Group of Four (4) Pre-WWII German Swords: 1) WW1 era Wurttemberg Infantry officer's degen, 31" straight nickel-plated blade with two small fullers, no maker's markings. Gilt brass crossguard with folding clamshell featuring a pierced Wurttemberg royal crest. Intact leather finger loop on inside of guard. Grooved wood grip covered in sharkskin and wrapped with triple twisted wire. Brass pommel with royal Wurttemberg cypher. Black painted steel scabbard with one hanging ring. Condition is good, the blade mostly bright, with scattered light rust and minor wear, with no edge nicks. The outer small branch of the finger guard is bent down towards the main beam. Brass fittings show wear to the gold gilt finish which remains in protected areas. Leather finger loop shows wear and fraying. Grip is very nice, showing only light wear and age, with all the wire wrapping intact and tight. Scabbard shows heavy wear to the paint, scratches and scuffs, light rust patches, but no dents. Missing the two screws at the throat of the scabbard. 2) WW1 era Prussian Infantry Officer's degen, 30.5" straight blade with two small fullers, maker marked by W.K.&C. at the ricasso. Black painted steel crossguard with folding clamshell featuring a pierced Prussian eagle. Intact leather finger loop inside the guard. Grooved black composite grip with Wilhelm II royal cypher attached and wrapped with triple twisted wire. Black painted pommel. Black painted steel scabbard with one hanging ring. Condition is fair, the blade has a dark rust patina overall, but no edge nicks. Guard and pommel show losses to the black painted finish, with rust patina to the surfaces. Leather finger loop shows cracking and age. Grip shows normal age and light wear, with some looseness to the wire wrapping. Scabbard has lost almost all its black painted finish and has a dark rust patina overall, and no dents. 3) Weimar period officer's sword with a 33" slightly curved nickel-plated plain blade, maker marked by WKC at the ricasso. Gilt brass crossguard with rounded quillion, front langet is engraved with oak leaves. "P" type finger guard and backstrap/pommel are decorated with engraved oakleaves. Black composite grooved grip with triple twisted brass wire. Black painted steel scabbard. Condition is good, the blade is mostly bright with scattered pepper rust near the point, and some minor edge nicks. Blade is coated with some light grease and should clean nicely. Crossguard and hilt fittings show heavy wear and age to the gold gilt finish. Grip shows light soiling, with all the wire intact and tight. Scabbard shows paint loss, numerous scratches and scuffs, light rust patina, with a couple of small dents. 4) Imperial German officer's degen, ca. 1840-1900, 32.5" straight blade has a single wide fuller, and no maker's markings. Blade is etched with floral decorations, military motifs, and an eagle with crown. Plain brass clamshell guards, the rear being a folding type, upturned decorated quillion, and "D"-shaped finger guard. Wood grip wrapped with twisted silver wire. Floral decorated rounded pommel with flared capstan tang nut. No scabbard. Condition is good, the blade showing age graying and rust patina, with light pitting and heavier rust near the tip. Hilt fittings show a pleasant aged patina to the brass. There is some paint on the silver wire wrapping. Wire shows some gaps in the coverage but is quite tight and may be originally done that way. Grip and guard are nice and tight to the blade. Est.: $600-$900/Lot.
