but mainly because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used the experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor car.The car's Heritage Certificate tells us that this lovely, right-hand drive, E-Type Roadster left the production line on 29th June 1962, finished in Carmen Red with Red trim and a Black soft top, and bound for Henlys of London. In addition, the 'green' Log Book tells us that it was first registered on the 29th August of that year and the car's lucky first owner was a John Stephen Hinely in the lovely Devon town of Brixham. One more owner followed Mr Hinely before 5679 HJ began the second half of its life some 31 years ago on May 19th 1987 when it was purchased by our vendor. He made the decision that he was going to keep the car for the foreseeable future and a full restoration was in order. In 1987, it was entrusted to Martin Robey Engineering Ltd.who for many years have been acknowledged as the major player in the manufacture and supply of parts for Classic Jaguars. Their unique body building facility for E-Type Jaguars is world renowned and they have been responsible for the restoration of some very important E-Types including 77 RW (the first production E-Type) and HDU 555N (the last car ever), both on behalf of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT). A "System Three" rebuild was chosen and this included a completely new Monocoque (body shell), new bonnet, boot lid and doors. A new bulkhead is normally part of a System Three build but in this case, our vendor chose, in the interest of originality, to utilise the existing bulkhead and engine frames and these were shot blasted and prepared for reassembly. The car was then transferred to XK Engineering in Coventry to work their legendary magic and complete the restoration. There is an invoice in the file from Coventry Engine Components for pistons and liners so presumably, the engine benefitted from a top-end rebuild at the same time.Mechanical/electrical upgrades to E-types are the norm these days and in fact, often enhance the value. 5679 HJ has been fitted with a later 4.2 gearbox, servo assisted 4.2 brakes, a Kenlowe fan, electronic ignition, a semi-sealed cooling system, external fuel pump, stainless steel exhaust, and chrome/stainless wire wheels. It was then superbly painted in the original Carmen Red, fully retrimmed in Black with Red piping, and fitted with a new Mohair hood. It was Waxoyled underneath before being returned to our delighted vendor. There is a photograph album with the car full of images of the rebuild. Our caring vendor insists that, since its return from restoration, he has never used it on salty roads and only taken it out on sunny days. The speedometer failed in 2006 and was recalibrated and currently reads 10,334 miles. There is a bespoke dust cover with the Jaguar and the car is accompanied by the old 'green' Log Book, current V5, the Heritage Certificate, previous MoTs, lots of photos, a number of invoices totalling many thousands of pounds, various spares, a hide 'knock-off' hammer, and a fresh MoT.5670 HJ is

2006 Ford GT 2006 Ford GT

2006 Ford GT

Lot #323 (Sale Order 23 of 51)

This very special Ford GT is one of only 27 UK-supplied carsPowered by a mid-mounted, hand-built, supercharged, quad-cam, 550bhp V8, the Ford GT delivers outstanding power and performanceEvocative colour combination of white with racing blue stripesOnly 5,000 miles from new. Most recent service carried out by Ford GT specialists, GT101, 250 miles ago.In Ford Motor Company's long and hugely successful history in motorsport, few events are as memorable and important as their GT40's four consecutive overall victories at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. The impetus to build Le Mans cars to compete with Ferrari undoubtedly stemmed from their Henry Ford II's failed attempts to acquire the Modena firm and an understandably frustrated Ford enlisted Eric Broadley, John Wyer and later, Carroll Shelby to build a racing car with one clear mission: to beat Ferrari at Le Mans. With their goals set high and ultimately achieved, the GT40 became the most successful and latterly iconic 'underdog' in Le Mans history.Arriving in prototype form, just in time for Ford's Centennial celebrations in 2003, the new Ford GT was a little larger than its predecessor and borrowed heavily from the stunning design and profile of the GT40. It was tasked with a similar mission: to compete with, and surpass, the established European 'supercars'.The ultra-high performance Ford GT showcases the finest in advanced technologies, constructed on a lightweight aluminium chassis clothed in superplastic-formed lightweight composite and aluminium body panels. Powered by a mid-mounted, hand-built, supercharged quad-cam 550bhp V8 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transaxle and featuring racing-derived suspension and braking systems, the GT is hugely powerful and delivers astounding performance. It can accelerate from 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds, hurtling on to some 205mph before the speed limiter kicks in. When production ceased in 2006, with just over 4,000 Ford GTs produced and only 101 delivered new to Europe, this epic Ford had made its mark on automotive history once again - and became an instant collector's car. This very special Ford GT is one of only 27 UK-delivered examples and is finished in the evocative colour combination of white with the racing blue stripe. Purchased by our private vendor in 2014, this car has only covered just over 5,000 miles from new, only just over 250 of these since its last service by marque specialist, GT101. GT101 have, in fact, carried out the last two services on the car and the tyres were fitted only 2,300 miles ago. This very special and rare example is in superb condition and, we understand, is original with no modifications or upgrades. Enjoyed by our passionate vendor for the past four years, including memorable trips to Le Mans, this dramatic motor car is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner with many more miles of loud and fun motoring. Given its inimitable heritage, prolific performance, stunning design, and the thrilling driving experience, the Ford GT is a very special creation that will undoubtedly be revered for many years to come.

1973 Jaguar E-Type Series lll V12 Roadster (manual)

Lot #324 (Sale Order 24 of 51)

Superb, 5.3-litre V12 Roadster with a manual gearbox Despatched to New York in March 1973 finished in BRG over BlackCarefully restored by experienced Derbyshire Jaguar specialists 'Watjag'Converted to right-hand drive during the restorationBelieved to be matching-numbers. Jaguar Heritage Certificate A decade after the original Jaguar E-Type arrived, the design progressively matured through 1971 with the introduction of the Series III. Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5.3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series III cars were available as a 'Roadster' (convertible) or a '2+2' Coupé. The Series III is easily identifiable by its large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips, and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It also featured uprated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling. The interior was entirely new in the V12, with more comfortable seating, stylish new door panels and a smaller, dished and leather-rimmed steering wheel. Being slightly larger and altogether much softer in nature, the E-Type in Series III form had lost the wildness of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile, to which it was arguably better suited. Approximately 7,990 Series III Roadsters were sold worldwide before production ceased in 1975.The car presented here is a 1973 Jaguar E-Type Slll V12 Roadster with the desirable manual gearbox. The car is believed to be a matching numbers example and has recently been fully restored in the UK by long-term Jaguar specialists David Watson Jaguar Restorations, 'Watjag' in Derbyshire. It is now in absolutely splendid condition, looking fabulous in its original factory colour combination of British Racing Green paintwork with Black leather, and is said to drive very well. According to its accompanying Heritage Certificate, the car was delivered new via British Leyland in New York and remained in the US until our vendor oversaw its importation and renewal in the UK. The car has come from a significant private collection of British cars stored in Florida, collated by a US enthusiast who is a good contact of our vendor. We understand that prior to its restoration, the car was very solid and complete, and the strength and performance of the engine suggest that the indicated mileage of circa 30,000 miles may well be correct (but is not warranted). During the restoration, the Jaguar was converted to right-hand drive and fitted with a number of subtle upgrades such as electronic ignition. A huge amount of work has gone into preparing this Series III and the details of the restoration are too extensive to list here but a full list will accompany the car. The quality of the work carried out is evident from the photographs, this is a very impressive motor car.For many years, the Series III lagged behind its elder siblings in terms of desirability but no more. Buyers are recognising that there is a lot to recommend the big V12, especially in Roadster form with a manual gearbox, and finding a decent example at a sensible price is getting harder. This is a great opportunity to acquire a well-restored car that is ready to drive and enjoy.

1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1

1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1

Lot #325 (Sale Order 25 of 51)

A 2nd.Generation Mach 1 smartly finished in Diamond White over BlackFeatures a 351ci /5.8-litre, 240bhp V8 engineHas both a rear exhaust and a side exit exhaust for maximum effectSupplied with a Driver's Manual, a UK V5c, and MoT valid until 7th August 2019 Introduced in 1968 as a package for the '69 model year, the Mach1 was a performance and styling enhancement to the standard Mustang. As the competition between 'Pony Car' manufacturers escalated, the Mustang's engine bay was redesigned and evolved to accommodate even larger engine blocks. Late into 1968, the 428 cu.in. Cobra Jet FE engine was shoehorned into a range of GT Mustangs, but it was felt that to fully conjure up images of unimaginable performance, a new name would be necessary, hence the introduction of the 'Mach 1' (Speed of Sound) title. The original recipe was simple, a large engine, a 'Sportsroof' body with bonnet scoop in matt finish, better suspension, chromed petrol filler cap, revised wheels, a new 'deluxe' interior, and optional front and rear spoilers.Offered here is a second generation, 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 finished in Diamond White over a Black interior. The V5c shows the car was first registered in the UK on 4th September '73 and has had seven owners since, leading us to believe it has spent all its life in the UK. It would appear to have been repainted at some point as the bodywork and paint present very well indeed. Turn the key and the 5.8-litre V8 rumbles into life – the car even features a 'loud button' on the key fob – which when pressed activates the side exit exhaust if you really want to cause a stir! Not for 'shrinking violets'.Offered with a 1973 Mustang Drivers Manual, a UK V5c and an MoT until 7th August 2019, this dramatic Mustang is in nice condition both inside and out, and at today's estimate is a great way to join the Pony Club.

