Pickup, 1967 Chevy Step-Side Dually. You might be thinking "They never made such a thing!" You would be right! This '67 was found for sale along the road and was bought on the phone. It was a half ton, 6-cyl, 3-speed, no power brakes, no disc brakes, no power steering, no radio. The cab needed rockers but the step-side long box was perfect. Now comes the creative part. Doug found a '72 C-20 with all the bells and whistles and started building with the '72 chassis. This series truck has trailing arm rear suspension so there isn't any leaf spring between the wheel and the frame. That leaves a lot of room, so could it be possible for dual wheels to fit? Yes they could. And they only stuck outside the fender 5 inches on each side. Gethmann cut the stringers on the box and welded in a 5" extension on each side. That gave the box the correct width. Then he bought two tailgates and welded them together. This truck looks like something Chevrolet should have made. It doesn't look "pinched in" like the factory step-sides. Next comes the best part with GM Crate ZZ4 engine. It has a roller cam, aluminum Corvette heads, aluminum hi-rise intake, 700 double pumper and headman headers. The new interior, like the body, has satin black paint. This truck is truly one of a kind. You will get crazy looks every time you drive it. Being a dually, it has a goose-neck hitch, receiver hitch and teak bed. It's a looker and a really nice truck. Digital dash, no odometer.
