WWII German P.38 Walther ac/45 Semi-Automatic Pistol, with Two Magazines and Shoulder Holster, #8156c, 9mm, 4.9" barrel, blued/phosphate/bright finish, dark red Bakelite grooved grips, drift adjustable blade front sight and fixed rear sight with "U" notch, hammer drop safety, lanyard loop, and two (2) blued steel magazines. Both magazines are marked "P.38v/U" on the left side indicating the feed lips were left unhardened and have "ribbed" followers to provide extra support. There are no other markings. The shoulder holster is made from high quality brown polished leather and is unmarked. Holster condition is very good showing impressions and handling marks. All stitching is intact. Pistol is a late-war type assembled from available parts by the U.S. forces who captured the Walther plant or by the workers still on site. All parts have mismatched numbers in the "c" block. There is an "(eagle)/359" stamp on the left side frame and another on the right-side slide, but no firing proof or final inspection stamp. The bright breechblock is stamped with an "(eagle)/359" stamp but no serial number. The hammer has been crudely finished and left bright. The disassembly lever, slide, and magazine release are phosphate finished. No import marks. Markings are muted on the slide and the rails show hand filing. Condition overall is very good, the metal retaining approx. 90% finish, showing edgewear and darkening to the barrel and patina to the hammer. Grips are very good with scattered chips to each side. Action, hold open, and hammer drop safety all function properly; bright bore rates as very good with very good defined rifling. Est.: $900-$1,200. (C&R)