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda

Lot #326 (Sale Order 26 of 51)

Left-hand drive, European-spec import from the USSubject to a professional three-year restoration by Barkston RefinishingMedium Blue Metallic with a lovely Parchment interior Believed to be matching-numbers. Manual gearbox. Hard-top Launched at the Geneva Auto Salon in March 1963, the 230SL – or W113 in Mercedes-Benz language – was a very different sort of sporting car from its forebears. Intended as the replacement for the 190SL, the 230SL abandoned its predecessor's four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3-litre fuel-injected six-cylinder SOHC engine. The Paul Bracq-penned body was an all-new, stylish design which became an instant classic. The construction utilised some of the new manufacturing techniques being adopted in the emerging 'S' Class, however, beneath the skin the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring all-round independent suspension, disc front/drum rear brakes, and the choice of a four-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The cabin was classic Mercedes but a bit more 'Sixties' and the car appealed to a younger demographic, a fact that was instantly reflected in Mercedes worldwide sales figures. The W113 SL eventually spanned three engine sizes and remained in production until 1971 with around 49,000 finding homes. These SL models were amongst the most loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors with their timeless looks and neat proportions having never gone out of fashion. The car presented here is a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda (with the desirable and rarer manual gearbox) which has been subject to a recently completed three-year restoration. This left-hand drive, European-spec example spent its life in the US before our vendor imported it and proceeded to oversee its renewal. The car was in storage in the US just prior to being shipped but was complete and in inherently good condition. Our vendor utilised the specialist restoration skills of 'Barkston Refinishing' of Grantham who undertook a full bare-metal refurbishment and mechanical overhaul. It now looks really smart in Medium Blue Metallic (396G), the engine bay is neat and tidy, and the little Mercedes certainly sits well. Whoever is in charge of restoring interiors at Barkston Refinishing can be justly proud of their work as it is simply splendid. The 'Parchment' leather is tight and fresh, the light blue corded carpet fits well, all the cockpit and dashboard chrome work looks excellent, and the white Bakelite steering wheel appears uncracked. The accompanying Mercedes-Benz data-card for the car states it left the factory on the 14th September 1966. It is believed to retain its matching-numbers status, displaying its original/correct engine number (as per its data-card) stamped on the block, plus an original Mercedes-Benz Tauschaggregat plate (with code 127 010 4100) which means, at some point, the engine was either overhauled or replaced with the correct 230SL-type at the factory (as the engine number seen in the block is still as per its data-card, it is more likely that the engine was overhauled). Unfortunately, there is no history from its time in the US, but there are invoices and photos of its restoration, plus a copy of its data-card from Mercedes-Benz. The car is now UK-registered and ready to use. Pagodas have an indefinable 'chic' and seem to generate a real pride of ownership particularly when they look this good. In this condition, at this guide price, and after a few years building up a service history, this could be a very shrewd investment.

1972 Ford Escort RS1600 1972 Ford Escort RS1600

1972 Ford Escort RS1600

Lot #327 (Sale Order 27 of 51)

Very rare genuine RS1600 ground-up restored to an extremely high standardIconic Ford homologation special factory ordered with Le Mans Green paintworkLow survival numbers, road going examples rarely come to marketArguably the most successful rally car of the 1970s, your opportunity to own the legend. The original Ford Escort was introduced at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1968 and soon became a commercial success as an attractive small family saloon. Ford had, for a number of years, used active participation in motor sport as a means of getting their showroom doors swinging on a Monday morning, and the new Escort was to prove no exception. Popular at club level in every discipline of the sport, it was at International level that the name 'Escort' became synonymous with winning. The Ford works team was practically unbeatable in the late 1960s / early 1970s, and arguably, the Escort's greatest victory was in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally being driven by Finnish legend Hannu Mikkola. This result and the ensuing acclaim prompted Ford to produce the famous Escort Mexico (1.6 L 'Kent'-engine) road version in honour of the rally car.One step up from the Mexico, the Escort 'RS1600' was developed using an engine that was essentially a detuned Formula 3 unit designated BDA (Belt Drive 'A' Series). Both the Mexico and RS1600 were built simultaneously at the now famous Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) facility located at the Aveley Plant in South Essex. As well as higher performance engines and sports suspension, these models featured strengthened bodyshells, making them ideal for rallying.Even today, Mark I Escorts are still very popular in the Historic Rally scene with their reputation for a great balance of power and handling, making them true driver's cars. The BDA engine emits a distinctive and appealing 'growl', which can be heard for quite a distance when the vehicle is being driven hard. Estimates suggest that only around 1,137 RS1600s were produced in total. The car offered for sale today was first registered in the UK on 11th February 1972 and was purchased by the current owner to form part of his collection. The speedometer is reading 3,525, which we believe is the total mileage covered since this car underwent a ground-up restoration. The history file contains invoices from renowned marque expert Andy Stapley Motorsport who has been looking after the Escort's welfare.According to a number of sources, we understand there are less than 50 RS1600s registered or on SORN in the UK with the vast majority of these having been extensively raced, rallied, exported, or just lived a hard life and. as a result, it is very unusual to find a road car finished to such a high standard. The Le Mans Green paintwork is superb with excellent shut lines and has been completed to a very high standard. The interior is completely standard and correct, and the engine bay is spotless. This immaculate, 1972, RS1600 sits 'all-square' and presents really well in its period-correct, bright green. It's 'on the button', has a fresh MoT and is crying out to be used.

A 1983 CX500 Custom, Water cooled, Shaft drive, 5-speedCompletely stripped and a full nut and bolt rebuild. Only 300 miles since. Fresh MoTFrame, forks, tank and panels stripped to bare metal, repainted and coated Engine overhaul, carbs serviced, new suspension, complete brake rebuild, complete rewire Bespoke stainless steel exhaust with black mufflers, specially built spoked wheels with Metz tyres Honda took a different design direction in the late seventies with the arrival of the CX-Series with many innovative features that seemed a bit brave for a mass manufacturer. The 497cc 'Twisted-Twin' produced around 50bhp and sat on top of a five-speed gearbox with shaft-drive to the rear wheel. It was water-cooled with dual CV-type carburettors that were tuned for reduced emissions and starting was electric only, but sensibly the electronic ignition was separate from the rest of the electrical system, enabling the motorcycle to be push-started and ridden in case of total electrical failure. The 1978 CX500 Standard had a large fuel tank, stepped seat, a round brake fluid reservoir and a plastic mini-fairing that was thought to look unusual at the time, and gave the bike the unfortunate nickname "plastic maggot". Fortunately, the CX500C (Custom), introduced a year later addressed the looks issue with a conventional tank and metalwork. Significant numbers of CXs were made in a variety of guises before production ended in 1983 and the CX faded into obscurity. However, amazingly, the CX is back in vogue in a big way and they have obviously been biding their time waiting for their moment of glory. It's impossible to ignore the new wave of CX powered 'café racers' and personalised 'street scramblers' on the roads, with some machines changing hands for serious amounts of money. This distinctive machine started life as a 1983 CX500 Custom and has undergone a full and complete strip down with a full nut and bolt rebuild. The frame and forks were stripped to bare metal, repainted and coated as were the tank and panels. Additionally, it has benefitted from an engine overhaul, new suspension, complete brake rebuild including all new brake pipes, carbs fully serviced and overhauled, complete rewire with all Motogadget equipment, and a completely new water-cooling system including the radiator. It has been fitted with a bespoke stainless steel exhaust with black mufflers, specially built spoked wheels with Metz tyres, new handlebars with all new levers and cables, and a new high-quality leather seat.Since the rebuild was completed the bike has only covered 300 running-in miles and now has fresh fluids and a new MoT. This is a very smart CX Tracker, that is easy to ride with a sensible saddle height, high bars, shaft drive, and smooth gear changes, and no matter if the hair you tuck into your crash helmet is mainly grey, your 'street credibility ' is bound to go up a number of points.(Helmet and gloves not included)

Hundreds of column inches were devoted to the question: would Lamborghini become sensible? For thirty-five years Lamborghini was a name synonymous with cars that did not conform, and later models such as the Countach and Diablo were deemed simply outrageous in compared to their contemporaries. Not altogether surprisingly, as the formation of Automobili Lamborghini was conceived in the aftermath of the outrage shown by tractor magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini in response to an encounter with Enzo Ferrari where he complained of the shoddy components fitted to his Ferrari. Enzo famously dismissed him, and the legendary marque was born, with each model pushing the design and engineering envelope. However the cars, whilst beautiful, were hard to live with on a daily basis, and with this in mind, Audi's plan was to provide German engineering and reliability under the skin of exotic Italian design. The resulting Murciélago, launched in 2001, gained praise for its dramatic looks that borrowed somewhat from the Muira and the Countach, and although deemed flamboyant at launch, the clean lines have aged gracefully. In March 2006, Lamborghini unveiled an updated version of the Murciélago, the LP 640 an alpha-numeric designation which indicated the engine's orientation (Longitudinale Posteriore), along with the updated power output. With displacement now increased to 6.5-litres, the engine produced 631 hp at 8,000 rpm and an upgraded clutch, for the 6-speed "e-Gear" automated sequential transmission with launch control, rounded out the performance modifications.Fittingly, as the marque of choice of the international jet set, a collaboration with the fashion house Versace was unveiled at the 2006 Paris Motor Show. Available in either white or black, only 20 were produced as both coupé or roadster, with very few available in right-hand drive. Although the standard V12 engine was used, stylists from the Versace fashion house and Lamborghini's 'Ad Personam' program collaborated to design custom interiors finished in two-tone Versace leather complimented by a Gianni Versace logo plaque on the centre console, and supplied with bespoke branded luggage. It must be said that both the exterior and interior branding is understated by 2018 automotive standards, and although offered in both white or black coachwork, the Aldebaran Gloss Black paint and bi-colour Nero over Bianco leather interior, stitched with the famous Versace Greco motif, is perhaps the best combination. All 20 cars were numbered and this car, the penultimate version at #19, was delivered to New Zealand in right-hand drive in 2007. Some ten years later our vendor, an avid collector of exotica, found the car for sale while purchasing a De Tomaso Pantera. Both cars shared the long journey to UK shores and the Lamborghini was first registered in the UK on the 1st April 2017, subsequently under the private registration “80 AO” which is not included in the sale. The car is presented to auction with an odometer reading of some 11,200 kilometres or just under 7,000 miles, full Lamborghini service history, Versace-branded luggage and an MoT valid until August 2019.To conclude, as the rarest of the Murcielago model range, this beautifully presented example is definitely one for the discerning Lamborghini collector.

