In good overall condition with no patina, and some damage to paint on lower part of neck, ear, and jowel, as pictured.

The handwriting is consistent with examples as shown in the book, "Hitler's Letters and Notes" by Werner Maser (page 97). This piece was found by a 506th PIR 101st Airborne Infantry Division officer named 1 Lt. DC Watts. Marked on reverse, upper left, "13/3". The paper measures 21 cm by 26 cm. In excellent condition. Affiliated Auctions deems this piece as authentic. This lot has a reserve.

ADOLF HITLER PERSONAL DINNERWARE SET FROM BERGHOF

Veteran brought back silver dinnerware set from Hitler's Berghof. Each bares the AH insignia with eagle on handle. Insignia edges are crisp and detailed as expected. Very rare formal pattern with Greek border. Marked 800 for silver content and stamped with the Eagle. Knife measures 8 and 5/16", the fork is 7 1/4", and the spoon measures 5 and 5/8". Berghof was Adolf Hitler's home in the Obersalzberg of the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany, where he spent most of his time during the War. After being bombed and then set on fire by retreating SS troops, US 3rd Infantry Division along side French 2nd Armored Division arrived only hours later and looted the home. This lot has a reserve.

Signatures include Goering, Hess, Doenitz, Ribbentrop, Keitel, Kaltenbrunner, Rosenberg, Frank, Frick, Raeder, Von Schirach, Sauckel, Jodl, Seyss-Inquart, Speer, Von Neurath, Von Papen, Schacht and Fritzsch. It also comes with a newspaper article from the Sauk Valley about Sergeant Buchanon. It talks about his time at the trials and is signed James H Buchanon. There are a few pages from time magazine showing life at the Nuremberg trials. Also included is a Justice Telephone Directory International Military Trials Nuremberg Feb. 1946. Over all very good.

A particular interesting letter describing "Eight Balls" men unable to follow directions, a November 1943 Directive preparing for Italian food riots, victory mail, listing of the Garrison members, references to the Normandy invasion and more. The pages are in order and clear but the book binding is pretty much gone.

ADOLF HITLER PERSONAL SPOONS FROM BERGHOF

Veteran brought back silver dinnerware from Hitler's Berghof. Included in the lot is 1 dinner spoon and 1 coffee spoon. Each bares the AH insignia with eagle on handle. Insignia edges are crisp and detailed as expected. Marked 800 for silver content and stamped with the Eagle. Dinner spoon measures 7 3/8", coffee spoon is 4 1/2". Berghof was Adolf Hitler's home in the Obersalzberg of the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany, where he spent most of his time during the War. After being bombed and then set on fire by retreating SS troops, US 3rd Infantry Division along side French 2nd Armored Division arrived only hours later and looted the home. This lot has a reserve.

This iron Viking Oakeshott sword, which originated circa 5th century A.D., was found buried under water, close to a citadel near Cologne, Germany. The item is in good condition, as it was preserved for centuries due to freshwater and mud.. Pommel has indicernable markings. Nice thin blade with deep central fuller. Moderate to heavy corrosion. Leather chin strap is present but shows heavy signs of wear and no markings.
