Pair of Engraved William & John Rigby Turnover Percussion Pocket Pistols -A) W. & J. Rigby Pocket Pistol

Pair of Engraved William & John Rigby Turnover Percussion Pocket Pistols -A) W. & J. Rigby Pocket Pistol
The famous Rigby shop in Dublin was run by William and John Rigby between 1818 and 1858 and remains one of the premier firearms makers in the world today. This pair of turnover pocket pistols from circa 1830 are signed "Wm & Jn Rigby/Dublin" on the left side of the triple-bent boxlock actions in Gothic script surrounded by extensive scroll and border engraving. The barrels of the first pistol are each marked with the County Carlow registration number "CW-61", and the barrels of the second pistol have "CW-62." The actions have folding triggers and scroll hooks that guard the nipple in the lower position. The bag-shaped checkered butts each have a vacant silver initial escutcheon at the wrist and a vacant silver oval on the butt. Includes a receipt from Robert Abels Antique Firearms dated December 20, 1961.