1986 Ford Sierra Cosworth' Wolf' RS500

Lot #330 (Sale Order 30 of 51)

One of 10 Sierra RS Cosworths uprated by the official Ford Works DTM team, approved by FordAll conversions were undertaken by Wolf Racing for Ford, all in Moonstone Blue300 bhp engine upgrade, racing pistons, green injectors, bigger fuel pump, racing wastegate,Steel twin-exit exhaust, lowered sports suspension, 16" gold DTM style wheels, RS500 rear wingsImported from mainland Europe early 2018. Lovely condition throughout. Only 24,000 milesPost-inspection Letter of Authenticity from the Sierra Cosworth registrar.Letter from Ford Autohaus Wolf confirming official Wolf upgrade. Recent service and MoT Surprisingly slow sales of the distinctively shaped Ford Sierra after its introduction in 1982, suggested that a serious marketing boost was required, and it was the obvious choice to become the platform for Ford's new competition aspirations. It was rear-wheel drive, had good aerodynamics, albeit being prone to lift at high speeds, and it was available as a three-door. A wind-tunnel developed body kit and rear spoiler would sort out the lift issues but, more importantly, Ford still needed to build 5,000 units for motorsport homologation, somewhat worrying when Stuart Turner's initial approach to the dealer network came back with an estimate that indicated that they could sell around 1,500 units! The successful eventual sales record is of course history. Ford went on to sell 5,545 three-door cars including the RS500, of which only 500 were built to conform to the eligibility regulations relating to International Touring Car Racing, 'Group A'.Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned to convert these 500 right-hand drive cars and that included upgrading the engine to 224bhp (with the potential to exceed 400bhp in full-race mode), numerous aerodynamic enhancements including a 30mm lip spoiler applied to the tailgate to increase downforce, a more effective chin spoiler known as a 'splitter', and larger cooling ducts for both the brakes and the engine intercooler. We are proud to offer this fantastic opportunity to acquire something very rare and unusual. One of 10 Sierra RS Cosworths uprated by the official Ford Works DTM team, approved by Ford. This was a reaction to pressure on Ford to produce a left-hand drive RS500 for the German market, as fans could not access the, now all sold-out, run of 500 UK RHD cars. The conversions were undertaken by Wolf Racing for Ford, and all the cars were finished in Moonstone Blue. The official package included: a 300 bhp engine upgrade, racing pistons, green injectors, bigger fuel pump, racing wastegate, uprated electronic control chip, steel twin-exit exhaust, lowered sports suspension, 16" gold DTM style wheels, RS500 rear wings, RS500 decals, tinting film on rear windows, RS500 instrumentation with 300km/h full-scale, additional integrated instrumentation in the central console, a racing gear knob, and finally sports pedals.C126 JGL was imported into the UK from mainland Europe in early 2018 and is presented in excellent condition throughout with its Moonstone Blue paintwork retaining a deep shine, pristine unmarked Gold RS wheels, a crisp interior, and an engine bay that is pleasure to behold. The odometer is reading only 24,000 miles and the car has recently benefitted from a full service and MoT. It's accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from the Sierra Cosworth Registrar following a recent inspection, and additionally, a letter from Ford Autohaus Wolf confirming this particular car has been subject to the official Wolf upgrade. This very rare car is now ready to be enjoyed, either on the road or as part of a collection of very special Fords, and any serious collector would have to admit that the chances of finding another one in this condition would be rather slim. Not to be missed.

1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello

1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello

Lot #331 (Sale Order 31 of 51)

Great colour combinationEnviable service history The last of the purist's V12 manual Ferraris?Real-world GT ability and a timeless modern classicFirmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest modern-era big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of elegant lines and legendary front-mounted 12-cylinder engine, meant that these cars had the potential to become instant classics. Following in the footsteps and sharing the DNA of the 365 GTB/4 'Daytona', the 550 Maranello is inevitability compared to its forbear. Few front-engined Ferraris have quite justified that comparison quite like the 550 Maranello.Styled by Pininfarina, like its illustrious predecessor, the 550 Maranello was similarly proportioned, adopting the classical combination of long bonnet, small cabin and a truncated tail. Classic Ferrari styling cues include a bonnet air scoop and hot air outlets behind the front wheel-arches recalling the great Competizione Ferraris of the past, whilst the rear incorporates Ferrari's characteristic twin circular lights. The heart of any Ferrari is its engine, and the 550 Maranello's 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 develops 485bhp at 7,000rpm. The powertrain was housed in a tubular steel chassis, to which was attached aluminium coachwork, whilst the all-independent suspension incorporated dual-mode (normal/sports) damping, switch-selectable by the driver, which was complemented by speed-sensitive power-assisted steering. The six-speed manual gearbox complements a slightly more even torque curve ensuring that the power delivery was a little less frenetic, whilst excellent weight distribution and delightful road manners make the 550 Maranello a truly refined driving machine, whilst still capable of almost 200 mph. With styling that is ageing particularly well, a high-quality cabin, generous storage and an enormous 100-litre-plus fuel tank, the 550 Maranello really is the consummate 'European Grand Tourer' in the true Ferrari mould. In 2004, EVO magazine published a 'Greatest Driver's Cars' feature that set the 550 Maranello against the Porsche 911 GT3, Honda NSX-R and Pagani Zonda C12S. The Ferrari won. EVO stated “As with all great cars, there's no one facet that dominates the experience. Yes, the engine is mighty, but the chassis is its equal. There's never been a supercar that's so exploitable and so rounded in its capabilities.”The car presented here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello, which has covered just 31,164 miles, and looks resplendent in the discerning combination of Nero Daytona (Black) paintwork and Crema hide (with black piping). The car was supplied new through Graypaul (Ferrari) in Edinburgh and was returned to the workshops of Glenvarigill (Ferrari) in Edinburgh for servicing up to 21,161 miles, back to Graypaul up to 28,460 miles, then Lancaster (Ferrari) at Colchester at 29,672 miles, Ferrari specialists 'Slades Garage' , Bucks at 30,819 miles and most recently Dick Lovett (Ferrari) of Swindon at 31,142 miles, a total of five cam-belt changes during this period. This splendid car drives and performs extremely well, and has its confidence-inspiring maintenance history fully documented in the accompanying stamped-up service book. It also retains its full book-pack and manuals plus a complete tool-kit. The history file shows numerous invoices for servicing and maintenance. The 550 has been much hailed as a potential future classic, occupying a unique space where old world Ferrari V12s meets the new. A 550 really is a must-have model for any serious Ferrari enthusiast. ***PRIVATE PLATE SEEN NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE***

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster 'Flat Floor' 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster 'Flat Floor'

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster 'Flat Floor'

Lot #332 (Sale Order 32 of 51)

Very early Roadster built in left-hand drive and despatched new to ItalySuperbly restored by Italian craftsmen prior to its return to the UK in 2013The restoration appears to have been loyal to 1961 detailBritish Racing Green with a handcrafted Tan interior. Bellissimo!1961, 3.8-litre, flat-floor, factory hard-top, fully restored. Not too many of these about. Most of us imagine that the trend amongst the world's top manufacturers of exotic automobiles to release an air-brushed artist's impression of their new ultra-desirable, hugely powerful, impossibly good-looking, we're only making a few, don't ask how much and anyway they are all sold, model is a fairly recent phenomenon, however, it's not. Way back in 1961, Jaguar Cars did just that with their forthcoming E-Type and the only difference was that the forecast list price for the new model was about half of what you thought it might be. Sir William Lyons' savvy move of restricting the sale of the first 50 or so cars to established racing drivers or celebrities only fuelled demand still further and magazine articles have been written about just how far potential customers would go to be moved up the rapidly expanding waiting list.Naturally, when the car was launched in May 1961 it caused a sensation with newspaper headlines focussing on the car's (optimistic) top speed of 150mph and remarkable looks, however, there was a lot more to the E-Type than a pretty face. With a claimed 265 horsepower available, the E-Type's performance significantly furthered the standards set by the preceding XK models, partly because it weighed around 500lbs less than the XK150, but mainly because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used his experience gained partly with their C and D-Types but mainly from prototypes E1A and E2A to create one of the most efficient shapes for a high-performance sports car. The fact that this low drag design was also one of the most elegant shapes ever to sit atop a set of four wheels was a bit of a 'win-win'.Only in terms of its transmission did the E-Type represent no significant advance over the XK150, whose durable four-speed Moss gearbox it retained. But, of all the versions of Jaguar's long-lived and much-loved sports car, it is the very early 3.8-litre cars built prior to February 1962 (retrospectively known as 'flat floor') which, for many enthusiasts, remain the most desirable. Around 2,000 of the early cars were built with a flat floor under the pedals but the driving position was not ideal for taller drivers so changes were made to the footwell creating a recess for the driver's heels.According to its chassis number, this is the 594th left-hand drive roadster built and was finished in Cream with a Black interior. before being supplied new to Fattori and Montani in Rome. It was ordered with a factory hardtop but without a soft-top which seems odd considering it was headed for sunny Italy. It returned to the UK in 2013 just after being fully restored in Italy with a colour change to the lovely combination of British Racing Green with a light tan leather interior. Pleasingly it remains still attached to its original hard top. The quality of Italian restorations is legendary, particularly when it comes to interiors and trimming. and in this case, no matter what additions had crept into the cabin over the years, it is now 'Pure 1961'. The Jaguar is supplied with its UK V5C Registration Document, the Heritage Certificate, a MoT test certificate from when the car was imported, and the original Italian registration documents. This is an opportunity to purchase, not only one of the most sought-after E-Type models, a 'matching numbers, Series !, 3.8-litre, 'flat floor', but one that has been beautifully restored.

