Savage Model 1899H Lever Action Rifle, #80385, .25-35 WCF cal., 20" featherweight barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut two-piece straight grip stock, pinned German silver blade front and Savage No. 21 adjustable V-notch rear sights, color case hardened lever and assembly, brass cartridge counter, period Lyman adjustable peep sight added at the rear of the receiver, Schnabel forend, and sharp factory markings. Mfg'd 1907. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining 90%-95% thinning factory finish, with light wear at the muzzle, small marks along the barrel, and highpoint edgewear. Receiver shows toning finish with light scratches and edgewear. Front ring is drilled and tapped with two vacant holes. Lever and assembly display vivid color case hardening, particularly in protected areas. Stock is very good with numerous indentations, scratches and handling marks associated with field activities. There is some crackling of the finish on the right side behind the receiver. Butt ends with a checkered hard rubber buttplate with the "SAVAGE QUALITY" marking and brave's head emblem providing a 13" LOP. Bottom end of the buttplate is broken, approx. 1" of the plate is missing with a tiny chip at the toe. Additionally, there is tape residue around the butt that should clean. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Action is crisp and locks up securely on this early Savage, desirable in the .25-35 Winchester chambering. Est.: $1,000-$1,200. (C&R/PPT)**
