Outstanding Collection of Bullseye and Sharpshooter Pistols. This lot contains 49 pistols representing a model history of these fascinating guns. The Bullseye and Sharpshooter Rubber Band Target Pistols were invented by Dr. Claude L. Bunten of Rawlins, Wyoming. He began producing these as the Bulls-Eye Company. After WWII Dr. Bunten sold the company to John O. Beckwith who continued running the company as Bulls-Eye Mfg. Corp., La Jolla, Calif. Twenty-four (24) of these pistols were part of the Charles "Chuck" Suydam collection. Charles was a well-known writer and staff editor for The Gun Report publication. He wrote an article for The Gun Report, February 1981 (included), when he first became interested in these guns. Over the years he built an extensive collection of pistols and research and was considered an expert in the field. The 24 guns from his collection are: 1) First Bullseye, 2) Second Bullseye, 3) SS1 French, 4) SS2 French, 5) SS3 1st 3rd Pat., 6) SS4 1st La Jolla, 7) SS5 1st Wood La Jolla, 8) SS6 A&F, 9) SS7 Ivory, 10) SS8 blue, 11) SS9 Ivory Los Angeles, 12) SS10 Blue, 13) SS11 Bud Beckwith, 14) SS12 Blue Eagle Pair, 15) SS13 Rawlins Pat., 16) SS14 Ivory Red Box, 17) SS16 Blue, 18) SS15 Rawlins 2 Pat., 19) SS17 Blue Pair, 20) SS18 Black/Ivory, 21) Bagged Los Angeles, 22) V.L. & A., 23) SS22 Carlson Nickel, 24) SS23. Of these 24, 2 were featured in his 1981 article: Nickeled Sharpshooter marked "SHARP SHOOTER/PAT Feb 26 '24-Jan 12 ?26/SEPT 7 '37", and a Blued Bullseye marked "BULLSETYE PISTOL CO. RAWLINS, WYO." The collection has been added to with additional models of both the Bullseye and Sharpshooter models. Factory boxes and accessories are included with most. Also included are articles manuals, catalogs, advertisements, correspondences, history of both companies, shop displays, picture inventories, targets, detailed descriptions of models, custom shirt showing a Bullseye pistol, replacement grips, the Feb. 1981 Gun Report which includes Charles Suydam's article, the Oct. 1980 American Rifleman which includes an article by E.