1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupé 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupé

1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupé

Lot #333 (Sale Order 33 of 51)

UK supplied, RHD 1971 280SE 3.5-litre V8 Coupé in excellent orderOnly 3 owners from new. The first was Marie McDonald Mc Laughlin Gibb (Lulu) With our vendor for 38 years. Only two respected marque specialists have cared for it throughout this period Paint refreshed in 2017. Recent work to the fuel system, a new fuel tank, new period-correct, Michelin XWX tyresA very usable example of a timeless classic with the cachet of sixties icon ownership The 3.5-litre version of the 280SE typifies the resurgence of larger-engined Mercedes-Benz models that began in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the progressive easing of fiscal constraints, which had dissuaded customers from buying cars with large capacity engines, encouraged the German manufacturer to offer bigger, more potent power units. Thus, the ultra-luxurious 280SE Coupé/Cabriolet and 300SEL saloon were the models chosen by Mercedes-Benz to launch its magnificent new 3.5-litre V8 engine in 1969. An over-square design featuring a cast-iron block and aluminium alloy cylinder heads, each equipped with a single overhead camshaft, this all-new, state-of-the-art power unit produced 200bhp courtesy of Bosch electronic fuel injection and transistorised ignition. Thus equipped, the Coupé/Cabriolet was good for 125mph with 60mph whispering by in 9.5 seconds, a substantial improvement on the six-cylinder version's figures. Although the equivalent SEL Saloon used the 'New Generation' bodyshell, the Coupé and Cabriolet kept the elegant coachwork that had debuted back in 1959 on the 220SE and, as befitted top-of-the-range luxury models came equipped with automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows and stereo radio as standard. Significantly, the 280SE 3.5 was to be the final model to feature this long-established and much-admired body style, and today these last-of-the-line classics are highly sought after by discerning Mercedes-Benz collectors. The most prestigious of the 280SE Coupé and Cabriolet variants is the 3.5 litre V8 model made for just two years from 1969 to 1971, the majority of these in left-hand drive. Offered here is a beautifully original, UK supplied, RHD 1971 280SE Coupé delivered new to Highgate London in August 1971 to a Marie McDonald Mc Laughlin Gibb better known by her stage name Lulu and the then wife of Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees. She is internationally identified with hits such as 'Shout', 'To Sir with Love', and Eurovision success with ' Boom Bang-a-Bang''. She also sang the title song to the James Bond movie ''The man with the Golden Gun''. A pop icon for decades and now a leading light in the world of fashion, she was awarded an OBE in 2000 by the Queen and is now known as Lulu Kennedy-Cairns OBE.She kept this Coupé for approximately three years with the second owner, an Arabian businessman domiciled in London, selling it to its present owner, our vendor who has cherished and enjoyed ownership of this significant Mercedes for nearly thirty-eight years. At the time, around Christmas 1981, whilst living in the fashionable West End he noticed the Coupé advertised in the Sunday Times by the exuberant motor trader John Lewis of Heathmans Row/ Kings Road Chelsea. Whilst in our vendor's ownership, a renowned collector of all things Mercedes, the 280SE has been maintained to an excellent standard. Only two respected marque specialists have cared for it throughout his thirty-eight-year ownership. Initially, service work was carried out by Schmitt Automobiles in St John's Wood. After a trip to Germany to have the Behr air conditioning fitted, as per factory installations, Die Autoschmiede undertook a restoration of the underside including both sills and then attended to the steering, ensuring this elegant coupe drives faultlessly today It is still fitted with the original sunroof and with its Becker Mexico radio cassette player and we imagine that Mrs Marie Gibb would frequently have popped in a ' Saturday Night Fever' cassette to listen to her husband Maurice and his brothers.Lightly used over the last few years, the Mercedes benefitted from a paint refresh in 2017 and, prior to the sale, has had work to the fuel system, a new fuel tank, a new set of, period-correct, Michelin XWX tyres, and has been further detailedMotor tax exempt and with a current MoT, this three owner car is a very usable example of a timeless classic with the cachet of sixties icon ownership.

1996 Lamborghini Diablo SV 1996 Lamborghini Diablo SV

1996 Lamborghini Diablo SV

Lot #334 (Sale Order 34 of 51)

Well known within Lamborghini circles thanks to its rather apt registration N666 LAMBelieved to be the former Alpine Radio press and show car.Mileage is some 20,000 miles (33,000km) and will be supplied with a fresh MoTHuge history file, two keys, service books and "Registro Lamborghini" paperworkOnly 33 Diablo SVs were sold in the UK, making this 'devilish' car very rare The launch of the Muira in 1966 paved the way for the supercar as we know it today, and Marcello Gandini's penmanship appears almost discreet in comparison to the Muira's successors, the Countach and Diablo. After seventeen years of outrageousness the Countach was finally retired and Gandini's Diablo, although slightly toned down, was launched to the world in Monaco in 1990. The new car was the fastest, most advanced and most expensive Lamborghini ever built. The two-door, rear wheel drive, mid-engined coupé was powered by a 5.7 litre, V12 and about 490 horses dug their hooves into the tarmac resulting in a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The first Lamborghini since the Muira to be labelled a “Super Veloce”, the Diablo SV was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 1995 and among the more significant changes was an increase in power to 517bhp and better brake cooling. Other SV changes included an adjustable rear spoiler, different lighting, a ducted engine lid, and larger diameter front brakes. According to online sources, only some 33 right-hand drive cars were destined for the UK, and N666 LAM was first registered on the 14th June 1996. It is believed by the vendor that the car was the Alpine Radio Press and Show car, and we are currently trying to confirm this from Alpine themselves. Brochures of the period certainly had a yellow Diablo SV on the cover. Our vendor, an avid collector of Lamborghini, Ferrari and other exotica, purchased N666 LAM in 2014. Although the car was in good order, it had been in long-term storage since 2007 and he retained the services of The Ferrari Centre, Kent to carefully go through the car and service it, with the bill for this attention amounting to £12,300, less than 1,500 kilometres ago. The odometer reading of 33,473 km (all Lamborghinis of this period regardless if UK-supplied were fitted with odometers in kilometres) is warranted by the MoT records. The car is presented to auction freshly painted and sporting new SV decals and is accompanied by its original service book, both keys, and a history file containing bills and invoices, and previous MoTs for those periods when it was not in long-term storage. The car flew through its most recent MoT which expires in September 2019.Few cars command as much road presence as the Diablo and with its low worldwide production numbers, and fewer still UK-supplied examples, this SV hits all the right notes. We welcome any pre-sale inspection so please contact the office should you wish a private viewing.

An exquisite 328 GTS on offer from a private collection.Supplied new by Maranello Egham to its first owner on 6th February 1986Rosso Corsa and Tan leather with Bordeaux carpets and a Nero leather dash.Comprehensive Service History. Most recent at 66,432 miles. Current mileage 67,000Full complement of MoT Certificates, the V5c, handbooks, keys, original complete toolkit The Ferrari 328 first appeared in 1985 as the successor to the 308, featuring a normally aspirated 3.2 V8 engine and very handsome styling. Instantly popular, Ferrari went on to produce 7,400 variants worldwide during the production run which finished late in 1989. Now regarded as a true design classic, this ultimate 270bhp sports car of the day reached 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds and went on to a top speed of 166mph.This exquisite 328 GTS is finished in the most desirable combination of Rosso and Tan with Bordeaux carpets and Nero leather dash. The car is complete with a highly detailed and comprehensive history, with a full complement of MoT Certificates, original complete toolkit, handbooks, keys, rare space saver wheel, as well as its original Blaupunkt stereo and essential fuse box replacement.Supplied new by Maranello Egham, Surrey to the first owner, a Mr Miller, on 6th February 1986, this car was clearly enjoyed as a daily driver as 28,000 miles were covered in the first five years of its life, with all works being carried out by the supplying dealer, Maranello as detailed in the history file. She was subsequently sold to the second owner, Mr Barratt, by Maranello on 14th September 1991 who had servicing and repairs carried out by Maranello, Ferrari specialists Talacrest, and latterly Neal Lucas until 2003. The car was then sold to its third owner, Mr Shonfeld, who purchased it from Kent High Performance in June 2003.The custodian prior to our vendor kept the car dry stored in a garage and covered a very nominal 2,000 miles during his nine-year tenure. At times during this period, the car saw little or no use and was declared SORN accordingly. Despite hardly being used, it passed its MoT in June 2014 with no advisories whatsoever, a testament to the care it had been given as it was still regularly serviced even whilst not in full use.In mid-2014 the decision was taken to return the Ferrari to market and to bring it up to scratch the interior was fully Connolised giving the leather a wonderful finish and the paint was professionally refreshed. In August 2014, it was entrusted to GT Cars of Warrington who fully serviced it and replaced the cambelts and tensioners. During its strip down, all the cams were inspected and were showing no wear whatsoever - confirmation of just how robust the 3.2 QV engines are when serviced correctly and regularly.Service History with invoices included in the history file:Specialist Date Mileage Work UndertakenMaranello 11/03/86 1,180 Running in serviceMaranello 10/10/86 3,848 ServiceMaranello 16/11/87 11,389 ServiceMaranello 05/09/88 17,258 ServiceMaranello 16/05/89 20,682 Service & BeltsMaranello 29/01/91 27,164 ServiceMaranello 22/08/91 28,614 Service & BeltsMaranello 08/09/92 31,500 ServiceTalacrest 27/09/93 35,270 Service & BeltsTalacrest 23/09/94 38,695 ServiceNeal Lucas 27/03/96 43,368 Service & BeltsNeal Lucas 28/02/97 47,197 ServiceNeal Lucas 01/08/97 49,978 ServiceNeal Lucas 04/03/98 50,616 Service & BeltsNeal Lucas 21/01/99 51,930 Service & variousNeal Lucas 24/02/00 55,218 Service & BeltsNeal Lucas 03/05/01 56,781 Service & variousNeal Lucas 16/05/02 60,484 Service & BeltsNeal Lucas 02/04/03 62,057 ServiceKent High Performance 24/06/03 63,459 ServiceR & D Automotive 01/03/04 64,091 Service & BeltsR & D Automotive 16/02/05 64,423 ServiceJMH Automotive 15/09/06 65,733 Service & BeltsA & E Performance 12/04/11 66,192 Service & BeltsGT Motors 23/08/14 66,432 Service & Belts cam gasketSilverstone Auctions were pleased to be asked to offer the Ferrari at our sale at the NEC Classic Show in November 2014 and it was purchased by its current owner to form part of his significant private collection where it has remained until now.Once again we have been asked to find a new home for this immaculate motor car so it has been freshly MoT'd and will come to auction with an odometer reading of 67,000 miles, a full complement of MoT Certificates, the V5c, handbooks, keys, its original complete toolkit, rare space saver wheel, and is still fitted with its original Blaupunkt stereo. The values of 308s and 328s have plateaued for the last couple of years, however, the market seems to have perked up a bit and being amongst the most affordable, user-friendly and above all enjoyable Ferrari models to drive, these cars are now proving to be a sound investment.

