2000 Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0

- Desirable later style 2.0 Twin Spark variant with body-colour sills and bumpers and updated dashboard - Reportedly just had a timing belt and tensioner change and supplied with code key, and hand books - Apparently 120,000 recorded miles with many previous MOT certificates and original radio and CD changer Legendary Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo carried out three significant updates to their popular 916 Series GTV coupe during its production run between 1995 and 2004. The Phase 2 version such as this example was launched in 1998 and featured colour-coded side skirts and front and rear bumpers and also a revised dashboard centre console with a silver painted finish. The leather seats were finished in fluted Momo leather. Build quality was much improved although performance was similar with the 2.0 Twin Spark engine delivering about 150 BHP through its front-wheel-drive 5-speed gearbox. Finished in the popular silver paint with a black leather interior, this GTV is reported to have covered 120,000 miles and is apparently accompanied by "all old MOT's", the immobiliser code key, hand books, and its original radio and CD changer. The vendor informs us that the timing belt and tensioner have just been changed and they describe the car as being in "very good" condition.

1937 Riley 9 Merlin

- A buff log book shows a lady owner in Kent from new on February 1st 1937 until 1968 - Believed to have had only five recorded owners from new, and fitted with a pre-selector gearbox - Thought to have been in storage from the late 1960's until 2002 and in the process of restoration since The buff log book on file for this lovely pre-selector gearbox equipped Riley 9 Merlin states that it was first registered in Maidstone, Kent, on February 1st 1937 to a lady in Rainham, Kent. She is reported to have retained ownership until 1968 when it was acquired by a gentleman in Dorking, Surrey, who soon moved to Worthing, West Sussex. He still owned the car a year later but other than a copy of an August 1970 MOT certificate from his local garage in Worthing, the trail goes cold until early 2002 when it is apparent that the DVLA accepted a request from someone in Wadhurst, Kent, to have the car re-registered with its original number plate. There are photographs on file from around that period that show the car to be in remarkably sound and complete condition, indicating that its predicted thirty years of storage were in somewhere extremely dry. In 2003 the car is reported to have been in "running" order and ownership passed again to someone in Kent who is believed to have commenced the restoration. However, the Merlin was sold in 2009 as a part-completed project and was shortly afterwards acquired by our vendor. The sales description at the time stated that "The chassis, front and rear axles, suspension, prop-shaft, and engine have all been overhauled, while the body received new door skins and the ash frame-work has been repaired wherever necessary. Currently in primer, DKO 509 is now ready for final painting and re-trimming". Our vendor has since spent well in excess of ú14,000 on restorative works which include having the car re-painted (in a colour as close to its original as possible), having the front seats re-trimmed, replacing the carpets, renovating the wood-work, re-chroming many items including the grille, and powder coating the wheels, invoices for all of which are on file. Reportedly last run about a year ago (hence the temporary dash board still fitted), the car comes with a few items to aid completion of the restoration such as headlight reflectors, headlining cloth, and a new wiring loom. Also present are numerous invoices from both the current and previous ownership and a quantity of photographs showing the body and mechanical renovations. This is a beautiful car which has clearly had significant recent expenditure, and is apparently not far away from returning to the road after about forty years.

The car was off the road from 2006 to 2013 , then was MoT'd and parked up again untill 2015, having covered only 90 miles between the 2015 and 2016 MoT visits to the local service station.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the catalogue went to press we have been informed that Karmann purpose-built 207 examples of the CSi to right-hand drive specification. Previous RHD 3.0 CSi cars were built to left-hand drive specification and then converted to right-hand drive by Karmann prior to distribution among BMW's RHD dealer network. In summary BMW sold more than 207 RHD 3.0 CSi cars with earlier examples beginning life as left-hand drive shells. PLEASE NOTE: This lot failed its Autolign Inspection due to the following: (1) 'Cosmetic Exterior Panel Repairs', (2) 'Some high spot body filler repair readings to both offside and nearside 'A' and 'B' posts. Same area needs further investigation', (3) 'Rear Service brakes inefficient below MOT minimum standard' and (4) 'Rear Panel MIG / Gas welded to boot floor with open seam work'. A copy of the Autolign Inspection Report is available to view in the Documents' Office. Since the inspection was carried out the vendor has had the rear service brakes adjusted and the recommended welding attended to. He has not investigated the 'A' and 'B' posts because he did not want to disturb the paintwork / associated trim. - Extensively restored and upgraded with BMW M5 engine (estimated 325bhp), gearbox and differential - Later-type front seats, power steering, Alpina wheels, electric windows - MOT'd till February 2017 Just 207 RHD examples of the Karmann-bodied 3.0 CSi are thought to have been UK supplied. According to an accompanying letter from BMW (UK) Ltd, this particular example was manufactured on August 30th 1973. Originally finished in Fjord Blue, it was the subject of an insurance total loss payment during July 1991. The reason why is unknown. However, it seems highly improbable that the CSi suffered any major structural damage if only because of its subsequent transformation. Acquired by classic car restorer and race preparer Costa Ouloupis as a personal project in 2005, the BMW became a labour of love that took some six years to complete. Stripped bare, the bodyshell was refurbished with a replacement bonnet, front panel, boot lid, doors and front wings. Repainted in its initial Fjord Blue livery, it then received a drivetrain transplant from an E34-series BMW M5. No stranger to the Munich firm's machinery, Mr Ouloupis overhauled the DOHC straight-six with Shrik camshafts so that it developed an estimated 325bhp. Utilising the same donor vehicle's close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox and limited slip differential seemed prudent as did installing Bilstein suspension and vented disc brakes hidden behind period 16-inch Alpina alloys (the latter being the only external clue to the Coupe's much enhanced turn of speed). Chosen for their greater comfort and support, the E34-series M5 also donated its Beige leather seats to the project. A real wolf in designer sheep's clothing, TLN 501M' is understood to have covered circa 3,000 miles since its refurbishment / upgrading was completed. Still highly presentable, it seemingly offers the best of both worlds; classic styling allied to modern high performance. Passing its last MOT certificate on February 12th 2016 with no advisories, the vendor has arranged for the BMW to undergo an HPi-approved Autolign inspection so as to reassure any potential purchasers (www.autolign-inspections.co.uk).

The Metro returned to Patrick motors on 5th July that same year for its first service including oil and filter change at 1038miles. On the 1st February 1986 when the car was one year old, it was sold by private treaty to a Mr and Mrs Turton residing in Aldridge, West Midlands. Mr Turton took the Metro for its first MoT on the 1st March 1988 with 3346 miles now recorded. All MoT's present reflect the incremental annual mileage of only a few hundred miles each year to this day. The metro was always maintained by the same mechanic from 1992 including minor minor jobs overtime such as replacing the tailgate struts. All receipts have been retained and reflect the work carried out over the years. Within the history pack there are various receipts showing the care the Metro has received over its lifetime. The full handbook pack is present and correct as you would expect. The radio blanking plate is still present also as no stereo was required. In June 2016, the Metro was MoT'd once again and a new radius arm fitted at the same time. The Turton's then sold the car after 30 years of loving ownership. Still shining in its Arun White paintwork and carrying its supplying dealer window sticker and number plates the Metro still drives like they did back in the 1980's, still riding on its original metric wheel. The interior is clearly in beautiful and unmarked condition and would not look out of place displayed in an Austin Rover showroom today. It has recently received a new exhaust pipe and also has a Unipart battery fitted. At the time of the auction entry the miles recorded are 23359.
