Laverda 3C 1000

Lot # 102 (Sale Order: 2 of 168)

During the late 1960s and early 1970s Laverda faced intense competition not just from the Japanese makers with their flashy multicylindered superbikes but also from more local rivals like Benelli Ducati and Moto Guzzi So in 1968 and while launching its new range of 750cc twins the Breganze company started work on Massimo Laverda’s brainchild – a new bigcapacity threecylinder motor First revealed in prototype form at the 1969 Milan and Geneva shows the chaindriven single overhead cam 1000cc 120 triple was essentially a 750 twin with an additional cylinderThe new fivespeed could hold its own in any company With 80hp it could match the Z1’s 130mph top speed The conservative but brutish styling was appealing as was its distinctive engine and exhaust note while a sportier riding position beefy forks and superior rear suspension units allowed it to outhandle the Oriental flexiflyers of the dayThe matchingnumbers 3C here was first registered in 1973 and was one of the first homologated for road use in JuneJuly 1973 shortly before motorcycle production transferred to a new factory These facts are confirmed in a 2008 letter from Piero Laverda to the then owner This 3C has also been treated to a full restoration to correct specifications with work completed in 2008 It has spent its entire life in Italy with the current owner purchasing it shortly after the restoration With Laverda in longterm hibernation at the behest of the owning Piaggio Group this is a rare opportunity to acquire a beautiful early example of what is arguably the marque’s greatest model

Indian Boardtrack Racer

Lot # 106 (Sale Order: 6 of 168)

The Indian Boardtrack Racers of the early 20th century are quite easily amongst the most beautiful motorcycles ever built The bikes are the first real generation of motorcycles and were largely based on bicycles with no rear suspension and very limited front springsThe engines were often vtwins with some exceptions and they were started by either being pushed or bump started the rider only had two controls a spark advance and a kill switch The spark advance controlled the point at which the spark plug fired and was used to accelerate the boardtrackers had no brakes and so had to roll to a stop often with the rider putting his feet down to slow the bikeThis twincylinder example comes to us from a private collection and has been proudly exhibited there for over 20 years With a cubic capacity of 1000cc and style aplenty this offers the lucky new owner an insight into early US motorcycle manufacturing

Austin Mini Convertible

Lot # 120 (Sale Order: 20 of 168)

The Mini requires little introduction however it may be of interest to note that the Mk III Mini produced from 1969 to 2000 had a modified bodyshell with several alterations from the early models The most obvious changes were larger doors with concealed hinges Customer demand led to the sliding windows being replaced with winding windows and the suspension reverted from Hydrolastic to rubber cones as a cost saving measure With so many Minis built it would become popular to modify them to individual tastesOn offer today is a convertible Mini 1000 City E modified from a standard Saloon first registered in December 1987 The car sits on Minilite wheels with wood veneer dashboard and steering wheel The interior has been retrimmed with new door cards and carpets The Mini looks attractive with its sky blue coachwork cream hood and cream hood cover which keeps things tidy whilst the hood is stowed We are advised that this UK registered convertible Mini will arrive with a fresh MoT test certificate What a fun package this is that will be enjoyed by a lucky new owner for many summers to come

Renault Clio Sport V6

Lot # 122 (Sale Order: 22 of 168)

When Renault launched the V6 Sport Clio in 2001 it was broadly based on the Renault Clio Mk II however the V6 variant actually shares very little with its standard counterpart The 30Litre V6 engine was taken from the Renault Laguna and tuned to 227bhp before being placed into the middle of the Clio replacing the rear seats and turning this car into a very hot hatch  Capable of accelerating from 060 in just 62 seconds with a top speed of 146mph the Clio V6 Sport was in many ways the spiritual successor to the wild rally based midengine Renault Five Turbo of the 1980s The Clio Mk II had to be extensively reworked structurally to accommodate the transition transforming the car from a frontengine front wheel drive car to a midengine rear wheel drive machine This is certainly not a car for the faint hearted built in limited numbers and mainly driven by only the true enthusiasts of the dayThis Renault Clio V6 offered in silver with blue Alcantara interior sports seats is a true example of a modern classic In great condition with ten service stamps the most recent in May 2016 at 59800 miles this car has been well maintained whilst recently wrapped up in cotton wool by previous owners appreciating the rising values of such cars A tracker has been installed and all handbooks including the original service booklet are present and correct alongside an MoT test certificate valid until November 2017 With honest examples becoming hard to source this particular car looks to be very good value indeed