1982 Audi Quattro Coupé - Pre-production prototype 1982 Audi Quattro Coupé - Pre-production prototype

1982 Audi Quattro Coupé - Pre-production prototype

Lot #336 (Sale Order 36 of 51)

A very early pre-production prototype - likely to be the first UK right-hand drive QuattroThe Quattro Experience. An intoxicating combination of turbo power and four-wheel drive Mechanically recommissioned in 2016 and a full respray in 2017 costing in excess of £11,000Supplied with its original registration 'TOC 658Y' and will be MoT'd prior to the sale Thought to be one of only two right-hand drive pre-production Quattros remainingAudi's Quattro is a legend that re-wrote the form book in International Rallying, as well as causing rival manufacturers to rethink their offerings and was, quite literally, a trailblazer. However, it may never have happened as the model was never meant to go into full production, being the homologation car for Audi in Group 4. The assembly line was set up in Hall N2, not part of the main factory, with just 24 staff working 5 days a week. In fact, there were twice as many staff in the Audi Sport team than there were building the road cars at the time. The resulting model was launched with great excitement at the 1980 Geneva Salon and then released to European customers later the same year. It was initially powered a 2144cc in-line, five-cylinder, 10-valve SOHC unit with turbocharger and intercooler. This was the first time the mass car market had been introduced to the intoxicating combination of turbo power and four-wheel drive, and the results were spectacular. When production started for the '81 'B' chassis model year, Audi totally underestimated the demand for Quattro road cars, particularly at twice the price of an Audi Coupe. As a result of this, the Quattro was to be built in left-hand drive configuration only but the public quickly took to the car, especially from the U.K. even in left-hand drive.Audi was eventually persuaded by the U.K. importer to consider extending production and building right-hand drive models. As this was never planned, 12 prototype pre-production cars were built with features unique to the early 'C' chassis cars; quad headlamps, and different suspension and brakes. The production right-hand drive cars were launched as '83 model 'D' chassis numbers without these items. We are pleased to offer this right-hand drive pre-production prototype, chassis ending #1328, built in June 1982 and first registered on 1st August '82, making it highly likely to be the first factory supplied right-hand drive UK car. Finished in Diamond Silver and supplied through Smithfield of Digbeth, Birmingham, is it thought to be one of just two of these 'C' chassis cars remaining, the other being chassis ending #1333 which lives in Scotland. The previous owner acquired the car in 1997 but did not 'fire up the Quattro' and it sat in storage for the next 20 years until our lucky vendor managed to purchase it from him in August 2016. It was then sent to marque specialist 'Quattro-tech' for extensive recommissioning work which included; a major service including a new cambelt, new starter motor and water pump, front callipers, discs and pads, new suspension top mounts, and a fuel pump. An invoice for this work is included in the file totalling £2,862. In February 2017 a new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted at the Quattro Workshop amounting to £717. To improve its aesthetic look and bring it back to its former glory, a new rear apron was purchased directly from Audi Tradition and the car was fully stripped back to bare metal and resprayed in its original colour. The resulting invoice for this work totals more than £11,600. Now in splendid condition, the car was featured on the Quattro Owners Club stand at the London Classic Car Show in 2018, which was only its second time in public for 20 years. It was also magazine featured in 1991 in an article about the early right-hand drive Quattro's.Now showing 71,853 miles on the odometer, the history file includes the most recent invoices whilst in our vendors care, full photographic records of the respray, some old MoTs and an Instruction Manual. Supplied with a UK V5c for its original registration 'TOC 658Y', it be will MoT'd prior to the sale. Rarely do opportunities such as this present themselves and this early pre-production Quattro is now ready to start the next chapter of its life.

1976 Triumph Stag 1976 Triumph Stag

1976 Triumph Stag

Lot #337 (Sale Order 37 of 51)

Fully documented restoration in 1991 by Tudor Classics of Manchester costing £26,000V8 engine rebuilt at the point of restorationManual overdrive gearbox giving an enhanced driving experienceA large and detailed history fileOffered with a nearly new canvas hood and hard topA credit to the team at Tudor Classics of Manchester with whom more than £26,000 was invested in 1991 to make this Stag the very best available and fewer than 11,000 miles travelled since mean it's still in exceptional order throughout. The bodywork is very good, beautifully straight and particularly well-painted in a timeless metallic blue with a light fleck in the paint. The interior is well trimmed in black vinyl leather, and the wood, hard-top, door cards and carpets are all in good order as well. Mechanically, the V8 engine was meticulously rebuilt at the point of restoration, and benefits from the recent replacement (May 2018) of the head gaskets and a new alternator (August 2018). The manual overdrive gearbox is also an enormous positive, in our opinion, since we believe this enhances the driving experience considerably. The restoration was comprehensive to the very last nut and bolt and is fully detailed with receipts from Tudor Classics, however, even before this restoration it is clear from the copious documentation from pre-1991 that this was a well maintained and cared for car. This car really does need to be seen to be appreciated. Now offered with a nearly new canvas hood, hard top, and a large collection of invoices, receipts and old MoTs. The current MoT runs to February 2019. A really lovely Stag.

1968 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda

Lot #338 (Sale Order 38 of 51)

Superb, left-hand drive, 250 SL sparkling after a complete restorationRepainted from bare metal, new panels where necessary, new floorpan, full engine rebuild, gearbox servicedDashboard refurbished. Original leather interior professionally restored. New factory soft top Good photographic history file of restoration without invoices. A really lovely 'Pagoda' Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, the W113 SL-series is a two-seater Mercedes-Benz convertible with a distinctive concave hard top which led to the affectionate nickname of "Pagoda", a term still used today. All models featured an inline 6-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection and the cubic capacity indicated by the number preceding the SL badge. The same show in 1967 coincidentally, saw the introduction of the W113-250SL. The new car retained the stiffer suspension and sporty feel of the earlier cars, but provided improved agility with its larger(2.5Ltr.) engine and was now fitted with rear disc brakes and a larger tank. They were offered with a 4-speed Automatic transmission or a 4/5-speed ZF manual gearbox. Production ended in January 1968 and its one-year production run makes the 250SL the rarest of the W113 series. This left-hand drive, 250 SL is fresh from a complete restoration. Imported by our private vendor a few years ago from the USA, the car has just been thoroughly restored and repainted from bare metal with all bills available in the car's history file. The work was finished this year and the SL is now ready to be enjoyed without the workload or expense of getting it done yourself. The work at a Mercedes-Benz specialist included new panels where necessary, a new floorpan, new factory soft top, a full engine rebuild, gearbox check and service, all wood on the dashboard top refurbished, and the original leather interior professionally restored. The car drives extremeley well, has a history file with all bills and photographs of the work carried out, and looks extremely smart in its original colour scheme of Silver with a Black factory hard top.Sensibly priced, at a fraction of the costs incurred, this classic little Pagoda offers extremely good value for money.

2010 Dodge Viper ACR 'Voodoo Edition'

Lot #339 (Sale Order 39 of 51)

A hardcore, track-focused version of the SRT-10. 8.4-litre V10 and 600bhp'Voodoo Edition' ACR - One of only 31 ever produced with unique exterior and interior touchesServiced regularly and detailed thoroughly. Supplied with UK V5c and history file8.4-litres of Black Magic Introduced in 2008, Dodge added a track-focused Viper to the lineup. The 'American Club Racer' or ACR for short was fitted with a host of performance extras including; a carbon-fibre rear wing, a revised carbon front splitter giving the car greater downforce, 2-way adjustable KW suspension, a front roll stabiliser bar, forged aluminium 'Sidewinder Wheels' and StopTech 2-piece slotted discs with Brembo calipers all around. Like many manufacturers before them, Dodge opted to rid the interior of any creature comforts to shed weight and best utilise the engine's performance. There was also an option - the 'hardcore package' which meant deletion of the radio, speakers under bonnet silencer, boot carpet, and tyre inflator. The result was most impressive and a Viper ACR even clocked a record time of 7min 22secs at the manufacturers favourite circuit - the Nordschleife Nurburgring. To celebrate the end of the production run in 2010, Dodge announced several special-edition ACR Vipers, one of which was the 'Voodoo Edition' which included special black paint with red stripes and a unique interior and steering wheel. Only 31 were produced and we are pleased to offer this 2010 Dodge Viper ACR 'Voodoo Edition' Imported from Canada to the UK in 2015 by our vendor, this car was then registered with the DVLA wearing the very apt 'N99 ACR'. Since then the car has been serviced regularly and maintained to the highest standards. Always garaged and detailed this ACR has been fitted with a lighter intake manifold from the fifth-generation model. Additional heat shielding has been fitted to the air intake for better performance, carbon-fibre engine bay trim has been added, and the entire front of the car covered in paint protection film including the roof to keep the original paint in excellent condition.Supplied with a UK V5c and MoT tested until 14th November 2018, this track-monster pushing out 600 horsepower is not for the faint-hearted and offers superb value - an American 'Muscle Car' living up to its name.

