A group of eleven privately-taken unpublished photographs from the Grand Prix D'Europe at Silverstone 13th May 1950 the very first World Championship Formula One race, b&...morew 2 by 3in., three show the cars pre-race, the first a pit-lane close-up of the Murray & Hampshire's Maserati cars, the second also taken from the pit lane featuring the Talbot-Lago cars of Giraud-Cabantous, Rosier, Etancelin, Martin & Claes, the third taken from the infield showing the Alfa Romeo cars of Fangio, Farina (who would win the race), Fagioli & Parnell respectively; five of the shots are of race action taken from three vantage points; a further photograph depicts the arrival of the royal car at Silverstone; the final two pictures are portraits of spectators that attended the race and took these photograph, one sees them enjoying a picnic

Rare Formula 1 driver autographs obtained at the 1950 Dundrod Tourist Trophy Race, two pages from an autograph book featuring some 25 ink driver signatures obtained durin...moreg the event, one including Reg Parnell, George Abecassis, winner Stirling Moss, Leslie Johnson, runner-up P N Whitehead, S H Allard, with Charles Martin, third-placed Bob Gerard, T C Harrison on the reverse; the other with Robin Richards, Tony Glaze, N R Culpan, J Buncombe, Peter Clark, David Murray; together with the 1953 to 1955 Dundrod event programmes, the three 76-page souvenir publications with some notation; plus a 1992 Dundrod Classic retro-event programme signed inside by F1 driver John Watson (6) The demanding 7.4 mile Dundrod road circuit was home to the Tourist Trophy Races from 1950 until 1955, when three drivers were killed during the fifth running of the event. The circuit was subsequently dropped from all future motor racing calendars.

OSTERREICHISCHE ALPENFAHRT 1954, EHRENPREIS DER SALZBURGER LANDESREG., mounted on a wooden stand, 43 by 19cm. At the 1954 Alpine Rally, Sheila Van Damm won the unlimited touring class in her Sunbeam Talbot 90, largely in part to her brilliant performance in the terrifying Lesachtal section of the course. She also won the Coupe des Dames. The illustration is shared with lot 666.

Then, whilst filming in England during 1961, he actually finished third in a race at Brands Hatch driving a borrowed Mini. This involvement with motorsport led him to explore possible motor racing film ventures and eventually resulted in the production of 'Le Mans'.

Peter Gethin-signed 1971 Italian Grand Prix report and Yardley B.R.M. press pack, his ink signature on the page preceding a profusely illustrated 10-page 1971 race report...more and circuit review within the Marlboro Grand Prix Guide, 1972 Edition Kreuzer, Zurich, soft cover 264 pages, the press pack for the launch of the P160 car, dated Wednesday 17 February 1971, the notes entitled: 21 Years On - B.R.M. In 1971, The B.R.M. Formula 1 Car, V12 Engines and Type 161 Gearbox, Yardley Team Drivers: Pedro Rodriguez, Jo Siffert, Howden Ganley, John Miles, Background to Yardley And Motor Sport, Yardley's Grand Prix Exploitation Plans For 1971, B.R.M. Theme For Yardley Motoring Safety Contest, with eight b&w photographs, three of the P160 Formula 1 car, one of each driver and one of 'The Yardley Hot Pants Girls', all held in a Yardley Team B.R.M. folder, with a Rubery Owen Director's business card 1971 was a tragically turbulent year for Yardley Team B.R.M. Peter Gethin joined them following the death of Pedro Rodriguez that summer and then won his second race for them, the Italian GP, by the closest ever F1 winning margin of 0.010 seconds, a race that with his winning speed of 150.755mph is still the second fastest F1 race ever run. Jo Siffert was later killed in the last race of the season at Brands Hatch. Signed at the Peter Gethin Performance Driving School at Goodwood during the 1990s.

The collection reflects the career of an engineer who started work at Clarke & Simpson in 1969, where he became involved with the Rothmans Rally and Audi Sport teams. In 1979 he joined David Sutton Motorsport and continued to work with the same manufacturers. He was part of the crew that won the 1981 RAC Rally and in 1985 moved on to Gartrac Motorsport.

The atmosphere is successfully captured by this artist, now considered one of the country's leading automotive artists, whose association with The Halcyon Gallery began in 1987 and continues to this day.