1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupé 1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupé

1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupé

Lot #340 (Sale Order 40 of 51)

Striking FHC in a lovely colour combination Long-term single UK ownership Ground-up restoration over a number of yearsDesirable manual gearbox modelBelieved matching-numbersThe XK120 debuted at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show where the breathtaking roadster caused a sensation with the resulting demand, for what was then the world's fastest production car, taking Jaguar by surprise. The elegant shape was the work of Jaguar boss William Lyons himself, probably based on a few simple lines drawn on a breakfast napkin as were so many of his design ideas, and brought to life by the talented team in Jaguar's Drawing Office many of whom had only recently been been designing nose cones and wing shapes for WWII fighter aircraft. Jaguar expected to sell no more than 200 XK120s in the first year, a volume that wouldn't justify producing tooling for presses, so coachbuilt aluminium was the construction of choice. With bulging order books it quickly became clear that the labour-intensive alloy bodywork would have to go, and the car was swiftly re-engineered in steel. In a matter of weeks, in conjunction with the Pressed Steel Fisher Company, a new all-steel panelled body was developed, which retained the fabulous looks of the coachbuilt original whilst differing in minor external details. The car's heart was, of course, the fabulous XK engine, a 3.4-litre 'six' embodying the best of modern design, boasting twin overhead camshafts running in an aluminium-alloy cylinder head, seven main bearings, and a maximum output of 160bhp. The XK120 set new standards of comfort, roadholding and performance for a British sports car and, in keeping with the Jaguar tradition, there was nothing to touch it at the price. Once Jaguar had caught up with XK120 Roadster demand and production of steel-bodied examples was running smoothly, it developed a Coupé to widen the model's appeal. Aside from the addition of a roof, the biggest difference between this and the Roadster is the use of a, mostly steel, floorpan in place of plywood. The car presented here is a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC), specified new with the desirable manual gearbox. According to the car's accompanying Heritage Certificate, it was a left-hand drive US-spec car, finished in Black with a Red interior and was completed on the 2nd January 1953 before being despatched to Jaguar's legendary New York distributor, Max Hoffman. It was fitted with a manual gearbox which was unusual in a car destined for America. From the Heritage Certificate and physical inspection, the car is thought to retain its matching-numbers status. As an engineer and car enthusiast, our vendor has overseen many thorough Jaguar restorations over the years, enjoying a long relationship with the marque. Now back in the UK, this particular XK120 was acquired as a 'project' back in 1994 and did require extensive restoration, but this did not deter our resourceful vendor. Using his own skills and those of numerous specialists, he set about a real 'ground-up' renewal of the chassis, bodywork, and mechanicals (all of which is captured in multiple photographs – a few of which are published here). Due to his advancing years, and possibly enjoying the restoration 'journey' more than the end result, the car is now offered for sale. It's a genuinely useable example, restored thoroughly and presented to a fair standard, perhaps requiring some minor 'finishing-off' and some additional 'shake-down' miles under its wheels (it has only covered around 50 miles since completion). The mechanicals all appear to be well re-engineered, having been fully refurbished and sounding/running as they should. There is a real purity of design to the XK120, and something quite distinctive and more purposeful about the Coupé over the more commonplace Roadster, especially a standard model on steel wheels, with no spats and a manual box - a drivers' XK120 if you like. Here is a very solid example from long-term ownership, offered at a very tempting guide price.

1974 Lamborghini Espada Series III 1974 Lamborghini Espada Series III

1974 Lamborghini Espada Series III

Lot #341 (Sale Order 41 of 51)

One owner from new until 2018The most desirable Espada, a Series III before the arrival of impact bumpers3.9-litre V12. 321bhp. Manual gearbox, power steering and air-conditioningFinished in gleaming Black Cherry. The engine bay is a work of art'Spaceship' four-seat interior in Magenta leather and Crushed Cranberry velourComprehensive history file with the original owner's manuals. Original spare wheel and tool kit Named after a Matador's sword, the Espada was styled along lines similar to those of the stillborn, rear-engined, six-cylinder Marzal but carried its 4.0-litre, four-cam V12 up front. The latter - first seen in the 400GT and used also by the contemporary Islero - produced 325bhp, an output sufficient to propel the distinctive, Bertone-styled coupé to 150mph. Islero running gear was employed but wedded to a platform-type, semi-monocoque chassis rather than the former's tubular frame. Introduced in January 1970, the Series II cars came with an extra 25bhp, 155mph top speed, an improved dashboard layout and the option of power-assisted steering. The dashboard was revised yet again in late 1972 for the Series III, which also incorporated power steering as standard, up-rated brakes, minor suspension improvements and a restyled front grille. Espada production ceased in 1978 after 1,225 of these imposing cars had been built. The Factory production record in the History File confirms that this Series III Espada was manufactured in 1976 with Build Number 1176, and sold by its authorised dealer in Arizona in December 1976. As the 1176th Espada built from a total of 1,225 cars, it is the fiftieth from last. It is, however, registered on the USA Certificate of Title as produced in 1974, this being a common practice by European manufacturers to overcome the idiosyncrasies of the American Federal and State-specific registration requirements. In this case, given that the rubber bumpers introduced in 1976 were an anathema to most owners, this example is to Euro specification and hence registered by the Lamborghini importing dealer as of 1974 production.Finished in Black Cherry with a Burgundy interior, this is a one owner car and remained with its original Colorado owner until 2018. He was a very wealthy man and kept the Espada and his car collection in the same hangar as his private planes, the car being maintained by his highly-qualified aero mechanics using Lamborghini parts. It remained in Colorado throughout its life, was used sparingly only under ideal road conditions, and records just 26,000 miles. The car has been retrofitted with an electronic ignition system, a high torque starter motor, and braided fuel lines, all reflecting the engineering philosophy of the aircraft mechanics who maintained the car. The History File includes a summary of the maintenance and servicing performed on the car, and a number of invoices including those for Factory parts sourced from GT Cars of Phoenix Arizona, the official Lamborghini dealer for the region. Recent maintenance includes an overhaul of the transmission, rebuilding the cylinder heads, and the car was fully serviced by the Classic Workshop Ltd in Bicester during August 2018 at a cost of £4,668.The Espada is supplied with its:Original tool kit, jack, and spare wheel (still with its original Michelin tyre),original Sales Brochure, original Owners Handbook, original and very rare Factory Guarantee pamphlet recording its first service in 1977 with just 1,970 miles, a Parts Manual, original Alpine Stereo handbook and, pleasingly, an original pair of Lamborghini Cologne leather-bound flasks. All Espadas have a sense of drama, in fact, I think they look more dramatic today than when we first saw one 48 years ago. Obviously over their eight years in production, although the shape hardly changed, they developed significantly mechanically which makes the later SeriesIII cars the better bet. This is indeed a rare find. A Series III with one owner, 26,000 dry miles, treated like a baby by aero engineers, and with all its original paperwork etc would seem like a tall order, but here it is.

1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2 1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2

1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2

Lot #342 (Sale Order 42 of 51)

Only 16,898 miles (27,190km) Factory Stage 2 185bhp upgradeVery rare, original, Bordeaux colour with Beige InteriorOwned by two US private collectors. Imported into the UK early 2018Comprehensive history. Lovely. Unrestored and unmolestedIn 1980, Renault introduced their new R5 Turbo as a pure homologation special to compete in 'Group 4' racing and international rallies. The 5 Turbo was based on the production Renault 5 Alpine, but Renault Sport engineers scrapped the standard front-engine, front wheel drive layout in favour of a mid-engine, rear drive setup. In 1981, Jean Ragnotti and his co-driver Jean-Marc Andrie won the Monte Carlo Rally outright for Renault, and the following year Ragnotti won the Tour de Corse. In 1984, 'Group B' homologation was sought for the Renault Maxi 5 Turbo to enable it to contest the World Rally Championship and the following year, Ragnotti added another Tour de Corse win with the Maxi 5 turbo. After the first batch of 400 road cars had been made to satisfy 'Group 4' homologation volume requirements, a second generation, known as the 'Turbo 2' was to follow. This extremely low mileage example was supplied new by Sun International in California to Don Marsh, the well-known racer and car collector. He bought two at the same time, a Black one and this Bordeaux (Maroon) car which was fitted with the Factory Stage 2 185 bhp upgrade (larger intercooler and wastegate shim) prior to delivery. Don used the car for an occasional blast in the California sunshine and kept it until 1998 when it was purchased by a fellow collector with 7,200 miles (11,600km) on the clock. When he took possession, he removed the factory seats, wheels, steering wheel, and pedals to preserve them and avoid wear, and they were reinstated when he sold the car in 2017 prior to it being imported to the UK in early 2018.The very smart Bordeaux exterior retains the original soft sponge roofline spoilers, plastic intake ducts, fog and headlamps and the Beige interior is in excellent condition with authentic seats, steering wheel and luggage straps. The car sits on the original Turbine Alloy Wheels with Michelin TRX tyres and the correct Gotti steel spare wheel remains unused. To make the driving experience a little more civilised the car has been updated with an Alpine Digital Receiver, Bilstein Adjustable Shock Absorbers, and a bespoke Aluminium Exhaust. Other than these modern updates, the Turbo 2 remains mainly true to its roots. The Renault is complete with a large History File including original Sun International documentation, Invoices, Parts Manual, Workshop Manual, 2018 Export and Import documentation, HPI and Carfax Reports, UK V5, and an MoT valid until January 2019.Thinly disguised, road-going rally cars of this nature tend to lead a hard life and it is very rare that a Turbo 2 will have belonged to a couple of considerate collectors from new and come to market unrestored and unsullied.

1974 Volkswagen Single Cab Pick-Up Truck 1974 Volkswagen Single Cab Pick-Up Truck

1974 Volkswagen Single Cab Pick-Up Truck

Lot #343 (Sale Order 43 of 51)

South African built and remained there until 2015Superbly restored by Export 56, leading Porsche restorers, as their 'shop-window'2-litre engine rebuilt. Mechanically refreshed. Lots of new parts. New soft top and frameIn spectacular condition and we understand, drives “perfectly”.Wonderful period motorsport support vehicle.Ideal business promotion tool This immaculate 1974 Volkswagen Type 2, bay-window, single cab, pick-up truck started life in South Africa although, prior to that, had been built in Brazil. Thousands of Type 2s were partly built under license in Brazil only to be taken apart and shipped in kit-form to South Africa where they were re-assembled, finished and sold. It seems a strange arrangement, however, presumably there must have been some financial benefit to both countries. South African built Type 2s, particularly those that remained in the country for many years, are popular worldwide as restoration projects, the dry climate resulting in much less chassis and floorpan deteriorationThis particular pick-up was imported to the UK from South Africa in 2015 still wearing its original Green and White and was purchased, in January 2016, by Buckinghamshire-based, independent classic Porsche specialists, Export 56. Established for over 25 years they have become one of the UK's leading practitioners in the restoration and preservation of classic Porsches. They were in the market for a small pick-up truck as loading engines, body sections etc is so much easier onto a flatbed and, specialising in early air-cooled German cars, a Volkswagen was the preferred choice.Although the little truck was in great condition, showing little sign of rust and no accident damage, it would regularly be seen by customers and represent the company, so it was important that it looked the part and effectively became a shop window for their restoration skills. In July 2016 the pick up underwent a major renovation that took around 12 months. The body was fully stripped and some metalwork was replaced but the truck was basically very sound. The engine, brakes, suspension and running gear were fully rebuilt/restored using existing parts where possible and new/old stock when not. It was fitted with a brand new interior, steering wheel, door frames and handles. All the lighting, external trim, and detail parts were new also as it was important that the company's renowned attention to detail was evident in their little truck. A new weatherproof top and frame were sourced and the flatbed was 'rubberised'. The vehicle is currently powered by a 1600cc type 2 engine which produces a healthy 70bhp. When it was ready, it was carefully prepared, painted in Dark Green and White, and finished in Export56/Porsche livery. When your business is restoring old German bodywork and then painting it to a showroom standard, then your company vehicles need to reflect this level of quality and this little pick-up certainly does that. Overall it's in spectacular condition and we understand, drives "perfectly".This is a wonderful period motorsport support vehicle or an ideal business promotion tool turning heads wherever it goes.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS 'Fifty' 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS 'Fifty'

2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS 'Fifty'

Lot #344 (Sale Order 44 of 51)

Left-hand drive. Imported new from the US. Only 2,618 miles6.2 GM LS3 producing 455bhp mated to an 8-speed paddle shift automatic gearboxFinished in a unique Nightfall Grey with a fabulous Black and Orange interior Well optioned with Wi-Fi, Head-up, Sat-Nav, rear camera, car coverFactory-fitted Borla exhaust system with variable exhaust note at the touch of a button. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of their legendary Camaro in 1967, Chevrolet announced a special commemorative edition. It was to be called the "Fifty", was available on both the LT and SS models, and was introduced in the Summer of 2017. The majority of the cars were finished in a unique Nightfall Grey exterior colour with an orange stripe package and the interiors were black with suede accents and orange contrast stitching. The interior also featured the 50th-anniversary logo on the seatbacks, steering wheel, and illuminated door sill plates. In addition, 50th-anniversary models sat on 20" wheels with orange-painted brake calipers and a bespoke grille with satin chrome accents. This 2017, left-hand drive Camaro SS 'Fifty' has covered just 2,618 miles and is in remarkable condition. It's been in the UK from new and is registered here with all taxes paid etc. It is indeed finished in Nightfall Grey with the special-edition interior. Our vendor describes the coachwork, paintwork and interior as "Excellent", in fact, he describes everything about the car as "Excellent", not really surprising when you consider the caring ownership and tiny mileage. The 6.2 GM LS3 produces 455bhp from the factory and is mated to a modern 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift behind the steering wheel. The boxes on the options list have been well ticked and they include an adjustable head up display, heated and a/c cooling seats. a rear-facing camera, sat nav, built-in WiFi to connect your devices, and a fitted car cover. Probably the ultimate 'toy' is a factory-fitted Borla exhaust system that enables you to change the exhaust note at the touch of a button.Whilst not limited-edition, these cars will undoubtedly be scarce in the UK and, if the mileage is kept reasonably low, may well have a long-term investment value. However, most of us would buy this car because it's a virtually new 'muscle-car in a distinctive livery, with 455bhp and an exhaust note that would 'waken the dead'.

1992 Mercedes-Benz 600SL (R129) 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600SL (R129)

1992 Mercedes-Benz 600SL (R129)

Lot #345 (Sale Order 45 of 51)

Introduction year 600SL R129 with the desirable 389 bhp 6.0-litre V12 engine One owner and showing a believed genuine 6,831 miles on the odometer Finished in Metallic Red over a beige leather interior Will be serviced at a Mercedes-Benz main dealer prior to the sale In 1989, Mercedes Benz introduced the fourth generation of their sporting SL model, the R129, which was supplied in Europe with several engine options and named accordingly. Basic models were the 190hp three-litre, inline six-cylinder 300SL with 12 valves and the 228hp, three-litre, inline six cylinder with 24 valves, known as the 300SL-24, but it was the 322hp 500SL with a five-litre V8 engine, which made the headlines. The specification was high with electric windows, mirrors, seats and roof. The R129 model was the first convertible/roadster to offer the automatic roll-bar deployment in event of a rollover, although the motorist could also manually raise and lower the roll-bar should he choose to thus facilitating the clean look of the R129 without compromising the occupant's safety. A 389hp, 6-litre V12 engined SL600 topped the range, introduced in 1992 as the 600SL, it was then re-named the SL600 in 1994.This early 600SL was supplied new in December 1992 through Mercedes-Benz in Colindale, London to a Royal Household – the current owner and our vendor. Finished in a beautiful red metallic over a beige leather interior, the car is also accompanied by its body colour matching hardtop. A service book included in the file records two stamps, but due to the nature of ownership, all maintenance has been carried out either in-house or locally. This stunning car has not been overused in the past 26 years and shows just 6,831 miles on the odometer. Although we can't warrant this mileage, we do believe it to be correct and commensurate with its single ownership and condition. Prior to the sale, the car will be serviced at a Mercedes-Benz Main dealer and will be sold with a fresh MoT. As the years go by R129s are becoming less plentiful and one or two models within the range are becoming quite scarce. The 600SL V12 is amongst those and this smart example, on offer for the very first time in its life, will certainly attract some interest.

1972 De Tomaso Pantera 'L' 1972 De Tomaso Pantera 'L'

1972 De Tomaso Pantera 'L'

Lot #346 (Sale Order 46 of 51)

Ford 351 300bhp V8, mated to a 5-speed ZF transaxle. Top speed 160 mph, 0-60 in 5.5 secondsVery original example showing just over 24,000 miles and single ownership from 1975 to 2014. Supplied new to Cincinnati and will need to be UK registered (NOVA Reference)Good history including original Owner's Manuals and original Bill of Sale Will need some paint and a little TLC but guided accordingly. Eminently usable as is Designed by Tom Tjaarda, and built by Ghia, the Pantera was launched in 1970 and subsequently updated in 1973 to the Pantera Lusso (Luxury). It was powered by a mid-mounted 300bhp, Ford 351 cubic inch V8 Cleveland engine, mated to a five-speed ZF transaxle. With power-assisted disc brakes on all four wheels, rack and pinion steering, and dramatic good looks, this was a 1970's supercar capable of a top speed of just under 160 MPH and, at the time of launch, a 0-60 mph time of just 5.5 seconds. The history file accompanying this very interesting car confirms that it was in single ownership from registration in 1975 until 2014. Originally purchased by Ernie Whittaker in February 1975 on behalf of his 21-year-old nephew, Bob Evans, it was subject to a financial agreement between them, and when that was settled in 1978, the title passed to Bob. In the aforementioned history file are the sale agreement, loan agreement, paying-in book, and pictures of Bob with the car in 1975 when he was 21. Due to his age, his uncle had put the finance in his name until paid off by Bob.The original bill of sale confirms that this special car was originally ordered with air conditioning, magnesium sports wheels, 351-4V engine, 5-speed transmission, power disc brakes, electric windows, tinted glass and full instrumentation at a total cost of $11,753.26 including sales tax.#THPNND06705 was acquired by our Jersey-based vendor in 2016 and, with just over 24,000 miles on the clock, looks to be in very original condition indeed. The interior is excellent but the Pantera's exterior is starting to show its age with faded paint and cracks in a number of areas. There are some blemishes to the bodywork particularly the passenger door, rear right-hand corner, bonnet, and the front of the car - as you might expect from a 44-year old car that has never been restored. Our vendor reports that mechanically the car performs well following a recent engine recommission, which included new exhaust headers, carburettors and a starter motor and the brakes are excellent having just had all the callipers professionally refurbished with new pads all round. The De Tomaso is supplied with the original Bill of Sale, loan agreement, copy US Title docs, the owner's manual, delivery mileage certificate, various receipts, photographs of the first owner with the car, a UK MoT and its NOVA reference.

Lot #347 (Sale Order 47 of 51)

Originally supplied by Monarch of Birmingham and only 55,000 miles from newSuperbly presented in Aqua Blue over Cream Leather and AMG rimsComprehensive history file with original book packFactory hardtop with the expensive panoramic roof optionLaunched at the 1989 Geneva Motorshow, the R129-Series Mercedes-Benz were far more sporting than the outgoing W107-Series and incorporated a whole range of new technology. The fully automatic convertible roof, sophisticated multi-link suspension, ABS, and automatic roll-bar deployment were all major strides forward 29 years ago. At the top of the range sat the 500SL which was used to debut Mercedes-Benz' new 4-valves per cylinder technology. Coupled with twin overhead camshafts and variable valve timing, these 4973cc engines produced around 326bhp giving the car a top speed well in excess of 150mph and 0 - 60mph took just 6.3 seconds. The car was as refined as it was fast. 1994 brought a facelift to the R129 which included revisions to the headlights, rear lights, and automatic climate control. This was also the year when Mercedes changed their model naming strategy with the 'SL' now moved to the front of the number meaning the 500SL became the SL500.This particular right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz SL500 is finished in the delightful shade of Aqua Blue Metallic with a Mushroom leather interior and Burr Walnut trim. When it was ordered the options list was obviously well-ticked and the car is comprehensively equipped including an expensive panoramic roof and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels. It has been enjoyed by three former keepers and has only covered 55,000 miles from new.It comes with a comprehensive history file with many receipts and a service book with Mercedes main dealer stamps and has its original book pack with manuals and even the original supplying dealers number plates. This is a lovely original unmolested SL in a really pretty colour combination and is an excellent choice if you are looking for a future classic that's eminently usable, fun to drive, and hopefully, a decent investment.

1970 Lotus Elan S4 1970 Lotus Elan S4

1970 Lotus Elan S4

Lot #348 (Sale Order 48 of 51)

A desirable UK right-hand drive Elan S4 drophead coupeComprehensively restored by the vendor over past 6 years Supplied with a UK V5c, invoices and specialist booksBarely driven since rebuild, so will need a period of 'running in'In 1962 Lotus launched a legend, the new and ground-breaking Lotus Elan. Following on from the Elite, the new car offered improved handling and better performance. Below the bonnet sat a new 1558cc, twin-cam four-cylinder engine which would become a legend in its own right, powering other classic Lotus models including, of course, the Cortina.''To say that driving the Elan is immense fun is almost an understatement. It is a car which keeps young men young and makes old men younger...'' 'Motor'The savvy engineering didn't stop with the engine, the Lotus Elan also features a very strong steel backbone chassis on which is mounted, like a saddle, a GRP body plus 4-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension all round. It's not a coincidence that the Elan has enjoyed significant success in motorsport and this is still evident by the large numbers currently involved in historic racing. Production volume of the Elan S4 was about 3,000 cars in total. This particular car is a 1970 Lotus Elan S4 Drophead Coupe finished in Lotus Yellow with a black interior. In 1982 the car was taken off the road to be renovated, however, it would appear the task was too great for the owner at the time and it was sold to another chap in Ealing, who then moved to Cornwall and took the car with him. A busy career and the arrival of children meant the little Lotus remained dismantled, however, our vendor successfully purchased the Elan six years ago and has since spent the time restoring it to its former glory. The body was removed from the chassis and stripped to its gel coat, repairing imperfections and re-laminating where required and the underside treated with Body Shutz for stone protection, before sealing and painting with a two-pack solid Lotus Yellow (L07). A new Lotus chassis was sought and galvanised before painting black. The suspension was reconditioned whilst the brakes were completely renewed to include; new discs, callipers, pads, brakes lines, braided Goodridge hoses and a new servo. The original engine was re-bored and fitted with forged pistons and the crank re-ground before the engine reassembled with a new water pump, fuel pump, oil pump, core plugs, and a new clutch. The gearbox and differential, were sent away to a specialist for reconditioning as required. Engine cooling was attended to with a new heavy-duty radiator and hoses whilst the engine breathing benefitted from a new full stainless steel exhaust system. The interior was fully re-upholstered, new carpets fitted, new doors seals and rubbers as well as a new hood and a Colin Chapman steering wheel. There are many other new items on this beautiful car, perhaps too many to list.Supplied with a V5c and a file of invoices from marque specialists such as Paul Matty, along with photographic records of the whole restoration, this Elan will require a running-in period as it has barely been used since being put back on the road. After many hours of hard graft, this Elan is now looking fantastic and is a great example of a lovely sixties classic, which is both a fun, sunny-day convertible and a thoroughbred sports car with unrivalled handling.

1966 MG MGC GT 1966 MG MGC GT

1966 MG MGC GT

Lot #349 (Sale Order 49 of 51)

Earliest 6-cylinder MGC GT built in November 1966, (Official production started in July 1968)Historically important pre-production car with a unique grilleAn earlier restoration was undertaken by J D Classics pre-1990Large history file including British Motor Industry Heritage Trust CertificateMuch recent work carried out by Steve McKie Sports Cars and MG Owners Club, Workshop With the forthcoming demise of the Austin Healey 3000, BMC were under pressure to find a replacement. One solution was to transplant the Austin Healey's long-serving, 3-litre engine into the MG B engine bay. This would require some substantial changes to the underside of the 'B' meaning that when the MG C, as it became known, went into production it had much more sophisticated underpinnings compared to the MG B, and with the seven main bearing, straight-six mounted up-front, performance was substantially improved over its sibling. From verbal and photographic evidence unearthed, the contention is that LBL 412D, chassis number #GCD 11111 is the earliest MGC GT pre-production development car and the first line-built, home market MGC GT, the build commencing on 3rd November 1966. The registration number LBL 412D was definitely attached to the car that was used by BMC's Competition Department for brake dynamometer testing at the Motor Industry Research Association's track facility to establish some datum power output figures for the new MGC.Chassis GCD 11111 was completed to the following specification:Metal SLV BU/BLK (Riviera Silver Blue metallic with black trim); automatic transmission - the first and only automatic GT development car; home market spec, wire wheels, Dunlop SP radials, and MPH speedometer.A copy of the 1970's continuation log book shows that the engine size was amended to 3528cc which would suggest that the ubiquitous Rover V8 engine was fitted as it had been to a couple of MGB Roadsters a few years earlier. (The one I drove had an Austin-Healey badge on the front and was badged Austin-Healey 4000 on the rear). The car was later reunited with a 2912 cc engine, this time with a manual/overdrive transmission. Following a full restoration by JD Classics, LBL 412D featured on the cover of a US Healey Club magazine in 1990.Kept in good health, much work on the car has been carried out in recent years including restoration of the bodywork and a repaint in its original livery of metallic silver blue, complete refurbishment of the interior with black leather piped in light blue with black carpets and trim, and renewal of the chrome and external brightwork and fittings, though certain areas of the bodywork are now showing a little sign of ageing. The car's previous owner was Justin Law, historic Jaguar racing driver. Offered with good sized history file including invoices for the parts supplied for restoration, copies of old log books, its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, and the well-thumbed V5.

1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupé 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupé

1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupé

Lot #350 (Sale Order 50 of 51)

An excellent example of a genuine, original UK-supplied, Series IIRight-hand drive, manual gearbox, 2+2 FHCMatching numbers. Six previous keepers and 81,000 milesGood history file containing MoTs dating back to 1975, Tax discs, invoices etc. Some cars need no introduction and the Jaguar E-Type is no exception. The Series II cars that were produced from 1969 to 1971 can be identified by their open headlights, no longer with glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper with the tail lights now underneath, and the front indicators were larger and similarly repositioned below the slightly heavier front bumpers. The cooling was much improved helped by the enlarged 'mouth'. Series II cars also feature twin electric fans and uprated brakes. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smoothly polished cam covers to a ribbed appearance. The Series II was initially produced as an Open Two Seater (OTS) or two-seat Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) but by the mid-1960s, the high demand for the car prompted Jaguar to offer a third option, for the driver with a young family, in the form of a 2+2 Coupé. By adding nine inches to the wheelbase and two inches in height, it was then possible to fit a rear seat capable of seating two adults in tolerable comfort and perfect for children. The longer wheelbase also had the added benefit of allowing Jaguar to mate a Borg-Warner automatic transmission to the 4.2-litre engine, thereby further widening the appeal of the model. This is an excellent original example of a genuine UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox with matching numbers 1969 E-Type 2+2 with only six former keepers.Smartly presented in the classic colour combination of Carmen Red with a black leather interior and wire wheels. the car appears to be in very good condition with bright paintwork and excellent shut-lines. It further benefits from a stainless steel exhaust system and a Webasto folding sunroof also in great condition. The odometer indicates a recorded mileage of 80,500, which is supported by MoT Certificates dating back to 1975, and the mileage in November 2005 was 79,062 as recorded in the MoT history, so it would appear that between November 2005 and September 2018, the Jaguar only covered a total of 1,438 miles. Our vendor advises us that this beautiful car drives well and sounds healthy.Accompanied by its history file, fresh MoT, and Heritage Certificate, this very useable E-Type offers everything you'd want from such an iconic model, with the bonus of a couple of extra seats, and is presented at a very realistic guide price compared to other similar matching-numbers offerings.

1971 Datsun 240Z 1971 Datsun 240Z

1971 Datsun 240Z

Lot #351 (Sale Order 51 of 51)

First registered on the 1st of October 1971 and is a genuine UK-supplied, RHD carFully prepared for circuit racing in 1979. Successful in HSCC from 1979 through to the early 90s In storage for a number of years. Converted back to a road car around 2012 - 2015Looks fabulous in fresh white paint, lovely interior, and big Revolution alloys The Datsun 240Z, (latterly the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of 'Z-Type' two-seat coupés, produced by Nissan in Japan from 1969 to 1978. Its dramatic looks owed a considerable amount to a 1960's styling concept drawn by Count Albrecht Goertz for Datsun, presumably at a time when they were considering ways to break into the European sports car market. The 240Z was powered by a lusty 2.4-litre, straight six, overhead cam engine developing around 150bhp resulting in 0-60 in 8 seconds and a top speed of 125mph. A five-speed manual gearbox was standard and the car featured independent suspension all round with MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman links at the rear. Rack and pinion power steering and front disc brakes meant that the 240Z was a thoroughly modern package.According to Classic and Sportscar, the 'Z' was "In a different technical league" whilst Road and Track Magazine noted, "Datsun have reinvented the sports-car with the sleek, civilised, sexy and sporty 240Z".Reporting 151 B.H.P and 146 lb-ft of torque at just 4,400 rpm, Car & Driver said; "A brilliantly conceived car with twice as much thought having gone into it when compared to the Big Healey, MGC, Lotus Elan, Porsches and Corvettes".Launched in the UK as Car & Driver's 'Car of the Year', it was noted by respected race-driver and motoring journalist John Bolster of Autosport; "To the man who still regards high-speed driving as a pleasure and an art, it promotes un-ending joy with the benefit of easy door entry, ample seat adjustment and good visibility for even the tallest of drivers".Equipment levels were high, new paintwork colours were introduced (intended to attract the young), such as Monte Carlo Silver, Orange, and Grand-Prix Blue Metallic with all cars having tinted glass, the sports theme continuing with an almost entirely black interior. Front and rear spoilers were fitted to improve handling stability. The Datsun 'Z' had an excellent record in competition, achieving decent results in both racing and rallying, earning the car a deserved reputation for ruggedness and reliability. Carefully gas-flowing the cylinder head, increasing compression ratios, fitting high-lift performance camshafts and the use of Mangoletsi-type inlet manifolds with triple 40 DCOE carburettors, along with 6-into-1 exhaust manifolds and straight-through exhaust systems, led to power outputs in excess of 190 B.H.P and 0-60 mph times of around the 6 seconds mark.JGX 620K was registered on the 1st of October 1971 and is a genuine UK-supplied, RHD car making it quite desirable in today's market full of imported LHD models. It was fully prepared for circuit racing and was successful in the HSCC class in which it raced from 1979 through to the early 90s driven by Andy Standford. There are many magazine articles and features detailing the car's success and they are with the car. After its racing career was over it was put into storage for a number of years prior to being converted back to a road car we believe around 2012 - 2015.Today this striking Z car sports an original road-car interior with what looks like a new dashboard and fresh 'Z' emblem seats. Externally the car shows its links to its racing heritage in looks only with the slightly lowered suspension and the stunning Revolution alloy wheels. Our vendor had the bodywork refreshed with a fresh coat of paint along with a new rubber seal set. Mechanically the braking system was refurbished along with a new suspension set up more appropriate for the road. These 240Zs are a fantastic drive and this car with its motorsport heritage must surely be an opportunity not to be missed.
